Yes! If you take it with a Meal, it Does Assist with Full Absorption.
I Could give you a Ton of Recommendations, but I’ll keep it really Simple. The Following Suggestion is Formulated by the Outstanding Dr. Josh Axe. It is in Capsule Form—which means it is Rapidly Absorbed into your bloodstream; and it comes in a 2-per-day—which easily lets you start out slowly (begin with just one-per-day & then increase when you’re ready); AND this formula is Designed specifically for women.
I think you will love them! One of the FIRST things you will notice is your daily energy-level will be increased! —> Dr. Josh Axe – “Ancient Nutrition” for Women
I have a Bluetooth scale ($40 Renpho brand from Amazon) and when you download their app, then weigh yourself, it sends all your info to your phone. It tells you tons of info like weight, BMI, body fat percentage, metabolic age, muscle mass, etc. It also tracks it all on a graph so you can see your progress.
Amazon has many Bluetooth scales, so you can choose your price range. Here's the link for my exact one though. It's now $60 CDN with a $5 coupon available:
I’d try something with more. I use these. I take one or two and have things moving within an hour. I’m not a doctor, so not saying whether they are safe for you, but just my experience.
Be careful with Metamucil. Makes things way worse for me.
The general recommendation is mininum 0.8g per lean weight. My lean weight is aprox 41 kg sk I am good. Most women need only 46 g (that is US recommendation for average woman). Protein deficiency in developed world does not really exist, unless you eat too little kcal or have some diseases that can change the way your body deals with protein. On the contrary, most people, especially meat eaters, tend to overeat protein which leads to obesity. Of course, I am not a doctor, so don't consider this a medical advice. But there is a book about this topic written by a surgon: Proteinaholic. Long story short: I don't worry about protein. Neither are gorillas or an oxes who are not eating protein rich foods at all. And yet, look at their muscles.
I've been logging my diet.
Keeping a log has helped me pinpoint the things that cause me to cheat and those that help me stay on track.
Just the act of writing everything down has helped my discipline.
Here's the logbook I'm using: One Year of OMAD journal on Amazon
I purchased one of those gallon jugs with the hourly marks because he said he preferred that to refilling a 32oz. This was the one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B099DVDNQG?psc=1&ref=ppx\_yo2ov\_dt\_b\_product\_details
Can you get your hands on any portable appliances like a small microwave, conduction cooktop, air fryer, instant pot, or toaster oven? I bake a ton of meat in my little toaster oven on convection setting (chicken thighs, fish, etc). And if you are worried about any of it being a fire hazard, you can always cover your cooking space with a bunch of oven liners.
Came here to say this. Monk fruit, stevia, erythritol, allulose all should be fine for fasting depending on why you're doing it. This is my favorite sweetener. I also like mixing pumpkin pie spice or just cinnamon in with my coffee grounds so you just get like the essence of the taste.
Keep a log.
Having to write down what you are doing really helps to keep you in line.
There are multiple logs on Amazon, like this one: One Year of OMAD
First, want to say that I feel for you, feeding yourself on depression is already hard, let alone having the willpower to eat healthier food that doesn't give you the emotional rush of junk food. You can do it!
The easiest dish I can eat all week is brown rice + cheap meat.
Invest in a little ricecooker https://www.amazon.com/Aroma-6-Cup-Pot-Style-Cooker-White/dp/B00N9N6GOY/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=small+rice+cooker&qid=1651782223&s=kitchen&sr=1-6 , it will pay for itself over time. Just dump in rice, water (google the amount per cup) then set and forget. Ez. Also it has a long shelf life in a fridge.
I think Chicken thighs/drumsticks are the cheapest lean meat. I try to find a sale and freeze a big pack of them. Hopefully your hostel has an oven: Real easy, get a baking sheet, smear some oil all over the surface to keep chicken from sticking, lightly smear the chicken in oil and slather it in some salt/pepper. If you can afford it, buy some seasoning like garlic salt, garlic powder or rosemary to elevate it.
Don't know about your area, but unfortunately in mine vegetables are ALWAYS more expensive than whole meats (meaning that its cheaper to eat meat and rice than vegetables and rice). If you can afford some, broccoli or cauliflower smeared in oil and salt can sit in the same pan as the chicken to roast so its less effort.
OK, I actually responded to rabernet too so I will just copy/paste those comments here:
Ooooops, I forgot to post it. I was too busy ranting LOL
I always used these from the very start, so I don't have a basis of comparison but its just they always worked for me so I never had a reason to look around.
https://www.amazon.com/Electrolyte-Capsules-Potassium-Magnesium-Maltodextrin/dp/B07RCVX27G
Also:
So what I like is the serving size is 3 capsules, so I can under dose if I feel I just need a little.
I also have this collection: https://imgur.com/a/6lav3E7
I am not afraid of salt at all, I just salt everything to taste, that particular salt brand has a lot of extra minerals in it. If I travel or am fasting multi days I just use the K-caps as I can just take a few with me. Sometimes I do none at all depending on what I eat. But I got tons of each one for whatever reason 🤣

Hey, that is some very smart insight and foresight.
Yes, you will probably need electrolytes! Potassium, magnesium and sodium. You can buy each one or there are some that have all 3 in one bottle like this:
https://www.amazon.com/Electrolyte-Capsules-Potassium-Magnesium-Maltodextrin/dp/B07RCVX27G
There are cheaper options but I never looked into because those above worked for me but I buy each one individual currently. I use those above if I am traveling because its easier.
OK, for the mental part, I completely understand. Just going one single day without food sounded dangerous and extreme to me when I started. Remember this, you are not in danger, you are surrounded by food and if things go crazy you can always just eat and try again later. It really is a mental game, stay strong, it does get easier. If you want a slightly easier route you could go keto for a few days before you start. Keto and fasting utilize many of the same metabolic pathways, you are going to be clearing out your glycogen stores (stored carbohydrates) with both and you will be going into ketosis with both but with keto you can get used to it first with food (keto) before going for it without food (fasting).
Fun little story about me. I used to think keto was absurd, eat bacon and lose weight? OK, sure thing buddy. I thought keto was dangerous and I felt sorry for keto people for being dupes. My first experience with fasting was a 5 day fast. I went into ketosis for myself, I knew something profound was going on, the lightbulb in my head went on and I never looked back. There are a couple mental hurdles you need to climb over and that was another one for me.
I started OMAD again last week but didn’t do it last weekend which made things harder rather than easier so I am starting over. I think for me starting over it would be beneficial not to have off days now until I establish a solid OMAD routine. So the challenge is 100 days of OMAD!
I am also trying to eat mindfully and if that’s something you’re interested in I am going to link this small book called How to eat by Thich Nhat Hanh. (It’s not a diet book)Maybe this can be the first of many Thich Nhat Hanh books you’ll read. I love his books and teachings and feel sad about his passing.
I don't know anything about your medical issues but these are the electrolytes I use, there are most likely cheaper options but I never looked because these are fine for me. All the electrolytes at once.
6' tall male 300 lbs.
I went all the way down to 140 lbs. to try to kill off loose skin, didn't work 🤣 took a few months to gain some back and now I am 170 lbs.
I always used these I think snake juice or ketoade might be cheaper but those always worked for me so I just never tried anything else.
It helps a lot. I get this one on Amazon and it is delicious. Only $30 for 90 servings too!
I get this one from Amazon in the pink lemonade flavor. 90 servings for $30 and it tastes incredible. No calories or carbs and the list of minerals it has is massive.
So this is approximately my usual meal, almost always 4 eggs, the meat might change, the veggie might change.
To start off I put 2 tablespoons of ACV in a shot glass, top it off with water and slam it like a tequila shot.
Then I make a collagen protein shake with almond milk, blueberries and chia seeds and drink it while I prep my meal.
Then I have my 'appetizer plate' which today was avocado with garlic, sharp white cheddar cheese and smoked scallops. I try to eat one fish/seafood a day or I supplement cod liver oil.
Then by the time I am done or close to being done my main plate is ready. I got some broccoli, 4 eggs and a steak...all of it covered in butter. So I didn't get Mission Accomplished today, I had one of those broccoli quarters and a few ounces of steak left but that's ok, I will eat it on my appetizer plate tomorrow with some cheese.
Calories: Pretty high. Macros: Whole bunch of fat, a lot of protein, there is some carbs in there guessing 10 net carbs. Deliciousness: 10/10
I use this to make my food:
Throw food in and press buttons.
Happy OMADing folks!
I randomly chose these when I started two years ago and I always used them because they work for me. What I like is the dose can be adjusted to your needs because one serving is 3 capsules.
https://www.amazon.com/Electrolyte-Capsules-Potassium-Magnesium-Maltodextrin/dp/B07RCVX27G
I use the Aria 2 FitBit Weight Scale: https://smile.amazon.com/Fitbit-Aria-Wi-Fi-Smart-Scale/dp/B0752M6T6K?sa-no-redirect=1
Those scales aren't always perfect, and when I hit GW, I'll probably plan to do an assessment somewhere with better tools, but for now it definitely does the job. Seems to track as well.
You can try using these glasses at night during your gaming and other screen time, it will help:

Yes! Exactly what this ☝guy said! I use this when I feel fatigued. Electrolytes and instead of coffee I take wheat grass juice powder in the morning which acts like very strong cup of coffee for me. Coffee dehydrates me and give me severe intestinal inflammation. There's another electrolyte powder made by this Dr.Berg guy that has more potassium, I might try that when mine runs out.

You knocked out 5 days in a row right away? LOL Wow! You are doing fantastic! It should be getting easier now, your body is getting used to it.
Great job being smart about what works for you. Eat them veggies! An essential nutrient is one your body needs but cannot produce itself, there are about 20 amino acids (proteins) and 9 of them are essential, you can get these "whole" or "complete" proteins from veggies you just have to do a little extra work in looking into it. Also, vitamin B12 is really just from animal meats, so you may need to supplement those.
Or have eggs, eggs have everything. Think of it this way, each egg has enough nutrition to build an entire chicken. LOL Fats are also an essential nutrient so don't go zero fat.
Dry fasting might be better for things like autophagy but no one really knows. The only issue there is dehydration, so if you start to feel "off" or dizzy or muscle cramps your electrolytes might be out of whack. You can buy supplements that have the electrolytes in one capsule, I do this, I buy THESE
I eat one with my meal. That's under the recommended dose because I don't need more than that. But when I started I had these around with me.
You should be losing weight, if you are, keep going! I think you are doing this perfect and its impressive you just jumped into it and went 5 days!
Yikes! Well I eat HFLC and I am OMAD, two years later I still get satiated pretty quick so in my experience, no, it would be difficult for me to get that much food in. Maybe in your circumstance 16:8 fasting would work better. I'm just a dude on the internet so keep that in mind, I do think you are on the right path. Fasting improves gut health and I can't see why that wouldn't be beneficial for sibo. Autoimmune diseases might be a symptom of inflammation. Both sibo and autoimmune diseases might be due to the #1 inflammatory agent and destroyer of gut health...sugar. The best way to clear that shit out is your diet.
Its pretty common to have vitamin D deficiency and that vitamin can help the immune system both up and down regulate. Its keeps the system in check. You could maybe talk to your doctor about adding that supplement.
Also, us modern humans don't eat nose to tail, we eat the muscle meats. The nutrient dense parts are the organ meats, so you can eat things like liver or what I do is I buy desiccated beef liver tablets. Lots of bio available vitamin A and magnesium that may help you sleep. I think of it as the multivitamin for us meat eaters.
The ones I used are linked below, antibiotic free, grass fed/finished, freeze dried. You can start off just having one or two daily and then add another after a week or two, then just keep adding one tablet every two weeks.
You should consider trying snake juice (recipe link here from some random reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/fasting/comments/9gcaz3/snake_juice_recipe/) or, if you don't want to mix your own, just buy any zero-calorie electrolyte mix. I use this random stuff from Amazon called "Junp" (?!) and it hasn't killed me yet! https://www.amazon.com/JUNP-Hydration-Electrolyte-Electrolytes-Supplement/dp/B08M6866YK/
These are the electrolytes I take because I'm lazy lol and they taste good. I just mix a couple scoops in a shot glass and throw it back. Most people just create their own but if you're interested they have a few different flavors.
I use this one. Cheap and works great for tracking progression. Just don't take the numbers other than weight too seriously (body fat %, etc). These types of scales can't really accurately get those results, but instead focus on the trends with those numbers.
