I live in a region where large birds of prey aren’t common in the downtown area where we live / play at the park, which takes away a huge stressor.
I wouldn’t recommend free roam training outside if hawks or vultures frequent your skies! Safety first!
The biggest stressors for our bun was traffic noises and other animals (I mean children) at the park, so we slowly worked on those in baby steps.
First, we bought him this backpack carrier from Amazon (I know, Jeff bezos, rich eat the poor, don’t support yada yada but Amazon is the only place that stocks anything like this around me) it has lots of air holes that allow him to see and hear the city while we walk around.
If he ever looked super stressed, we took him home. But we walked around with him as much as possible until he eventually got used to the backpack, then we got him leash trained.
I’m doing leash training in my apartment, we also included free roam / off leash training in the safety of our home.
Once he got trained to my liking, we started slowly outdoors in an x-pen to help him get used to being outside, free roam, in grass.
He freaked out a couple times and of course he tried to escape as all rabbits naturally do, but instead of reprimanding him we just kept a watchful eye on him. This let him know that 1) we’re aware of him and he’s aware of us, 2) he gained independence in a safe space, 3) he felt accomplished and immediately came over to me to give kisses (which is how he shows thank you)
Lots of patience, lots of understanding, and lots of open minded training sessions that never went the same way twice.
Thank you so much! It’s actually a super lightweight x pen made out of plastic and metal that is joined together by little pieces. You can make them whatever shape you want, it’s very versatile! It comes with 12 panels total, you can make a rectangle or a square pen. Super cool.

Rabbits technically stick to their favorite spots to do their business. My first suggestion is using a large enough litter box that they can easily get in and out. We use something that looks like this:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KV8AMTY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_kuJmCb02KCPGB
This litter box will be the ONLY place you give them hay. We do a medium layer of shredded paper-like litter compost and a big mound of hay in the box. They poop where they eat hay and will tend to pee there too. For the first few weeks you will have to scoop up any poop and pee and place it in this box so they associate the box with their scent.
You will want to place the box where they tend to poop/pee the most. If you have 2 rabbits then you technically MUST have 2 of these litter boxes. They do not like to share scents where they go potty.
Last ditch effort is to actually do some mild discipline. Whenever you can tell they are sniffing out a spot to potty (or during) you literally pick them up and put them in the litter box, and kind of apply some pressure to their head to keep them in place in the litter box. Once I started to do this each time, I would literally just look at my rabbit when he was sniffing out a spot and he would get “caught” and run to his litter box. Became habit after that too.
Hope this helps!
Have you ever thought about getting a box seat for him? I’m just worried that if you ever have to stop quickly or get in an accident he would go flying.
Here’s one on amazon
Pet Gear No-Zip Happy Trails Lite Pet Stroller for Cats/Dogs, Zipperless Entry, Easy Fold with Removable Liner, Storage Basket + Cup Holder https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073STQ8HX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_82XXCbJ9D8RR3
This one
You spay/neuter them. You put their hay feeder above their litterbox. Then you put almost no effort into litter training them but it somehow works.
Then you buy cord protectors for everything for a grand total of idk, like, $20 bucks on Amazon. Realize that buying cord protectors that go against your wall actually make your home look better too. Splurge an extra bit every month to get decent litter and litterpan liners. Throw out the trash every 3 days without having to wash a box and feel like a king.
Pick up stray “territory poops” on occasion. Remember to exclaim to yourself each time: “wow. These aren’t even like poop. It’s just hard brown grass balls. These are so weird. Shouldn’t I be grossed out by this? Why aren’t these gross? Why can’t our poop be this great? If I ate like a rabbit would my poop be like this?”
Bam. You’ve got a house trained rabbit. And a rabbit-trained person. Move on to the task of convincing them to love you.
Mine goes crazy for this treat ball where you can put little treats in it. He'll push it around for an hour or until it gets stuck because of the yummy smells.
In case anyone doesn't get it, you leave the thing open so if they push it in just the right way, the treats spill out and they get them.
Here’s the link! I know it’s silly to buy cardboard, but it came precut and with no ink. The bunnies love it and get out all of their destruction by ripping it up instead of ripping the carpet or baseboards

Awww cutie! :)
But if I may offer a friendly suggestion... try to get him a more solid floor so as not get sore hocks on his feet. Wire grates can be quite bad for bunny paws and cause painful blisters of sorts called sore hocks... especially such wide wire for such a tiny bun
Maybe for now something like this resting mat could work to take some of the metal pressure of feet and be a bit more gentle https://www.amazon.com/ASOCEA-Rabbit-Guinea-Hamster-Animal/dp/B07HNP7NZF/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1543203489&sr=8-3&keywords=cage+resting+mat. The poops would still fall down.

PS: based on your other posted of the cuties, your bunnies are super loved and you know about the wire floor, but I want to share the mat idea just in case it helps. :)
So I'm fortunate enough to have a bun that a) doesn't have an issue with slippery/hardwood floors and b) doesn't chew baseboards. I still have quite a few blankets and carpets all around the apartment so he's able to run around and binky without slipping.
BUT in the past I've had issues with him and my other rabbit chewing on baseboards and I've opted for all-natural bitter sprays. They're completely safe and they just make baseboards or any wooden elements of your home taste nasty so rabbits won't want to chew them. I used this: https://www.amazon.ca/Fooey-Ultra-Bitter-Spray-4-Fluid/dp/B000FOYMFU
Lollimeow Cat Carrier Backpack,Dog Carrier for Small Dogs, Bubble Pet Carrier Airline Approved https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DRNTNRP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_7ruaEbBF4Y94Y Since she’s a holland this backpack felt good so she could see and stretch out, but I never thought she’d be so comfortable in it that she’s prefer to have us take her out so she can go in haha!!
What a cutie!
Please consider adding something solid over the wire flooring though - like a piece of plywood, or any wood scrap (not particle board though), some carpet, a rest mats like this https://www.amazon.com/Pieces-Rabbit-Hamster-Prevent-Disease/dp/B0721QM73D/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_199_bs_img_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=D3KPHGTPKEN9FAKRXDTG.... anything you can think of to prevent bunny from being on mesh wire floor.
Wire floors are bad for bunnies and can lead to sore hocks - painful foot blisters that are hard to get rid of. They are really difficult to run fast on or biky...
According to Amazon:

We too have issues with bunnies loving the spicy hay.

Pudding is wearing a size small. But I actually got a medium for my nethies BC their necks are a bit bigger than Pudding
Stuff old or cheap cushions under them for now. I also use grid cube panels to block off areas using zip ties to make different heights or widths.
Rabbits are REALLY project orientated. So if she finds a place she wants to get into or something she wants to dig/rip /chew (like a corner of the carpet or sofa) then wild horses won’t be able to stop her coming back to it constantly.
Always have spare cardboard boxes you can use to distract from her destroying the carpet or furniture by putting the cardboard over the area she wants to destroy so she can destroy the box instead.
Not all rabbits get the mad fixation on destruction. But mine are seniors now and still go through phases of being obsessed with destroying a certain part of the carpet or furniture..
I got it on Amazon:

But you NEED to look at this super cute strawberry one!!

Damn. Those branch chews must taste so good! We don't have a farmers market near us and tbh, I don't feel entirely too comfortable with them here either. I miss my old small city one. It was in the middle of farm and Mennonite country on one side so it was organic AF.
Anywho, the first three here: keys, cups, interlocked rings) were a hit.
Something I did with the stackable cups was hide a fragrant treat, show them and then let them go HAM finding them. The keys they like to throw around and make noise with. You can hang the rings and let them play.
Here a plastic slinky. It's baby safe so it should be decent for a bunny. But I'd suggest getting the first three before indulging in more of the other toys. Encourage them with tons of treats!
I think we both have VERY picky bunnies so let me know if you need more suggestions. All my fingers and toes are crossed for you!
wow... try getting him something like this https://www.amazon.com/AMZNOVA-Scratcher-Cardboard-Scratching-Scratch/dp/B076F367WL/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?_encoding=UTF8&dpID=41cqNb-v0jL&dpPl=1&keywords=cat%20scratcher%20corrugated&qid=1541451728&ref=plSrch&ref_=mp_s_a_1_18&sr=8-18
Fibers can be dangerous in his belly...

We have one of these. The cat likes to shred the top scratching surface and the bunny likes shredding the bottom.
Edit: the one we have is something similar to this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001CGN5PS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Y-m2BbMXRKWSK
Take caution:
Bathing a bunny can be dangerous. Risks include:
* You can upset and stress her, causing her to panic and injure herself or go into shock
* Soaps and shampoos can irritate her skin, leading to infection
* Water in the ears can lead to infection
* The fur will take a long time to dry, which could lead to hypothermia
* You can burn her skin with a hair dryer

Picked it up at my local pet store but it’s sold on various places online, here’s a link to one on Amazon:
You've got quite the messy bunny there!
When it comes to cleaning bunnies, this is a really good webpage: http://www.bio.miami.edu/hare/buttbath.html. It talks about messy bottoms but applies to messes anywhere on the body.
Bunnies are usually very good at keeping themselves clean, so when a bunny is this messy that is a serious cause for concern. I wonder what is causing it?
Is your bunny eating lots of hay? What produce do you feed her?
Does your bunny have lots of room to hop around in, with toys, litter, and hay to keep her entertained? Does she get a lot of time outside her cage to exercise and play?
Is your bunny long-haired? Do you brush her often (weekly)? If she's short-haired, do you brush her when she's moulting?
Is your bunny showing any other signs of illness? Here's how you can tell: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_can_you_tell_if_your_pet_rabbit_is_sick_or_injured

To add a helpful suggestion, this x style pens from Amazon are both cheap are safe for rabbits: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IX6S8YI/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Get the 24 inch version, and go over to uhaul or johanns, better yet both, and get some uhaul moving fabric (recycled denim) and some fleece to put on top. Super cozy, and will protect from accidents.
And get a cheap 6 dollar open top litter box, and some pine litter. You'd be amazed how quickly they pee train themselves. :) Rabbits don't generally pee on the floor, but if you are still nervous, get some pond liner. It's thick plastic, and you can cut it to size underneath the fabric
/u/ruthbigsby is commenting on the fact that wire bottom cages cause sore hocks (word for rabbit feet) which is an infected inflamed foot. Super unpleasant for both you and the rabbit.
Cute babes!
/u/mpinnegar has posted a few times on the advanced wheelchair project that he is working on for Silver. Here is the video from ~2 months ago
Amazon has them! I have the same stairs for my cat to climb on the bed.
Sorry for the late response about the walls! I got them on amazon and so far, the buns have not tried to chew them at all. Here’s the link it’s around 20ish square feet of space and very high for anyone wanting to use them for a fully enclosed space.
Yes, rabbits don't have heats like dogs and cats.
> Rabbits are reflex ovulators with no regular oestrous cycle. In the domestic rabbit, ovulation occurs about 8 to 12 hours after copulation.[2] Waves of follicles develop and regress on the ovaries and is reflected by periods of receptivity, usually for 12-14 days, followed by 2-4 days of non-receptivity.[3] This can vary, and some does can become receptive every 4-6 days during the breeding season—Jan to Sept in the northern hemisphere.[3] Does are also fertile immediately after kindling, especially during the summer months.[4] [source]
I've seen the charge show up in invoices sometimes, but it's not really accurate unless your rabbit was actually pregnant?
You can see a list of global spay/neuter bills on the community database here: https://airtable.com/shrH5T7L5bgBS059h
For me, the biggest help was using one of those cat litter boxes that allows for urine to fall below tray. I cut larger gaps in the top tray that allows the poo to fall through, too. The large puppy wee-pads from Costco can be cut in half to absorb the waste. Link below to the system I use.
Just a bunny flop :). Give them some more space and they’ll binky too.
The cages commonly sold as rabbit cages are way too small for most buns. They should have a cage big enough they can easily hop 3 times forward and tall enough they can stand on their back feet. The xpen is commonly used since they’re tall and pretty inexpensive.
They’re also pretty easy to potty train and if they aren’t chewers can be free roamed just like a dog or cat
I peel an apple for my bun almost every night. The peel has a lot of nutrients and fiber. Also, it's not enough to give bun bun an upset stomach and the seeds/stem are removed entirely. Amazon has one on sale for $12...
After washing and peeling the apple, me and my bun sit together and eat - she gets the peel, I get the cored and sliced flesh. The apple peel helps keeps her digestive tract moving while also being a treat.
high fives for deaf bunnies! My Mr Whiskers is also deaf, and he has severe aggression issues, he was a rescue so we're not sure if it's due to his deafness or if he was abused prior to us getting him. We've had him for almost 2 years now and he's still pretty rough, we just show him love when he wants it and leave him be when he doesn't. (which is almost always)
Yes, she's just washing herself it's totally normal. I did notice though that she is an incredibly small cage and definitely needs a bigger enclosure.
https://youtu.be/wuv9MX6cA_c this is a helpful video on rabbit enclosures.
That's a good xpen that you can buy cheap for her. She will be much happier there and show more of her personality when she is happy and has room to move.
Hello! It is important to do all your research and be fully prepared before bringing home an animal.
It is important that your rabbits have full access to hay all day and night. You can buy Timothy Hay either online or at a local farmer store. I buy mine here https://shop.smallpetselect.com/products/2nd-cutting-timothy-hay
My rabbits also like spinach, kale, parsley, cilantro, and turnip greens. They can have a tiny amount of carrot and bananas as treats, but only about the size of your smallest finger because they have a lot of sugar.
And do you have a large enclosure or x-pen for them already? If not, here is a good one. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IX69ULS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_TX293KXE7KH1H5CMD5R7
Best of luck! ❤️🐇
Looks like this from Amazon
If you can get something like an x-pen, you can fence off a little extra space in your room outside the cage. I know getting an x-pen might be hard if your parents won’t buy it and you are still young. They are on sale on amazon right now tho! This is the best way I have found to customize play space. Be sure to bunny proof it still tho (my buns love to chew carpet and have figured out how to move the x pen if it’s not secured)

You could create them yourself! And to your specs, colours and fabric! Home hardware places usually have irregular wood they sell for dirt cheap prices. :)
Edit:
I just really want the photos asap haha.
I love this. We adopted ours from a shelter where she was nicknamed “diamond.” I was googling her to show a coworker once and this huffington post article came up! It was a weird surprise to see she was featured (only bunny, last per mentioned in the article) and so nice to see what she looked like at a few months old!
Thanks everyone! Even though I needed to buy/fix like 7 cables (internet cords, hdmi, phone chargers..and so on) Im going to miss him so much.

People put their bunnies in cages on this sub?
If you don't already know, cages are terrible for rabbits because they cannot fully stand up and get the room they need to move about.
If you need to put your bunny up during the day, I recommend something like this
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MU2F556/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It's the only one that I've found on Amazon that has removable sections, a door, and is tall enough to prevent my buns from hopping over it. I got the 40" because my buns are cever and seem to be able top hop up on things that are 32".
I have a huge outdoor set up that i move inside when its winter...they sleep in their cage(which is the largest one on sale on amazon) during the times im gone or sleeping https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007BNE1YA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
If she tolerates a collar, harness training shouldn’t be too bad! I personally have this one for my buns and it comes with an elastic leash as well. This way you won’t have to worry about injuring her if you need to stop her from running away!
Mine did too.
Hairbuster is the only one i've had success with https://www.amazon.com/Small-Pet-Select-HairBuster-Comb/dp/B06ZZXF81G/ref=sr_1_3?hvadid=241940076427&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9016926&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1t1&hvqmt=e&hvrand=2240507470999736352&hvtargid=kwd-12378904679&keywords=hair+buster&qid=1553790468&s=gateway&sr=8-3

To start you kinda just gotta pet them and sneak some brushing in.
I use the Scratch and Newton freeze pods (for the two days England has sun)!
You guys! I found it! Or at least something very similar. Unfortunately it is made for mini-humans... but maybe we could make it work with leggings or something? Or bring it to our crafty friends to repurpose into adult clothes?

Here ya go
I get all my bunny stuff from small pet select. https://shop.smallpetselect.com
Can sign up and get pts/money back too on your purchases. Most stuff comes in like 2 days. I think the farm is in Kentucky.
For a cage I use a couple of these pens up against the wall. Gives them lots of room.
Most of my hiding spots are amazon boxes or other various sized boxes based on things I’ve purchased.
Litter boxes I just grabbed a couple of plastic litter boxes for cats from Kroger for $5 each. I forget the brand but it’s just a big gray plastic litter box. Can find these pretty much anywhere.
Just remember Amazon is a good resource, but you will way over pay and the quality is often very low.
This food would actually be bad for your rabbit https://www.amazon.com/Kaytee-Timothy-Complete-Rabbit-9-5-lb/dp/B00BAQYO00/ref=pd_aw_lpo_199_bs_img_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=PW7ZX1JBMRC0F2FWJMX8
I encourage you to Google "feed store" or "feed mill" near you. I go through 100# of feed a week, I could never afford to feed at pet store prices. I pay $16 for 50# of a very good feed for my Angora show rabbits.
Found em at Ikea online, maybe they give you free shipping if you buy in quantity? But theirs are only 1" diameter anyway, and I think larger is better because it's harder for the bun to fit its mouf around. Here's an Amazon link to 1.5" ones, in case it fits your budget!
I found this HUGE covered cat box on Amazon - Petphabet Jumbo Hooded Cat Litter Box, Extra Large, Teal https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01EGUWC0U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_H2XSasYDpifRd - I wasn't thrilled with the price ($43) but my bun is a big time digger and this keeps all the mess contained AND she happily digs. Worth every penny! It's big enough to fit 2 adult bunnies with room for hay!
After a lot of searching different keywords i found em, i think! The Amazon page says it can't deliver to me but that's the product :D
look up NIC cubes and NIC Condos (I refuse to give in and call them NIC cages. hah)
I built mine from that and now it's really just three walls because he's goin' free range. But 101rabbits on youtube has a great tutorial to build something super great and solid and for only one bun you wouldn't need something nearly as big as what she built (She has 3-4 I think and a whole room for them to run in).
Make sure if you have multiple levels that the floors are safe wood or something other than wire mesh or grates. Those are not great for their little paws and will give them sore hocks. :)
Your bun will definitely appreciate it. They are not meant to be caged too small, they wanna run around!
EDIT: This was my first one, when we JUST got him and I wanted him to be safe and have his own "space" to own as his. That didn't last long and soon his door was always open and there was a dog pen attached to the edges of the cage to expand his area.
This is his setup now in the livingroom. He's not terribly used to squishy surfaces so he likes the yoga mat (and doesn't chew it, thank god) and I'm getting him used to squish with the fleece blanket.
You may have missed it in all this chaos, but I did link you to a page about how to clean messy rabbits - check out my first comment.
Otherwise:
Hay is terribly important for pet rabbits. A high fibre diet is the best way to avoid the most common rabbit illnesses, and to promote good health generally. Although it's a little counter-intuitive -- because wild rabbits don't eat hay, but fresh grass -- the best way to replicate the natural diet for pet rabbits is with lots and lots of hay. In addition to fresh leaves and vegetables, wild rabbits eat twigs, brambles, and woody weeds and full-grown grasses -- high-fibre foods. It's not practical for us to forage for the right kinds of plants, so instead we offer a diet high in hay, with limited fresh vegetables.
Onion is toxic for many herbivores; therefore, experts say to avoid giving any onion or parts of onion plants or plants in the onion family to your bunny. (Source)
Some veggies are better than others. Focus on leafy greens; non-leafy vegetables are more of a treat than anything else. And always check a list of known poisonous plants before trying something new. Here's a page on Answers.com that has more details and links: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_plants_can_rabbits_eat
As per my Rabbit vet and the rescue organization I got my second rabbit from, I feed my rabbit hay and also unlimited pellets. I was giving pellets 2x a day and unlimited hay, but the woman at the rescue organization said she keeps her rabbits on unlimited pellets (along with unlimited hay, as every thing you will read pretty much agrees on).
I was using care fresh but I found it still smelled bad and was difficult to clean the litter box. I spoke to the vet about this when I took my male in to get desexed and she suggested using this cat litter with hay on top as you mentioned. I was using corner litter boxes prior, but when I got a bigger living space for the buns I changed to a cat litter sized tray like this. I'm 10x happier with Feline Pine than any other bedding/litter stuff marketed for rabbits.
I also saw you keep the rabbit free range. How have you bunny proofed the room(s) he has access to? Has the rabbit been desexed yet? What kind of things are you providing for him to eat and drink? Do you have a water bottle or a water bowl?
this was on imgur's fromt page a while ago It seems to be more of a novelty item but it might work
you could use get a baby carrier like this
That looks like a great set up! Since he's potty trained, it should be ok to give him the whole enclosure all the time. The only thing would be to make sure he can't jump over. The fencing looks low.
My bun doesn't ever escape, he can jump up onto his cage top and over (he did it once when he was impatient and watching me stuff his treats into a hay ball but jumped back into his pen). So I know he can do it, but he doesn't. However, he's very well trained and a super good boy, so he's a free-roamer now, wee!
His offsprings on the other hand, are escape artists and will escape at any given opportunity. So I had to secure the top of their pens, and made it into little apartments instead.
The cost does seem high like /u/sneaky_dragon posted. The Rabbit Haven took in a girl a bit over a year ago and needed her front leg amputated .. "Surgical cost range 600-800".
Here is a post, I remembered a post from a rescue (Rabbitats on fb group 'Disabled Rabbits'), that talks about a Flemish and front leg issues.. "The trick was a looooong course of the right combination of antibiotics, which in this case seems to be the daily PenG injection and oral Zithromax." Might be info for your vet... Good luck!!
edit: text paste of post
How scary! The spicy hay is so enticing to them.
I've had good results with this mesh cord wrap (my rabbits aren't deterred by critter cord) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FXF12HC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. You might also be able to find it at a local hardware store. Good for organizing cords and making a layer between the buns and the spicy hay--if they chew on it, you can see immediately because it frays up, but my bunns only nibbled once and they leave it alone now.
Best of luck to both of you!

I know which cage this is because I recognize it as having the same exact one. It is one of the biggest cages you can get but unfortunately for your breed of bun is going to become too small. I have the same breed of bun and she's also white with dots. And now that's she's 1,5 years old she's huge (and long lol) compared to my other bun. I will certainly upgrade to a pen and you should too. You can get these metal wire cubes and build your own pen, however you like it, put some blankents or a rug on the floor etc. I think for now your cage is okay if your bun gets free roaming time (so released from the cage) at least 5 hours a day to get exercise. But as she grows you will have to upgrade.
My buns have a habit of partying hard while I am at work and spilling or soiling their water, so in addition to their bowl, so I always had a bottle as back up. A while ago I found this and they seem to like it pretty well. They still manage to get poop in it sometimes though.
Amazon! It had a few mixed reviews but mostly about chickens lol. My bun has done great with it and it’s been sturdy enough for us to use.

Oh yea.. been here many times! I use these: cord protectors on nearly all of my wires now. Some are chewed on a bit and need replacement, but the wires underneath are still intact! Saves me from a lot of worry also.
Mine really like to get their pellets in a ball like this: https://smile.amazon.com/PetSafe-SlimCat-Meal-Dispensing-Great-Treats/dp/B0018CG40O/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=cat+treat+ball&qid=1620149637&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEyRFQ1SU1KVzVFTktSJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNjk2OTI4MjE1SjdVS0hHTU9WSyZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNjg3NDEyMUI0WFRFNkdEM0hPUCZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=
It sounds like the pet store was just trying to get you to buy something from them and that is very unfortunate. They need to seperate living areas. However rabbits should not be kept in cages all day, a good setup is having a large cage that has their water, bathroom, etc and surround the cage with an x pen. That way they have more room to be in and out of the cage. However rabbits should have time to run around the house and have fun. This group actually has a lot of information on the proper care and keeping of a pet rabbit. This is the cage I use, the XL version, surrounded by an x pen and I keep the door open!

What a cutie! I have this same cage for my little old lady baby, Chai. For us, the feeder that came with it didn't workout well so I ended up purchasing this and putting it on the inside on the little "stage" part of the cage. I put litter box in the covered area so it's not out in the open and prevents her from throwing litter all over the house (I use a small cat litter box and it fits great!). I covered the plastic floor with hay mats. This is a great cage! We went through 3, some pretty expensive, trying to find the one that works best for us until we found this one! We've had it for 3 years and love it! If you have any bun questions feel free to message me, my little girl will be 8 in June.
Is that a collar or a harness? Rabbits can break their necks easily in collars and can choke, please try a rabbit safe harness like this! https://www.amazon.ca/Living-World-Adjustable-Harness-Rabbits/dp/B003XITX90/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=rabbit+harness&qid=1614367882&refinements=p_72%3A11192170011&rnid=11192166011&sprefix=eabbit+harness&sr=8-4
I also have a senior bun with the same issues. The vet has us give her cosequin for cats and it has worked wonders. After a while she needed a bit more and our vet has put her on meloxodyl in addition. I would definitely try the cosequin supplement as it is safe for rabbits and you can get it off of Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Nutramax-Cosequin-Capsules-80-Count/dp/B000F4W02M/ref=sxts_sxwds-bia-wc-rsf-ajax1_0?cv_ct_cx=cosequin+cats&dchild=1&keywords=cosequin+cats&pd_rd_i=B000F4W02M&pd_rd_r=1b57f9ff-04ec-4511-af74-157dc3ca3c88&p...
Have you tried giving him some wood sticks? They also love seagrass mats, balls to chew on, i’ll send some amazon links as examples!

These kind of cable cover worked my me. I cover the cable all the way. Plus it actually looks more tidy than just have cable showing.

On the pricier side, the fur buster is absolutely fanastic! I cannot stress how well this comb works. The rubber is perfect for grabbing the loose hair. 100% worth the investment
I picked it up from Amazon! You can find it here:
Richell Wood Freestanding Pet Gate, Large, Autumn Matte Finish https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000F0VZV8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_ei5zkl5pbRcvT I ordered two of them to cover the length of my kitchen. It does not have a gate, but I can slide them past each other if I ever need to move through the area! A bit expensive, but I love it!
Sure! I got it from amazon but you can also find like the exact same playpens on eBay for half the price

Cardboard Cat scratchers are fun for my buns. They dig and tear it up. They eat some but not enough to cause a problem. I also bought this play mat that all three of my buns love. I kept telling them no and redirecting when they would chew on a cable and eventually they just left most of them alone. They still have a desire to chew earbuds. We keep a stash in a drawer. lol
We got this tool for around $15 off amazon and decided to give it a try. My poor bunnies are so full of fur from molting. My little guy hates being held/brushed/picked up, so it's difficult to groom him. We've tried every try of brush we could find.
So we got this knock off of a furminator, which it a metal comb with a blade concealed at the base. It can't cut the skin, but it can cut mats or knots if they get stuck in the comb. I've tried it on my own skin to make sure it it felt okay too.
It got so much fur out! This was all the fur we got during the second brushing. The first pile from the day before was twice as big! Though note: this is my girl bunny posing, my boy is super mad at me for brushing him so I'm getting the silent treatment.
Edit: I forgot to add thevkink, duh https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0178VW3PS/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_BeT.wbYZNV6GH
I use these: https://www.amazon.com/MidWest-Foldable-Exercise-Pen-Playpen/dp/B000H8YTJI
I have 30" and 24" pens and have never had a rabbit "escape" from either. My rabbits will jump onto solid surfaces that are 24" or higher, like beds, but they aren't inclined to jump OVER things. If you need to make it smaller for any reason, you can't remove panels, but you can overlap them and fold them out of the way very easily.
My main criteria are price and portability. The 24" is pretty lightweight and only about $35, but Amazon is selling a 42" for $52 right now.
I've only ever tried raw which is the only reason I am able to give my bun his medicine when needed. (by mashing up a small amount and mixing it in with medicine.) I have read/seen others say their buns like the chips but I would look at the ingredients and make sure they don't have salt (preferable) or a lot of salt. Here is my go to list for what fruits/vegetables are rabbit safe from House Rabbit Society: http://rabbit.org/suggested-vegetables-and-fruits-for-a-rabbit-diet/
Fun fact: According to my vet if you give a rabbit too much sugar it can ferment in their stomach which is why they advice against it. House Rabbit Society recommends a very small amount of fruit. (see in link.)
Also: Buns eat wood! To be on the safe side I only give my bun apple sticks. :) He LOVES them. I found them in Walmart, Target, Stop and Shop, Amazon, etc.
I've only been a rabbit owner for a short time (and it's not even my rabbit. It's my gf's). Even though she does the clipping most of the time, I still took 10 whole minutes to learn the right way of how to cut my gf's rabbit's toe nails. It's a responsibility of rabbit owners and if it's not getting done, you're not being a good pet owner. Let me get you some links and some info:
Here's a reliable set of clippers for less than $10 on Amazon
Read the reviews. They seem to be rock solid.
Bonus: They have free shipping on qualifying orders.
Here's a 10 min video demonstrating how to trim rabbit nails from a woman who is VERY knowledgeable with rabbits
Any time I look up something rabbit related, I always look for this lady. Watch ONE video of hers and you'll understand why. She covers everything, she's well spoken, she doesn't use filler words, she has her stuff written out beforehand...I mean she's just a REALLY good youtube person who knows gobs about rabbits. She'll also give great advice and show good techniques for any of the topics she covers.
So I got this for her cage: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XTWZ857/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It arrives in 2 days. I realized her cage is extremely small for her size so I had to get something large enough that was cheap since the spay she's getting on Friday already is costing me a nice chunk. I can get more stuff next month (I have to buy college books later in the month so I'm like mega broke as it is)
As well as some fleece blankets. I was planning on doing bowls for water and kibble, with trays for timothy hay. Is that stuff ok?
I think she is a Netherland Dwarf? Perhaps around a year of age? My sister bought her from a pet store like 1.5 months ago on sale with no documents. If anyone can I.D. that would help me a lot! She weighs 2.8 pounds when I used a human scale.
She doesn't really have a name. I've just been ironically calling her 'Bunny'.
Edit: Should also note that I've been letting her free roam for about 8 hours today (she just came home with me last night) and has been pretty curious about my cats. No problems so far with the kitties; they seem to enjoy the 'new meat' lol (I'm kidding, they seem to like her)
Second Edit: Also, anyone have any sort of product they recommend for cord protection? I was looking at 'CritterCord' on Amazon but it seems like bunnies ate through those anyways. Should taping on the wall work?
They were from amazon. They came in packs of 12 and I bought like 3 or four of them so when he gets bigger I can expand the pen more. It has a 5% discount code too. Tespo Pet Playpen https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XTWZ857/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_EbDKzbH7EBDRB
Yeah, the black plastic covers were more than useless. Just another fascinating texture for my rabbits to conquer. The steel covers are a pain to put over large, grounded plugs, but you can expand their diameter temporarily by squishing them. They act like finger traps. Super easy to put on ethernet and similar cables. I cut mine with regular scissors. Just watch out for the frayed ends. They'll poke you. You can seal them with duct tape on to the end of a cable, but there may be a better solution with some sort of gasket.
Got mine on Amazon. Not the cheapest, but it's worth it. I lost about $40-50 worth of cabling last time my bunny butthole got behind the TV. Got sick of soldering wires back together and buying replacements for those that I couldn't. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007KA8GOA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Great link from /u/catshirtgurl420 as that's exactly what I did. I had a hard time finding the vinyl coated wire in stores with the right spacing though, so I actually got it from Amazon
Living world has an awesome cage on amazon for relatively cheap. Its gray and has a red top, and if you get an xl it should hold both rabbits well. It doesn't have a tray but its very good space and price wise
I second this! It has saved me tons of money and none of my buns have been electrocuted which is the most important part. Here's another amazon link for a longer tube in the US. You can cut it to the exact length of your cord with a regular scissors.
I have covered all the cords that have to stay in places they can get to (roomba charger, AC unit, etc.) and just keep the rest of the cords (phone charger etc.) out of reach when they're running.
Thanks, we don't have a Ross here but I found them on Amazon. Unfortunately $25 is a bit more than I want to spend but they're hilarious
Become interesting. Be a surprise treat giver. Find an activity your buns enjoy, train them to do little tasks for rewards they enjoy. Their idea of fun may not be the same as yours, so be flexible. Often, a bunny's way of hanging out with you won't be cuddling or begging for attention, but gracing you with their presence and flopping in the same room with you.
I got a floor seat from amazon so I could sit comfortably on their level and that helped. Something like this: https://smile.amazon.com/Merax-Luxurious-Five-position-Adjustable-Function/dp/B06XP92NSC/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1532712721&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=floor+seat&psc=1
I wouldn't use a beanbag, they may destroy it and accidentally ingest the beans.
>Buying a big box from amazon is very easy and pretty cost effective https://www.amazon.com/Small-Pet-Select-Cutting-10-Pound/dp/B016OB90R2/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1533645458&sr=8-3&keywords=small%2Bpet%2Bselect%2Btimothy%2Bhay&th=1
I bought this one from amazon. I wouldn't recommend it as a permanent enclosure, maybe just a supervised enclosure if your home isn't bunny-proof.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079P9FDNN/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Not sure what country you're located in, but Amazon has a good deal on wire toppers right now: https://smile.amazon.com/Exercise-Metal-Midwest-Brands-Hardware/dp/B0002H3QX4
But yes, rabbits can spontaneously randomly jump super high. The smaller buns I've watched are notorious. The best jumper I've seen is a little 3 lb Holland lop that soared over a 36" xpen easily.
The most cost effective set I found is this for the amount of panels you get https://www.amazon.com/LANGRIA-Storage-Shelving-Organization-Bookcase/dp/B06XR3PMXK?ref_=w_bl_hsx_s_ho_web_1364357301.
It has measurements per panel - you want one level to be at least 4 by 4 ft and the bottom level should be 1/5 to 2 panels tall for binkies. and ramps are easy - look at the DIY ideas - they show it.
YOu can bend the NIC grids and connect together with zipties and glue on some selfadhesive carpet squares. Or even make out of wood and glue on some carpet. You can also purchase from amazon - just look for small animal ramp. Or even etsy here (just ask for custom size https://www.etsy.com/listing/260284159/ramp-for-bunny-castle-half-circle-design?ref=shop_home_active_13&crt=1).
It’s not exactly the solution your looking for, but perhaps these might work? They are little “feet” meant to replace the wheels on most office chairs. I think they’re designed for carpet, but they may work on hard floors too.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076GVBYXW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fab_fpKGFbAFGM1TY

They do say they're "Made without BPA, lead or phthalates."
Our bun really loves them! We put treats in between and he took to them right away.
Try a deshedding rake - it’s made to get tangles and matted fur unsnarled.
