will only allow two tags. Playing around with it if you change 253 to 254 it allowed me to search at least up to 4 tags.

I used google keeps to keep notes for a while, it works great but then I realized that I don't need the online functionality and all the text formatting stuff, so I downloaded a simple app on my phone that works offline (this one) and switched to that one, but overall google keep can be a great way to keep notes

i've sent this to Google as a feature request in the past. i've often had to use ColorNote (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.socialnmobile.dictapps.notepad.color.note) as an alternative to achieve this--a widget for a specific note. it doesn't show the whole thing if it's too long, of course, and it won't let you scroll down without opening it. but at least it uses the whole widget.

i hope somebody has a proper Keep-only option for you--this is an essential feature, IMO.

You'll get a larger window to work with your note if you install the Google Keep Android app and people won't be able to see your other notes in the background.

If you maximize the app window you'll get an even larger window but people can peek at your other notes.

Best solution is to not maximize the app but instead to drag to resize it. You'll find the sweet spot where the note is largest ... beyond that it'll show background notes again.

 

You can work with the chrome and Android interface at the same time. Quite handy when working with two notes & copying & pasting etc.

The PWA is not up-to-date anymore, Google recommends using the site, confirmed by trying the below

Not sure what you mean? You want to add the email content to a note? If that is the case, then you must copy and paste the content into an existing Keep note. Otherwise you have to copy the gmail URL and paste it into your note.

I wouldn't worry that deeply about it.

But you might want to try the number of apps that are out there to help you more easily keep track of your novel. Scrivener is a big name but there are alternatives.

Recently Keep is very slow on Chrome on my Chromebook. It doesn't impact me too much as I mainly use the Android app.

However if in Chrome on my Chromebook I use Keep in the right hand column of either Gmail or Calendar ...

You might want to give that a try until the regular Keep on Chrome speeds up again.

I'm a writer who is constantly interviewing people for stories. I really like Otter.ai https://otter.ai/ for transcription. You can record with it as well, but it crashed on me once in the middle of a recording, so I usually use a ASR for Android.

I'll have to try Keep's feature, though!

I would suggest to first backup your notes using Google Takeout and/or select them all on a PC and Send to Google Docs. Then delete the Keep app on your phone and clear any caching. Then, go into your PC with a fresh browser (clear your cookies if you can) and refresh Keep at keep.google.com and make sure the missing notes are there. Then, reinstall the mobile app on your phone and let it sync completely before you search for the missing notes.

What platform are you using? on android, it's a quick and easy two taps to filter to the label of your choice. On PC web browser, you can set bookmarks to all of your labels:

Just filter however you want, and create a bookmark if you want to quickly start out at any certain views.

The iOS ad web apps are not going away - either will work for you. If you were using the desktop Chrome app just skip that and go to keep.google.com in any modern browser- it works exactly the same.

keep.google.com will remain available as always, same as the Android and iOS apps.

It's just that the dedicated Chrome app (the Chrome Web Store offered free/paid offline-first HTML5 apps) is going away.

Hi there. I'm one of the devs on Keep Android and an occasional lurker of this sub. I'm one of the folks who ultimately writes the code to fix the bugs. If there's a bug where your notes aren't properly syncing between two devices, this is honestly the best thing you can do to flag the issue:

STEP A: Send a feedback report In the top right, tap your account icon on both devices. Make sure you're signed into the same account. On your second device, refresh the page. Wait one minute. Tip: To refresh on a mobile device, swipe down. On your mobile device, in the top left, tap the menu icon > Send feedback. On the web, in the top right, tap the Settings icon > Send feedback. Make sure "System logs" is checked. In your feedback message, include #DeviceSync. (That will make it easier to group the reports.)

STEP B: Test syncing across devices On a computer, open https://keep.google.com. Check if the notes there match with either of your two devices. Which device do the notes show up on? Try adding a new note from the web app and see if it appears on either device. Which device do the notes show up on? Reply to this comment with the answers to step 2 & 3.

The Send Feedback button is really the best bet to report issues - especially if you include a good amount of detail. I wish every report had as much detail as this Reddit post. If you include the logs, that also gives useful context.

I guess I'll end this by saying I'm sorry for this and any other bugs you experience within Keep. My colleagues and I are actively working to improve this app. I've personally fixed a number of bugs over the past year and take great pride in doing so.

While its not exactly what you're looking for, I get around performance issues (for the most part) by 1) organizing my notes into labels and 2) bookmarking and accessing a label directly when navigating to the site, as opposed to just going to keep.google.com. This is because the main notes page tires to load and sync all notes by default which takes forever. Going to a labels page gives that label priority, so it syncs it's labels first, displays them, then syncs the remainder of the items in the background. It at least makes the site responsive.

To your actual question, though, I agree with /u/bananaEmpanada - try and delete what you can.

In the meantime ...

For SEARCHING in your notes it's best to use Keep's web version in desktop mode

After searching in Keep then use the browser's ctrl+f OR "find in page" to search & highlight within the found note.

Assuming you're logged into Google on your phone:

Keep is by default synchronized with online storage. You can see it in a web-browser by looking at https://keep.google.com in a web browser.

Also, Android has a backup system that should be backing up much of your app state. You can look at the backup settings in the Android settings app, in the "Backup and Reset" category.

If you decide to try nativefier, here is my recommended command:

Thanks. I did have the Keep app (iOS), but it looks like notifications were not yet allowed (as I wasn't really using the app). I did one quick test and a notification did pop up on my phone. However, even thought I did NOT swipe away the notification, it isn't there (on my phone's lock screen) later on. I can see it if I pull down the notifications. But again, I'm trying to get these reminders to behave more persistently.

I still can't get it to work in Chrome on macOS. I went to the Settings and added https://keep.google.com/ as a site for allowing notifications. Also, now when I set a reminder for several minutes into the future, I'm no longer even getting the notifications on my phone. So it worked once and now doesn't seem to work any more.

This really ought to work better/easier. Any other ideas?

If none of the above work for you you could try the FREE ZOHO Notebook: APP | WEB as opposed to Google Keep you can create various notebooks.(it also has tags)

Perhaps switching between notebooks or keeping various notebook tabs open at the same will work better for you.

I think I am going to use Keep to replace a handful of different apps I had been using before.

So, for notes that used to go into Evernote, I color them green. For diary/journal like notes, I use blue, which is the thematic color of a diary app called Journey. For very short "don't forget!" type notes, I use light red, which resembles the color of Jot. Craigslist isn't an app, but sometimes I have Craigslist-related things I want to do (right now I happen to be looking for short-term/medium term apartment options), and those notes are grey, which for me is the characteristic color of Craigslist.

And for stuff that used to be my only use case for Google Keep, loose collection of notes and information for some single thing, such as a phone conversation or a trip to a town I've never been to before, I color them yellow.

I try to be a minimalist or else I will lose entire days pointlessly rearranging digital information, so a combination of colors and simply using the search function is how I organize things for the time being.
