Nah, the cat was already self-aware.
Problem is that the mirror test isn't a good measurement for self-awareness, despite the proclamations by the test's authors. It makes various biased assumptions about how self-awareness works.
LPT: You can buy the inside bits by themselves (e.g. these ones). It can be a lot cheaper than buying them with the case. I don't even bother with the case, I just use the "refills" by themselves.
That is my Bertram! Catit Senses 2.0 Self Groomer
I would recommend getting additional wall stickies, it did not stay on the wall with the ones provided.
Getting him this would be perfect while entertaining guests
It’s a theragun, it’s used in physical therapy to relax and loosen tight stiff muscles. I consider them a godsend. Here’s an amazon link so you can check them out, if you like.
On the personal massager note, I don’t have personal experience with using it for masturbation, but I think I’d have to lean toward the don’t, no seriously it’s a bad idea side.
Cats are already self-aware, but the mirror test makes many broken assumptions about self-awareness in the first place.
Many human children from certain cultures fail the mirror test, so it can't be an objective measurement.
You may want to try a feeding mat, also called a snuffle mat. It makes the dogs play for for their food by having to find it all.
It also helps get piles of food off the ground.
oh boy do i have some good news for you! these bread shaped ones are my personal favorite. the review photos are a goldmine.

ATTENTION CAT OWNERS:
This behavior is normal and preventable etc... But if you purchase your kitty a calming collar be warned the chemicals/essential oils in the collar will burn and seriously injure your cat's mouth if it gets stuck like this. Example of one such collar:
The photos are a bit gross so be warned.
Please be attentive to make sure your pet's collar is properly fitted and if it can't be, just take it off; Find another solution. It's not worth the pain and suffering of your pet. Also note that even when properly fitting a chemical collar, your pet may be sensative to it and may experience an allergic reaction or similar discomfort.
Edit: I know there has been interest in getting this product (and similar products) removed from the market because of the serious and potentially fatal complications of it. Please don't use this product. Please warn others.
My fiancé is like this. Then one day, we saw a plastic thingy on Shark Tank that instantly transforms you into a pack mule. He was ordering it online with in 5 seconds.
Live your pack mule dreams without ruining your fingers!
Do you live in the US?
I don't, but have gotten the impression that unsecured dogs is the norm there.
Anyway, you use something like this. Or a nice crate.
I've heard somewhere that a crate is safer, but I've got no idea why. We use a crate which we've secured with the seatbelt running through it. He's very calm during rides and being left in the car alone.
The hippo isn’t the best made toy or anything. My pup has just decided to not destroy it for some reason, but here’s the link if you’re still interested.
and I appreciate the suggestions! I’ll definitely look into them! I’m always on the hunt for strong dog toys. The best one I’ve found so far is this . My dog loves it and despite his best efforts hasn’t been able to shred it.
That's understandable. My humidifer is made to be used with essential oils. I think the main difference between cool-mist diffusers and humidifers is water capacity.
I'm glad you spoke up about essential oils and cats. If they had lemon oil in that thing it could be very bad.
A lot of cats prefer to drink running water, it's why I got one of those fountain bowls for my cats.
Cats are really built to get most of their water from their food and are bad about actually drinking water and that can cause some serious kidney problems. And since cats are also hardwired to hide pain unless they're literally dying, a lot of owners won't even know anything is wrong until their cat is already in renal failure. So it's generally best to pander to a cat's pickiness about how/what kind of water they're willing to drink, even if it seems weird/ridiculous. Giving them wet food on a regular basis is also a good way to reduce the chances of kidney-related kitty death.
That got very gloomy 😰 sorry about that. I'm just the type to yell about kitty care cuz I had a friend lose a kitten to renal failure because she didn't know this stuff and I don't want anyone else to have to go through that.

...Also, Marnie's Instagram.
You’re technically wrong, but I guess if you mean patches that actually fix things in a timely fashion... fine, I guess I’ll give you that.

There is the Breeze system. It uses pellets which REALLY cuts down on the scatter+the few that do are very easy to clean up, rather than having to vacuum litter.
^this, my parents were involved in a 45mph crash, everyone survived apart from the old labrador in the back seat of the Vauxhall Astra that hit them in the back.. poor thing got launched through the windscreen and broke it's spine ;(
I made my (old and fussy) pup wear a harness that clipped into the seat belt lock thingy-ma-jig ever since..
Imagine getting hit by a 100lb unsecured dog sitting behind you at 45mph... according to the web its a force of 51565lbs https://www.omnicalculator.com/physics/car-crash-force. which is 23.4 metric tons for our Euro friends.
Not one to lecture but I prefer pups over people and don't want to see the poor little sods hurt without need. :P
This is what we use as well for our chewer lol. We have went through several beds and a kong bed and he's destroyed a lot, but these wubba's, or anything made out of fire hose are pretty resilient.
If you are looking for a chew that's 'long lasting' I have found these. Generally if your dog is a major chewer you want to stay away from rawhide. They can chip of pieces quickly without them getting soft from their saliva, and it can be sharp on their insides. :D Try and look for things that don't have rawhides if your puppo goes through things quickly. The ones I linked are what I use for my dog and they last a good 15-20 minutes. (Before I knew about the rawhide thing, he would go through a rawhide bone in less time and it would be broken into pieces like I mentioned above.)
Hope you have fun with your friend and enjoy having a dobie. They are one of the best companions out there. Smart, quirky, and always giving you a laugh.
It looks like it could be a hands free dog leash, sort of like this one.

I used motion tracking to fix the text in place in the scene. It looks like it took a lot of work, but it took 25 minutes thanks to motion tracking. It would have took a lot less time if I hadn't animated every frame.
I will try and throw together a little video tutorial soon.

My wife and I got one for our dog for this exact reason, he likes it and it kinda helps. We still have to sit with him and calm him down but its not as bad
Oh they are great! We have different colors for each person so it’s easy to keep things sorted. We have these TravelWise Luggage Packing Organization Cubes 5 Pack, Black, 2 Small, 2 Medium, 1 Large https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B08XDPCH46/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_K5TZNVYJ95KB19D853PB?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 but there are lots of similar ones. We also have some compression ones but I only like to use those for really bulky things like snow gear because otherwise your suitcase will be crazy heavy.
We had a small dog who loved the labels/tags on his toys more than the toys themselves.
I found a mini baby blanket for him; has little tags sewn all around the edges. He LOVED his taggies blanket.
Cat might appreciate something like this. Link goes to the blanket, and the company also makes plush toys with extra tags, as well:

I think you could get away with the 6mm rope on offer just fine, the thicker rope seems to pull apart easier which isn't necessarily what you want. Or something else comparable (this isn't sponsored or anything)!
I bought one for my dogs a few weeks back. They don’t like when the water touches their paws 😔
Do you mean one of those fancy chairs that recline really far or this thing? If the latter, would you recommend it? I'm looking for something like that. I got this and that's working ok, but it needs to be against a wall.

I got mine on Amazon (UK) a couple of years ago. Just checked and it's still there but cheaper now!
I got it off of amazon. It’s the outward hound life vest. Here’s the link: Outward Hound Dawson Dog Life Jacket https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N5DW8BK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_2N4zBb43B4AE4
It seems to work well. He was very nervous about going into water (he would jump In and then panic a bit) so we got him the life vest and he seems way more confident. Safety first! Haha.

Aww but at least the doggo loved his time at the park. RIP that poor sweater though. 😆 Perhaps you could get a carseat cover or cargo liner? Here's an example of what I mean on Chewy's site, though there are lots of other options for both the cover as well as other sites. I got a similar one, mostly to protect my dog from sliding off the seat, but the protection for the seats certainly is a nice bonus and beats using old blankets in which scents tend to linger more. And the one I got still got holes through it to connect a doggy seatbelt.
Want something like it for half the price? Buy this shell in the colour of your choice, fill it with this memory foam. You'll use less than 20# of the 30# bag for a 6'-7' bed, so you can sell the rest or use it as filler for your pets' beds. 10# bags typically go for $100-$200 on Amazon, so you might do well on the secondary market. ♡ Granny
It looks a LOT like this one
I have three and my dogs LOVE them, but I have to give them away because for SOME REASON one of my cats thinks they’re backup litter boxes. 😑
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LWUJ5PQ?pd_rd_i=B01LWUJ5PQ&pf_rd_p=424785d2-553c-4023-a368-1b6acfe2c2f8&pf_rd_r=GWDZFAGDVZB15BFY1BS3&pd_rd_wg=QR9mu&pd_rd_w=Bb4nE&pd_rd_r=f9a58a9f-bc35-4ec0-8ad2-dfca40b11c8d. Try something like this! It works pretty well for getting a bird to stop before they run into the glass!
It's coded to the individual cat's microchip, so that the clear plastic cover only opens if it detects the "right" cat(s).
They are... not cheap. But if you have a "food thief cat" and another cat that's under-eating, it's awesome.

No idea why you got downvoted before! Called teaser poles or flirt poles. Don’t get the extendable or folding ones, they break. My dog is not very aggressive, catches it and lets go immediately for a treat but this particular pole survived my crazy foster pup! https://www.chewy.com/outward-hound-tail-teaser-refill-dog/dp/50955
they make a mix if you want to save some money. I've made these before and to me they were just as good as what you'd get at the restaurant.
I got it on amazon a while ago, don’t remember how much it was, but this is something similar and I have it for years already, so it’s worth buying it laptop stand
Syrian hamsters should have about a 10 inch wheel at minimum. Basically, you want them to be completely straight and able to stretch out when they run. You don't want them to have to bend their backs with the wheel, it's super uncomfortable at best, and can cause spinal problems at worst.
This is the wheel I have for my hamster
You can also find used ones for cheap on facebook marketplace or offer up :)
You should watch Victoria Raechel on youtube. She has loads info and advice :)
You can get something like this that is a little gentler if you are worried about pulling too hard on the tiny dog. It isn't a muzzle it just works a little gentler by going around the dog's snout. My little guy HATED it but boy does it stop him from pulling instantly. We walked him with that everyday for a few weeks, then with that and his harness for a week, then both but with the leash hooked to the harness for a week, then just the harness and he almost completely stopped pulling.
It's been years since we did that and only recently has he started to get a little pull-y and I've warned him that I'm going to have to dig it out if he keeps it up.
I think this might be it. I have a similar one, my cat loves it but it seems the one in the video is a little easier to drink from.
The fountains have saved my sanity, because she refuses to drink from a bowl without splashing and tipping it over. She will also delicately climb on top of the fountain and stand on it to get my attention when it breaks (not often, and easy to fix).
I got this one, so my cats would have some variety to choose from - they love all of the rotating balls, but have shown zero interest in the yellow bump-looking thing:
The catnip balls I found on Amazon has a few types. There’s catnip, silverside, and gallfruit. Your cat might like one of the other two! https://www.amazon.com/Potaroma-Silvervine-Catnip-Healthy-Cleaning/dp/B09GB4TVGD

This is a Goughnut dog toy. It's more squishy than most of the "tough" toys out there but now that I think about it, it's one of the few that has remained undamaged so far. That said, unless he's doing stuff like this, he doesn't chew this one as much.
His favorite ones to chew are the Monster K9 dog toys. I won't say he's never made a dent in them but the damage has been minor and he chews them all the time. They also have a lifetime replacement guarantee, so if he ever does destroy one at least we'll get a new one.
this looks like a pretty similar thing. I don't have it though. Not sure if it works as well.

How about putting the printer in one of thoses large wire dog kennels?
A lightweight piece of wood over the top would her her a place to sit or lay down. Or clear plasic/acrylic so she can look through it.
I was impressed with it's quality! But it doesn't dampen the noise. I've got a Creality CR-6 SE and I got the small one. I've got a mod that holds the Spool of filament on top, and there's a top flap that allows the Spool to stick out, but if I had the room I would have bought the next size up because it's a little tight inside.

This works amazingly well. The squirrels keep to the one feeder and scrounge on the ground under the others and we have more birds than ever before. I love seeing them all hanging out together, it makes me feel like Snow White.

One downside of this design is that if the power goes out, all the water will drain down and can't be reached. So make sure that you provide alternative water if there's an outage.

Maybe it was the tap water 🤷🏽♀️ but one of our cats was developing a sore on her lip (vet called it kitty acne) until we figured it out and stopped using it
It’s pricey to do, but I got two different fountains and two different litter boxes. I have two cats so the recommendation is two boxes anyway, and just like people, sometimes they prefer one over the other for their own reasons. I have an open and an enclosed litter box (they seem to love open pees and enclosed poops) and two different stainless steel fountains. One is this one that I got at a local pet store and is huge because it’s actually a dog one but it’s all they had. The other is this one because my other cat loves running trickles of water, not like moving pools of water. Yes they have me well trained, but I’m happy to them healthy and hydrated.
My cat did this and i tried a few but they were crappy plastic ones. Bought a heavy ceramic one he tried for a few minutes and never tried to knock it over again.
Slant rhymes. You’re welcome ;)

It's probably only slightly less annoying than tinnitus if you listen to it for too long, but when my tinnitus starts driving me crazy I've taken to masking it with this tinnitus neuromodulator ambient noise thing. You can play with the sliders to find the volume level/noise pattern that works best for you.
Haven't tried sleeping with it on though. I tend to play nature sounds like rain (without thunder) and waterfalls. That yoga/meditation binaural shit that's all over youtube works pretty well, too.
What a fantastic way for your dog to hurt themselves. It's common for dogs who do this to get a back leg stuck in one of the smaller rectangles at the very top as they push off/fall over the top. And the landing, as demonstrated, can cause major injuries too. Hopefully they get a crate, or a pen the dog can't climb.
I've been looking at getting my 9 year old kid an electric one with brushless motors. I'm hoping that technology has caught up in the toy class ones that it won't be like mine growing up, 5 mins of mediocre run time. Anyway you might be someone who can tell me, are the ~$150 electric ones still trash? The batteries have to be better at least right? Anyone's thoughts on this are greatly appreciated.
For reference this one on amazon is what I was thinking. They seem WAY faster than the $50 ones at the toy store but I am still skeptical. I had a gas one before and I'm not expecting that kind of performance.
