The last section of The Handler is a big love letter to the chorus of Showbiz. Drum beat, bassline, chords and texture are super similar.
Here's a rough little clip to give you the idea.
I use an audio splitter (example) to route music from my phone/laptop to both a speaker and an Arduino circuit. The code I wrote for the Arduino takes in the music, breaks up the signal into its various frequencies, and assigns a color to the dominant one. For example, I made it so that lower frequencies like bass lines appear blue and higher frequencies like vocals appear more red, and in-between ones are more purple colored. It then propagates that color down the LED strip.
I can use any color I want. I just thought this color scheme would look better for parties. And it ended up matching the overall look and feel of Simulation Theory, so I thought I'd share.
Analyzing the frequencies takes a lot of computing time, so the LEDs aren’t propagating as fast as I'd like. To fix this I'm working on a different algorithm that uses a completely different method.
Edit: clarity.
Here's my thoughts from last night:
Also, here's a cool panorama I took last night, for some reason imgur wouldn't work. https://www.dropbox.com/sc/hyr717e4dp3xqx4/g6qQ6BwqIL
Not sure why people would think this was a professional review. I mean the language alone hints towards a random internet post. You can find the whole thing here: https://rateyourmusic.com/release/album/muse/origin_of_symmetry/reviews/2/
This is good work! I did an edit of the Globalist that added a bunch of sound effects from Interstellar cos I thought it needed an organ. I like my fan-edit better than the original and I wanted it to sound a bit more like it was from OoS. I'll upload it if people are interested.

Seems like 30Seconds is back so I will stop updating this.
yeah we should definitely get a list going on here..... the only think i've seen so far is this instagram video that i'm sure everyone else has seen
link for the lazy https://instagram.com/p/0Q92O-H7rb/?taken-by=m_langham
He's tremolo picking a single C note whist rocking the whammy pedal down and octave or 2. Similar to the extra guitar in B&H, little quick divebombs with the whammy here and there.
I really don't think it is totally MoTP apart from the note being C
http://www.songsterr.com/a/wsa/muse-the-groove-tab-s14017t0
This has pretty much all the proper notes, just that the rhythm of the notes is off at some points (like the hammer on 7-9-7 bit) but you could just listen to the song to get the timing.
For the solo... I watched this a couple of times and just about have it. https://youtu.be/GtaTBkyypgo?t=1m53s (she also does the ad lib intro if you wanna try and learn that too)
So I made a prediction thread with my friend and guessed that [Drill Sergeant] would be like an interlude with possible full metal jacket audio clips
Then I found their video from a month ago, looks like we found drill sergeant!
I am a HUGE muse fan, i've saved up over $300 for their by request gig happening in the US in the future. I do agree this meme was a little toxic, just made it to appeal to the "muse fans" who dont like dig down 😂
Definitely, on that photographers Instagram (can't remember his name Matthew Myer?!?) As the caption to the Drones folder shot he said he was shooting Muse on the 22/02..
Edit: Matt Mahurin was his name and here is the Instagram post! https://instagram.com/p/yyRGxtvVag/
Okay, so it looks like the radio premiere will happen in several countries in about 4 hours. I've read about stations in England, France, the US and Australia so far. Anyone now a German radio station that might play the song?
edit: Here's a link for Virgin Radio live stream in France. They'll play the song at 20:20 CET (click for your time zone).
Indeedy. Listening to all the Instagram demos etc. I can't wait to see how each video fits in a track. https://instagram.com/muse/p/yx9GHCHXRJ/ <<<< especially this. Jiminy jillikers Batman.

The mousepad is easy to create and the coupon makes it only a dollar. You can use any image to create a mousepad but of course only the coolest people use muse (:
I made an eps for you, open in photoshop (or gimp?). Invert the colour for white.
Looks like we are getting it on the Deluxe album if the Amazon leak is to be believed:
I shortened it to 2:20, although you might prefer the 3:30 version someone else did because I had to cut the entire solo and final verse
I have a karaoke version in case you don't want to hear my god-awful singing. I sang because I wanted to try out the awesome harmony at the end.
I just figured out the complicated chords in the song and wanted to cover it. Done in standard tuning.
It was said in an interview with KROQ http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=26990 There are a couple websites that talk about the interview. Here is a clip of the interview where in the last few seconds he says “it’s probably my favorite song I’ve ever written” https://youtu.be/XIR__MSFrLw
Here's a little present from me to you. It's a pair of tracks; Do We Need This? (One of my favorite EP songs) and its Live counterpart. (I doubt many Musers own it, I remember going through a lot of shit to get my hands on it.)
I think Matt confirmed it here: https://player.fm/series/john-kennedys-xposure-podcast from 21min. I remember this post and I've just listened to the interview and heard that, so I think would let you know ;)
Space Dementia is heavily influenced by Russian Pianist Sergei Rachmaninoff as shown here.
There are a few ways you can hear what's being described.
One way would be to download an audio editing program like Audacity, load up a song, and apply the vocal remover tool from the Effects list.
If you have Winamp, you can download this plugin. This plugin is really useful if you want to binge out looking for hidden stuff in Muse songs. It has the vocal remover effect, but it also has a stereo version and the abillity to isolate the parts that are normally removed by the effect. The options for this plugin are found in Options > Preferences > DSP/Effect.
The last method is to slightly pull your headphones out of an mp3 player, should be just enough that you can see the metal on the jack. You might have to hold the jack in place while you are listening, or apply a slight bit of force to one side of the jack to get it to work. Some devices work better than others for this method.
The person ripping it did it by recording their computer audio output rather than just download the files directly from the Warner Chappell site. They must have clicked somewhere that produced the Windows XP Ding sound.
Do yourself a favour and bin them and listen to these instrumentals. The ones from Muselive are quiet and fade up at the start.
I highly recommend this one, its a multi-effects pedal with which you can obtain many of matt's best sounds.

I’d recommend searching on amazon. There’s one marked up for about 225$ if you’re willing to drop the extra money and some at around 300. Origins Of Muse https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XHMPYVR/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_PfqeEbR3X3ZWH (I live in the US so I’m not sure what changes if you’re elsewhere)
I have a pair like these that are great for killing ambient office noise. They're more expensive than that sponge kind, but you can also reuse these.
According to Amazon France, The Resistance will be released on vinyle on July 10th
Non-mobile: this audio technica one
^That's ^why ^I'm ^here, ^I ^don't ^judge ^you. ^PM ^/u/xl0 ^if ^I'm ^causing ^any ^trouble. ^WUT?
Oh yeah, I just got it off of Amazon!

The Story of Rock

Picked this up for my toddler when there was buy 2 get 3rd for free sale. Picked up the Story of Rap as well and another book for myself (but my wife says these were all for me). My toddler is really focused on asking who these people are in the book and it's a lot of fun to share with him. Gives me a little hope for the future...
This Apple page will explain it better than me.
Essentially, the artist provides refined Master tracks for iTunes to sell. Instead of being heavily-compressed MP3 files, these are meticulously-enhanced M4A files which are closer to the artist's original intention. Think of it like Blu-ray vs. DVD. Some people don't care if something looks like it was ported from a scratched DV tape, to a VHS, then imported and burned to a DVD. Whilst others will enjoy, and have the ability to enjoy, quality files.
I muted as much as possible from the guitar and vocals where it still sounds good and I used the synth in the verses from the producers instagram post. So those are flawless. Here is the link to them.
I would be interested if anyone could tell me the timestamps where these files change from FLAC cd masters to the FLAC HD Audio tracks.
The examples are Hysteria, and Knights of Cydonia, and each one changes over multiple times during each clip.
DO NOT use a spectral analyser. Play it in VLC, use your ears, and list your timestamps below. The files are completely untouched relative to one another. Enjoy

Found this (http://www.whosampled.com) through /r/InternetIsBeautiful. Lots of cool info on Muse songs here.
EDIT: also fyi, this site gives you a dismissable popup like every minute if you have adblock enabled.
VK.com is probably banned because it's used as a site to upload copyrighted content and it's not taken down as easily.
Anyway, you have to be logged in to see it, and the bootleg is available on MuseBootlegs.com
The whole last section has arpeggios. I think they were done backwards so in the track they sound reversed, there's a lot of that going on in Endlessly. Most songs the arpeggios are rising or rising-falling, here it's just faaaalling.
To make them really stand out I've reversed the instrumental then extracted the centre https://clyp.it/1u1kp50y
But they are there in the studio version, you can hear them clearer in the last chorus in the gap after "Hopelessly I'll love you endlessly...."
Your listening for falling arpeggios not crazy Take A Bow/Bliss style
It's called rainmeter! You can download it and all sorts of skins or you can write your own.
And hey, Montrealers! I'm an expat at the moment but still loving it here. Went to both gigs in January and don't regret a thing!
I have yet to see them live, but if they've been lacking in the past few years I wouldn't be surprised. They said in this podcast interview that Resistance and T2L were created in-studio, whereas Drones was written entirely through playing together and they could play all the songs together before they ever recorded. With the two previous albums they were often struggling to recreate these monolithic songs they'd created in the studio. Drones and its tours I imagine will be more lively because the songs are written to be played more organically and simplistically. Less musical complications means you can spend stage time enjoying yourself.
I actually found Hyper Music to be fairly easy, not completely sure how it is for a beginner so correct me if I'm wrong. Muscle Museum is fairly simple as well IIRC. Musewiki has tabs that you can use on your phone without an annoying app and Songsterr is pretty good too for the computer. Good luck with the guitar!
OK. You probably want to stop using that at some point and get a proper DAW like Ableton, Logic, Cubase or Pro Tools.
Anyway... try Helm. This is a free software synth. You can get it here: https://tytel.org/helm/
After you install and run it:
Under Mixer (on the left), turn the volume of Osc 2 to zero. We only want to hear one oscillator.
Under Voices (bottom left), turn the knob to 1. We only want to hear one note at a time.
Next to Port (bottom right), set it to ON, and set the knob to about halfway. This means the notes slide smoothly together when you play them simultaneously.
Now try playing the riff (I assume you can figure out the notes). You can use your computer keyboard, but it's more fun if you plug in a keyboard. If it's useful, you can change the octave by changing the TRANS knob (top left, under OSCILLATORS).
These instructions should get you most of the way. You could also try turning on the Filter (centre) and experimenting with those controls to get you a little closer. Have fun. Let me know if you need more help.
Not true, iTunes has their entire back catalogue - including all EPs and b-sides, the live releases on the singles, and even a few other extras that you can't get physically like Feeling Good from HAARP.
Regardless though, buying second hand old Muse singles really isn't that difficult. Even if you want them unopened: https://www.discogs.com/artist/1003-Muse?filter_anv=0&subtype=Singles-EPs&type=Releases
Let's use your example, Execution Commentary - the mint CD single for Plug in Baby with it on, is just £4.99 https://www.discogs.com/Muse-Plug-In-Baby/release/613083
Of course! Contrary to the other CDs, this is an unofficial fan-made album from 2007 that someone gave me for my birthday back in the day (he first wanted to give H.A.A.R.P. but I already had that one). It's a double album called "Do We Need This: B-Sides & Rarities (1998-2007) and features 25 songs including the hidden track Hidden Track. It's nice to have these B-sides together on one album instead of the EPs and countless singles, even if it doesn't count.
In this picture, the only two "fake" CDs are "Do We Need This" and Thom Yorke's "Tomorrow's Modern Boxes" (although I have legally acquired this album by an official download). Other than that, I have a ripped copy of the Newton Abbot Demo (1994) of which the original is impossible to get, but I've also made a complementary B-Sides & Rarities compilation myself to have all remaining Muse/Bellamy studio tracks (I only included alternate takes of songs when they really add something to the studio album releases). I've called this compilation:
Minimum: B-Sides & Rarities
New Kind of Kick
Jimmy Kane
Mimimum
Execution Commentary
Assassin (Grand Omega Bosses Edit)
Soaked
Who Knows Who
Unnatural Selection [5.1 Surround Sound Edition]
Popcorn
Prague
Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever)
Pray
The International (End Title)
~shrug~
http://uptobox.com/hw1fa742udha this was the best copy of the Mayan I could find to anyone curious. 1.4 gb so it's not 4K but probably just the 90 minutes in 720p with likely okay and not stellar audio.
Here’s some mounts that seem to be pretty popular if you decide to go that route. There’s a bunch on Amazon
Vinyl has Futurism too. You can see this on this listing on Amazon.
I reckon it will be the same for Spiral Static on Showbiz.
I know a really good one, it's gotten me every tone i needed (however its fuzz is pretty bad, so i got a separate one)
here, if you have more money to spend, look into a fuzz pedal.

Its big priority is the huge selection of pedals, plus the expression pedal (u can do a lot of matt's pitch shifts, such as reapers, dead star solo)
Although it's blocked, you could use the TunnelBear VPN to make a UK Spotify account if you want. I've done it and it works. Only problem is that the account only works for 14 days if you don't live in the UK.
In case it wont be streamed on BBC Two use CyberGhost (if you don't have it already). Basically like any other VPN service. The free version works for me. It is limited to 3 hours only but the concert itself shouldn't be over two hours long so that shouldn't be a problem.
Damn VPN services kinda suck haha. I'd also recommend TunnelBear but I doubt you'll be able to watch the entire show due to it being limited to 500MB of data transfer only.
Allthough I'm sure someone will record the entire stream and upload it on YouTube.
If you're using a Chromebook, is it one that's compatible with Android apps? If so, check the Play Store for Flud, that's what I use to download stuff from musebootlegs.
Crackle pops should be pretty rare.
If you have a few, you should try and use a anti static brush (I have one similar to this
Unfortunately if your turntable doesn't have a counterweight you might encounter some skipping here and there but heh..
Cool record though, even if it's bootleg, it's pretty nice !
You can also go for a "used" one.
My pioneer cost me like 20$, it's from the late 80's, and it's a beast.
'Course, you gotta know which ones are good and which are bad..Just saying :)
As long as you don't buy one without a counterweight, should be decent
This was the go-to "new" one for a while, maybe it still is now.
I had to upgrade them because reasons, and going with the $100 habit I'm currently using these: https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-M40x-Professional-Monitor-Headphones/dp/B00HVLUR54/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1477840974&sr=8-1&keywords=audio+technica+ath+m40x
I will probably get whatever they come up with next and probably a digit higher (50s).
yes, I own all of the dvds (blu ray of Rome); it's just that occasionally when I want to watch a single performance, it sucks that the quality is pretty shitty
Also, you can get the blu ray on amazon
You can buy it on amazon (uk) - Drones Guitar Tab https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/0571539238/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_MuagxbTRTXQMR
The guitar tab edition has full sheet music, I believe the vocal, piano and guitar version is basically just chords.
I use Earasers and am incredibly happy with them. It takes a little while to get used to them but they are great at taking out the harmful sound but not destroying the quality and sounding muffled.
I have used them at festivals as well as when I saw Muse at Webster Hall this past May.
I picked these up from a local music store, I now can't go to a concert without them. They really keep decent levels of the sound, but just cut down all the ambient shit and help bring the volume down a bit so I end up with ringing ears after.
Large venue shows they are mostly just a volume killer, but when you get into smaller venues, it REALLY helps cut down on all the echo throughout the room of everyones voice and the band sound.
I have a set of Grado SR-60s, I can notice a bit of a difference. I look for it though and have listened fairly extensively to both (without headphones; I've listened to a few of the FLACs with, I only recently got the FLAC files), plus those headphones certainly aren't everyday headphones. If you're really serious about plugging in and listening at a computer, go for it, but the FLAC files are simply too large to put on a phone or whatever - Drones is about 1.15 gigs, which is massive for a phone. Just spring for some 320 kpbs mp3s for your phone, or get the FLAC for your computer and use an audio converter to make them into mp3s.
I bought these a while back, fairly highly reviewed on Amazon. My disclaimer is that I haven't used them at a concert yet, so take my comment with a grain of salt, but testing at home they seem pretty nice.
If you go for an SM58, make sure you've got all the right things to make it work. The majority of microphones are XLR connectors, so you'll need something that connects XLR into a Mac, most probably either USB (USB Interface such as M-Audio) or the mic jack, if your mac has one. XLR down to 3.5mm may do the trick.
Personally, I recommend getting yourself a USB microphone like this one, so it'll plug-and-play straight into your laptop. It'll also sound clearer too because of the condenser form, rather than the Shure's dynamic (meant for loud stuff, less about clarity).
A lot of people recommending headphones, but if you're looking for some cheap buds these Panasonic ones actually kick ass for their price. Great noise cancelling, fit like a dream and the sound quality is incredible for the price. I've actually started using them over my Sennheisers because it's so clear and comfortable to wear.
It completely fits with all of Muse/Matt's references to monarch mind control, MK Ultra, CIA, etc.
Got an old Pioneer PL-200. Cost me squat.
Changed the old cartridge to a Audio Technica one and it's been perfect for a couple years now.
You either have to get old stuff but you have to search a lot, and know which models are good (but it could be a LOT cheaper than new). Or go with new stuff, and the "go-to" one is the Audio Technica LP120
If you choose a wrong one you'll risk damaging your record. Don't get a cheap all in one record player, most of them are complete shit. :)
Maybe as a standalone copy of Absolution Tour, no. But one can find a Region 1 compatible copy of the DVD in the US Bonus DVD edition of Black Holes & Revelations. http://www.musewiki.org/Black_Holes_and_Revelations_(album)#US_bonus_DVD / Amazon.com
It's on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/The-2nd-Law-Muse/dp/B008G12ERC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1343089873&sr=8-1&keywords=the+2nd+law But not sure if it's the Deluxe version or not. I put it in my cart just in case.
It seems to be available to pre-order on Amazon. Not sure why it's $19.59, though. I remember paying $15 (or maybe less) for the CD+DVD of The Resistance.
In the UK, it's already available to pre-order from Amazon here, or if you aren't in the UK, the CD by itself should be available to pre-order.
Wouldn't really say Exogenesis was underrated as I believe it came out on vinyl, but needless to say it's still an astoundingly gorgeous set of tracks. Same goes for Muscle Museum because that was a single.
