Peak Players down by 65% in the last 8 months
Avg. Players down by 58% in the last 8 months
And now when I try to play, the game is plagued with severe frame drops and performance issues.
Rest in peace
EDIT: this shitty 2d pubg flash game has many times more players on a daily basis than dirty bomb
Well the free to play grind in this game is horrific, so that's not really helping their cause any. I just expected more active development after the commercial launch of the game. It hasn't really happened. I think this is all impacting the population. The game has been bleeding population for over a week now.
Good showing, review, and discussion of DB.
Because of this, and the Frankie video a day or so ago, Dirty Bomb has just passed it's previous peak of 11,270 players from open beta's release and is still rising.
The Insurgency developers have a roadmap for what they are working on, as well as a community request section.
It's actually really helpful, and it would be awesome if SD used it as well.
Dirty Bomb runs more on cpu than your graphics. http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri this could help you more. this game is free though, so if it doesn't work you haven't lost any money or anything :)
Use this build of OBS: https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/obs-branch-with-amd-vce-support.13996/
It allows you to put the encoding process on your graphics card which should give you massive performance boost as DB runs mostly CPU and OBS normally does aswell.
It starts at 17:00 UTC. Click here to see what time it is in your time zone (credit to /u/iiCUBED).
This was a nice video /u/Tekedi and I tend to agree, although I do think DB is headed in the right direction now that Nexon is gone.
The main issue now is we don't have a public timeline for anything, and SD seems afraid to publicly commit. Thanks to the developer responses here and /u/stayfreshshoe's weekly videos we have an idea of what they're thinking, but we don't know anything about what is actually being worked on. They've teased new content, which is great, but also kind of meaningless if we have no idea when it will be here. Should we expect Castle in a month, a couple months, or a year? I'm confident we'll see it sooner rather than later, but you couldn't blame anyone for thinking otherwise based on the timelines for Dockyard and Dome. Something as simple as a Trello board like this one for The Culling would really help, especially for competitively-inclined players trying to decide if it's worth investing time into the game.
That said, I think SD will be going with the "actions speak louder than words" approach and we're likely to see development pace pick up in the coming months.

2,026,705 ± 33,946 players total 287,620 ± 12,832 players in last 2 weeks
I dunno, maybe I can't math, but it looks like it has had over 100k players in the last 2 weeks. The peak number of players at any one time however, is still quite low.
They are not increasing the player base: https://steamdb.info/app/333930/graphs/
Set the zoom to one month. DirtyBomb has been bleeding users for weeks. We're back down to June numbers, and the downward trend doesn't appear to be over. If execution is about "building numbers.." it's not working.
All caps doesn't make your point correct :P
All this footage is from the Stream of Dirty Bomb. I hope this helps inform some on how the new ReV event will work. Please give all your support to them and go give them a follow (: https://www.twitch.tv/dirtybomb
I suggested this a while back after seeing the one from Subnautica. It would help relieve a lot of the frustration that builds up in the community. If they wanted to keep things like which mercs are coming up next secret, they could still list it under a code name or something, just so people can see the progress.
Sure! This might help as well, though it's not particularly tailored for readability so might be puzzling (using the Notes is essential): https://www.slideshare.net/thrmoptc/gdc2011-level-design-the-design-conduit
> This is the dll I use
*look of horror* Dropping a DLL somewhere is just as dangerous as running an untrusted EXE!
Even if the thing seems to do the job that was advertised, it's extremely simple for any of those random users sharing links and uploads to have inserted evil extra surprises along with it. Find the original source instead.
Try using Borderless Gaming. I've always used it because I alt-tab out quite often and never have seen this issue.
If this doesn't help you, try pulling up the steam overlay and then alt-tabbing out. This has helped me in other games with similar issues.
Hey man. I run a community called The Art of Warfare. Don't let the name fool you, we're not as try-hardy as it sounds. If meeting people and playing semi-regularly with players of every skill level is your thing, hit us up at TAW.net :) We do lots of weekly events including in-house PUGs, as well as a lot of coop pub play in TS.
I didn't even realise that this game is dying before seing this thread. I've thought the playerbase increased since the beta but seems like I was wrong: https://steamdb.info/app/333930/graphs/.
Realising this actually took out all the enjoyment from this game for me. I've been trying to grind missions to get most of mercs but now all of that just feels like a waste of time.
I might be wrong but it doesn't seem like this game will be played for very long. And with the release of overwatch from blizzard this game might fully die out.
Take a look at the GRAPHS
You can see the player base is declining, total players in 2 weeks is in decline, more and more people are not coming back, and with this latest patch, there was a surge in numbers, but I think the changes will piss people off. I know that the fragger buff pissed off a lot of my friends. Honestly, 17 second cooldown for his nades...thats a bit over powered, and now that he is on the free rotation you will see nades all over the place
https://steamdb.info/app/333930/graphs/ They are losing player so fast you dont even see it on the grapsh! Should the devs hotfix it without proper testing out what it affects? Just bump out a patch that "Fixes" phantom to make him USELESS is not a thing they have to BALANCE him. that means TESTING him out. U are clearly one of the new players since you seem to not know the methods of splash damage and how they handle patches.
> Softwares like shadowplay aren't compressed.
Do you even english? If it's compressed, then it's compressed. I haven't used Shadowplay, but I used OBS https://obsproject.com
You can specify compression level and other parameters yourself, it is certainly video compression, it uses x264 encoder. You can compress it however you want, if your hardware is powerful enough.
SteamDB (database, not dirty bomb) is a better site than steamcharts I've found. Used to use steamcharts for a good while until Dirty Bomb was showing to have a consistant playerbase of 468 or so players all the time for 4 days straight.
It's even got better graphs! Gotta love graphs.
Using a old AMD Phenom 2 955(4 years old?) together with a old AMD 6970 GPU. Playing at 1080p and capped the game at 90 FPS (Stable in 5vs5 and 6vs6. I dont play anything higher). Config: https://mega.nz/#F!JlEkjZyT!1l_vZDpmS3RpSQklponwbg Wish i could give credits for the config. Got it from some twitch channel awhile ago i think (before they nerfed potato configs) and while some options were disabled with patches the config still does its job for me.
I'm working on a dirty bomb concept video for YouTube and I would love any ideas.
The GIF I posted is a model for an armor pack, Similar to Torbjorn's armor from Overwatch. EDIT: Here's the 3D link. https://www.roblox.com/games/19998963/Dirty-Bomb-Concept-Models
Stats: Adds a temporary 35 health to any merc who doesn't already have armor. Dissipates after 30 seconds Stock of 2 Regenerates every 25 Seconds Armor takes 50% of incoming damage. It is not counted as health, but instead as armor. So if a 110 health merc has 75 health left and they were given armor, it would stay at 75 health and 35 armor. Armor does not stack. Armor ability cannot be replenished by 15% through Direct ammo packs. (This is when Arty or Skyhammer hits you directly with ammo without touching the ground and you gain 15% ability.)
Merc: I think it would be a good addition to Turtle that makes sense because he helps keep mercs alive through his defensive shield.
This was meant to be 1920x1080 but I didn't realize when i opened the background picture that it was a different resolution. Whoops.
Original background: https://www.pexels.com/photo/texture-wall-floor-stone-8892/
EDIT: So anyone rocking a 2553107789 : 5000000000 monitor should be having a whale of a time with this. 16 : 9 is for losers.
Made this script to start DB and set it to high. Tested on win7, should work on any version though.
echo off start steam://rungameid/333930
:loop FOR /F %%x IN ('tasklist /NH /FI "IMAGENAME eq ShooterGame-Win32-Shipping.exe"') DO IF %%x == ShooterGame-Win32-Shippin goto setp goto loop
:setp wmic process where name="ShooterGame-Win32-Shipping.exe" CALL setpriority "high priority" exit
Create a new txt file an rename it with .bat extension, edit it with notepad and paste this code in there. You could make a shortcut to this and add the the DB icon through windowns for your desktop or add it to steam as an external app if you want to launch it through there.
Or you could run Process tamer in the background all the time
It will definitely help you improve a ton but don't think it'll make you great if you're shit. Like Adeto sort of said, if you're a casual player and you have no aim to be a great player and never try to improve, don't waste your money, otherwise, I say go for it.
That being said of course, make the jump, it's absolutely amazing. I went from 60hz to 240 last month after being on 60 my entire life and it was orgasmic. In DB I usually only drop below 200 FPS on Castle or Dockyard in certain spots, but it's usually above 200, (CPU heavy games btw haHAA) with a 1060 and an i5-4460 (4 years old btw haHAA) so I think you're set honestly.
I got mine monitor for about $270 on Sale in May https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Monitor-Abmiidprzx-FREESYNC-Technology/dp/B0759DB8ML/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1530152834&sr=1-1&keywords=acer+240hz and I can tell you it was 100% worth it. The stand is as firm as you could need, it's height adjustable, comes with a Display port cable, speakers (if you care for that, though they suck badly mind you so you can disable them if you'd like) the UI is amazingly intuitive and fluid. The colors are a bit crap due to being a TN panel but there is an amazon review that has a good profile in it and that has made it completely bearable.
Whatever you do, just keep in mind, you have to really give a shit for an upgrade to be worth it I think. If you desire to get better, than go ahead my dude.
This site might help you determine peak hours for Dirty Bomb.
https://steamdb.info/app/333930/graphs/
It says around 18-20 but I'm in GMT +1.
edit
I'm not completely sure which timezone it reports in, but it does have a "right now playing" which matches the latest report on the graph showing 24h at a time.
Nvidia Shadowplay. It can also be used for streaming to Twitch. You can either chose manual (record as much as you wish) or ShadowPlay (record up to 20 mins). CntrlC CntrlV, its on your system so no perforamnce hits, etc. It's also very user friendly, lite UI and very free.
I find OBS to run well on my rig, too. Though if you want something that's quite cut 'n dry, simplistic. Go ShadowPlay. I usually go SP for just a regular gameplay recording and commentary, but recently I've been getting into streaming. So for that, I boot up OBS. Mainly because of the formating
> And hypothetically, if Phantom were to win culprit status, there'd be a lot of salt when those culprit/obsidian case drop everything but c and cr 94.
This is actually something that was mentioned in the Monday stream, the talk about second edition card starts here and the Phantom example starts here.
There're more than 6 thousands players daily. The number you see in the steam stats is the players peak, which means, the number of players that played the game at the same time.
https://steamdb.info/app/333930/graphs/ http://steamspy.com/app/333930
Those websites might help you in the steam stats matter.
Anyway, it all depends on the people that really like the game. For example, for a game launched as open beta only a few months ago, having 56 teams in an American League and 38 more in an EU league is really nice. Also if you check cybergamer.australia there're like 40 australian teams in the leagues. The game has so much potential, Splash Damage just need to wake up and start talking to big esports companies, like ESL, ESEA, CEVO and stuff like that, or create their own league system. This would keep the game alive
popularity decline? pure numbers seem to be the same with small difference
https://steamdb.info/app/333930/graphs/ every day above 10k, roughly 10,5k...bear in mind that it's summer in most of the world and people go on holiday so they actually don't play. few of my friends are example of that
It's not just TB, there was a huge wave of youtubers that week covering the game. TB brought the most players, hence the peak, but that's the only reason. It's expected for the numbers to fall down a little once the media hype is gone. Those peaks will happen again in the future depending on Nexon's efforts in promoting the game (it looks like they are doing that part).
But those numbers do not tell the whole story. Take a look at this: https://steamdb.info/app/333930/graphs/. It seems that for the last month approximately there have been 15k new players every day, making an amazing 1.55M players as of today. Yes some people didn't like the game and that's really fine, it's a free game, everyone can install and test it. It's expected for a free game to have a large number of installs and a large number of players to try and quit. But for the majority of us, DB is freaking amazing, there's nothing on the market to even compare.
One thing you COULD do, although it may not be the best option, is to just use windows movie maker, since you're not making any high quality gameplay that needs editing, it should work pretty well.
Another idea is to use OBS (https://obsproject.com/) and literally record nothing but the picture with the music playing in the background, if you do then if you have an equalizer, make sure it's off, it'll screw up the sound that way.
Other than that, I really got no ideas, but both are free and relatively easy. If anybody would like to make any other suggestions, feel free!
idk never did this before this is what came up on google see if it works http://www.filedropper.com/shooterengine
could also put the whole config in there but not sure if you want all my wacky settings 8)
I set up an interval timer to beep every second from 5 seconds to spawn. You just start it up at the beginning of the round and never get long spawned again!
I was very skeptical of this program, Free Video Cutter, but it didn't come loaded with anything malicious, and very easy to just open and use.
http://download.cnet.com/Free-Video-Cutter/3000-13631_4-75786614.html
I'm playing with Hollywood's config and I have no trouble seeing phantoms. I have no idea what cvars are in use, but it's an excellent high-visibility, high-FPS config. He has a link to it on his stream, http://www.filedropper.com/6-28-2015.
This config will make the game run in 1280x720. If you want to change the resolution you'll have to change the necessary cvars in the relevant ini's.
Hello, I'm a bot! The movie you linked is called Dirty Bomb, here are some Trailers
sure but why not something like trello ? like the only dev Nelson Sexton fromm Unturned does ?
https://trello.com/b/M2jI6d2e/unturned-roadmap
this would be nice for any devs out there so we can see what they need to work on and have done with permanent updates on the subjects :)
My monitor has a 4:3 setting so if I used a normally stretched 4:3 resolution it would fix it and show the black bars.
If your monitor doesn't have that setting you could try using Borderless-Gaming, play around with the settings and it should work. You can set custom stretched (or unstreched) resolutions for fullscreen windowed games.
If you find borderless window mode performs badly, check out this open source software:
Looks decent! The sidebar is now much clearer. Adding some FontAwesome icons to the buttons could help making them a bit easier to grasp (e.g. Steam, Youtube, Twitch & Twitter Logos, Wrench for Support,..). I'm not a fan of the transparent/blurred top bar. I'd get rid of it and put those links right-aligned in the white bar under it.
Personally I switched to Custom Desktop Logo (some explanation here) which works in every game without dll fuss.
That's good to know, since I like having a dot crosshair that's a tad smaller but with a thicker line. Would something like Custom Desktop Logo be bannable, which runs outside the game and doesn't inject or modify any files? It's not even an overlay, it just places an image on top of every window in your OS, and therefore, it doesn't need to have special configs other than running your games in windowed (or fullscreen windowed) mode.
To be fair, it is pretty mean of Splash Damage not putting one into a team that is able to carry one to their truly deserved victory via stomp every single match. MFW no shuffle or win vote in Ranked, btw.

I think Blender should do the job. It's an open source program mainly made for 3D modelling and rendering, but I've heard that it has some pretty decent video editing functionality. Look up some tutorials.
Alternatively, grab Lightworks. A free license (as in free beer, not freedom) will allow you to render at 720p with everything ready for Youtube.
You have to register at the website as the program asks for a web login before you can use it and a nag screen pops up from time to time (once a week?) in the free version asking you to insert your login again but if it's a professional editor with specific Youtube rendering options for zero money you want you'll find it perfect.
If you want a free and actually working VPN with tons of different servers, use SoftEther VPN Client Manager (https://www.softether.org/5-download)
You will not get disapointed if you try this one ;D
Yeah, but many millions of people do it. It's not something Valve can really enforce. Just get a VPN like Private Internet Access or a similar company (they're worth paying for the speed compared to free ones) and us a throwaway account for steam if you want.
Still happening, maybe a delay? When i fired up my VPN I also noticed it doesn't seem to be available in Mexico, Canada or France (edit: or US obviously). I got it working in the Netherlands, Hong Kong and Australia, I didn't try any others.
VPN i'm using is Private Internet Access.
I'm very curious whats causing this, i'm thinking about starting a channel but it just seems like such a pain sometimes.
Hey man, the community I lead ("The Art of Warfare [TAW]") are always looking for new members. We welcome players of all skill levels! We do multiple events weekly that will hopefully help raise our members skill and confidence! If that's something that sounds good to you then hit us up at the website above, we'd be happy to have you on board :)
This Product (V-Moda BoomPro) will turn any pair of headphones into a gaming headset. And the mic quality is very good - certainly good enough for gaming comms.
I use it with a pair of V-Moda Crossfade LP headphones - but they will work with any brand. check out /r/headphones for more detailed suggestions on what to buy.
