It is unbelievably dense for how many features it lacks.
Ability to sort playlists? Searching within playlists?
The damn thing was almost unusable on my one m7 by the time the device hit two years. Music players shouldn't be that heavy.
Don't let me swipe songs to delete them from a playlist if you're going to use a hamburger menu within the app. Here's to all the songs I've found through your great service, but will never hear again because I was trying to get to the menu.
Why do I have to add every song that I intend to keep to my library, then again to a playlist? Just let us add entire playlists to our library.
If you want to use an alternative player for your All Access music, download your music with Music Mate.
You can use the MusicMate app on android to convert tracks downloaded from Google Play Music. The GPM files are in android/data/com.google. android.music. The converted files will be in android/media.com.sapien. android.musicmate. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate
I used music mate to download the music to my phone and blackplayer to play music. I am not sure of any players that allow you to play you play music account.
They're located under /data/data/com.google.android.music/files/music. But don't bother, cause those files are unplayable (and even if they were playable, you'd need root)
You could try this app, iirc unfortunately it's a paid app, but it can "transfer" your downloaded GPM music onto your SDcard so third party music players can play them. I haven't used it in a whole, so I don't know if it still works and it seems like it's been a while since it was updated.
I honestly rather download my music onto my computer and send it to my phone. You can just download music from iTunes or GPM, download a electronic copy to your computer and send via an app (I just use pushbullet)
A bit of extra work, but you can use Music Mate to download GPMAA songs in mp3 format. From there, just transfer to your laptop. With Music Mate, you can have it automatically download any new songs you add to a playlist.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate
You can also use Music Mate to download Google Play Music songs. It tags/renames them while downloading to a globally accessable directory. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate
I do something very similar... but using "Music Mate"... it takes care of the downloading from Play Music cloud and storing to SD Card... so you don't even need to cache to Play Music.
So, I upload all my stuff to Play Music... and then in Music Mate, select the stuff I want to store on the device and boom, it gets downloaded straight to SD Card (including tags and 'proper' filenames etc) and I'm free to use whatever music player I like (including Play Music).
Note: Music Mate is free to install, but has a 50 track limit... to unlock the full version it is US$3.99 via IAP.
I think what he's asking is to transfer music he's downloaded from GPMAA to another music player, like PowerAmp. If so, a few things.
Music you download through GPMAA (Google Play Music All-Access) does not download a file like your typical .mp3. It's an encoded file, meant to be used with GPMAA to decode the file and play it for offline use. I've read of two different ways to do what you're looking for:
There's an app called Music Mate, which says it can take cloud-based music from GPMAA and play it on any music player on your device.
There's also a root method you can use to extract the files and convert them to whatever extension you wish.
I've done neither of these methods, these are just answers I've searched. YMMV. Good luck!
Edit: I've run one of my playlists through Music Mate and then linked PowerAmp to that particular folder. It works flawlessly. Music, tags, album art, the whole shebang.
Also, if you download a new song and move it to a particular playlist, keep it checked in Music Mate. It'll automatically queue to download for use in PowerAmp.
Sure, it's an Android app you can find below
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate
Create a playlist in GPM and in music mate you can tell it to download the mp3's in that playlist to your phone (it's free up to 50 tracks) and then in the Samsung gear app transfer them across to your watch.
This app lets you download 50 songs for free. It hasn't been updated in a long time and it's slow and prone to crashing, but I've been using it for years and it still works for me. It's a major reason I've kept my GPM subscription. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate
I use MusicMate. The app can download music in my library. You can download by artist, album, song or playlist.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate
You have 2 options.
You can use the Music Mate app to convert them to a format playable by PowerAmp & other players. (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate) PS: just received the update to v3 of PowerAmp, regular version, not beta.
You can use Music Mate to download your Google Play Music files as properly tagged .mp3 files (including playlists and album covers). Those files can then be used in any music player app (including Samsung Music).

The reviews have made it sound like you have to load music onto the watch (mp3s?). I only listen to a short playlist (on repeat) while running, so it will fit my needs.
I subscribe to Google play music, so I can pull that playlist with music mate to then side load it onto the watch.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate
The app is called Music Mate; it costs $3.99, but it was worth every penny for me to be able to have all of my songs queued up and put on shuffle instead of having the 1000 song limit on playlists and queue. It lets you choose which playlists you want to download to your phone from your Google Play Music library, and the songs are all 320kbps. I haven't noticed any difference in audio quality between Google Play Music and the music that Music Mate downloads.
TBH, I have no idea where the app downloads the songs from or if it does it in a legal manner (I kinda feel like it has to be legal because it's been on the Play Store for a while), but I keep my subscription to Google Play Music active, so I feel like I'm just getting what I'm paying for in a different way.
Thanks man. I'll see if this works.
Edit: The app Music Mate solved this problem. Thank you again for helping me out though!
Music Mate on the app store
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate
Or
Also I used a service to transfer all my Playlists to Deezer, then used deezerdownloader.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate
I've used this app for years. Download the music locally first and then run it through for naming. Actually sad that this won't work with YouTube music.
You can use the Music Mate app from the Play Store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate) to convert your downloaded music from GPM format to the format used by pretty much every other player. You can also do this https://www.xda-developers.com/download-google-play-music-library/ to download all your music to mp3 format on your desktop, then copy it to your phone. It works perfectly with Poweramp.

Music Mate will convert your Google Play tracks into the format used by other players. Try a few albums to get the feel of it. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate
An alternative approach, which I use, is to use Musicmate to convert GPM to a format playable by my Poweramp (or other players). https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate&
Spotify seems to be the best if it works for you. Luckily it works for me and I've been enjoying the app more than GPM. I like their recommended playlists a lot better.
Sounds like Music Mate could be a decent alternative though, ~~but i couldn't find it in the Galaxy Store~~ it's in the Play Store
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate
both are technically available, with caveats. There is an app that you can install to be able to use Google Assistant. not quite as seamless as if it was natively integrated, but Ive heard it works alright.
As for music, the watch works just fine with google play music to control music.
if you want to download music for offline, you need a third party (paid) app call Music Mate that will download your google play music so that you can then upload it to your watch. The watch only holds so much, in fact I believe it limits you to 1GB for music. But thats enough for a decent amount.
Link for Music mate: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate&hl=en_US
I had the same problem a few years back. I have been using this app ever since:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate&hl=en
It can be a bit buggy but it let's you select all the music you want to download from you Play account. Give it a shot!
There is an app you can get which allows you to download mp3's from Google play music and then you transfer those to the watch. I was looking into this solution but in the end went with a wear os watch for Google assistant. Yes it is slow, yes it is buggy and GPM runs very slowly on it. But once you get as playlist going the music doesn't skip or anything.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate
You can download full playlist and transfer to the watch. It's a manual process but it works
You can use Music Mate to convert your downloaded GPM stuff to a form playable by most players. This opens up other options for getting album art.https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate
On the SD card, they will be in /Android/data/com.google.android.music/files/music (screenshot https://imgur.com/6xvJDpJ.jpg) and the filenames won't be recognizable. You can use the Music Mate app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate&hl=en&) to convert them to files with recognizable names and playable on other music players.
No, but there's an app that can download songs or playlists from play music and you can transfer to the watch. It's definitely not as convenient, but it works pretty well.
You can use Music Mate to download songs directly to your unrooted phone. The first 50 songs are free and afterwards you pay about 5 dollars to unlock unlimited downloads.
not that i'm aware of without rooting. did you try uninstalling/clearing data/cache? music mate works fine on my s8.
are you using the right one?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate&hl=en
It's far from a free solution, but I've found one that I enjoy and that works well. Requirements:
An Android phone with enough space for these 200 songs
The ability to move files off of this phone
$4 USD to spend
I know it's far from a solution, but if all else fails I can attest to having a good experience with the following app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate&hl=en
Sorry for digging up a month old topic but if you're still looking for a good solution to this, I would recommend using the Music Mate app to play GPM with third party players. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate
Use Music Mate instead. It's basically the same thing except it doesn't require root and is on the Play Store. It lets you download all of your music from Google Music (yes, even if you have a subscription...).
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate&hl=en
I'm surprised so many Google Play Music subscribers don't know about Music Mate (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate)
The app loads your GPM library and you put a check next to the ones you want to download and it will download a file of it that can be read by other music players. I assume Poweramp can read them, I used Shuttle+ and it can. I pay for GPM, used Music Mate to download files (including ones not uploaded by me), and Shuttle+ as my regular media player, it's awesome.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate&hl=en I use this to download music from Google play Music for use in a different player, or you could pin albums within the mobile app to download for offline play. If you are trying to put music onto Google Play Music with the music manager, make sure you have whatever folders you have music in added to the manager. Pinning the songs downloads the mp3s onto your phone, but in a specific 'google' location, Music Mate actually downloads regular, useable mp3s into a selected folder.
Music Mate will convert google files to ones playable by common music players. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate
MusicMate lets you download the music on to your device, then you could play it on any music player.
Use an app called Music Mate,it allows export of GPM, very smooth app as well
Musicmate. Links to your Google Play Music and lets you download the exact file complete with metadata.
One way of downloading your "pinned" Google play all access music:
Music Mate
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate
Musicmate. Shhhhhhhhh...
Don't they also match quality for anything we upload ourselves too?
Similar to play music exporter is also Music Mate https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate
Are you referring to this Music Mate? I am, and it works for Google Play Music pretty well.
Then use this app instead.
Music Mate just updated the other day for me. Maybe that's why it was briefly down. Try now
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate
There is already an other app with same name: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate
I use to use Song Spout but was unreliable. If you're on Android, I highly recommend Music Mate:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate&hl=en
There is Music Mate which lets you download your music so it can be played in any app.
Music Mate claims to be able to do this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate
It's a paid app but you can move 50 songs free to test it.
And you can convert your Google Play files to ones playable by these other players with the MusicMate app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate
You can download songs from Google Play Music using the app Music Mate: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate
Music Mate will convert downloaded Google music files to a format usable by most other players. Don't know about Amazon. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate
No.
You can however get Music Mate and download GPM songs and transfer them to the watch in the Galaxy Wearable App.
To convert music downloaded from Google Play, so you can play it in any player, you can use the Music Mate app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate
It is on the Google Play store, yes.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate
Music Mate can download your entire library to your device, meaning you could play it on whatever player you want.
What's the difference between that and music mate then
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate
Music match allows me to export my songs from Google play music. I bet Spotify has an equivalent.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate
Musicmate. Links to your Google Play Music and lets you download the exact file and use it in another music player.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate
Its extra steps but this is a solution.
Try Music Mate.
This app is one of my favorites. Have your cake and eat it too. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sapien.android.musicmate
Currently I'm using Google Play Music All Access coupled with the Music Mate app from the Play Store, which allows me to download my GPM library as MP3's. Since I personally can't stand the GPM user interface, I use either Phonograph or Poweramp with the beautiful Now Card UI skin to listen to my library.
Or you can use Music Mate to download your Google Play library as mp3s. No root needed.
Have you ever tried Music Mate? It converts GPM playlists to .mp3 files so you can use them with PowerAmp, GoneMAD, etc.
