I looked at this a good ten times before I realized that it looks an awful lot like Caleb's dad's (Uncle Jamie's) barn. In 3x19 he's doing some work on it so he could have fixed it up like this. Here's a screencap from that episode. I realize it's a bit blurry, so excuse me for that. The material of the building looks identical to me as do the placement of the doors, both the main one and that weird one up toward the roof. And from what I can see it looks as if there is a light near the peak that looks very similar to the one in Mar's insta picture.

I JUST realized from watching the clip in your post that Emily's flashback is actually a scene from the famous painting Nighthawks by Edward Hopper (Yes! My art history background finally proves useful!). Not exactly sure what this means in relation to the show though, other than the painting being of a scene in NYC, where the end of season 4/beginning of season 5 take place. The themes of the painting are isolation and loneliness. Thoughts?

The glass (mostly broken) and mirrors thing is EVERYWHERE in this season. It means a lot and it's in every episode. Through a glass, darkly is even a title for an episode! This is why a lot of people think its Melissa cause there are literally no other brunettes in PLL that it could be but her hair seems like two completely different colors and she might have dyed it or it could be the lighting she's under but it seems like different colors to me. And if both RC and BV are meant to blonde I feel they would make them so and like put a wig on her if she dyed her hair.

According to THIS the only thing that happened in 2004 was Malcolm being born. Which should honestly have NO bearing on the story as it is now.

I can't check for sure but if you have an amazon account you should be able to buy the ebooks. I know they have it in sets here and here. It's kind of pricey. I also know b&n carries the ebooks. I know google books has it as well, but it's more expensive. You can get it through the play store on android.

As for downloads & such I am not sure. If you do google to read pretty little liars online some stuff pops up. You can try and torrent, but that's pretty risk anymore now with the better sites down.

Well, if you have a legit vpn (some universities offer them to students and alums for free), then you can use that without an issue. I have the Zenmate extension, and Netflix worked with it for a while, but I think someone got wise and now it doesn't anymore. My guess is that most of them will have the same flaw. It'll load up the shows, etc, but when you press play it'll throw an error. Sorry, wish I could be more helpful than that!

yeah I totally agree. there were so many things they could have done with her. and for her to become an english teacher down the road, is a little weird to me too. I know there have been a lot of literary references in the show, and Ali has some specific to her as well such as Lolita and she mentions The Art of War, etc. To me, it didn't quie make sense... a school counselor or something like that would have made more sense to me.

Also, Amazon's copy has 9 stories in it, and includes "The Birds" (not the movie version with love story), and another story Hitchcock made into a film; and one called "The Blue Lenses" where blind girl has surgery to see again but sees way more than she expected afterwards; plus some story called "The Alibi" where a guy suddenly has a vision he's the puppet-master of everyone in town. The reviews at link above to Amazon give away a little more.

Oh, and there's a serial killer in the Red Coat girl story. Something that's so subtle that many readers apparently missed it (or didn't want to spoil it?), which actually explains a lot of the end "horror", and which is clearer in the 1973 movie.

It's pretty clear that some of these stories (especially in the title story) are similar to things we've seen in PLL. I just don't know (like other readers) if these stories are related. There is an academic paper about the first 5-story version; this theme and curiosity is discussed. (The author died in 1989 I think.) Also warning to people who want to enjoy the stories: the intro gives a lot more away than I did (!!!) that makes the stories less enjoyable, according to Amazon reviews. But, the neat thing for PLL watcher MIGHT be that the intro is in part written by Shirley Jackson. (Finale spoilers to explain that reference below)
