It's not entirely unreasonable for them to request a same-sex roommate in situations where you are sharing a living space. This is legal under federal housing laws in the US. For privacy: Private Internet Access. I had Linkedin (which was a big joke, even from it's "professional stance"), and when I found that messages I sent someone in response to questions they originally sent to me were never getting responses back (ie. one U of M anthropology student in Cali in particular who was a very reliable old friend and was "Linked" up with never did respond back after I replied to "how I was"), I eventually ditched all of that. I really recommend the two books you got already. I would also recommend reading The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg. It's got a lot of interesting stories and is really good for understanding how habits and habit-breaking works. Those stories are also good for casual conversation.

Can definitely recommend Java as a starter language. It was my first, and is still happily paying my bills (I have no formal training, I've just made things. It's very common to come into programming from a non computer-science background, if you're worrying). It's very widely used, especially for doing the back-ends of websites, and Android apps.

My favourite hands-on recommendation for learning a language as a first-timer is https://www.codecademy.com/learn/learn-java. If you're looking for learning some wider principles, I'd really recommend Martin Fowler's Clean Code (book, but I'm sure you can find it on the net somewhere).

It depends on where you look. Some things have changed in our culture, but human nature itself is very much the same as it's always been. For example, one of my fourth favourite books is Meditations by Marcus Aurelius. It was written before 180 AD and the messages and observations from it are just as applicable now as they were 1800 years ago. Relationships still exist and they are still very positive for both partners.

I think your life would improve if you stopped having so much hatred for western women for two reasons. Firstly half of the population would be opened to you. You could get to know them and enjoy their company and meet some of them who you really might like. A lot of them are quite nice.

Secondly, you would also have less hatred in your life. All this hate only hurts yourself. It fills you with negativity and stops you from seeing the good things in the world. The people you hate don't care. You're the only one affected by this.

Well, I know two families who have suffered suicides. I have to say, after seeing all of the fallout on the people left behind from those suicides, that I really can't support anyone who is depressed committing suicide (if you're terminally ill, that's another story).

Suicide just makes the world a much worse place, in part because it is contagious; it tends to provoke other suicides. The word "degenerate" gets thrown around here a lot. Well, suicide is one of the most degenerate actions you can take. I say that as someone who tried to commit suicide and has been hospitalized a few times in mental hospitals due to serious depression. I've also read, perhaps in that same book, that most survivors of suicide are actually happy they survived when polled.

I've also seen people recover from losses. A couple I'm friends with lost their child to a terrible accident. They almost committed suicide together; but then they realized that's not what their child would have wanted for them. And now she's having fertility problems and will probably never be a mother again, which she is very sad about. I'm sure not a day goes by that she doesn't miss her child. But I've seen her happy. She and her husband are very much involved now in supporting those people who have lost children. Seriously, every time now I see them, I marvel at how they were able to rebuild their lives and how courageous they are. They will never forget the tragedy, of course.
