Look no further than those who benefitted from the lockdowns, and you'll find their strongest advocates among the world's elite in government and business. Likewise, you'll readily notice that anyone who uses the phrase "build back better," seems perfectly content to do their bidding.

The only other little concern is that it'd be better if the website used https. Not sure if the OP owns the website, but if so they can easily generate a certificate at: https://letsencrypt.org/ (If the website is being hosted via WordPress, they now have built in support for LetsEncrypt, probably in the settings somewhere).

Back in the 1980s, a book was published on how the USA "really" works ; it's called, The Nine Nations of North America. It did well enough to inspire similar books from then on, some of which pull up in the "also viewed" section of the first book's amazon page.

Breaking the USA up used to be a fun intellectual game. It isn't any more. DC is the enemy of the American people and has been for many decades now , and WILL end even the bare fig leaf of Constitutional compliance and the Bill of Rights if allowed to rule unimpeded over all 50 states.

How a breakup of the federation would look (hopefully peaceful) I do not know ; I have some hope that a "soft balkanization" will develop, as some states go insane over a virus with a 99.8% survival rate, while other state's legislations ban the sort of idiocies we saw throughout 2020 and beyond. Perhaps this "soft balkanization" will lead to a de facto separation and eventually de jure.

That's the only hope, I fear.

I've been using NewPipe for a long time now. Zero adverts, and no tracking. It does break sometimes if YouTube change their API, but they're usually pretty quick to release a fix.

The internet is much more wide than the few capitalist owned Big tech places. But we do need to reclaim the internet by using distributed technology like Diaspora, element.io, etc. The internet was made to be distributed, not focused in the hands of a few companies. That is the downside of the network effect.

Many years ago (the 1970s) when I was still a child I read all my grandma's Christian books, as I was and still am a compulsive reader. There was one I remember called, "God's Smuggler" about a Dutch priest who smuggled Bibles and other Christian literature into iron curtain countries . Brother Andrew was the name under which he wrote, and his book is still in print.

The book was also his autobigraphy, and there's an anecdote in it that I have never been able to forget, as it made a big impression on my preteen brain:

The Dutch also had an overseas empire. Like the British, theirs was technically still intact at the end of world war II, but there was a widespread and growing independence movement, which the Dutch people did NOT support. Brother Andrew recounts how everyone he spoke to was vehemently against losing the imperial revenue, and was willing to use force to keep their colonies.

Then the colonies won their independence.

And the very people who had been most vociferous against colonial independence were proclaiming that they'd been in favor of "granting" independence all along".

Brother Andrew was obviously disconcerted by this, so much so that he put the anecdote in his book. It disquieted my preteen brain so much that decades later I ponder it. And what it reveals IMO is this:

People will do/say/support anything, rather than admit they are powerless to prevent someone or something more powerful from imposing something they DON'T want onto them.

People go along with even the most demeaning, debasing, dehumanizing, anti freedom, possibly even life-threatening covid measures because to oppose them would make it that much more humiliating when forced to accede to them anyway.
