This is like my worst nightmare. I use PlugShare and Open Charge Map to find plugs if/when I need them, and it's been successful so far. Some people offer their home chargers for public use, which has helped me out a lot.
That being said... I really dislike that statement "being that I had no choice." This is the only wall plug in the city? How much in advance did this person know about this business meeting? I don't like the "this is just bad luck" vibe of the OP. This could have been avoided.
Mind, I think the owners are overreacting and need full strength chill pills, asap.
On one hand it's about fucking time.
On the other hand:
>UK: Chargemaster, Pod Point
LOL IT DOESN'T SUPPORT POLAR OR ECOTRICITY WHAT'S THE POINT?
Don't bother with this. Use Plugshare instead, it even has a route planner.
I recommend you install PlugShare from the Play Store. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xatori.Plugshare You can locate compatible stations at will and find out in advance which networks they belong to.
> Frankly, we don't have the proper infrastructure to use them in the US right now.
Speak to your own region. California has been pretty aggressive in installing these. You can drive from the Oregon border to Mexico in an electric. Am sure there are large areas where this is not true. But the US is a big space. I'd bet large areas of the east coast have lots of them as well. Here's an app to find them: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xatori.Plugshare&hl=en
Another good charging app is plugshare <https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xatori.Plugshare&hl=en_CA>
not sure if you have heard of it or not, quite useful in my opinion, I used it to find a bunch of local businesses that have free charging
I only charge at home but honestly I'd use a separate app like PlugShare for that.
Just like having up to date traffic I'd want to know the latest available status of a charger before driving to it.

The navigation system shows Teslas Supercharger stations and partnered destination charging stations on the screen.
You can also get an app called Plugshare which shows lots of charging stations.
