Business partnerships are a pressure cooker for conflict. This is especially compounded by the fact that there's a huge lack of resources for business owners on how to navigate partnerships (very few people in failed partnerships are going to talk publicly about what went wrong).
The truth is, the vast majority of partnerships will fail, especially ones that are setup as 50/50, because it shows a that it was arrived with a quick handshake agreement and a lack of thought put into how it's formed. It's extremely rare that each party brings exactly the same amount of value to the table, has the same opportunity costs, etc. In fact, for tech and science startups, angel investors and venture capitalists will often avoid 50/50's for precisely that reason.
When people are putting their livelihood on the line and are trying their hardest to make something happen, they will have a hyper acute sense if anything feels unfair.
If anyone is interested in stuff like this, I'd highly recommend reading The Founder's Dilemmas, which is based on nearly 10,000 startups (and in fact, I'd recommend Matt & Yoga read it themselves since it could give them clarity on what went wrong).
Mnemonics were a mixed bag - a lot of them were okay, but then there were the outright shitty racist ones.
They were user-submitted ones from https://kanji.koohii.com/ so you can still go there and pick the best for you. This is probably better than only having the two that used to come with the deck.

Unfortunately your VPN cannot access Netflix Japan so it's just showing you the titles available in your territory, not in Japan.
See this thread here about ExpressVPN's issues with Netflix.
People in those threads suggest using Nord or Proton VPN. I'm using Windscribe.
I think on Discord some people said some free VPNs like Softether work, but I haven't tried those.
I'm learning Mandarin too and honestly RTH sucks, this book is what I used to learn hanzis with stories. You can find it in simplified and traditional chinese
Rather than changing the color of the text to match the background, you can make the field a hint field. Instead of showing the field Anki will show a link for you to press to make it appear. https://apps.ankiweb.net/docs/manual20.html#hint-fields
If you want a hint field with furigana you can combine the tag like {{hint:furigana:Meaning}}
. This is what I do. (I don't use audio cards, but by I only show the reading by default.)
Google Fonts has a few fonts in otf format, and you can just chuck it into an otf -> ttf converter. Other than that, I also had to roll the dice on some sketchy websites before
Thanks for the tip, ShareX I have downloaded already, but am not yet able to use it efficiently. Capture2Text I didn't know about, have to look into that. So you can get text from a picture and then copy it fast to the dictionary addon?
My hotkeys are not really working anyway, not even k for morphman. Does it say somewhere how to set it up nicely?
I watch a lot of videos so the subs2srs decks are basically my immersion with retention factor, but how do you do it? In Japanese I have quite some books now, but copying the sentence seems like a drag for paper copies. Also a break from the reading flow. I anyway have problems motivating myself to read. Do you have a way to still enjoy the media while adding them manually?
Do you actually use the MIA sentence card format actually for your cards?
> Eh... every feature that you add is a feature that you need to maintain forever.
I'm aware of that. I'd coded it myself if I had the know-how - I've seen the code for the Anki Desktop plugin and at least there aren't a lot of lines of code.

'kay, first let me set up a Github account :-D
> If someone can show community interest, I'd consider maintaining a LowKeyAnkiDroid with a "Subscribe/Pay what you like" model.
I'd be down for that.
Eh... every feature that you add is a feature that you need to maintain forever. Each setting makes new users even more confused. I'm ambivalent, verging on a slight no as it has limited appeal.
If you add an issue: https://github.com/ankidroid/Anki-Android, someone could feel that it should be in the project.
That all being said, I don't put food on the table via AnkiDroid right now ($20/m ish in donations/sponsors), and I'd like to start. If someone can show community interest, I'd consider maintaining a LowKeyAnkiDroid with a "Subscribe/Pay what you like" model.
Essentially, I hit a keyboard shortcut to toggle my mic to or from soundflower and hit another shortcut to start/stop recording. Automator workflows are bound to these shortcuts to make them work. The change-mic automator workflow uses an applescript script that I found and modified.
It's a little complicated to set up, but it works for the most part.
I just use this camrea point and shoot ocr thing. It does locally stored images as well. I take the text and throw it in anki. Makes mining Manga and anime with subs a lot easier on mobile

It doesn’t necessarily cancel out everything; I’m shit at explaining so just read an article. If you consider getting one I recommend this because it’s what I personally use. It’s kinda of pricy but it’s worth it.
That's what I've been using for quite a while now. Play Store link (It's not available in my country so I had to find an .apk, so this also may be the case for you)
Basically it's an app version for this site so I guess you'd like to check what it has to offer. All the novels are free there, but the only downside is those novels are basically fanfictions so you won't find anything commercial or very popular there.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jee.timer
You can have multiple timers, timer history to double check when your last timer went off, tons of options, paused timers don't reset when turning off your phone, and you can set timers as groups so one will start when the other ends
Pretty much the most overdeveloped app I've seen. Pretty much anything you want to do with a timer this will do
Most will have furigana which makes it easy, and for others I just use an ocr that lets me snap a pic and gives me text and I use that to look up the words.

thats the one I use. it's like 5$ to get rid of ads a year and yeah it's a bit wonky at times but can read almost all of the text I throw at it.
Furigana is a double edged sword though since it can make you rely too much on it instead of relying on your kanji knowledge so I reccomend a mix of that and easy kanji only stuff like yuru camp

This is the one I use. It's full of ads but for like 5 bucks a year you can get rid of them. It works pretty well but you have to zoom in since getting too close can make it blurry.
I used it to play Summon knights on the ds which is pretty pixilated and it can read neatish handwriting so I'd say it works pretty well.
Been hearing about that series going to have to give it a go
They make camera OCR's for phones though, just snap a pic in the app and it gives you text. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.peace.TextScanner
It's like 5 bucks a year to get rid of ads which isn't bad

I chose NordVPN recently for reasons outside of language learning, and did a good amount of research before hand and was reasonably happy with what I found in regards to speed, security and robustness.
I have used it with Netflix and have been reasonably happy with the results, it all just works. In fact I haven't even seen the problem Matt brings up about needing to switch servers. Good to know though since I use the browser extension and that doesn't seem to have the ability to switch servers, its at least good to know it's pretty easy to do in the desktop client (I thought to do this you had to use OpenVPN profiles which can be a bit of a pain)
I actually get significantly more anime (in the hundreds) with my VPN turned off, and it looks like Japanese CC is available with just the UI language switch. So I guess problem solved, don't even need a VPN.
Weird about ExpressVPN though. Guess it must be defaulting to some weird version with only internationally licensed shows due to them detecting the VPN? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Using a VPN (ExpressVPN) and setting my language to Japanese, this
I doubt anyone can pick up much from chatter while sleeping, but tolerance for listening while sleeping really varies between people. I can't even listen to ambient music and sleep, having tried it out of curiosity a couple times. Other people listen enough to get earphones tucked in headbands so they can listen while sleeping beside a partner.
I actually meant the path being simpler as well, since you don't have to worry about having to learn a new script, etc.
And no problem. You don't really need an exact guide though. Just know that you need to know vocab, grammar and immerse.
Turning Your Mind Into an Ally is an excellent book. It was gifted to me by an ex-girlfriend who is now buddhist nun. She spends 5 hours per day meditating at an Abbey in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada. I really enjoyed this book.

Amazon US was out of stock when I ordered mine, so I made an Amazon Japan account and ordered it there. Including shipping, it comes out about the same (slightly less actually).
I was told via email either physical or digital would work, but Amazon Japan will block you from buying the kindle edition. Just order the physical copy and send the order confirmation to MIA immediately. It took me exactly a week to receive both the book and the Tango deck.
