It's called Fluid Navigation Gestures (Fluid N.G.). Available from the play store, does not need root. It does require a command to be sent from PC (adb) to give it permissions to hide the old navigation bar: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fb.fluid&hl=en_US
Definitely use a third party app. Photos is literally only good for backing up your photos and using Google's image search when looking for a specific photo or subject.
I use Focus (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.franco.focus) but I'm sure others can recommend other great gallery apps as well.
Not entirely true. Belkin makes two Google certified wireless chargers that will output 10 watts.
Belkin Boost Up Wireless pad: https://www.amazon.com/Belkin-Wireless-Charging-Google-X-Large/dp/B07HNZ3W7X
Belkin Boost Up Wireless Stand: https://www.amazon.com/Belkin-Wireless-Charging-Google-X-Large/dp/B07HP1FHQ9
I have both. Both work amazingly well.
I got this one from Amazon, it only had 3 reviews, but I'm really impressed with it. It's a bit bulky but I like it. This was for the non XL.
The buttons work great and the sounds still sounds good. Consequently, anyone have good screen protector suggestions? Preferably the full sticky ones, not the ones with glue only on the edges.
Ahh. Not sure how I misunderstood that. Out of curiosity, have you tried another electrical outlet on a different circuit of your home? Or perhaps, is your charger plugged into a surge protector? It could be a home wiring issue and not a charging brick/cable issue.
Do you have access to a multimeter? If not, you can get one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Eversame-Multimeter-Voltmeter-Indicator-DC3-6-30V/dp/B07JYVPLLJ
Use it to test the power brick and be certain the output there is what it should be. (5v, 3.0A)
I've been very happy with Read Era. Very capable, zero ads.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.readera&hl=en_US
Do not download Alarm Clock - Wake Up with Music. It has super annoying pop up ads that are full screen and randomly pop up even when you aren't using the alarm clock.... I did find another alarm clock on the Google Play Store that was free and had no ads. 'Alarm Music' makes my alarm loud and it's free work no ads. Here's the link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=odeveloper.musicalarm
I don't use the normal app I use Relay for reddit and it seems to work fine
you can probably do some analysis here https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3
i've done some myself and if you look into what is being used, apple and samsung always come with newer components while google sticks in processors later in their life cycle.
google has also historically been stingy about RAM and battery, and has lagged behind on screen quality.
Seems like you moved all your photos to Google Photos (the cloud). You're gonna have to manually download them back onto your device if you want them accessible through your file browser.
Also, they should be visible on https://photos.google.com in your browser (and downloadable from there to save to your PC without transferring them manually from your phone using a USB cord).
That's one reason why having wireless charging on it was so great. You didn't have to worry about your port dying.
I use these now to protect the USB C port.

Another user of this subreddit suggested using the NEWDERY Google Pixel 3 Battery Case. It's approximately $40, but you don't have to worry about possible breakage.
I just got this one a few weeks ago and I really like it so far: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B096SB15HL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Hasn't had any issues yet, although the USB cord is a bit short so I had to use a spare one laying around. I also already had a 12V car charger adapter, which this doesn't include.
I keep running into this one. NEWDERY Google Pixel 3 Battery Case, 4700mAh Slim Extended Charger Case with TPU Raised Bezels, Rechargeable Charging Case Cover Compatible Google Pixel 3 (Not for Pixel 3A) https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07GB4Y3P5/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_1Y0RBQST44VYG62BYXX8
I picked up some USB C covers . Since I usually charge wirelessly, I seldom remove it.
If you're ok with a similarly spec'd(if not better) phone with a headphone jack, unfortunately slower updates but much cheaper then take a look at the LG G7

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H5R3QLV/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_R7J1AFFPWPP3GJ1PT52C
This is the case I am talking about. There is an indentation inside the back of the case for a stick on magnetic plate.
Not magnetic but I use this, it's been great.
iOttie Wireless Car Charger Easy One Touch Wireless 2 Qi Charging Dashboard Phone Mount for iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, Huawei, LG, Smartphones https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07X4YDKTF/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_SHJF2KWKY7V0WY40X9E3
Think about it... the phone is off. The battery has no real current draw at that point and is therefore losing charge on it's own. That means the battery health is terrible and needs to be replaced. But if you want to be sure, download this app, charge to 100%, then you'll get your answer.
I use KeePass2Android on my Pixelbook and Pixel 3 and KeePass2 for Windows. They're open source and free. I've been very happy with both products. You can find KeePass for Windows here https://keepass.info/ (use version 2.4) and KeePass2Android on the Google Playstore. I store the data file on Google Drive so that I can access it from all of my devices.
I bought one of these...
USB C to 3.5mm Audio Adapter 2 in 1 USB Type C Male to 3.5mm Female Stereo Earphone Converter Dongle and Charging Adapter Compatible with Google Pixel https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07MQSJJ7X/ref=cm_sw_r_apanp_nhIO3cMROoroB
It's good for charging and listening to music, etc. I noticed with mine, however, that there is a lot of buzzy interference when using it for voice calls. I can't hear any interference on my end, but whoever I'm talking to points it out that they can hear it.
If you're just using it for charging while watching movies on a plane or listening to audio, it works fine. There might even be better brands/models that don't buzz if you shop around.
I got mine off of Amazon in Canada, but you can check your local retailers depending on where you are.
I loaded it through the Play Store when I first got the phone. Funny thing though, I just went to have a look and I can't find it in the Store. I looked online and found some news articles saying they discontinued it.
It IS still on my phone though, so I back-traced it to find the Play Store page where I can see it. I don't know if it'll install it or even open the page for you, but try having a look...

Download an app called DiskUsage from the Google Play store. It's free and should be easy to find. ~~I don't have the link handy, but~~ the icon looks like a little green microSD card. **edit... Found it... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.diskusage
Anyhow, just run it on your phone's drive, and it will make a visual graph of what all files are on your system and how they're divided up. It'll probably help point you to the culprit. I use it to check when my system is getting full, and it's always been good.
There's an even cheaper version with USB audio too! JUST MIXER 2 : USB Audio Mixer - Compact USB Powered Stereo Desktop Mixer w/ 3 In / 2 Out (3.5mm) plus USB Audio Output https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071RZSGFR/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_-KlCCbD85WEGR
Might order from Amazon to test and just return it if it doesn't work.
Ownest magnetic case had been amazing. Works great, and I have dropped my phone several times and come out unscathed. $8 on Amazon. Saw this on amazon as I plan on buying one after the holidays. Looks pretty solid..
Mine was doing the same thing and I was able to see my cpu cores were pegged at 100% even with no apps running. I used cpu monitor to see this info. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.glgjing.stark
I then went to developer options -> running processes and was able to kill some random system ones. That seems to have fixed it, after a reboot my phone is only draining 1% an hour vs 25% earlier today.
I went into developer options and killed some processes. I was able to get the cpu to go back down to normal and now after a reboot I'm only draining 1% an hour with screen off.

You can use Super Status Bar to hide the time, battery icon, and battery percentage, like so. However, it seems some features require one to pay to use them, so try the free version for a bit before deciding if you'll buy the premium.
So I found a solution. It does require a 3rd party tool. I have personally used it for years and is the only one I have and would suggest. I haven't run it for a while, but when I did, everything is working again. The tool is SD Maid. Let me know if you try it out and if it worked for you.
Blokada can block ads system-wide. In your VPN settings, set it as "Always-on VPN".
Firefox Preview supports uBlock Origin.
After that, I guess you just need to find the adware you've installed. Look at all your installed apps in the Google Play Store and uninstall those who contain ads. If that doesn't work, you can always do a factory reset and not restore the backup.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.franco.doze
Probably the best solution. You have to go to adb to enable it but when the phone is sleeping. It puts into dose mode really quickly and trys to save more battery. Reviews look promising
If you just want it to LOOK like the Samsung, download a custom launcher, like Nova Prime, and install a One UI icon theme, such as this one (not mine, just grabbed the first highly rated one I saw):

The Pixel is very easy to modify, thus a lot of its appeal. If we knew more specifically about what you were trying to change, we'd be able to assist more. But that should get you started!

Even in safe mode it doesn't. I think I've discovered the cause. I'm a US user, but currently living in the Middle East where the channel the 5ghz broadcast is on isn't permitted here. Restarting the phone in airplane mode prevents it from picking up the location and following regional rules about connecting to that channel.... Since I'm running an ExpressVPN flashed router I can't adjust the channel broadcast. Looks like I'll just have to do this bootleg method to get on the 5ghz band for the foreseeable future
Don't go to Verizon. They will rip you off. Just go on Amazon and buy a cable that is known to work for under $10.
I got a new pack of Omoton protectors from Amazon. You get 4 for $9. All is good on my phone. No Halo. I used these on my 6p and now my p3.
As a new Pixel 3 owner trying to set everything to dark mode, it appears to be strongly app-dependent. My (mis)understanding is that inheritance of the system-wide setting is a work-in-progress for many apps.
So far I've got most of my apps darkened, but occasionally there's splash screen (e.g. Slack until very recently) or settings screen which blasts the light. My preferred keyboard, the Hacker's Keyboard, has a very nice Transparent (experimental) Keyboard Theme which provides a clear illuminated keyboard appearance (though its settings screen is bright).
Pixel 3 Google Edition, fully updated. Rebooted, checked settings and found no Theme option as described in the Help page. Stopped the app, cleared cache and storage, started it, clicked through the intro modals to Settings and still no Theme option available.

Gmail was last updated 25 Sep 2019 and Play Store offers no update, but the Gmail page shows the last update was 3 Oct 2019 but notes that
>Current Version
>
>Varies with device
so clearly they are still rolling out this version.
I think Adaptive Battery is enabled by default but it might be worth checking to make sure it is.
Also, AccuBattery will tell you the discharging speed for each app in terms of % per hour. Android displays total percent and total time used, but not the rate.

I asked a few months back and got this as the only reply. Never tried it out personally.

Update: I've downloaded so many alarm apps trying to find one that uses both speakers and I was about to give up, then I found 'Alarm Clock - Wake Up with Music' by Suproject Team. This app uses both speakers and is so much louder than the stock app. I like my phone except for the alarm, and now it looks like this app will make me want to keep my phone. Here's the link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.flystuio.alarmclock
I'm am using substratum on stock android. Pie with the Jan patch. And sure.

Swift works really well. Constant updates for whenever apps get updated and I love my black theme with custom colouring for everything.

I still haven't tried it. The reviews weren't too great on audio quality. I'll report back if I do try it, I still haven't found anything better.
In answer to my own question, this is the design that likely works best, with a DOUBLE fold, so that no card is pressed against my screen all day.

Now to find this sort of this out of better materials :)

I originally pre-ordered mine and it came with the stand. I shortly after returned both of them as the phone went on sale (without the stand) and I bought the same phone again at the sale price.
Personally, I never used the stand; though it was in my kitchen. If you had it in your bedroom might be different but there are much cheaper wireless chargers to be had.

Personally I don't like phone cases so I go minimal to protect the glass back and hold the screen off the table by a tiny bit if I put it face down. I am using this Spigen one, works fine with my wireless chargers.
