There's a childrens book called Jonesy 9 Lives on the Nostromo I've never had a chance to read it but the reviews all look good.
Yes, definitely not something I made, I just remembered this banana sculpt after seeing the other posts and thought you guys would appreciate it as much as I did.
However, I did just do a bit of googling and found the sculptor, Keisuke Yamada.
Some are synthetic but traditionally they're just wool or cotton with elastic cuffs

There's some more Xeno stuff in the more items links too. A Xeno pendant and what looks like a Predator helmet ring.
I have a stainless and diamond wedding band I bought from KONOV about 6 years ago and it still looks brand new aside from some very faint scratches on the palm side. They do incredible detail as well.

Are those the same as these?
If so, it is oddly coincidental that I see this today! I literally just downloaded that set of fonts for a minimal linux install (see /r/unixporn for examples).
In either case, great work!
Download it from (who I'm assuming is the creator) Here.
It's my text notification tone, and it scares the crap out of me in the middle of the night. Coworkers say it sounds like a whale ಠ_ಠ
Most table top game stores carry it, if not you can go to amazon. book only https://www.amazon.com/Free-League-Publishing-Alien-RPG/dp/9188805557/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=alien+rpg&qid=1622949836&sr=8-3
I think you're ignoring the underlying themes and allusions that make the movie so great. As well as the fact that the movie, released in 1986, was the forerunner for so many great sci-fi/action films you see today.
One such theme is that of the Colonial Marines representing the United States' involvement in the Vietnam War. That is, a very cocky, confident, fighting force that is completely overwhelmed by something they underestimated.
Another is that of humans and their technology going up against a biologically superior being. Although the power loader battle seems corny on the surface, think about the deeper meaning that is reiterated throughout the film. The following quote from this very nice piece on the Aliens film sums it up nicely:
>"The climactic scene in Aliens is obviously Ripley’s battle with the alien queen. Exoskeleton to carapace, blowtorch to hidden extra jaw, it’s literally a battle between a human plus technology and a biologically superior lifeform."
Also, Aliens was the first appearance of the Queen Alien, which further developed the Alien mythos and likened the Xenomorph to a sort of insectile-space hive, a concept which I think gives the Aliens much of their coolness and intrigue factor.
Other commenters have mentioned Ripley developing into a bad-ass in this film, which is another good point. Sure, female leads might seem more commonplace today, but back when Aliens was released -- it was pretty unheard and a sizeable risk. I believe after this movie Sigourney Weaver became the highest paid actress ever, based on her surprising success.
I actually went kind of crazy and bought two copies of this. One from Target with the book and the 4K from Amazon.
PSA: get the original in-game videos with it.

The original release had actual no-name actors. The Gold-rerelease based Steam version has the development team hamming it out with thick british accents. They put some more detailed backgrounds and more intensity it, but I still prefer the original ones that don't make me giggle.
lucky enough I was able to find some older links,

Wow nice, if you're interested in taking that beyond paper models of the materiel from Aliens then you should have a look at this mod that is in development for Battlefield 2142.
I also mentioned this to another interested in 3D modeling in the comments here as the modeler for that mod mentioned he will be inactive indefinitely on its development.

Alien: Out of Shadows bridges the first two films. I was more weary about this one, as it is about Ripley, but I thought it was handled well. Alien: Sea of Sorrows takes place a few hundred years after the first book, and is about Ripley's descendant. And finally Alien: River of Pain is about Hadley's Hope before the Marines get there. All three of them are pretty good. I'm about half way though Predator: Incursion, which is the first book in a new trilogy. They aren't the best books I've ever read, but I am seriously enjoying them.

Get it in digital first imo. Same comic goes by the name of harvest instead of hive:

You can check other places like Kindle and google play too.
Here is the Discogs entry for it. Currently 18 people have it on their wantlist. So, if you put your name in, Discogs will notify you when someone tries to sell it. I was scratching my head at the Danny Glover appearance, but then I remembered it was his film, Predator 2, which was the first hint of a Predator/Alien crossover. I don't know if the Expo did a similar panel with the cast of that sequel, but if they did, hey, twice the Paxton!
>your big problem with ACM is that you didn't like it and so to you it can't be canon
No, my issue is with retconning Aliens to try and make A:CMs bad story less bad. If it just introduced bad new elements that would be one thing (eg AvP movies), but to have it make nonsensical changes to Aliens is just too much.
EDIT: And as regards the quality of the game, A:CM has a critic rating of 42 on metacritic, AVP 2010 has 68. There were piles of unsold copies of AVP 2010 at my local game store, for over a year.

Pretty good. Not perfect, but way better than what we got. Actually did something unique and interesting with Xenomorphs other than “different looking head”. Great art too

Someone posted links to some pen and paper RPG materials last year. Old thread containing links to downloads for 'em
There are even Aliens army men (contains aliens and colonial marines). They'd work great as tokens, at least for the aliens. Amazon link to buy 'em
Up to an until Hurricane Katrina I did, along with the photo novel and a few other rarities. The only original book from my ALIEN collection that survived was the Heavy Metal comic/trade paperback, which happened to be at my office that weekend (office survived unscathed).
As others have pointed out, this particular book has been reprinted a few times with different covers (I still prefer OP's shown cover) and you can still buy it (link to Amazon page).
Also FWIW, the Heavy Metal publication (ALIEN: THE ILLUSTRATED STORY) is [available still as well]; again, with a cover different from the original.
here ya go (amazon for USA) it's gone up 3 dollars since i ordered it, which was only a little over a month ago
Sadly these are a knockoff, as the dude that originally made them, is no longer making them (from what I understand anyways) So, like all things that are knockoffs and probably made illegally, Amazon!

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be snarky.
Just pick what you like, there's so many cool things out there - the books are always good Last I heard there are 30+ Aliens novels.
Heard good things about Aliens: Phalanx, or you could Aliens: Newts Tale- About what occurs between the colony getting infected and the marines getting there.
Those alien games are good and true to theme but the first one is old and hard to find. The second isn't out yet. BUT. This game is pretty much alien in a box. Escape the Aliens in Outter Space
Some players start as aliens others as humans and none one knows who's who. Humans must escape and aliens must kill the humans. It's kinda like battleship meets tag. Best Alien game I've ever played tbh. And it's a steal at $30
Oh no, not a Walgreens one. I was looking at this one on Amazon. It's much simpler in design and just has a xenomorph head mounted on the front. The one you found is much nicer with it being the full top.
Looks like the facehugger from the NECA Aliens Light-Up Egg. I'm amazed it's intact to be honest, as being a NECA product, the plastics and rubber used as cheap as shit and the tail is very prone to snapping off.
Yeah, like people are saying, Alien Anthology is the way to go. It's what I have, and it absolutely slaps, cover to content. It's 6 disks – one for each official film from Alien to Alien: Resurrection, plus two more of bonus content, all on Blu-ray.
You can get it on Amazon for remarkably cheap if you get it used, considering Blu-ray prices. I got a copy of the whole anthology for around $12, which only had moderate damage to some of the box corners.
Note: I know the link I posted says the product is "multi-media", but I can assure you all the movie discs at very least are Blu-ray in the copy I have of the same thing.
Yeah here ya go.
The Eggs. I got the semi see through ones but there are solid colored ones too, same price.
and the Queen
She was the cheapest. There were slightly more expensive ones, but I couldn’t tell the difference.
And
I specifically got the semi see through eggs, not the fully hard painted ones.
If you're going the glue route I highly recommend things like
These guys, if you're brave enough to click an Amazon link. They're basically really small q-tips that I guess are used for makeup but I have been using them any time I need to get super glue in tight spaces or apply acetone to super glue in a more controlled manner to clean it and they're great. I was using tooth picks for a while but they don't hold as much glue and drip down the wood but the little tuft of cloth seems to retain it really well. That way you can try to just apply on the joints without getting it anywhere else.
You might also be able to get a sort of clear armature stand, like just a tall transparent brace basically so if something buckles its resting on the stand and not the buckled joint.
Right now you can buy a flatscreen monitor for less money than second hand CRT monitors and that's at today's prices - nevermind the theoretical price of such kit in the future where WY are building these ships.
It really depends on where you are as to what's available, but this is a decent basic moisturiser that I find pretty readily available in the supermarket. It's got a bit of scent but it's not what I'd call feminine at all, and it's not heavy or thick feeling. I personally use one with SPF 50, but I'm pretty sure most people think that's overkill.
As an FYI, if anyone is interested, there is a book called Aliens: The Set Photography which is nothing but behind the scenes photos of this movie. Only $16.
https://www.amazon.com/Aliens-Photography-Behind-Camerons-Masterpiece/dp/1785651498
They're from a brand called Neewer
A quick P.S. in the UK, the quadrilogy set was replaced with this version it basically drops the two bonus discs to save fox money.

Only original versions of the comics, I believe, by Mark Verheiden. You can find them less expensive than this, but these are the ones you want:
You can stream it on Amazon Prime Video if you have a prime membership rn
yeah? well Winter from Aliens Colonial Marines doesn't bother put his arms up, he just grabs the thing like this http://www.mobygames.com/images/shots/l/607513-aliens-colonial-marines-windows-screenshot-qte-fight-with.png
and for no reason he moves his left hand to grab it's tail and then just throws, every time a facehugger lunges at you
What can I say I am a sucker for immersion! I've added the unpredictable alien into the mix as well so to make the tension more unbearable https://www.moddb.com/mods/unpredictable-alien-mod Seriously though I plan to play Dead space and then doom 3 with the vr mod to work up to Isolation. Unfortunately I have small children so I can only play at night!
There is also a scorpion that is named after the game Factorio (https://www.factorio.com/blog/post/fff-274 , bottom of the initial post). At the time I was wondering it that would be an acceptable thing to do, but you make it sound like such things are merely guidelines and not really enforceable rules?
I got it from amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/1785659243?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details for only $37 (originally was $50 in 2018).
The book was brand new though, and still covered in plastic wrap.

I cannot say what's best or worst, as I have not read them all. As for where to start, however, there can be no question and no substitute: https://www.amazon.com/Aliens-Book-One-Vol-1/dp/1878574027/
Note that the novelization by Steve Perry replaces Hicks and Newt with new and suspiciously similar characters. The comic book is the real deal.
Good article: https://mubi.com/notebook/posts/in-space-you-can-hear-a-symphony-the-story-behind-the-theme-for-alien I love both themes myself; I think the one they went with matches the utter strangeness of what we see more closely - as well as establishing that this isn't going to be anything like SF cinema of the past, by and large.
https://www.amazon.com/Vintage-Tupperware-Stackable-coffee-coasters/dp/B00ZOEEIRI
You can still get them but they are pricey. Wrong color as well, but maybe if you can't find the right color, you could cast them? Not sure
There's a 2017 German special edition bluray that's not priced steeply on Amazon.
You'll need a regionless player (PS4 or XBox One works).
So I got the hat on Amazon for about $8 US. Also got a set of patches there and stuck Velcro on the back. Alien Movie U.S.C.S.S. Thanks, I think I’m gonna go ahead and do this.
I agree wholeheartedly and I think it's one of the best entries and one of only three that's even good. That's my favorite shot in the whole series, and for whatever reason particularly the frame in this poster, one of maybe two I that I have. Everything from her glistening sweat, to her shaky whimpers, to the way the alien moves its head clearly checking her out and sensing something, it's all done beautifully. I love how it's what breaks an important bonding moment she was having with Clemens too, and its stark shift to one of the most sinister pieces of music in the film. It's all perfect. I will die on the hill that Alien 3 is Sigourney Weaver's finest hour in the Alien series. I think it's her best acting performance and she was clearly seasoned from the incredible roll she was on in the mid to late '80s.
Yeah, comic HERE was good, Audible was great, odd that the book would come out 3rd.
If you have a big head (like me) you will LOVE this version of the hat. I know it’s buying a second, but this version of the hat is such high quality.
Alien Nostromo Flat Bill USCSS... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HGLHF1J?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Just read the reviews. Awesome company too.
I didn’t know Neca was making multiple colors available. This must be a new release. I’ve only seen the black and orange one. Looks cool, I like the retro packaging.
One more note, this book just came out a few months ago (I finished I already) and it’s amazing. It’s a complete authorized behind he scenes about the making of Aliens. The author has written numerous books (all authorized) about Indians Jones, Star Wars and Alein too. Well worth the read if you’re into this sort of book.
https://www.amazon.com/Making-Aliens-JW-Rinzler/dp/1789093104
I don't know for sure, but this book was Giger's first hand account of doing Alien if you can get your hands on it.
It's here in the Collector's Edition on Amazon. Looks like it's through a Marketplace Seller, but it's fulfilled by Amazon so it ships from one of their warehouses.
Dark Horse published a comprehensive series of Omnibuses (omnibi?) for both Alien and Predator comics.

I'm not sure whats cannon, but its all fun.. They don't include series from the last 10-15 years, but most of that work should be available in TPB format.
I kind of wish Alien^3 would have been an Alien 4 after a followup conclusion with Hicks and Newt in the William Gibson Alien 3 script (which came out in comic book form recently). Newt makes it back home with maybe Hicks. And Ripley goes on some other mission separated from them and ends up with the Alien^3 story and film which is still special and liked in its own way. And she could still get cloned/resurrected and rejoins Hick and Newt years later in the "Earth war" storyline.

I bought a version of this hat and did a LOT of research prior. I love this one, highly recommend it, just read the reviews here and buy it!
So, long before I ever watched a playthrough of the game or even played it myself, my first introduction to Alien: Isolation was via the audiobook. It was actually done rather well and gives you some additional backstory not found in the game. I believe it is based off of a novelization, so you should be able to pick up a physical copy of the book if you don't like to listen to audiobooks.
So, I will offer a caveat - this is NOT a technical manual.
It's by Simon Ward, and it's a coffee table behind the scenes look. There is a ton of behind the scenes photos, but not heavy into the writing aspect.
This is for anyone who wants the photos, not the person who wants in-depth writing. I'll be posting a few photos, but if you truly want the book itself, here's the link on Amazon.

8 BR version is £18.99. It has the theatrical and special/directors cuts of each Alien movie plus Prometheus and its bonus disc. This is the best bluray release I've ever bought.
Discs 1-4: Alien to Alien Resurrection. Includes all commentaries, isolated music tracks, isolated original scores. All the deleted and extended scenes.
Disc 5: Alien making of documentaries that were on DVD plus what they call enhancement pods. They are the extras from those extras. So extra interviews and such stuff. Over 60 hours and over 12,000 images between disc 5 and 8.
Disc 6 & 7 is Prometheus and its bonus disc.
Disc 8 is Alien Archive which covers all the extras not found on DVD. Things like the laser disc archives, all kinds of pre-viz, screen tests, even the first draft by Dan O'*Bannon, story boards.
Basically it's a goldmine of Alien stuff.
There is this set that includes Covenant. It excludes all the extras so weirdly you miss out on all the extras from the first 5 movies but get Covenant's as they are on the same disc as the movie. All depends what you want.
https://www.amazon.com/Alien-Anthology-Aliens-Resurrection-Blu-ray/dp/B001AQO3QA
It seems that the DVD version with 9 disks is equivalent to the 6 disk Blu Ray set for around $30. This version has different versions of soundtracks, a theatrical and director's/special cut for each, and audio commentary.
It doesn't have the 2 prequels but I don't like those and you don't seem to care about them either.
Excellent image quality, great audio commentary, etc. If they added in a limited edition facehugger or something they could have sold this for $300 in a massive box set with a coffee table book or something.
I would recommend it 100%.
If you want to know anything specific about the 6 disk Blu Ray set just ask. I have the set in front of me and I can check anything
They talk about that scene, and how apparently 1 of them had to get cuticle repair after their fingers were jabbed during a reshoot of the scene, and how Bishop's actor barely got through the English version of TSA with the knives in his suitcase, etc.
On top of that, this film looks quite good in Blu Ray. And it has the 1990 special edition, which is good, as I consider that version superior to the 1986 theatrical release (I like that the deleted scene makes the leading character in Alien: Isolation canon, for one thing). And a few versions of the soundtrack.
I specifically picked a Blu Ray set which didn't have Prometheus / Covenant as I have zero interest in those films. Plus the version I got is half the price and has more special content than the more expensive version.
The 4 film version has all the same special content as the 9 disk DVD version but in Blu Ray disks, so better resolution. The 6 disk version is twice the price of the normal 4 disk version which lacks some special features. At $15 vs $30, I think the $15 is worth it since I buy movies for special content anyway.
Version with prometheus / covenant:
Version with only the 4 original movies but tons of special content:
For the Quadtrilogy are we talking about this version? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Alien-Quadrilogy-DVD-Sigourney-Weaver/dp/B00433SNF4/ref=sr_1_1?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1523568977&sr=1-1&keywords=alien+quadrilogy

I figured $1.99 for each book but for the trilogy volume I had to jump on it. This may not be news; they could've always been listed at this price, but it really surprised me and I figured a signal boost may be appreciated here.
I think they were comics at first but I only got in to them once they were adapted in to book form (not out of snobbery, that's just how I stumbled across them). They just recently re released the books and I've been enjoying them https://www.amazon.com/Complete-Aliens-Omnibus-Nightmare-Asylum/dp/1783299010/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1494355484&sr=8-5&keywords=alien+omnibus I looked for a free pdf and couldn't find one, sorry. Also, fans who read the comic versions might say try those first but I haven't so can't say, all I know is I very much enjoyed the books. The red vs black element doesn't occur until later in the series but don't let that put you off, they're all great. One last thing, the plot of both the books and comics is the same and were written before Alien 3 so you should probably consider it a different universe altogether. Hope you enjoy!
If you can, you should definitely check this out.USCM technical Manual

The Bandai alien is super good. I found one for about $50 a year ago, might be worth looking for.
Awesome to hear! They are soo good. If you like that one, Aliens vs Predator: War is another one of my favorites. This is a 3 comic novel that's under $9

Oh, and the lighting kit is this...
I have to say I'm really impressed with it. No batteries, has a remote control, changes colors, flashes, strobes... it makes a world of difference, and helps distract from the occasional bit of shoddy workmanship!

Alternatives:
speaking of bad action figures, I couldn't stop laughing in the store the other day when I saw the Funko Predator ReAction Figure - Stealth Predator
When it comes to supplemental media to movie licenses etc, I thnk it's best if folks just come up with their own timelines etc. If you're that invested in a movies universe that you want to read books etc,you can afford to take some liberties with the official canon.
For instance, if you fancy a good follow up to Alien 3, go read The Female War. It's a much better story than Resurrection, and even takes you back to the Alien homeworld.Just beprepared for a couple of new phenomenon such as aliens influencing peoples thought, and you'll enjoy it
Yes that would make sense. I wondered if fossilization could act faster on other planets but I don't have a great understanding of how fossilization works aside from the basics. The idea that the eggs are protected from fossilization makes sense.
I was made aware just an hour ago that this official book may have explanations about many things in Prometheus, if you havn't heard about it yet reddit post about it
You're right, there's some amazing TV shows out there. The Wire is by far my favourites of those HBO shows, but I also have a lot of regard for Deadwood, and I kinda like Game of Thrones, but have my reservations about it.
If you liked The Wire, I can't recommend David Simon's book Homicide highly enough, as this book is a source for quite a lot of the stories and the anger that inspired the TV show.
I would also recommend Paul Sammon's Future Noir book, if only for the insight into the sheer bloody chaos that goes on in movie making, but I have a feeling Ridley Scott may be off your christmas card list for a while!
Finally, I still think that it might be impossible to have a huge collaborative project that has a meaningful artistic vision without it being corrupted by 'the system' in some way, but that the trick is accepting that said corruption is inevitable, everything is flawed in some way, and that in all things we have to accept the bad along with the good. If the work is successful enough, and chimes with you, then you can tune out the bullshit to some extent. If not - hey, there's always the next thing!
