Just did this. So worth it.
Bought this case and it worked like a charm: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BGTH4L2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_rKBiDbB5QDEBD
When you plug your HomePod in at a new location it should automatically update its Wi-Fi based on your phones wifi credentials. I say should because it sometimes takes a little while. Just get your phone on Wi-Fi, plug in the HomePod and leave it be for about 15 minutes.
I use weather, news, music and timers on my HomePod constantly, so it was nice to be able to keep using those features when away from home.
Get this to replace your outlet and problem solved. Just put one of these outlets in to power one of my Minis. They do 30W and the Mini only needs 20W so you’re golden.

I bought two of these (usb c extension ) And they work perfectly to add length to my HomePod minis.
Maybe you could place this silicone stand on top?
Edit: or buy a dedicated stand for the HomePod that is out of toddler reach
The amazon reviews seem to indicate that it is capable of supplying 9v, so it looks like this should work. One review even explicitly said it powers the mini! There is a review that says the power halves if two devices are plugged in, so it probably won't work with another device plugged in.
It's not a perfect fit obviously but it's very close. Definitely secure in there. For $17 it'll do until some specific to the HomePod Mini start being made. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08D7K9BRS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It is a network wide ad blocker. If you have an ad blocker, I think the way the homepod is authenticated looks like an ad. I had to disable the pi-hole for 5 minutes while adding the homepod.
I have this one. I mostly use it on my patio and by the fire pit, which are both within wifi range. However, my understanding is you can use AirPlay even if you don't have wifi. So, again theoretically, you can stream to your phone via your cellular connection, and then AirPlay to a HomePod without an active wifi connection.

This one I ordered on Amazon has cable management built in.
The Etsy one looks nice though with its smaller footprint.
Mine are mounted to the side of my TV stand with mounts very similar to that. They still sound great.

I'm a big fan of Ikea mods but this ain't it. Just buy real speaker stands. These are great:

https://www.amazon.com/VIVO-Universal-Surround-Speakers-STAND-SP02B/dp/B01HDVVAJS

I believe this should be possible with Audiobus. Use jack as an input and then route it to an app that allows to pass the input to Airplay speaker. Quick search of the compatible apps showed this app: multiroom-music-radio-player
You can ask on Audiobus forums to confirm the setup will work before you spend money on it.
Also I think there might be some echoing issues when you're on a call. It could be no problem being close to the Mac, but when the HomePod is far away from the microphone, the others parties on the call get hella echo. Or at least that's been my experience today, haven't tested it thoroughly yet. Just something to look out for I guess.
But the stereo pair on the desk sounds damn good! I'd actually go for that if I wouldn't have them as TV speakers in the same space. About the multi-speaker setup; not even sure if you need it. My Mini can literally make me think it is raining in the whole apartment when there's some chill music playing with that background noise kinda thing. It's somehow amazing at spacial audio, so putting it anywhere on the desk will prolly be really good too. If you really want two, you could check out AirFoil which is supposed to help with that. Or you can also just create a stereo pair and then you have one output device to choose for both of them.
I was looking into Airfoil since that solves my problem (and yours by the looks of it) but we shouldn’t have to resort to (pricey) third party workarounds that might get obsolete in a future OS update...
I was looking into returning it and getting a Sonos, but I’m convinced that this has the best sound quality out of all the choices on the market.
Probably generic satellite speaker stands should work.
for my kitchen HomePod og I bought a stand that screws in the wall/cabinet, and its great for giving us back the counter space. https://www.amazon.com/Mount-Plus-MP-SB60-Speaker-Wall/dp/B087BHR8G3/ref=sr_1_6?dchild=1&keywords=HomePod+speaker+mount&qid=1627220904&sr=8-6
Just search "HomePod speaker stand" on amazon there's a bunch of really great options.
This is why I switched from one of these mounts to this mount in my garage. There was a huge difference in range and quality and everything sounds muffled when mounted on the side.
I would seal it in a bag or container with a bunch of these.
Has anyone tried a USB c Ethernet adaptor to see if you can hardwire rather then use wifi? Something similar to the below

I could see the benefit of this for having that “Jarvis-like” Siri integration at home. Only problem I would have is the same problem I had with my Hue lights. You have to keep the light switch on. So I bought these to prevent anyone from flipping the switch.
Swap out the receptacle for one with USB-C ports.

Yeah, I also tried to find a 4 outlet version with cable management and couldn’t. I have this coming which would work with a 4 outlet. I am going it try it because it won’t block the other outlets like my current setup does.

Leviton dual USB-C Type outlet with Power Delivery don’t get the one with type-A and type-C because it doesn’t have PD (It will not supply 9V at 2.22 amps or 20 watts). You also can’t use the other USB-C port because the power in the other port will drop and your HomePod mini will not work. Other than that, it works well.

Instead I got a couple Ikea Lack shelves (pretty much hollow boxes) and they sound amazing sitting on those.
https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/lack-wall-shelf-white-50282177/
Is this due to the TV itself not having VESA Mounts, or due to where you live? If you just can't mount to the wall where you live, there are floor standing mounts, and integrated mounts with entertainment shelves you can get. I still have the entertainment center that has a lower drawer, shelves, and an integrated TV mount with swivel from when I was renting. I'm still rocking it despite owning as I haven't felt the need to upgrade just yet.

That’s an Indian Plug. Where did you get it from? This will help or get something similar
The way I did it for a while was through an AV RCA to HDMI converter, which then plays through eARC on your TV with AppleTV and HomePods as default.
There are two downsides to this however, you have to be tuned to the HDMI input with the converter attached, and since there's no video input you get an ugly blue screen with 720p in white text while you are just trying to enjoy some tunes. And of course this being just an eARC passthrough, there's no AirPlay to other speakers.
But that's how you get record players to play through your HomePods
According to the Sonos Privacy Statement, with a Sonos you are sharing data with Sonos and their partners...

Yes it’s possible and works great! Don’t listen to people who tell you otherwise. This is how mine is setup and I use it every day. My OTA TV, AppleTV, XBox, and Switch all route audio through my stereo paired OG HomePods.
The TV needs to have eARC and you need an AppleTV 4K, the newer model that supports eARC.
There’s tons of them but this is the one I have: LG 75NANO80UPA https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08WHWZSCN

I have another model of these...

It doesn’t make too much of a difference with the minis. The OG’s definitely need a solid surface and some room to sound their best. I use something similar to these

I am looking for the same solution and I found cheaper ($65) and more versatile solution. I haven't tested it yet. Want to get thoughts. I think it will work because it has a HDMI input ARC for ATV and HDMI OUT for non-ARC TV:
I have this and it is fantastic. A friend recommended it to me a few years ago and now it runs all the time in my bedroom.
Thanks for pointing that out. Honestly my network was so overwhelmed at some times that I was really ready to press the purchase button for the mesh system I have in my cart for a while now.
I deactivated the guest network and that seems to have it improved a bit, but it still sometimes completely drops the connection rates to all devices at the same time.
those are the ones I thought about buying and making the old router as you said a "dumb modem".

I will do the tests, but it think I'll buy some sort of mesh network anyway since I want to extend the wifi range no matter what.

Right now, it’s only being held up by the 3M tape that it came with. Since the HomePod is pretty light, is it okay to just leave it with just the 3M tape?

But instead of generating a random MAC address, use the one from your HomePod.
After you are done logging in, switch your laptop's MAC address back to its original.

but a solution might be to Airplay from your phone and than manage that with a bluetooth remote
I’ve quite successfully run one from an 18W PD power bank for over a day. I do believe that it matters whether it’s a PD (power delivery) power pack but all that happens if you connect it to something that can’t provide enough power is that it doesn’t power up, or it does, but the light on top goes orange and it won’t do anything until you unplug it and connect it to a strong enough power source.
FWIW, the power bank I used was: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B091TW1JKC/
I think that you gave me a compliment— that is my 2nd one altogether on Reddit in a year! Let me know if I can tell you how to download “Handbrake” a French app (I think) that is going to transcode the old formats of A/V and audio and is free. Google, it but you are going to have to clean up the old files and readout texts from your own transcoding or your drive will be overstuffed with the old bloated ones.HANDBRAKE
I’ve also been looking for stands, to put behind the couch and bookend them. I know they had them for the Sonia play one’s, but is it too big for the minis?

A thought..... seems like the guys over at Videolan have Airplay 2 working pretty good. Going to give this a try to see how their app stacks up from an Airplay 2 sync standpoint. If so, might be some interesting things to have a look at in their source:

HomePod product page mentions 3 features coming "later this fall":
>Keep listening. Without missing a beat.
>
>Whether you’re halfway through a phone call or listening to a song or podcast on your iPhone, you can easily hand it off to HomePod. Just hold your iOS device next to HomePod and whatever you’re listening to will continue to play seamlessly on HomePod.
>
>Relax with Ambient Sounds — featuring the soothing sounds of ocean waves, forest birds, rainstorms, and more.
>
>A personalized experience. For each person in the family.
>
>Together with Siri, HomePod can learn and recognize up to six different voices and create a personalized listening experience for everybody at home. So when they say “Hey Siri, play some music” they’ll get a mix of songs customized just for them — picked from Apple Music based on their listening history and personal preferences. And with Personal Requests, they can access their own messages, reminders, lists, and calendars, and make and receive phone calls.
iOS 13 page mentions HomeKit Secure Video as coming later this fall, which will be a feature of HomePod as well.
HomePod audioOS 13.x will be released with iOS 13.2.
You can stream to multiple HomePods easily, and create a L/R stereo pair with Airfoil.
It's more convenient than AirPlay 2 on iOS, as I can set up speaker-groups easily, and choose only specific applications to output their audio. I've used Airfoil for years, and am even using it right now to stream Spotify on macOS to multiple HomePods as I write this. I've tested it with streaming to all 7 HomePods and it still worked without any latency issues (mesh WiFi network), though you can also tweak that in Airfoil should you hear slight delays.
Unfortunately, that's not the case at present. Airfoil (https://rogueamoeba.com/airfoil/mac/) can send to two (or more) HomePods, but not to both halves of a stereo pair.
macOS doesn’t have systemwide AirPlay 2 functionality, which is required to see HomePods configured in a stereo pair. AirPlay2 still only works in iTunes on the Mac.
You could use Airfoil to send the audio to both HomePods but you won’t get the normal stereo pair functionally, it’ll just output the same audio to both HomePods.
Lol, maybe don’t. I believe the source will be mono since OP is using an adapter that sends the audio signal to the microphone channel, and since the HomePod uses the stereo signal to create ambiance, sound quality will be greatly reduced. Furthermore, the app used is not in the App Store.
Not a solution to present to the team IMO. Better off using an app like Airfoil and using a more robust line-in/audio monitoring solution.
DNS request? You should NOT be getting 1000s of DNS requests from either of them.
Not trying to be a dick but you do NOT understand networking to even post this as it has no value.
What kind of computer do you have?
If you are interested and want to learn then get WireShark. Here is a link.
You need the mac address from both devices. Should be available on the Eero but it is NOT network hardware I know so can't tell you for sure.
The mac address, NOT to be confused with a Mac computer, is the ethernet address.
I would suggest using instead of IP address.
Then set WireShark to capture the traffic for both devices and see what you get.
I’m not sure about this brand, but this is the type of thing to look for:
[10Gbps] USB C Female to USB Male Adapter (2-Pack), 3.1 USB A to USB C Adapter, XAOSUN One-Sided SuperSpeed Data Sync & 100W Fast Charging - Compatible with Laptop, PC, Charger, Power Bank, Quest Link https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B083XXLW77/ref=cm_sw_r_em_api_glt_fabc_N21NM754QHNPYX4FBJJY
"The Apple TV will output audio based on the AirPlay 2 spec to the HomePods. In other words, the audio is transmitted wirelessly in a lossless ALAC container, sending the data encoded as Linear PCM or as Dolby Bitstream".
But on IOS, apple music DRM´d content (not local -ripped- content) streamed from the music app and airplayed is currently transcoded to AAC 256. As of right now is not possible to Airplay lossless audio from Apple Music.
Maybe the Apple TV Music app is doing the same.
This is because Airplay 2 has two modes: Buffered mode, and real time mode. Real time mode uses ALAC, Buffered mode uses AAC.
The Apple Music app on IOS currently uses the buffered mode when airplaying Apple Music content, thus is limited to AAC 256. Other apps, like Tidal or Deezer, uses real time mode, therefore allowing lossless airplay.
I wonder which mode the Apple TV Music app uses when sending Apple Music to the Homepods, the lossy or the lossless one.
I’ve toyed with the idea a few times of buying the Intellidash, an AC converter, and pairing with an unused jail token iPhone 7 on iOS 14 and seeing how close that can get me to my Nest Hub Mini but the price has always stopped me from experimenting.
Here is the portable battery base so it can be use outside when needed.
No, it's some no-name company called Cefrank. You can link the tubes into one large tube, or use them as three separate entities linked by cables, which gives me all kinds of flexibility for placement.
Don’t homepods need a new inches around them to project sound properly? At least I think I read an article that it need at least a few inches to properly carry sound. I bought theseand they work great.
you can use this:
https://www.amazon.com/Mission-Battery-Base-HomePod-White/dp/B0964H5Z6Q
and it turns the HomePod into an airplay speaker that runs on battery, and I think you can just plug it into power as well. I have one coming for our golf cart.
You know what? You're on to something here. You could get one of those dog buttons and just record yourself saying "Hey Siri, intercom" or whatever the command is. (I'm not familiar with the intercom function.)
Then, train the dog to push the button when he wants your attention. Heck, you could even record a few different Siri commands - One for intercom, maybe one to play soft music or nature sounds, another to turn on some lights, and another to send a message. How awesome would it be to get a text message from your dog saying "Just wanted you to know I'm thinking about you."
I've had these EXIMUS Fixed Height Speaker Floor Stand - with Silicone Pad - Compatible with Apple HomePod - Blackstands since November. They have a small footprint and are stable (even on carpet). The bass is full and rich.
I suspect the correct answer is that it doesn't really matter too much, but I went with this one and it's worked fine

Not OP, but they look identical to mine.
Edit: My saved text from a post I never posted snuck it’s way into the beginning, my fault lol.

Really solid (I recommend toggle bolts for drywall if you can't hit a stud) and sound very good.
Someone had recommended this in this sub at one point and I used it to clean off red marker. I can barely tell it’s there now. Highly recommend: Jason Markk Shoe Cleaner on Amazon
Pretty much any modern bookshelf speaker combination and a small Class D amp.
The JBL LSR-305 MKII are amazing powered speakers for $240.00 a pair. Stick an Amazon Echo Dot or a Nest mini on them for $50.00 and you have a $290 setup with smarts, and the Echo dot will do Apple Music.
Do they look at pretty as the HomePod? No, they don't. And they're not as compact. But that's because they're real speakers. You're not dropping them on your kitchen counter.
There are plenty of other bookshelf speakers that sell for less than $600 a pair.
On the "Smart" speaker side, the Amazon Echo Studio sounds pretty amazing and it's only $200.
Supposedly, the HomePod was something Apple was working on before the Amazon Echo came out. They designed an amazing speaker, but released it in an era where people were more interested in the "smart," instead of the speaker.
If they come down in price to $200 on clearance, I might consider getting one. But I am also worried that at some point it will just stop working. If Apple changes the Apple Music or Siri API, there may be an issue with these speakers.
I actually haven't tried the iRig without a preamp, but I've heard reports from users that it works best with preamp. Another popular option (that is currently in stock on Amazon) is the Rega Fono Mini preamp. While it is definitely expensive ($175), it has USB output so you won't need the iRig or UFO202. Just pick up a USB-B to Lightning cord like this one and you're set.
The version of AirChord currently in the App Store does not support AirPlay 2. However, as of iOS 14.3, original AirPlay can stream to a single set of stereo-paired HomePods. The beta version of AirChord 2 (downloaded via the TestFlight link above) is able to stream to an indefinite number of HomePods/AirPlay 2 devices.
I just got this:

And the mini would not work at all. Must not have been powerful enough? For a second I thong I had killed the mini.
