Get yourself an upholstery staple remover like this and a pair of needle nose pliers for removal. Keep the old upholstery as a pattern. If you have any questions, look for tutorials on YouTube! Good luck, it’s a really great chair!

Here's some listings for it, just calling it a hope chest, but I'm not sure I would describe it as such. Looks like yours is in good shape, not a bad price.
Hah, check out this asshole: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/341874009708934
For some reason it's been listed this for months and months and it still hasn't sold. It's crossed my mind to message the seller and let him/her know that there must be a typo in the price: two accidental zeros.
Dunno the maker, though it's gorgeous.
About the globe, is it plastic? I can't tell the size from the photo, but there are a few standard size globes that pretty much all lamps used and still use. If it's plastic, this may be a cheapo replacement from Home Depot or something.
Glass, seamlesss globes are easy to get, if you want to replace it. Measure the fitter (the opening on the bottom), that will tell you what size you need. You can try a Home Depot or Lowes, or an Ace or some local hardware store, sometimes they have them in stock. Or you can get 'em on Amazon. FYI, It's been a coupe years since I compared prices, but when I needed a few 6 inch globes, buying a cheapo fixture was cheaper than buying just the globe.
I mean... this is... kind of original? It's made by Howard Miller, but it's available on Amazon as an "adaptation" of the original ball clock and it definitely looks lower quality than the original Howard Miller clocks or the authorized Vitra reproductions.... I don't think I'd classify either of these clocks as "authentic" George Nelson designs since neither is produced under the George Nelson name.
Thanks! It’s “new.” I got it off of Marketplace for $250 from a woman who’d only had it for like two years. It retails for about a grand on Amazon.
Those are really good prices especially considering the trek they made. I struggle to see how anyone was making money there as those prices would be on the lower end in the UK before the cost of shipping and importing.
Edit: For example here is your new desk (albeit in better condition) in a cheaper UK city. They don't get that much cheaper than that here unless you get real lucky: https://www.gumtree.com/p/other-dining-living-furniture/g-plan-fresco-desk-delivery-available-/1411053077
These are gorgeous. They were manufactured by Young Manufacturing Company probably in the 1960s and are likely made of oiled walnut (the veneer is, at least). Young doesn't seem to have named their furniture lines, but I see this style referred to online often as "bow-front," "concave," or "Kagan style." Throw "mid century" in your query and you should get quite a few hits.
In terms of price.....it all depends on your market. Where I am, given that the set includes so many pieces that seem to be in near-perfect condition, sellers would likely be asking several thousand. Anything under $2.5k would seem fair to me, and I'd consider anything under $1k a deal. I'm curious--what is she asking?
A note on quality: you say this isn't the finest quality stuff, but it's my understanding that Young is well in line with other good quality mid-century modern manufacturers (like Broyhill). Yes, they used veneer, but it's solid wood underneath and very well put-together. Not to mention, the design is beautiful.
I’m talking about 3D modeling on a computer, using Blender. I used to use 3dsmax and Maya back in the day but I’m not paying hundreds for a license for something I’m trying to make into a hobby.
Building physical models though? Hot damn if I had the patience to do that you can be sure I’d have half the basement dedicated only to that. Someday, maybe...
I have a cool book called 'practical and decorative concrete' that focuses (obviously) on concrete but has lots of great pics inside to inspire you. Can be found on amazon for next to nothing

Thanks!
Even though they look beat up, don't throw away those books. Put them in a box and look them up on the advanced search section of Abebooks.
Those green and faded red chairs are mid century takes on the Le Corbusier "Chaise Lounge." Adrian Pearsall later took the idea for his Wave chair. They might very well be a knock offs, but you are in the right territory.
The Zenith record player is an early "portable" stereo. I'm fairly certain it has a nice small tube amp inside of it. Don't throw it away as lots of folks restore these, or grab them for just the amplifier alone. The cardboard boxes were most likely from a "record club."
I know this is your friends grandmother's home, but keep an eye out for hidden compartments and spaces. These might be in the walls, the "built in" furniture, or even the books. Banks didn't have ATMs back then. Folks who lived through the depression were a cautious regarding banks. Seasonal housing often lay vacant for long periods of time. Etc.
You might want to box most of this stuff up and store it at a rental space. You will free up a lot of floor space for demolition work, and you can sort through the items later.
Here's a photo of what the Drexel chair looks like in good condition: https://www.etsy.com/listing/63699642/reserved-mid-century-modern-black-drexel
I don't know that I'd pay $250 for it. They don't command the same demand and prices that Plycraft chairs do, and it's missing the ottoman. Plus, it's going to take a lot of work to look nice again. See if they'd be willing to bring the price down.

That archive includes a JPG for reference and an Illustrator file as well as a vector PDF. Any print shop should be able to me a nice print of any size you need.
You might want to look into ordering reproductions from overseas. The shipping will probably cost more than the chairs will but you'll still save a bundle over getting the genuine article.
You could also try whatever the equivalent to craigslist is there; amazing deals on furniture are to be had used. Since it's plywood you don't have to worry about upholstery or bedbugs or anything.
a piece of crap MDF dresser is more than 60 even used at thrift stores. This thing looks solid and the flaws are mostly cosmetic. I'd buy it in a second.
ETA oh I see interior shots now and the headline that it's record storage, but still, I think my argument stands.
My goal is to publish a full summary of the restoration as soon as I'm finished with the armrests, but I honestly don't know when I'll have them done. In the past few months I've had a death in the family, I was unemployed for 2 months during which time I cared for my daughter, and I've recently began a new job at a company that I like a lot and am willing to work really hard for. So the armrests have taken a backseat.
Anyway, I have posted a lot of helpful details for the process that I took in the restoration in this post: http://www.reddit.com/r/Mid_Century/comments/1v4xqz/my_restoration_project_for_the_winter/
I also recently stumbled on someone else's restoration of an authentic Eames Lounge Chair and he did a great job. Many of the techniques apply:

the metal portion is a standard bed frame. the headboard is a separate item. you would need a box spring along with a mattress. this is mine. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LX4K7DM/ the headboard can be fastened to it at the bottom but will need additional fixings to help support the cantilevered nightstands to the wall. mounting points on the backside may be there but you only have one photo so it isn't possible to know.

Almost certainly just a standard furniture key of some sort. Assortments are reasonably easy to find online.

cool! Improve the aesthetic too. I don't see it as ruining the piece because they would have done a sleeker light back then if they could. The tech has caught up with the style.

you just cut the strip and channel to the length you want and add end caps and wire it in.
Agree. OP if you really want to check there’s a chair book and it’s fairly thorough.
Thank you! I purchased them at Menards for about$5. You can also get them on Amazon for a little more.
What did the restoration consist of? Did they need re-chroming or maybe repair of broken welds?
Restored would mean to put them back in to original condition, why didn't you have the missing clear plastic 'feet' on the floor runners replaced to save any damage to your flooring.

This book explores the Danish and beyond lines.
Hello, mid century furniture store owner here. I’ve owned and refinished thousands of pieces of mid century items over the last ten years. Despite what others say, I’d stay away from any sort of wax finish on the dining table, we’d tends to ring a lot worse than oil. On all my pieces i sell and on my personal pieces i use “Tried and True Danish Finish Oil” (link here. I would have no worries about applying it over your existing finish, my typical application process is to wipe any dust or debris off the table, apply a light coat of oil using a lint free rag. Let the oil sit for 5-10 min, and then buff the oil off using a clean rag. I typically do this once a year to all my pieces. Feel free to message me with any question!

Modern, I believe made in China and sold on Amazon.

Yay!! Love a shaggy mod rug. FWIW I love these retro graphic tufted rugs by Novogratz. The design is very 70s/MCM, sort of like a Rya vibe. They have other cool mcm designs and can be found reasonably priced. Also you might see other nice rugs in the algorithm-recommend designs, NuLoom has a few colorful funky shag rugs as well, Mercury Row and Etta Avenue have some nice stripey graphic tufted designs.

cute.
If you are going to use it, I would consider a safety net cover.
That mailbox is one of like three designs you see over and over when doing an image search for "mid century mailbox" and is readily available on Amazon.
Don't get me wrong: it's nice. But I wish it were easier to find out what sort of variety of mailboxes actually existed back in the '50s instead of having the search results always polluted with stores listing the same few currently-manufactured ones.
If you want to DIY this, I would be inclined to get a white acrylic tub repair kit and do a test area on the underside. There are lots of videos on how to fix damaged acrylic tubs.

That is a super cool and unique design.
You could also just stuff a string of fairy lights in it. They make USB versions, so add a power pack and you would not have a cord. Or add a few fat candles of varying heights.
Or, rather than sterno, use and LED light bulb with flame effect.
Or use DIY alchohol burner: Fill a large flat pottery bowl with salt, pout 90% rubbing alchohol over it and light it.
Not a bad likeness!
And you can read about it at your local library.
Thanks! Not sure where I bought it but it’s available on Amazon now. Warning that the quality isn’t the greatest. We had no appropriate rugs and limited funds when we moved in, so I just bought what I liked that was affordable and will replace with better over time. The price is certainly great now!

You could likely replace with a new style tilt mechanism. I used the one below for my Plycraft chair. You'll want to check the size of the tubing on the base housing to make sure that you'll have a good fit.

Seems like too high. I think 300 is fair.
There's this one in Williamsburg for $40, I can't tell from the blurry photos if it's authentic though. Cheap though!
I happened to come across this on FB, and since it's kind of relevant I figured I'd post it here. It's a disastrously bad refinish on a poor Lane table. Luckily not particularly valuable, but a shame nonetheless. Figured it's worth posting here just as a reference for anyone reading this thread.
https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/207080480595248/
A couple things I see at a glance:
I don't have great reference pics of the pieces in this line, but here's how this piece should look if it were given the care it deserved. The one this guy is selling would be more work to get back to good condition than it could possibly be worth, even if the top veneer isn't burnt through. I probably wouldn't take it for free, let alone the $100 he's asking. At this point it either gets matched with a sucker to buy it, or it's firewood, honestly.
I searched for 'nest tables' and this popped up as the 10th result. They're regularly less than that on Facebook Marketplace. I DID see one set listed for £245 too, but I suspect that's been up there a year.
https://www.gumtree.com/p/coffee-table/gplan-nest-of-coffee-tables/1411620254
As for how that manages to work for them, it'll cost them a few grand for a container, but I imagine that'll be 50 or so pieces of furniture with a better markup? I'd assume it starts to make sense then especially given the quick turnover of an auction. Having said that, this isn't my day job and I have no insight into that, so it's only a guess!
No label, just the description
These ones appear to have labels, but they have wheels on the base and mine don't have any label on the veneer like these appear to have.
This is right by me in New Hyde Park, NY - he’s ruined at least 2 end tables.

Pair of newly refinished, Lane mid-century modern end tables / side tables. Solid wood. Beautifully refinished in Dixie belle Hurricane Grey chalk paint with touch of gold accents. For gorgeous contrast, the dovetail jointed tops have been stained a warm ebony and sealed with a satin poly. Super solid and built to last. Snag them while you can.
I already struck lucky with a beautiful wall unit earlier this year and I'm not much into buying to sell on. With a bit of love, I think this one could really be something!

It may be more than you’re interested in, but Vitra Design Museum’s Atlas of Furniture Design Atlas of Furniture Design is pretty amazing.
I like LED Edison bulbs, not just for the cool look but specifically for their super warm tone. They aren’t very bright though, fair warning. These are the ones I used in my dining fixture.
Is this the one? The two you linked appear to be superglue. https://www.amazon.com/Bob-Smith-Industries-Mid-Cure-Combined/dp/B0166FFFJ8?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1#aw-udpv3-customer-reviews_feature_div
I do some model building and this epoxy is the gold standard for one of the best glues around. It comes in super thin to thicker slow drying. You’d want the slow drying and something to keep it held together as it sets.
It is insanely strong, way more than anything you can get at your avg store. I accidentally glued my fingers together once when some dribbled and had to use a micro saw to cut them apart
Did a bit more digging and found this desk and chair set from the tableau collection which has the same chairs as posted. I also was able to find a stamp online with the hutch where the stamp has the “1220-“ and the separation of “WAL” and “INSP-2” vs the “INSP-3” of the dining table. The amount of matching between the hutch stamp and the dining table has fully convinced me that yes, it is the tableau collection. Thank you again for sending me in the right direction!
Here's one priced at $350 in good shape. You won't get rich refurbishing the $60/80 one in your picture, but at least you'll know that it's worth something when you are done. Should you be considering that effort!

You won't find much on this, but there is a TCC Furniture based in Taiwan that makes MCM furniture...or replicas?
Check out this Offerup listing as well as this piece of mine which, believe it or not, has the TCC Taiwan stamp on the bottom of both the drawers. I scoured my photo files for my picture, but couldn't find it. I'll retake and share soon.
Please do share a pic of your whole "set".
I figure telephone tables have to be super common right? Why is it so hard to find a nice one with a box or nook for hiding electronics? Something like this but nicer. (Maybe I'll refinish one?) https://offerup.com/item/detail/620055754/
It kills me when somebody bastardizes a piece and then casts it off. I'd go get this myself, but my husband would kill me if I bring home another dresser. I keep promising to sell them and then I end up keeping them. Here's the link if anyone wants to have a go at this: you might need me to message back and forth since it's on Nextdoor.
FYI if anybody's in Atlanta, there's a unit very similar to this (listed as late 60's Frigidaire) that's listed for free on FB marketplace.
After a closer look I'm sure it's laminate. I knew when I bought it that it wasn't an investment piece. It's Bassett Industries from their impression line. I'll post some pics tomorrow after I get it cleaned up. Pics below are from the ad.
I know it was common for the time but why go through the effort/expense of a nice veneer everywhere else and but a crappy laminate on the top? Was it simply for durability?
Also thanks for the advice but now that I've really seen it I can't unsee how different the laminate is from the rest. Funny how that works. What would you all think about removing the laminate and laying a veneer on the top? https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/permalink/3617397318532791/
These shades are minimum 14 x 14 x 18. I think you'll find that there aren't a lot of options available, and the ones that are are pricey. These lamps would look silly with a 9 x 9 x 14 shade. And that's actually larger than 9 x 9 x 14, I don't have any shades that small on hand.
I recently rehabbed a gunlocke with banker blue upholstery that had seen better days. Also consider this stuff

Not at all identical, but we got a similar couch and a matching chair. There's also a love seat you can find that matches. They have it on Amazon, BB&B, and Wayfair under a variety of names. It's not super comfortable unless you like stiff cushions, but we really like it.
Take a measurement of the holes on the birds and pick an appropriately sized set of these right angle hooks.
If you aren't using some sort of backerboard and your wall is "soft", like plaster/drywall, or the birds are heavy and the holes just don't fit to studs, maybe pick up a set of drywall anchors.
Those are just quick examples, without any concern for proper sizing, and there are quick kits that have all that stuff, and more, in them already.
I might consider getting anchors that are a size smaller than the L-hooks, so they just screw in, instead of worrying about matching thread size/pitch too much. This makes them one-shots though.
Alternatively, you could use eye-hooks and a very short length of wire to hang them, maybe.
Something along those lines.
I’d paint it some kind of orange and use window film like this to make the glass also some kind of warm color like yellow or something eye catching. Red doors are cool and all but orange and yellow have been scientifically found to communicate friendliness. Congrats on the house!

$350 for an 8x10 100% Wool rug. seems to me if it sucks it's a write off at that price and worth the gamble.
I would get a 3 tier macrame plant hanger like this one: https://www.amazon.com/JUHEPROKIT-Macrame-Outdoor-Hanging-Handmade/dp/B08QGNC84G/ref=sr_1_212?crid=3GP0ISADO11JM&dchild=1&keywords=macrame+plant+hangers&qid=1620756043&sprefix=macr%2Caps%2C226&sr=8-212
and then purchase three small low-light-loving plants like nerve plants, snake plants and/or philodendrons.
Like it.
If there is any chance that moisture from any of the pots or vases might be an issue, consider setting a glass pie pan or candle holder or flat bottom serving plate beneath it ... depending upon the size you need. If you can add clear stick on "buttons" to the bottom of the glass, you can easier be sure spilled water doesn't get beneath it either. This also works if you want to put a large clear glass cutting board beneath several vases or pots (or even your dish drain).

Some time ago I had bought the espresso version of the ottoman. Your version looks taller though, but it’s very similar.

I bought one of these wood tripod stands and just love it. It doesn't really hide the tv, but takes away the bulk of another piece of furniture to sit it on without having to mount the tv to a wall (nice since we are renters).
If it's the same one as in that EBTH listing it's absolutely contemporary. Those "caution" stickers in the globes and on the wire didn't exist until the 90s or maybe the 80s some time. They definitely weren't around in the 60s, when globe shades like that first became popular. Plus the plug itself is unmistakably contemporary.
The plug on yours isn't original. It's a "vintage" looking replacement that's readily available in any hardware store or online, similar to this one. Plugs in the 50s & 60s didn't look like this anymore, they were always molded as part of the wire, and the same color as the wire. This plug is mimicking an earlier style of plug, and someone that didn't know better used it here.
Nothing wrong with your lamp, but it's definitely a contemporary "in the style of MCM" piece rather than a vintage lamp.
May I suggest looking into frosted window film for the clear glass replacements? I had a public walkway adjacent to my unit at my other apartment and I applied it to give myself some privacy.

Get yourself some Lexol leather cleaner and condition. Link
This stuff is absolute magic and used for car interiors, shoes, bags, or anything leather. I use it on my Plycraft replica (real leather) as well as my Red Wing shoes. A lot of the leather cleaners/conditioners or Internet Knowledge is extremely overboard for leather care. The users at /r/goodyearwelt and /r/malefashionadvice swear by this stuff for leather care.
You will not harm or discolor the leather on the chair at all. There's some kind of magic sauce in it. From the Amazon link
Lexol pH-balanced Cleaner is purely a cleaner. NO silicones, alcohols, waxes, oil, or additives to interfere with its cleaning action or to cause dirt to be trapped in the leather.
Lexol Conditioner leaves no greasy residue and it contains no harmful silicon ingredients which dry out leather over time. Lexol Conditioner results in supple, strong, and beautiful leather.
I bought this set on Amazon, with a different inside color. Maybe this can help you find what you are looking for?
Haha yeah that was Amazon.

I share a townhouse and I started this before Covid, but every time I tried to park on the street to give me room to work in the garage I got towed, had my tires slashed, or got hit by some drunk idiot, so I've only been able to work on it one the rare occasions I was able to find some other safe place to park.
The wood is paduk, and that's it's natural color. I used this finish because of it's reported UV resistance and paduk's susceptibility to darkening/greying from UV exposure.
I'm not normally a fan of synthetic finishes, but with 2 roommates and a dog I wanted something as tough as possible.
It was a great learning experience, and I'm considering matting it down just a bit to make it a little less shockingly reflective.
Any critiques/feedback/suggestions would be appreciated.
Self adhesive plastic wrapped around the spots that the cat likes has been a god send to me - and cheap enough that I can remove it when I have people over (I've never actually done that because it's so unobtrusive). This is what I bought.
Anyway, I'm in love with your space! So crisp and clean, and you have some really beautiful vintage (I'm assuming) pieces :)
Edit: Upon further inspection, I think you've already got the plastic covers lol
So I ended up purchasing this today. Paid probably too much (1100), but overall it works so well in our house. It is most definitely teak veneer. The top is solid wood with veneer and oddly the sides are particle board with the same veneer.
The legs are exactly what you pointed out. Definitely walnut, however, I can’t find any evidence of a plinth or anything other than it was likely just a different type of leg. Any idea where I could shop for more square teak legs that might match a little better?
I still couldn’t find any evidence of a manufacturer mark. It was likely a sticker that is long gone.
Last question, I am considering cleaning it a bit with a product like this. Is this something you’d recommend, or just stay away from creating a larger project?
