This is an awesome display of community and courage, no doubt about it, it's inspiring.
That said, I'm gonna hijack this top comment for a sec just to point out that this is a great example of why you wanna have some kind of glass break tool in your car at all times. I have one of these on every one of my key rings so it's always with me whenever I'm in a car. Doesn't have to be this one, but get yourself one. It's cheap insurance and you'll wish you had one in a situation like this (or worse if you go into a lake and that car starts filling up real quick)
Again, hate to hijack, this was an incredibly inspiring display.
I dunno if it's just my Uni or something, and it ain't a small one, but I haven't paid for a single book in my whole degree of CS. Each course is obliged by faculty to list one mandatory book, but the first thing the teacher says when we review the course plan on the first day: Don't bother with the book, our course notes are better or we'll provide you with a digital copy if it's ours.
We had quite a few teachers sending a mass e-mail to class with something along the lines of "We do not condone the usage of https://libgen.is/ to download your course materials. That is all."
Even the head of the whole science faculty, which gave us our Network Engineering course, said don't bother with the book because he added to his notes all the useful bits.
Amazon has one for 40 US dollar from 50 normally so I guess somewhere in between (if it's the same one)

There are dozens of these options:
https://www.amazon.com/PERSONAL-Recordable-Plush-Talking-Teddy/dp/B001RZE0E4
You need to digitize your recordings. Sometimes you can download a clean digital version from your phone carrier. Sometimes you have to play them into a recording source.
That man is a damn true hero.
Also, I think it's worth noting how the actions of the other individual who had the fire extinguisher were potentially crucial to this rescue.
It appeares that the car was mere seconds away from becoming to dangerous to continue any sort of physical rescue attempsts.
I just now ordered my own emergency extinguisher for my car for $17.
sometimes when I feel crummy I like to go on amazon and check out the customer photos for outdoor heated tents like this one. People post little stories and pictures of their neighborhood feral cats, it warms my heart to see so many kitties being taken care of in quiet ways... fyi you don't have to buy one! you can make them fairly cheaply!
Just buy some slightly baggy clothing and rub some charcoal and dirt here and there grab a un clean bit of cardboard and a marker. Don't wear nice shoes and pick a busy corner or off ramp. If you want to kill it wear cheap sun glass and have a cane or have the word VET on the sign.
Nope. It's totally photoshopped.
Edit: You guys. This is not even up for debate. Look at the picture. You can clearly see the image noise around the borders of the font. Also, to that person /u/unnecessary_kindness who linked me to this: https://vgy.me/cf6W5H.jpg LOOK AGAIN. Somebody went back into Photoshop and warped the font so it would look more convincing!

Also, I am a graphic designer. I won't even mention the fact that they're not holding hands. Their hands are just sort of near each other. Oops, I guess I just mentioned it.
Has he heard about these amusement park/attractions where they have a bunch of bulldozers and other heavy machinery and you can just move dirt, dig holes, etc? I think the one I read about was in Colorado. Will see if I can find it :)
Edit: it's in Vegas, not CO. here is where I read about it
Amazon's choice, user manual says it's storage temperature is -40F ~ 120F (-40C ~ 50C).
A bunch of other models say up to 140F or 60C.
These things were designed to fight fire, they should be able to handle some heat :)
I feel the same. ): I do my best to donate to NGOs which help the elderly. I don't know how much it helps but that's all I feel is in my capacity.

https://www.huffpost.com/us/entry/5716299 He seems to have a bit of a dry sense of humor about it... “As we have always said, Steen got the legs and Peder got the brains,” the twins wrote on their website, according to the Daily Mirror. “So we are the perfect combination for an athlete with iron will.”
Have you tried using an undercoat rake? I recently got one for my long-haired cat and it's been pretty amazing so far. It doesn't tug like the furminator and it's better at removing loose fur, so as long as it's used regularly I don't think mats can develop in the first place.
That's far from a stupid question. I'm glad you asked.
Generally, you want to place your hands between the nipples (easier on a guy).
To be more precise, you want to feel around to where the sternum ends in a point over the stomach area, then move two finger widths above that point for placing the pinky-side of your hand.
Then, lock your hands, lock your elbows and hinging at the hips you want to make that chest wall depress a good two inches on each pump.
Here's a site that shows pictures of hand placement.
I'd highly recommend taking a CPR class, though. In the US, most fire departments run classes and they often cost ~$25 or even less. It's very low-key and casual and filled with babysitters, lifeguards, and cubscouts. No pressure!
These are stupid cheap and great quality.
I've got three for my different load-outs. Going to start carrying Swiss Army knives again but the Gerbers are nice for attaching to gear.
Remember the greatest gift you can give her is the boundaries and space to discover that she is enough on her own.
Codependent No More . This book changed my life and my approach to relationships.
You also left out enslaving bears in impossibly tiny cages while constantly collecting their bile to the point where they have allegedly committed suicide.
Well, I guess I don't know if everyone calls it that. That's what we called it in the Anthropology department that I went through. My advisor wrote a book that was tangentially about it:

But, it might be easier to think of as a recurrence of the social opinions and thought that characterized the first Romantic movement. Glorification of subjectivism and of emotional expression. There has been a rise in the far right in virtually every country in the West and Middle East over the last 15 or so years. Part of that is due to the rise of the overall "emotional temperature", so-to-speak.
Why do that when a 275 gallon drum of personal lubricant is so much cheaper? With a 275 gallon drum of personal lubricant you can have just as much fun! Also with a 275 gallon drum of personal lubricant (depending on your passenger), you can choose whether you want to drive or not. 275 gallon drum of personal lubricant
A legit answer here: there’s some evidence for genetic propensity toward muscularity as a result of: 1. a population boom among Maori after they colonized the NZ islands, 2. which developed into warring (and sometimes cannibalism) to take over land for food cultivation and pas (forts), 3. Which saw weaker individuals killed off and stronger ones surviving, 4. Resulting in guys that are hard to tackle in rugby

Actually...yeah, I do. I see it a lot at re-enactment events and sometimes at Farmer's markets. It's easier (for slightly obvious reasons) to find it at Christmas fairs - starting in November. I bought both to put in my Mom's nativity scene a few years ago. :-)
Also, Amazon has both. However, it will be cheaper at a fair towards November than buying it off of Amazon.
I always found the little retractable leashes really useful, especially for fly fishing. I think I have a pocket knife and a pair of forceps on my fishing vest attached via a couple of those leashes and they're really useful!
Always good to have a knife/multitool handy though.
Apparently small ice crystals form in the tissue and rubbing the affected area can cause the ice crystals to damage the tissue further.

I know this is also an unpopular opinion currently but it should be said.
We are not omnivores, we are maybe at a stretch opportunistic omnivores, but our diet should be at least 98% plant based, not the incredible diet of eating meat/dairy three times a day. The dental canine theory has been discredited, which can be seen by comparing the dental structures of true carnivores to our teeth. Our teeth are exactly alike to frugivores (gorillas, chimps etc.), animals which largely eat plants.
I would highly recommend you watch What the Health on Netflix.
It talks about how most of the top killers in the West (Heart Disease, Strokes, Cancer) are largely due to eating too much meat and animal products. Type II diabetes could be near eradicated if those affected switched to a plant based diet. I'm talking about diabetes disappearing with 2-4 weeks.
It's a short documentary, but it could very literally save your life one day. We've been lied to by the meat and dairy industry since we were born as part of marketing campaigns intended to get us accustomed to eating large quantities of their products. It isn't healthy, it's killing us. The American Diabetes Association accepts huge donations from many huge meat and dairy companies, suspicious right?
I know I sound like a conspiracy theorist and that I'm probably completely overblowing the devastating affects, but please do me the honor of simply watching the documentary and then making judgements. I will answer and all questions you have if you're interested.
Dogs have evolved through their relationship with humans to the point where they thrive on a starch-rich diet which would not be suitable for other carnivores.
I just did exactly that.

Just read about this in “You’re not Listening”. Apparently you can also rent a family
Get a center punch. Old EMS trick of the trade. You don't have to worry about having room to wind up or possibly fighting gravity if you're the one in the car, and if you're not, you don't have to use it in the center of the windshield (i.e. not right in someone's face).
I didn't see anything regarding cutting the program. I did see that a new training facility might not be built, even though it's in the budget. The people of the town basically are afraid of having the inmates in the area. While I understand with it being near a facility for children, just move it to somewhere else in town.
Yep. He wrote a piece on the benefits of marijuana under the pseudonym Mr X in 1969. http://www.openculture.com/2013/05/carl_sagan_extols_the_virtues_of_cannabis_1969.html
Good that he didn't use his real name. He would have never been able to do Cosmos if he had. The fact that it was him didn't come out three years after his death.
But then you uploaded it to Imgur, which compresses the shit out of image quality to reduce filesize.
Flickr used to be a good host for uncompressed images, but they'll ban you if they catch you uploading stuff that isn't yours. Right now the best uncompressed image host I've found is cubeupload. It requires an account though.
I don't think reddit's image host compresses stuff, but that only works for submissions (like this one).

I use GIMP as it's free and quite good for color correction, but the same technique should work in most major editing suites. Just use "levels" and it corrects 90% of a color cast. After doing an "auto levels" you can tweak the brightness and black levels super fast with the slider. You can go further and run the "color balance" tool or "hue-saturation" tool, but it's usually unnecessary. Gimp is free here.

And here's a simple example/tutorial I made quickly for you.
He's definitely talented, but it's nothing miraculous, assuming the keys were sitting on the seat and not tucked into a crack or something. There are apps that will decode your key from a photograph, an experienced locksmith could definitely do this and more.
btw for those interested in learning more, see if you can find a "locksport" meetup - they mostly do lock picking, but the shape/size/bitting of keys definitely influences how you pick a lock. Also do some youtube searches for things like "defcon lock" or "defcon key", here's one of my faves.
> One of post-work’s best arguments is that, contrary to conventional wisdom, the work ideology is neither natural nor very old. “Work as we know it is a recent construct,” says Hunnicutt. Like most historians, he identifies the main building blocks of our work culture as 16th-century Protestantism, which saw effortful labour as leading to a good afterlife; 19th-century industrial capitalism, which required disciplined workers and driven entrepreneurs; and the 20th-century desires for consumer goods and self-fulfillment.

So no, you do not get the first 3 months free. You get ONE 3-month long Premium period, which can not be interrupted (you payed ~ $1 for it, didn't you?), no matter what (except by violating Spotify's Terms of Use, but that should be obvious). Canceling your subscription would only affect what happens after this whole three month Premium period.
(Of course to know this, one would have to read what exactly one actually purchases - which is something not many people do)
I had that thought as well so I googled to see how much he actually made off of those movies. If this quora answer is to be believed, he pulled in $250m (which is a hell of a lot more than I would have ever imagined him making off of the sequels).
So on the one hand, $75m is as you say an insane amount of money. On the other hand, I could see him giving 30% of his earnings. Actually, no I can't. That's ridiculous. No way is that true.
e: and then there's this which says it's complete bullshit. So there ya go
They suck so much because your pain receptors are exposed without anything to coat and protect them (like blood does for deeper cuts). Putting any sort of ointment on them will almost fully get rid of the pain if you manage to keep it coated, and getting some liquid bandage (Amazon product linked) will protect it from any air or anything else touching the pain receptors and completely remove the pain.

A remember sitting in the waiting room for a doctor's office and flipping through a medical supply catalog they had sitting out. Holy shit, everything was so expensive. Even the normal office supply stuff was like 5-10x the price it would have been at Staples. I get business-to-business costs a little bit more than business-to-consumer but everything was way more expensive than necessary.
I remember one of these https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000LNI4O0 cost $85 as compared to the $9 Amazon sells it for. Maybe the medical one was made in America or had special antimicrobial properties but I suspect it was just the exact same as the cheap ones, just marked up for medical offices because they could.

A block is the land, and building's/sidewalk, that sits between streets in a neighborhood. You can go "up the block" or "down the block," which are interchangeable expressions, from one location to another. This book I was reading discussed one such sanctuary where all the long-standing elephant residents who are out wandering in the bush, dozens of miles away from the compound, will suddenly show up right before a new batch of elephant orphans arrive. Yeah. It's really hard to recognize stuff like that because it's literally your own thoughts that are messed up, and "what can we trust if not our own thoughts, right?"
If you're starting new medications or working with your doctor to try and find some/a dosage that works for you, I highly recommend logging brief notes a few times a day, basically just what meds you're on, your energy levels, mood, how much sleep you got. It can help you identify patterns that you wouldn't otherwise notice because your brain's being altered by meds that just aren't right/are too much for you.
Some of the meds I've taken before settling on the right one caused suicidal thoughts. It's really insidious. So please take precautions.
