Find an older android tablet or smartphone with an IR blaster. Download a universal remote app that you can customize.(https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.twinone.irremote) I used an old samsung tablet to access the main menu and access the service menu (to check if it worked I have no idea what I'm doing in there) on my 32" Sony Wega. The app had tons of preset custom remotes for all kinds of TV's.
I used to use a smart remote app from Twinone. I remember it being fine, I just wanted something simple. I don't think it was a battery drain, but I haven't used it in a long time.
I miss what we had before they replaced it with Peel! Now I use Universal TV Remote by Twinone on my HTC One M8. Here is the link - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.twinone.irremote&hl=en
For stock Android 11 it seems to be ZaZa Remote (com.tiqiaa.icontrol was for Android 10), but I would look for something else. It has a lot of background activity connects to half the internet and requires many permissions. For some reason it disapeard from Play Store. I use IR Remote. It's quite outdated, but works just fine.
How is gsi rom working for you? I had many problems running it in the past (headphones not working, radio not working, LED blinking irregularly, stuttering while scrolling, some process taking 7% CPU at all times). Did things improve?
I'm a huge fan of Universal TV Remote from Twinone. Lots of devices in their programming library, and it supports extensive customization, including having buttons for multiple devices on a single screen. Been using it for years and I can't imagine ever replacing it!
I see one here called Universal TV Remote by Twinone.

I have LineageOS 14.1 on my LG G4, I use many Google Apps like Keep instead of QMemo & I use a universal TV Remote app from the Google Play Store ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.twinone.irremote ).
Also, since video recording doesn't work on the stock "Snapdragon Camera" app I use Google Camera as well..

It's dead simple to use and isn't as bloated as Peel.

It has pretty much everything the stock app had and more.
IR Remote, simple with not that much features but it does what you want it to do: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.twinone.irremote&hl=fr

This app can use the IR blaster to learn the code from the original remote. Pretty handy.
