WAY too much money you can get one for $50 that works just as well!!!

Thanks for the reply. The version number is 4.19, this is what ultimately got Fortnite to 60FPS on console. Not saying this will get PUBG to 60FPS just hoping you guys will use it since it should benefit the game. I am going to link the blog post on the update: https://www.unrealengine.com/en-US/blog/unreal-engine-4-19-released
Also it is good to hear Microsoft is helping you guys. Thanks for the amazing game and great work. Ps: keep clothes spawns off. ;)

plug it in to one of your Xbox USB outlets. It will come with a USB cord.
when you plug it in it will ask if you want to format it, select yes.
on the xbox, go to settings-> storage. find the SSD device. and move all of the PUBG files there.
Here is one that my squad and I have zero issues with. Works like a charm.

Not sure what conflicting answers you speak of.
Any modern/new SSD of 256GB or more will suffice. Whether that's an internal or external is up to you. An internal will need an adapter that transfers it's connection to USB 3.
Name brands MAY last longer than a cheap off brand, but the data in test results doesn't really support that. I use an external Samsung T5 but only because I got it for a birthday present. Most of my friends have Amazon specials that cost far less and so far have given the same results in PUBG.

The game was built on Unreal Engine 4. It is simply running on a prior version. It is possible (perhaps not trivial) to upgrade the core engine as part of a patch or version upgrade of the game. It's not like they would be porting it to a different engine.
The improvements in the new version were developed for Fortnite and will help any game like it. Check out this article: https://www.unrealengine.com/en-US/blog/unreal-engine-improvements-for-fortnite-battle-royale
Granted, given PUBG Corp's track record, that sort of upgrade would probably introduce a lot more bugs that would take time to squash, but I'm convinced that PUBG performance on all XBOX consoles would benefit from it.
I got a PNY 240GB SSD and just a basic External SSD enclosure, both from my local Best Buy. The enclosure was pretty cheap and i could have probably found it even cheaper on amazon or something but i didn’t want to wait for shipping.
Also: Microsoft says that the Xbox one requires the external drive to be 256GB or more to work, but it’s not true. Like i said, mines a 240GB and it works just fine. At Best Buy, the 240GB was $70 and the 480GB was $130, so it just depends on how much you want to pay.
Edit: I paid like $25 at Best Buy on my enclosure but here’s one on amazon for $10 link
Sure! Here you go! Amazon link and a link to a reviews website that breaks it all down.

The tools to open the controller.
On mobile, having trouble linking more. Search Amazon for "E-MODS Gaming new bumpers triggers LB RB for Xbox One". There is a menu to select the style you want.
Here is a video tutorial I used.. I had trouble attaching the bumpers to the home button plate, then inserting into controller, in the way he shows in the video. Every time I snapped them together then tried inserting the full piece back into the controller, the bumpers would tilt out of place. So instead, I first dropped the bumpers straight into place in the controller, then carefully slid the home button plate over them and snapped it into place.
Disassembling the controller, some of the plastic feels rigid like it may break, but you should be fine. I had to remove the home button plate multiple times after the bumpers gave me problems, each time fearing the plate would break, but it was fine.
I bought a Samsung off amazon for like 120. Maybe coulda done better shopping around but i trust the name and it’s working great.
Samsung T5 Portable SSD - 250GB - USB 3.1 External SSD (MU-PA250B/AM) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073H552FK?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf
Don't spend 90 bucks on a 240gb. You can get a 256 for sub 60 on Amazon. This works perfectly.
I just bought a Samsung 500gb SSD from Amazon for around 125. Plug and play with just a quick format. I also have the 2tb segate xbox hd. I moved PUBG from the segate to the Samsung and it us night and day difference loading into the spawn map and having buildings render on Miramar
Me and a buddy both have X's and my buildings are rendered while in the plane or right after I jump while his area is still bare until he almost touches down
This is what I just bought. https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-T5-Portable-SSD-MU-PA500B/dp/B073GZBT36/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1531241434&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=samsung+ssd+500gb&dpPl=1&dpID=318I0KrjRKL&ref=plSrch
I think we can all agree that we shouldn't have to buy an SSD for the game to run properly. The level streaming, especially on Miramar, is still a major pain point for this game, and I totally get people's frustration. We would all prefer that PUBG Corp. get the game to a point where all of the levels load in properly.
With that said, if you're more interested in solutions than in complaining, an SSD is the solution at this time. This WD Blue 250GB SSD is just $52.49 US on Amazon right now, and this tool-free enclosure can be had for $9.99 US. 250GB is plenty of space for PUBG and any other game that you're actively playing, and will decrease load times for pretty much any game, and resolve the level streaming issues for PUBG.
I honestly think the Xbox One X should have come with an SSD to start with, even if it meant sticking with 500GB internal storage. But as it is, the internal drive on the One X is only marginally faster than that of the OG Xbox One, and is not enough to make up the difference for PUBG. The trend I've seen lately is longer load times for more and more games, so getting an SSD is going to only make more and more sense.
I can't say enough good things about the LucidSound LS35X wireless headset that was recommended to me by someone right here on the sub.

I got these when my Turtle Beach Xbox Stealth 700 headset mic started crapping out.
These work wirelessly with the Xbox as soon as you turn them on, with no setup or dongles or anything. The battery life is great and the audio is superb.
But make sure you set your Xbox audio to Stereo (instead of Windows sound or whatever it is). PUBG only has stereo sound.

Here’s a link talking about he drop rate %. keep in mind this is for PC. not sure of the numbers for Xbox, but none the less i believe each item to be set by the team.
Not in all cases and it varies by game but high ping players a lot of times get a delay advantage. It's baked into the code since quake engine and it has to be there. Gow its implemented and tuned Is up to devs hence why some games are worse offenders.
Unreal engine I know (which pubg is) but unreal engine was derived from the quake engine.
Ok I posted this as a reply before, but for anyone who hasn't seen it and who is playing on wifi because they have no feasible way of connecting an ethernet to their router from where their xbox is, your issue has been solved!
Buy a tp link. This little guy plugs into your wall, it has ethernet ports for you to plug into. One is used on your xbox, another connects to your router. The signal is then sent through the powerline. It works amazingly and is only $40 for a starter kit on amazon. There is no excuse other than ignorance that you are playing on wifi.
Here. These are decent drives, I have 4 I use in a couple servers and my desktop. Total is under 60 if you’re in the US. Even cheaper if you have amazon prime.

All what big talk? Here is one that's current. May have to wait for a deal, but some of us don't mind if it doubles the value. https://slickdeals.net/f/11467039-500gb-hp-s700-2-5-sata-iii-3d-nand-internal-solid-state-drive-ssd-99-99-free-shipping-ebay?src=SiteSearchV2Algo1
If you wait for a deal there are decent $100 500 gigs that pop on up weekly on my deal forum. There was a 256 a little over a week ago for like 57 I believe.
I'm a little unclear on this but will ask around to see what I can find. In the meantime, there's a spot in their forums where you can report a player for a variety of reasons. I believe team killing falls under a "Breach of the Rules of Conduct". I don't know if they're reviewing reports for Xbox yet, but it couldn't hurt to try if you've got a clip saved.

Sorry dont have all day to explain everything...
Like u/wahwahwaaaaah noted, enclosures for SSDs are pretty cheap. Amazon has a few for less than $10, one of which I purchased and am very happy with. They connect via USB to any of the USB slots on the Xbox.

I live in NJ and just ordered this one off Amazon. Big difference, buildings render faster. I liked this one because it was just plug and play, came with the cord, plugs directly into back of XBOX USB port. Some of the others you need to buy and additional part called an “enclosure” because I guess they are made to go inside a PC

Had the same problem. I bought a bracket on amazon made by “Humancentric”. Installation was a breeze and he can’t get to it anymore. The Samsung 860 Evo is probably the best on the market in its price range:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B078WQJXNF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_XmT-Ab9B5MN9F
For around £10-15 more than the cheapest, I feel it’s worth the extra for it’s almost guaranteed reliability. But it’s hardly faster (if at all) than the cheaper £55-60 ones. Any SSD is better than no SSD.
250GB gets you at least 4 of your favourite games installed on it. No need for larger in my opinion, prices are constantly reducing anyway.
You just need a USB 3.0 2.5” SATA enclosure. Many other people have been linking them here. Should cost no more than £5-10.
Does it work? Yes. So much evidence on this sub alone. Most retailers such as Amazon will refund it no problem if you’re not happy anyway.
Best Buy has them (US). Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Extreme-500-Portable-250GB-SDSSDEXT-250G-G25/dp/B06WGPCW5L
Short USB cord comes with it. Connect it with your XB turned off. Start up XB, format for games in XB, and transfer PUBG to the SSD in Manage Game menu.
I bought this cheap 4K monitor and actually love it. I came from playing on a 52" 1080 TV. I don't have a X so i'm just playing in 1080 for now but This has made a night and day difference for being able to see people for me. I can now actually see people in windows in far away buildings an poking out around trees.

I’m sure it’s not the best out there but my Xbox recognizes it as 4K over a 25 foot cable without issue. Some amazon reviewers noted that had some dead pixels but mine was perfect. It has some good outside reviews on YouTube as well.
I think the biggest complaint i saw while researching was that the brightness left something to be desired but I mainly play in a darker room or at night and it hasn’t been an issue for me.
Only adjustments I made was to put it on FPS mode and I think I put the color temp on cool.
Can’t beat $200 for a 4K monitor. And if you hate it just return it to amazon.
This one is $29. Just go to amazon and select 240 gig or higher and sort by lowest price. Only other thing you need is the wire to connect it.
I don’t use an ssd with my 1X, but, here’s one I found on amazon 240 GB SSD I think it needs to be 256+ to work with the Xbox though
You can get a decent one on amazon

I went with the ADATA SD600 256gb for $50 on Amazon. That's the minimum size allowed when formatting to use for the Xbox, but I only really wanted it for PUBG, so it's done me just fine. Buildings and weapons load like lightning no matter what map or mode, I couldn't be happier. I've got it plugged into the rear USB of an Xbox One S, and it's been a complete 180 from playing on my old OG Xbox One with its internal HD. I highly recommend the switch.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XRXRXF2?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
There's 240-256 GB internal SSDs on Amazon for under $50. You'd need an enclosure for them but a few of my friends have gone this route and I haven't heard any complaints.

One friend for sure bought this one:

He spent under $50 for the SSD and enclosure combined.

He says buildings are rendered seconds after leaving the plane and the current freeze ups in the beginning of the match are about a split second long and only happen once or twice. Can confirm, this sounds identical to the performance of my way more expensive Samsung T5 external.

Of note: YMMV with 240 GB drives. I've heard most work but I've also heard of some not. It depends on how much storage is available to the user (this might be able to be formatted on a PC before hooking to Xbox, but I've never done it).

If you're willing to spend money but don't want to reduce available space due to limited slots this was what I bought to upgrade from having 2x 2Tb external hard drives.
Samsung T5 Portable SSD - 500GB - USB 3.1 External SSD (MU-PA500B/AM) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073GZBT36/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_1E8SCbJVJBRNQ
Considering it costs 100$ just for a 500Gb, I definitely wasn't about to buy a 2Tb. So instead I bought this too.
Silicon Power 4TB Rugged Portable External Hard Drive Armor A60, Shockproof USB 3.1 Gen 1 for PC, Mac, Xbox and PS4, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GFDRFSR/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_qJ8SCb6H93SBR
For another 100$ I bought this 4Tb, for 30$ more you can buy 5Tb. Easily beats paying 350$ for a 2Tb SSD as long as you just put games that need the boost on the SSD and dump the rest on the regular external.
USB-C is not the variant you want for Xbox. The one you want is:

I have this one. Only thing is you have to get a sata to usb cable. Most of my friends run ssd as well and I’m usually the first one to load everything. Anyways works perfect for me and at that price you can’t beat it
Not a stupid question at all. It does plug in via a 3.1 USB (which is include).Samsung Portable SSD T5 (500GB)
Lucidsound LS35X. I went from the Stealth 600 to the Stealth 700, but when I got the LS35X I was so much happier. Skip the middle step bro.

This is the enclosure I have. Per your post, perhaps put the LED light side down if you don't want to look at it(or search amazon and pick a different one).
Plug in SSD to enclosure, plug into xbox, xbox will ask to format, format for games, move PUBG to external SSD. Make sure it is not just copied but moved, so it is for sure running from the SSD.

You are ok with people cheating, that isn't really that uncommon. Most people cheat to get ahead. I'll gladly champion the people that try to challenge themselves.

Plug SSD into enclosure, plug USB from enclosure into Xbox, it will ask to format for games or media, select games. Then make sure to transfer the game files from internal xbox memory to your new external drive.
Done Deal $44 plus tax.
I put Red Dead Redemption 2 on there too for faster load times.
I have this one, which is currently on sale. It works well.
Edit: And make sure it's an SSD (solid state drive) and NOT and HDD (hard disk drive), otherwise you're just wasting money if you want to improve load times.
You could also buy an internal SSD and an enclosure and assemble them yourself for much less. As easy as plugging a cable into a port, I believe. Pretty much anything that's 256 GB or more will work.
Got this when it was all on sale.

I liked the idea of the Fps Dominator until I found out you could use it for Mods and such, Personally I think if you are looking for a budget option the PowerA Fusion controller is the way to go. Thing has 2 built in buttons on the back (set mine to lean left and right) and it's cheaper that a normal controller on amazon. A lot of people also don't know about this one which blows my mind because its so much cheaper than everything else that does the same thing. https://www.amazon.com/PowerA-Fusion-Controller-Xbox-One-Black/dp/B01KMAYANU/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1541429441&sr=8-3&keywords=xbox+fusion+controller

fairly cheap but slightly better brand
Then just search amazon for an enclosure for ssd or for internal 2.5 drive. Lots of cheap but good enclosures.

I bought this cheap 4K monitor and actually love it:
SCEPTRE 27 Inch IPS Ultra 4K LED Monitor U278W-4000R, UHD 3840x2160, HDMI 2.0 DVI DisplayPort Speakers, Metallic Black (2017) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073DPBJ7Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_1dbrBbTQVGA34
I just got a SSD for my OG Xbox one and now the buildings all load a couple seconds after jumping out of the plane. Made a HUGE difference for me when it comes to loading time and rendering!

And then a $10 External case for it, BOOM!
I wasn't a fan of the rear paddles at all. I picked up the Scuf Elite paddles and they make a world of difference.
I used to get network connection errors on my Xbox on my 5g wifi. I switched to using Powerline Adapter and now I have a wired connection and no longer have the issue.

I’ve used this adapter with my Wired Beats studio for years on Xbox. Voice chat works just fine with it.

I ended up going with this one when I built my PC. Work wonderfully for PC and Xbox. https://www.amazon.com/Razer-RZ04-02050400-R3U1-Kraken-Pro-Playstation/dp/B06Y3YN2C8/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1529440030&sr=1-4&keywords=razer+kraken
NBA 2k load times have always been terrible for me since they introduced MyPark in like 2k16 or 15 even on Xbox one X 2k18 loading a my career game took forever.
I bought the below two things for around $60 and it's actually much faster now:
SSD: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075RJS55D/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
USB 3.0 Exclosure: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OJ3UJ2S/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I've had these for 6 months. Not the best but they work fine with pubg and they are only 35 bucks. Solid light pair that have average sound.
This right here is all you need. No enclosure easy set up, Plug in format and go. Maybe 1 out of 100 games will be unrendered. And it's on sale. I bout a used one myself for 83 about 2 months ago and havnet had trouble since. https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-T5-Portable-SSD-MU-PA250B/dp/B073H552FK/ref=sr\_1\_3?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1529095775&sr=1-3&keywords=external+Samsung+SSD&refinements=p\_n\_feature\_three\_browse-bin%3A14027458011

If money isn't an issue for you these are probably the best money can buy you right now:

SSD $59.50 Enclosure $8.99 I have this setup myself on original xbox, works great.
Just a random ebay enclosure from China. Most people get this one
Sabrent 2.5-Inch SATA to USB 3.0 Tool-free External Hard Drive Enclosure [Optimized For SSD, Support UASP SATA III] Black (EC-UASP) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OJ3UJ2S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_TwD8AbK2JWZKA
This comes with everything you need:
SanDisk Extreme 500 Portable SSD 500GB SDSSDEXT-500G-G25 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01NB1IJ7J?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf
I have an OG Xbox One and no longer have any rendering issues. Just make sure once you set up the drive on your Xbox, you transfer PUBG (and the test server, if you play it!) to the SSD.
The 250GB model is $50 less, but I had to really mess around with it to get it to work on my Xbox (possibly because it’s under the stated storage capacity minimum (256GB) on the Xbox to use an SSD for storing games).
I ended up getting:
Samsung 860 EVO 2.5" SATA III 500GB Internal SSD (MZ-76E500B/AM) https://www.amazon.ca/Samsung-500GB-Internal-MZ-76E500B-AM/dp/B0781Z7Y3S/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1525567267&sr=1-3&keywords=SSD+evo+860
With enclosure:
ORICO 2588US3 Tool Free Screw-Less USB 3.0 2.5-inch External Hard Drive Enclosure Adapter Case for HDD SSD SATA Drive - Black https://www.amazon.ca/ORICO-2588US3-Screw-Less-2-5-inch-Enclosure/dp/B00IWOZAAQ/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_229_bs_t_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=KPJ4QXV2BX203KN7X2HV
Just like the guy who posted his setup before me, I 10/10 recommend. Its actually insane how much of difference it makes
Had to buy the enclosure separately but it includes the cable. I got mine from ebay but this one seems like the most popular one in this sub.
Sabrent 2.5-Inch SATA to USB 3.0 Tool-free External Hard Drive Enclosure [Optimized For SSD, Support UASP SATA III] Black (EC-UASP) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OJ3UJ2S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_TwD8AbK2JWZKA
I went with this one from SadDisk But you really can't go wrong as long as you get a Solid State Drive (SSD), it is at a minimum 240GB, and supports usb 3.0. If you get an internal SSD you need to by an adapter that supports usb 3.0. Anything smaller than 240GB and xbox won't recognize the drive as game storage and won't format it correctly to store games, it will only let you store music and movies and those types of files.

Seagate drive works like a charm
Just curious, which one did you get? I got this one.
I should re-note that the SSD was a huge improvement for my OG Xbox One. I don't have an S, but it's funny because I bought the OG and then the Scorpio Edition, and I gave that to my son. When we play pubg together, he always brags that his loads first. Yesterday was my first day with the SSD, and he complained every game because I was loading faster---and he tried to get me to give him the SSD for the Scorpio.
I refused.
Crap, I think I messed up. Did you guys mean you buy the SSDs you'd install in desktops or this? : Seagate Expansion 2TB Portable External Hard Drive USB 3.0 (STEA2000400) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TKFEE5S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_gAR.Ab5TB46XZ
