Download samsung voice recorder app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.android.app.voicenote and do a test with interview mode on top and lower mics. Say testing testing top mic 123, then testing testing lower mic 123. Check the results, reply to this comment with the file so I can check it if you want. I had this problem a couple months ago, I just had to tell samsung the mic was broken and they fixed it.
What's the exact name of the app that you were using? As far as I know, the S7 doesn't come with a voice recording / memo app. If you're using Samsung Voice Recorder, the .m4a files are saved in ~/Voice Recorder/. You can use an app like Solid Explorer to access it.
Record audio with your phone? Apple has Voice memos, my Samsung phone has an app called Voice recorder. About as simple as it gets, and by using the phone mic you don't need to deal with external mics, audio interfaces or selecting the right inputs either.
All that's left is to move the audio file to your computer and add it to daVinci.
I use Samsung voice recorder which for some reason seems to capture every word I say much more closely than Google Voice to text or the Samsung keyboard voice to text.
The cool thing about it is that it will send your voice recordings to your phone. The companion phone app is in the play store here's the link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.android.app.voicenote
From inside the app on your phone you can long press on the saved recordings and share to evernote. My favorite part is it will share the recording or the the recognized text or both.
This is one I used for general voice recording. It's probably best for what you need. Samsung Voice Recorder
This is one I used specifically for recording phone calls. I liked it because it records automatically. I caught a few calls I didn't mean to, but I just deleted those. The important thing is that I caught the calls I wanted to catch, and I didn't have to remember to turn the recorder on. It does have advertising, but it is free.
My S10e didn't have it either. Ridiculously simple to install.

Which program(s) are you using?
I have Voice Memo installed on my Gear S3 and Samsung Voice Recorder installed on my Galaxy S8+. Voice Memo recordings on the watch are automatically copied to the Voice Recorder app on the phone.
What is your cellphone model? I have a Samsung and used to start recordings on the default audio recorder by sending an intent from Tasker to the app . It would open and start recording right away. That worked the best for me.
The intent action is: voicenote.intent.action.edge_start_record Target package: com.sec.android.app.voicenote
Favorite one. Great if you send voice messages, or do other voice stuff.
More capable S notes app?? Where is that? My S note doesn't have half of the stuff shown in the Note 5 video. And yes, I reinstalled the Galaxy App store. Says my S note is up to date.
BTW, I would propose adding the Samsung Voice recorder. to the list. It will record AND transcribe a conversation in real time, with pretty amazing accuracy! Anything missed is easily edited afterwards, but it only runs for 5 minutes at a time, then you have to restart. I had it on my Note 4.
Download this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.android.app.voicenote , test in interview mode to check both mics (top & bottom) are working fine. Also, what phone do you have, s6 or s7?
Here's an adapted version of a list I posted on a similar question a while ago. They're all Android - I use a Samsung Galaxy S9
No idea why that would happen but here is the link to Samsung's Voice Recorder

You could try Samsung Voice Recorder
I would use Samsung's recorder but not sure if you can install it on your phone. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.android.app.voicenote
Great app! May i suggest you a bit more visually appealing screenshots , maybe something like this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.android.app.voicenote
