AICase Soldering Iron Station,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Z3R6VRR?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share I just got into this my self and this is a great soldering iron with adjustable temp (big plus). For 30$ you can’t go wrong.
It's actually mGBA! It's a lot more accurate than VBA and runs better too. Saving didn't work in Mednafen's mGBA for some dumb reason idk. But using mGBA's official app works perfectly (picture looks weird until you set the correct video options, after that it looks crisp!)
Yep. You get your battery and solder + to + and - to -

iFixit Mako Driver Kit - 64 Precision Bits for Electronics Repair.
Meets all your gaming Fix it needs.
Any of the ones on amazon should generally work, just look for "electronics case" and you'll have lots of options.
For the games I would go with a 3 ring binder and the trading card collector pages. You can fit 2 GBA games or 1 GB/GBC game per slot. Ive had mine stored like this for years now.
One of the Amazon Listings I found. Seems authentic But I have no way of knowing.
I would recommend this screwdriver set:
https://www.amazon.de/iFixit-Precision-Präzisions-Bits-Schraubendreher-Smartphone/dp/B08NWKMT8V
For everything Nintendo related you need Gamebit screwdrivers (in two sizes), a triwing screwdriver, and a philips screwdriver. This set above covers everything, is really of great quality, and pretty affordable. I guess for this type of SP repair you only need triwing and philips.

I'm using my old DS Lite case and it's perfect, slim enough in my opinion. There is some plastic stuff inside to fix the DS Lite, but that doesn't bother me.
Worst comes to worst, I have some, I can clean it, repair the pad if something is wrong with it, and ship it back, but I assume you would have your doubts about shipping it to a stranger on the internet xD
There is special electrical contact cleaner available. Its made by WD-40 and available on amazon BUT I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH MAKE SURE YOU GET THEIR CONTACT CLEANER NOT THEIR STANDARD WD-40 LUBRICANT. https://www.amazon.co.uk/WD40D-N-A-Contact-Cleaner/dp/B006UCJ5WQ/ref=sxts_rp_s_sp_1_0?content-id=amzn1.sym.c5acf368-7ed9-4588-845e-7ef602528ce4%3Aamzn1.sym.c5acf368-7ed9-4588-845e-7ef602528ce4&crid=2UEMJDA7IGR1F&cv_ct_cx=contact+cleaner&am...
This is one of the easiest soldering jobs and is perfect for newbies IMHO. Watch a few videos and make sure you have a decent soldering iron (if it doesn't have temperature control toss it in the trash and get something like this starter set), some flux, some solder wick, and a good quality battery. Seriously don't cheap out on the battery.

Are these the same thing? One won't ship for a few weeks so I was wondering if the second one was the same
Technically that should work. But the silicone sheathing is ever so slightly thicker than PVC or "kynar" (proprietary polymer). I am not sure how malleable it will be at this thickness (again because I never worked with them).
Here is an alternative.. Ughs now that Amazon is using url shorteners it is so much harder to copy a link.
Both videos show the same bluetooth breakout board. Macho seems to be installing it with an OEM screen, while the other video has an aftermarket IPS screen.
I forgot to factor thickness of the screen for this mod to work: IPS is thinner, therefore affording space in the lid to mount the BT module. It might be why Macho chose to use an extended battery lid. If you have an original screen, you might not have enough space, though I cannot confirm this; you'll just have to try.
Pretty straight forward wiring.
Two wires for sound L (S01) and R (S02) - I might have this swapped. Power from the link port (5v and GND). And activation to the spst button (CON and GND). You can mount the spst anywhere, it is a matter of poking a hole and if your switch choice can fit. And running enough wire to reach the spot.
If you're asking about a specific location, it very much depends on what size switch you have. This is probably the best location for any switch.. If you really want it in the lid, then you might be able to put it around the hinge area.
Something like this will fit nicely in that space. Various heights depending how far you want the button to stick out.
So something like this would be good? 24 Gauge Wire Solid Core Hookup Wire – 24 AWG (OD: 1.35 mm) Pre-Tinned, PVC Coated Copper Wire of 6 Colors (Black, Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, White) 36ft / 11m Each, Hook Up Wire Kit from Plusivo https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08BBXTBL7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_4PVEK1KBPPE6NGA06SME?psc=1

I thought helping hands would be useful as well and ended up never using them. I find I am repositioning the motherboards pretty often to get the best angle for the iron/solder. I have found a battery holder with alligator clips to be invaluable if you can't afford a power supply. That way you can test stuff without putting it back together.
Ahoy!
So, while reading the book is definitely not necessary for playing the game, this is technically a sequel! It's based on a book named Vous Voilà, which is over on Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08QC3SHCJ/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_B0BVQ2F8GEDDG4F18GVZ . I'm not one to lore-drop, but you can learn a little more about the characters, how they met, and the world itself from the book. If you're curious but don't want to buy it, I actually keep a PDF over on the game's GitHub page!
I am currently planning out the third story. I'm not sure what medium I want it to take, if I want it to be another GBA game, etc... But it's definitely in the works. I left a few character threads and arcs open that definitely have room to close, I'll just say that.

On the flip side of someone else's comment on here, I soldered my modded GBC and GBA with no prior experience. It's not the responsible thing to do but I got the hang of it quickly. Just work slowly and carefully with the minimum amount of heat required. Don't leave your iron lingering for too long and make sure you have all of the proper tools. This is the starter kit I got myself. I'd also get some flux as well as some kinda of battery tester so you don't have to put the system back together every time you want to power it on. I recommend this one from handheld legend.
But yeah, watch videos on youtube about how to solder. I found it to be pretty straightforward and haven't had any issues. When it comes to the battery tester and batteries in general, be very careful and MAKE SURE you have the correct polarity attached to the terminals before powering the system on. You will blow the fuse if this is not done correctly and you will have to replace it. Replacing that fuse is a huge pain in the ass because it's so tiny.
I've used Bestine solvent all over N64 carts. You'd have to try it on a common game to make sure it doesn't damage the label but this stuff is stronger than alcohol. Removes marker and all sorts of stickers fast with no damage.

So, since reddit posts seem to stay on the internet, I decided to post my analysis of my recently-purchased Gameshark SP carabiner.
I purchased it on eBay. The seller claimed to not know if it worked because they had sold their gameboy years ago. The price was relatively low because everyone knows that’s code for “probably broken”. I looked at their shop, saw that they seemed to be selling mainly personal goods, and thought it worth a chance.
I received the Game Shark Advanced SP today. I tested it right away, and pass-through (off position) works, games load just fine. But the menu doesn’t load when in the on position. I suspect a bad chip or a mockup Chinesium device. I opened the device to see if it was a mockup or just a failed device. It’s a failed device.
Upon studying the device’s board, I noticed corrosion on capacitor’s contact and white crud on the back of the board. I suspect the capacitor has popped and leaked electrolyte out. The device may be salvaged if I replace the capacitor. The capacitor is 16v, +105° centigrade, 47 µF, possibly replaceable via this Amazon listing.
Here’s my disclaimer. I’m not a professional with troubleshooting these things. I posted this for the benefit of all redditors and anyone else that might experience a similar failure of their Gameshark SP. If you have relevant experience or better knowledge, let me know so we can all benefit. I’ll update this post once I replace the capacitor.
Yes! You can find ez flash omega on Amazon and Everdrive x5 on its manufacturer website
I bought the case on Amazon here Timorn Full Parts Housing Shell Pack Replacement for GBA SP Gameboy Advance SP (Black Pack) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M2X7253/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_817MRYN3FZHJ4GJ0M2AR?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Good deal, good deal. Yeah, you can't usually find anything higher than that at your typical store. I buy 99.9% off Amazon. This is what I've bought in the past.

Oh thanks for the speaker fix, I'll try that when I open it up next.
This battery, it lasted a few hours on the charge it came with
That seems to be bringing up the same thing gba
They are all this shape, an American link would help so I know what I'm looking for? :)
I use this:
http://the-eye.eu/public/rom/Nintendo%20Gameboy%20Advance/

It has every single ROM I've ever wanted.
I've considered this type of thing before in a big binder. It's probably not the most *protective* option, but great for categorizing and immediately seeing each one without taking some out.

I had ordered this one off Amazon. And I’ve actually been using this battery for a few months now and at first it worked perfectly fine but it started having issues turning back on when I’d turn the console off an on real quick or changing cartridges. And now it simply won’t charge at all.

It didn't come with replacement hinges, but you could use ones from another GBA SP or buy the hinges separately. I can also post the guide I watched on YouTube that explained how to do this.
Those both look great thank you but sorry I’m quite an impatient person and I was wondering if there’s any good ones on Amazon like if this would work well for a few years https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0055215GG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_K4VKYN6BBFSJNZC7VGF5?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I just got this case for weed, but it just so happens to be the size of a GBA. It’s a tight fit, but I just fit 2 extra batteries in the case with it.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01EWKPEZE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_MF49HY5012WT3ERTW25H?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 This is one I bought recently and it works great. The only downside is it seems to be slightly larger than the oem battery so it may take a little extra force to get it into the battery housing. Other than that it works great.
Of course! Here’s the link: https://www.amazon.com/Meijunter-Replacement-Transparent-Housing-Nintendo/dp/B07VNLXVTN/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=gameboy+advance+sp+clear+shell&qid=1615789038&sr=8-3 I have the “clear blue” but it’s pretty much purple
this is the one i got and it’s worked well for my ags 101, got around 6 hours from the first time charging it with brightness on and volume up (tested it that way i usually play without brightness and only sometimes with volume but i haven’t tested the time on other conditions)

Its fine, if you don't mind waiting 2 months to get it from china. For a few bucks more you can get the same one from amazon - Amazon link
Congrats on the new SP! I couldn’t find a nintendo one from a quick search but I got this one off amazon and I’m happy with the quality so far. It came with a charger cable so it seemed like a decent price.
Charger Cable And 3.5MM Headphone... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01JOGH7SI?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
this one by ITakeApps I've been personally using for ages, it's free and has a great selection of games ready to be downloaded including big titles. Just watch one ad to download a game then turn your WiFi of and play all you want with no restrictions, speed altering, save states, including a quick save and quick load and ability to add in hacks and customise the setup. It doesn't work too well for fast-paced games like platformers thought but is great for strategy games
You can also get a cord like this and listen to older systems that use AV audio out with Bluetooth headphones. I do this a lot too.
Hey I was just thinkin' about this and I thought if you're looking for a (probably) easier battery mod, you might wanna look into getting one of These
Pretty cheap and it's USB type C so it might be a better solution that you can still use the battery from what you already bought with it.
I think im planning on buying a battery replacement on amazon. I think im sure its a battery issue. Which one would be the best for me?
I was thinking this one
I would scrub it with a metal polish like Brite Boy on a q-tip. Then I would clear it off with isopropyl alcohol and a toothbrush, then wipe it with a microfiber rag.
Hey! I have this same issue right now with my copy. Seems like the rumbles are all about to die! Haha
I'm working on a video about how to fix it (YT:fossilarcade) but I think this is the motor you need. Just need to desolder the faulty on off and replace it with this. I've not got around to it yet, but will carry out some tests and repairs in a few days.
Yes the original Advance was really hard to see on. You can get a worm light attachment, but they aren't great. Trading in for a SP 101 is probably you're best bet, those screens look awesome. If you have the dough though, I would suggest looking on Etsy or somewhere for a modded original GBA with a 101 screen. I just got one and am absolutely loving it.
