Yes - I do this because the only way to get my steps into the Carrot app to earn rewards is with Google Fit (or FitBit, but I have a GEar S3 instead :)).

You need to use Health Sync. It's really useful!

I found it on Amazon. It's a thin peice of metal with 3m adhesive on the back. Its cut and fit are very nice. Just got it today so can't attest to how well it will hold up, but we'll see..

From what I can tell, the notification sound is a single one on the S3. But I have mine muted. If you want multiple notification sounds, this *is* possible on your phone using Megasound.

Not sure what you're asking about the multiple accounts. The watch is just an extension of the phone, with a few exceptions. There are watch-specific apps, but for the most part it's just a secondary screen.

As far as reading the messages, you'll get a few lines but I just use it to see when I get an email and open my phone anyway.

I theorize that the issue is caused by an update push by Samsung that causes some instability in the connection between the watch and the phone. Both my watch and my phone (Note8) experienced very very poor battery life at the same time.

I downloaded and installed an updated APK of the wear app from APKMirror and I no longer experience the issue.

I really like the Barton bands on amazon for my classic. Decent price, look great, and the top grain leather feels way better than the genuine leather one I bought before. I also really dig the quick release springs by default.

Google Keep is not available, you can find alternatives like this one, but these are basically different apps for the same purpose (notes taking). Android messages just a client for the SMS for you phone with the web integration - AFAIK there is no client for the S3 exist, but you can read and reply to incoming messages from the watch (when phone is connected, not sure about the LTE version). Google Authenticator is not available, but there are 3rd-party apps to add this functionality (I use this one, works great, but phone app is not free and costs $2.

Generally, if you want much more than notification, activity tracking and built-in apps, Tizen will be not the best choice.

I tried the default Samsung Email client on my Samsung S8+, but I wanted more control over folders. I use Aqua Mail Pro which, in addition to being highly customizable, has enhanced notification support for smart watches (including Gear S3). No need for a special app on the Gear S3. Notifications are sent as standard notifications, but I can configure the 'action buttons' with a few different actions, such as Reply, Delete, Move to Archive, Mark Read, Move to Spam. These actions get shown on the Gear S3 as available buttons when I tap to view the message. I personally use just Delete and Move to Spam. I haven't tried replying to messages on the watch.

With DP3 I still have to use the hacked APK like DP2 for it to work. The good news is I was able to get Samsung Pay to work by installing an older Samsung Pay APK and tested this morning and it worked like it used to. It still does not show up in the gear manager for me but at least the watch works as it should.

Yes there is! And I've been using it for months on my Gear S3.

It's called Sleep as Android. It is a paid app on the Play Store. But it's not that expensive, plus there's a free trial.

They have a Add on specifically for the Gear series. Here it is: Sleep as Android Gear Add-on

You also have to get the app from the Gear store for your gear. It doesn't just wake you up how you want, it also gives a lot of in depth knowledge about your sleeping patterns, when you're most active, etc.

Since you'll get the watch anyways, give this a try. Oh, and if you Google the app, you'll see it's tried and tested, with many good reviews.

It was a lot simpler than that for me. I just downloaded and installed this. Fixed everything without any app or settings changes, and S Health works just fine.

Hi there, I bought my Gear S3 frontier exactly 6 days ago. It worked for 2 days straight after one charge until yesterday. But last night I have experienced a real battery drain on my watch. It was fully (100%) charged before sleeping as I use to track my sleep as well. Watch was on power saving mode too. I woke up with only 41% charge remaining which was quite shocking. My brother also has the same issue.

Get plugin APK from here and install it on your phone, after that you'll be able to setup Samsung Pay from your watch.

"I'm unable to download" - why exactly? Is it present on the Gear itself? If it is, and you just can't get it on your phone for some reason - get latest apk on APKMirror and install it normally on your phone, then try launching Samsung Pay on the Gear - it should work just fine after that.

Then i also installed a carbon fiber skin on the body and then a matte clear skin for the bezel with a screen protector of course. All of the tempered glass screen protectors out there doesn't cover the whole screen. They all made the screen have a slight domed look to it, changing the whole look of the S3.

You have to take your time, very carefully clean the gunk out of TriWing screw heads or they'll strip. Then very slowly and gently work the cover off without prying up on the silicone gasket, which will wreck it.

As to the battery life, I can actually go 5 days with a full charge\discharge cycle, but I try to keep the battery between 40 and 80%. I just toss it on the charger when I shower each day, so it easily stays in that range. No AOD, no HR, no workout detection. I do leave GPS on, bluetooth on, and keep brightness about 5.

Be very careful not to strip the screws when trying to remove them. You can also call local phone repair shops and some will swap the battery for your smart watch.

You can always sideload required APK and try it out, grab an APK from here. Even though it shouldn't happen on Samsung phones at all, but who knows what's going on under the hood of that app.

The main benefits I can think of is only the email and sms apps on the watch that are linked to the Samsung versions of the corresponding apps.

Two possible solutions:

• Contact the FidMe Team and ask that they add the feature to their Tizen app.
• Use I Am Alive before starting FidMe app to keep screen on.

If seeing texts on your computer is the only reason you want to stick with Android Messages, then check out apps like Push Bullet. It should work with any text messaging app on your phone.

I bought this kit from Amazon, and watched this video over and over again until I felt confident enough to try it myself. I was really careful pulling the MOBO off so as to not break the ribbon cable. Then I used the blue plastic "spudger" to gently pry the battery from the MOBO. It's glued on there. It was a bitch to get the back panel off with the plastic "spudger" I got with the kit I bought. I'd recommend buying a kit with a metal "spudger".

Everything is working great again and I get 2.5 to 3.5 days off a charge like when it was new. #RightToRepair.

Barton Silicone Elite are great. Barton makes different types as well. Basically you can just search for any 22mm watch strap you like, though.

I'm in the same boat with my Gear S3. The sealant that Sammy used is nothing other than a precisely applied bead of booger glue. You know, the stuff they stick credit cards to letters with.

To those that said the S3 uses a gasket, that is simply not correct. There is no place for a gasket to go. If you look at the replacement backs, you can see that there is a strip of booger glue already applied and the space it occupies is too thin for a gasket.

This low adhesion hot-melt glue actually is capable of maintaining its shape and providing and excellent seal over the years. The problem comes when you open the case. If you're lucky, like I was the first time, the glue bead stays intact and you can seal the back again. The second time I was not so lucky and it tore in several places, leaving the electronics exposed to water.

I have been researching the best way to replace this seal. There may be a low-adhesion silicone that we could use, but the problem comes with the application. If you wait for it to set up hard after application, there is a chance that a gap or height variation would still allow water in. If you close the case while it is not cured, then it will squish out everywhere, and also glue your case shut, making further repairs very difficult.

That said, I'm going to risk it. I'm ordering this and this, and will use it to lay down a thin bead of silicone, then let it air-cure for a day or so before reattaching the case back. Should work fine, we'll see.

My recent experience recently is as follows:

Back in August my battery life went wonky. Sometimes I could get a full day. Sometimes it would be dead by 10AM.

Battery life was great for the first few days but then went back to barely making it through the day. Did a hard reset and now for the last 4 months the battery has been great. I charge it every night but it could easily go two or three days now.

I'm convinced it was a combo of my battery wearing out and something in the software causing issues.

I couldn't stand the silicone band that came with the watch, my wrist kept getting irritated!

While I didn't find any bands with a tapered width, I did find a nice looking metal band that is specifically designed to fill the gaps in the lugs. I've bought three or four different bands for the S3 and, aside from taking forever to attach the first time, this is the one I happily settled with - Amazon link.

The sale on Amazon, here, is good. I'd rather get a new one than some of these "open box" ones on eBay. Generally open box could mean floor model or a return and you never know what you're going to get. A lot of them don't seem to include Genuine chargers, so you're taking a risk there, too. Plus with new you'll get the full warranty and you're protected in case something goes wrong. If you do go via eBay, look for lightly used ones that include pictures of the whole unit, especially the screen (scratches).

I have Voice Memo installed on my Gear S3 and Samsung Voice Recorder installed on my Galaxy S8+. Voice Memo recordings on the watch are automatically copied to the Voice Recorder app on the phone.

I have an S10e and Gear S3 and I have downloaded 'Health Sync' from the Play store Link

I think it had a free trial then a one off purchase but its very reliable and will transfer all stats that you choose at set intervals throughout the day. I didn't notice a significant impact on battery life and I have it sync every 10mins.

It can also transfer historical data if you have been tracking using another app.

Yea i have a Nokia 8 and on its own it will never automatically connect to the s3. Just installed this as someone here recommended it.

If you already have a new battery I dont think it would make enough of a difference to bother, only like 20mah anyway. Most of the difference in battery life is probably just from it being new

Are you sure it's an original charger? I've seen people who get third party ones that don't work or get really hot like you describe. I personally wouldn't even try my watch on one that didn't have the embossed Samsung logo on the back like this

I have small wrists and I got used to the weight pretty quick, as others said get another watch band. I got this one a year ago and wear it daily. It's been in the ocean and pools. It's been on while I've done work on cars or in my shop. It's held up surprisingly well and I still get compliments on it occasionally. It gets scuffed, but you can usually rub it out with the oils in your skin, if not they just disappear after a while anyway. Also because the band is on the thicker side, it helps balance out the look and feel of the watch.
