If I may humbly suggest, you might get more, better responses (and more useful ones) if you throw together a quick survey with yes/no questions or a Likert scale (1-5, disagree to agree). People are more likely to do something user-friendly and quick like that as opposed to typing out an anecdotal, narrative response. Plus, you can actually use answers from a survey to get statistical results to use in your paper instead of just quotes from anecdotes.
Disclaimer, I've never used them, but I've studied espionage through the lens of history and I do know that the CIA uses bags like this to make cell phones not emit or receive signals. Still won't help you if you don't scub your location data from the gram tho.
I had never heard of them either, nor did I realize this wasn't /r/TalesFromTechSupport and we're not talking about Red Hat Enterprise Linux. I need my coffee.
There are Military Locking Pin Backs as one style
Or what disney and such pin collectors use
Shop around for the allen wrench style, it's going to be one of the most commonly stolen items from Disney theme parks and then dumped out there for resale
edit: changed the allen wrench one to a 50 piece set. Might be even larger ones out there
About the insurance cut-off: I am pretty sure that losing your job counts as a significant event to sign up for insurance outside of open enrollment. Go here and check it out. You had a significant life change, so you should be 100% okay to sign up!!! COBRAs are so expensive!
Edit: It's 100% an opportunity to sign up. Checked it out.
Racism involves the belief that one race being is superior to another. Being racially aware and behaving in a racially sensitive manner is not racism.
Gotcha covered. Under seven bucks gets you four cards and a handy black wallet to stick 'em in.
Oh that’s bad. He needs to step up. Why go into business, especially continuing to manage, and be afraid to talk to the clientele?! Honestly he’s doing himself a disservice waiting until the last minute to talk to all of these people.
Gift him “How To Win Friends and Influence People” for Christmas, secretly, if you have to. He definitely needs to learn how to talk to people, even when they are upset. People will respect that.

I wore them FULL TIME for FOUR YEARS. I first got them on clearance at DSW for $40 down from $95.

According to your comment history I believe you are German. So am I. The tipping etiquette is very different between these two countries. ~~I've been writing some yaddayadda but decided to just google the tipping etiquette.~~
Germany: > Tipping in Germany and tipping in some other countries, such as the United States, are totally different. In Germany, waitresses are paid more and so the tips are smaller compared to the USA. Nevertheless, the 5-10% rule of thumb still applies. If you want to tip less (according to some advice on the net) be prepared to appear stingy.
United States: > Restaurants with table service: Tip 15% or more of the bill, based on the quality of service. If you receive exceptional service, 20-25% is customary. In major cities of the U.S. however, 20% is considered to be a "good tip."

We used Toast at my last bar! There was a bit of a learning curve because some of the placement doesn’t complete sense. Like the all of the happy hour specials were under their respective categorical tabs (HH reds were under red wine, HH cheese fries were under sides, etc), as opposed to having a separate tab just for happy hour specials. But there’s also a lot of freedom in how you can set it up, so that might have been the fault of our GM, not the POS. Anyway, once you get a feel for it, it’s awesome fast. Splitting a check 5-6 different ways takes less than a minute.
As for the order books, I’d probably just get them on Amazon or something. These look decent, like 10 books for $14 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LWRQGI0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_fosJCb4RG66HG
I'm sorry, but that's a myth. With the exception of celiac disease, there is no scientific evidence for the harm of gluten compared to other proteins in wheat. https://www.webmd.com/diet/news/20120220/gluten-sensitivity-fact-or-fad
I cant comment on ths rest but I am sorry you are feeling sick, are you gargling with salty water and drinking plenty of fluids?
You can also pour salty sater through your sinuses to clear them. I actually pour mine in one nostril until it goes all the way through my sinuses and comes out the nostril below it. Gravity! But you'd need to be really good at that or have some sort of neti pot (which is designed for the purpose of nasal irrigation) to get you used to it. But in essence you're just slowly pouring warm salty water into your nose to help clear stuff out. It's kinda gross but it can help sooo much to be able to breathe through your nose for a while.

An app called "Tip See" seems to be quite popular in the App Store. I've never used it. Maybe someone who has can offer more insight.
Personally, I use Open Office from Apache at home. They have a great spreadsheet that's every bit as functional as Excel. Take notes at the end of your shifts about your time on the clock, what you earned, etc, and let the spreadsheet do the heavy lifting after you plug in the raw data. And it's completely free.
We had these to open our massive buckets of pickles. They told us to run the squeegees through the mouth of it. I thought it was hilarious they did it for like an hour
Good orthotics can help a lot. The night splint below also provided some structure to keep it from tightening up over night (but it really sucks when you have to get out of bed for any reason.) I didn’t find true relief and healing until I had 2 cortisone injections over the span of about a year. Almost immediate relief after each shot and haven’t had any reoccurrence in about 5 years (knock on wood) can’t speak highly enough about it. The injection is not fun but it’s tolerable and it was beyond worth it for me.

"There were certain things I didn't like [about working in a hotel], such as tipping. I thought we should be paid more, and not have to have any tips. But when I proposed that to the boss, I got nothing but laughter. She told everybody, 'Richard doesn't want his tips, hee, hee, hee; he doesn't want his tips, ha, ha, ha.' The world is full of this kind of dumb smart-alec who doesn't understand anything."
--Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman, p.25
I agree in principle with the guest. Since you work for tips, I give tips, also because I used to, but I don't think that's how it should be. You should just get paid more, and the price of the food go up, so that way you never get "stiffed" and it's stable.
I dunno, this one seems to be beef lovers but it's terribly amusing.
Though not as amusing as creative and disdainful restaurant critics
I apologize. I phrased that poorly.
The United States is the largest single country of users, something like 55% of all Reddit users.
The remaining 45% is shared by something like 170 other countries, so while the United States does not represent the "vast majority" of users as I said before, it is by far the largest single country of Reddit users.
Edit:
I found some numbers here about Reddit visitors.
51.4% of all Reddit visitors are from the US.
India: 8.2% United Kingdom: 4.4% Canada: 3.7% Australia: 2.4%
Those are the top five countries.
So, the United States represents the largest plurality of users by over six times the next largest country of users.
You might want to try the YNAB (You Need A Budget) method of budgeting. In short, ask yourself what the money needs to do before you get paid again, budget for those things as best as you are able, then repeat as more money comes in.
Do not attempt to forecast income with this method. If you can't afford to finish budgeting a thing with what you have, that's ok. Just wait until you have money to put towards it again, or take money out of some other budgeted item if you can.
Give this a read, or watch the video at the top, and maybe that'll help.
https://www.youneedabudget.com/learn/guide/prioritize
You don't need their software to do this, a simple spreadsheet or even a sheet of paper will work.
This is also similar to the Envelope Method popularised by Dave Ramsey.
It makes sense, of course, it just looks funny, haha.
I looked a little more into it, and found a forum from 2014 discussing it, wanna get tripped out over what the correct "pronounciation key" looks like:
>The International Phonetic Alphabet is useful to learn - it's not hard (I learned it on my own, not in school). You'll find that many dictionaries use it, including this website.
>Anyway, / ʒɑ̃ / represents one consonant and one vowel sound. The / ʒ / is the French/Portuguese "j" sound. It's the same sound as the "g" in the word massage, espionage, and so on.
>The / ɑ̃ / represents a French nasal vowel. It's similar to the first syllable of "awning." Take that first syllable ( "awn") and say it without pronouncing the "n" and you have it.
>If that didn't help, visit this website ( http://www.acapela-group.com) and choose a French speaker to pronounce "Jean," and you'll hear it clearly. It's actually quite different from "John".
> Also, grammatically, you should write "there are too many...".
Actually, unless it's formal writing, "there's" for "there are" is perfectly fine.
That being said, I did come into the comments to make sure someone had called out the apostrophe's^(1⁽).

Ok I feel like these look like they would be really cheap, but I love them. They are light weight and have deep pockets (I keep my vape in them and it’s never fallen out). They fit true to size and work very well for my shape (long legs, smallish hips, and a booty for my size). They actually make my ass look great, which is a plus. I tuck in an undershirt and button down and don’t feel like I get a weird bulk from it. FWIW, I wear boys’ button downs so I don’t have a lot of extra fabric to tuck in. Oh also, it has belt loops!
I have one of these and it shoots (allegedly) at 112mph and you don’t have to be super close to the person for it to be effective. As long as you hit their front, you should buy enough time to get somewhere safe. I’m so sorry this happened to you both.

I like nice pens. Not fan of Cross pens they are too skinny for my fat fingers. Skinny pens are tough for those with arthritis.
You can get a custom label on a 5-pack of these from Amazon for $23. Less than $5/pen.
Welcome to our big, crazy, family of degens and misfits!
Don't worry about carrying more than 2 plates at first, better to be safe than the mess and the refire. Practice with empty plates on your down time, then smaller side/dessert plates, then the larger entree plates. In my defense I'm mostly a bartender, but it literally took me years to get three so you got time ;)
Best piece of advice in general I can give you is in addition to learning your job try to learn a bit about everyone else's (FoH and BoH) and what you can do to make their lives easier. It can make everything run smoother and usually means your colleagues will go to bat for you and cover your ass when you fuck up (and everyone, newbies and veterans alike, DO fuck up).
Speaking of my BoH bros-- always remember they work their asses off for a third of the pay of FoH (if you're in the U.S.), so stay humble with them and don't complain about tips in front of them. They can also be bribed with Red Bull. I love to lurk in r/kitchenconfidential for the insights and the memes (and they recommended https://www.amazon.com/Kitchen-Spanish-Quick-Phrase-Culinary/dp/0965190102 for learning some quick kitchen Spanish, though I haven't tried it myself).
Lastly, you DO NOT have to put up with sexual harassment. We're often a salty, crazy bunch of inappropriate functional alcoholics but you should never be made to feel uncomfortable and management should shut down shit that goes too far.
Anyway, more advice than you probably needed or wanted but best of luck!
I like this and am willing to pay more for an unbranded version, so I found that patent for a spring-loaded wine key is proprietary to a French company.

Also, I really miss my simple flip phone, even though I could never keep up with my job today on just that.
Also, how to drink’s channel on YouTube is a great resource for classic cocktails. Two drinks outside will get you a good mid tier bottle of liquor that you can use.
For whiskey drinks: wild turkey 101 and bulleit will work 90% of the time.
For mojitos, Bacardi white is fine.
LPT: get a squirt bottle, make simple syrup, fill it and keep it in your fridge door.
Also, join r/cocktails and ask for a basic list based on [Liquor] and they’ll have a good list for you.

I've got a far way to go, but I love her approach. Theres other varieties as well, like Calm the Fuck down, too.
Actually, this makes your incident more clear. Some places serve Vietnamese iced coffee like a pour over of hot coffee in a special dripper, with a glass of ice and condensed milk. Like this.
Ooh, I've been working on this one for years! The big problem comes from irregular shift patterns that mean its impossible to set a consistent bedtime/wakeup. Then we tend to feel guilty because we can't manage to be consistent and we read articles where people say "wake up at 5am to feel amazing".
I've experimented with polyphasic sleep, biphasic sleep and all sorts of supplements but here's a couple of ideas for you:
Accept that bedtime will change, but have a routine anyway. Work backwards from your shift the next day and figure out when you need to go to sleep to ensure you get a full 8 hours (this can be less if you get really biohacker-y about it.... but that will come later :])
Install a program like flux to reduce blue light from your laptop in the hours before you plan to go to sleep. (This amazed me how I would still spend a couple of hours browsing the web but would feel so tired by the time an hour of red-tint was up and fall asleep much much quicker)
Consider investing in a SAD lamp or bright white light lamp that you set on a timer. Set the light to come on about an hour before you set the alarm and the extra light will tell your body it's time to start waking up.
I also sometimes use Tryptophan (precursor to Serotonin) to help me fall asleep after a long and stressful day, and occasionally take a tablespoon of MCT oil (derived from coconut oil) to make sure I don't wake up too low on energy to follow my routines.
You can get pretty detailed when you start hacking this stuff, but I'm currently working on a waiter-specific set of recommendations that I'll publish on my blog when its done.
And yes... the book is in your inbox :-)
If you look here, it says that you can enroll for losing your work's health coverage for any reason. Not sure why they are making you wait.
Quote from the site:
>Life events that may qualify you for a Special Enrollment Period
>Losing other health coverage
>Examples of losing coverage
>Losing job-based coverage for any reason, including resigning, getting laid off, or getting fired
In any case, good luck!
ya, so that's comparing the probability that a certain outcome will occur compared to others. Using that, there's a 0.09% chance she'll get 1 out of 10 correct. That doesn't seem right, because chances are she'll get at least 1 correct. That math is saying there's a 0.09% chance of only 1 of the 10 things being A if A and B are equally likely to occur.
EDIT: I just went on THIS coin flipping site and wrote down either tails or heads randomly 10 times. I then e-flipped 10 coins on that site. My randomly ordered prediction matched 4/10 of the flipped result. I did it a second time, and I got 8/10 correct, which apparently only happens 4% of the time.... I guess I could have just gotten lucky and hit that 4% probability, but I just don't think this formula applies to this scenario.
I recently read a story about a little boy who is technically allergic to just about anything. He can't be tested for the allergens and the only way they find out if he's allergic is if he tries it. Not saying this lady has it, but it could be a possibility.
In that case, there's always Net Guard. You have to use the non-Play version to block ads but it doesn't require root. (I am not typically a fan of installing apps from non-Play Store sources but this is an exception nowadays due to how egregious ads on mobile have become.) The only issue with it that I've had is you have to install updates fairly often but that's a good thing, IMO.
Edit: You pay for it via Google Play, BTW. Well worth the $8 or 10 I paid for it.
> I was at the store yesterday and overheard a woman telling another woman that her young son was upset that she was requiring him to wear a mask over his pirate costume for Halloween.
I mean, you can complain about it, or you can make it work.
Yeah those work, but basically any time you pull it out to make a phone call you'll be triangulated depending on how close you are to at least three cell towers to an area within 2 km^(2), and that's without connecting to anything. GPS can do things, but that signal doesn't come from your phone, it comes from satellites, and you just embed it into metadata whenever you take a picture (unless that's off), or if an app makes a location request (which is restricted by the OS, but people allow location access to a lot of apps by default for some reason). If you really want to avoid detection, use a burner phone bought with cash, only load very specific apps for communication (like Signal or Jami) and don't give it location data, and use a paid VPN (bought via a more anonymous cryptocurrency than bitcoin), through a country with very in-depth privacy laws (like Canada or Germany).
Somewhat late to the party here, but LibreOffice Draw is a good option for editing PDFs (unless they solely consist of raster images).

Wanted to add on to everyone’s suggestions: get a foot massager. These things can go for half price if you keep an eye out (especially with black friday/cyber monday in a couple months). Also, if you can find a slant board, stretching your feet out on those make a huge difference in foot pain. Use them as often as you are able to. I’m aware this one is expensive (but necessary because cheaper ones crack/break easily and can be dangerous) so keep an eye out for deals also.
Thirded! I haven’t worn a bra in 10 years, and in that time I’ve been a server, an events manager for a super high-end restaurant, and the alumni outreach and events coordinator for a wealthy and conservative university. Aenart pens on Amazon are like $9 for a pack of 20, they don't bleed, they don't leave marks on the side of your hand (I'm left handed so this is a huge plus), they write so smooth, they're just great pens as far as I'm concerned.

You need to have a management/worker discussion about efficiency - which includes acknowledging the physical needs of the worker. This is basic communication. Its a lot less hopeless looking if you actually know that setting limits is possible - and has been done thousands of times. You don't know that, despite a full education, because it was removed from your curriculum. https://www.amazon.com/Union-Members-Complete-Guide-Everything/dp/0965948617
Aside from the mask itself, I find these really helpful under the mask.
https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B08CY5YMB6/
The only thing that really suck about these is if you are prone to acne... you'll sweat where the ring touches and, well...pimple city.
But it does make the mask itself much easier to deal with for the issues you mentioned.
My restaurant lets us wear whatever masks we want, so I have some washable fabric ones with replaceable filters that have designs I liked. If they have to be black, my wife ordered some on amazon recently that are nice and comfortable and come in a pack of 25. You can find those here.
I am (mostly) willingly returning to waiting tables at a local Mexican joint after 5 long years (recently 1 long miserable year) in corporate retail. I ordered several of Amazon's tech shirts in black because they had awesome reviews and are moisture wicking. They were about $9 a piece so if I tear them up, I won't feel so bad. Forewarning, they smell absolutely awful straight out of the package. Wash them first.
I also have thrifted all my black denim. I fear I may not look "put together" enough even with hair and makeup done up so I'll be following this thread accordingly. I was thinking about getting some button downs but I don't know how the traditional fabric would fare in that type of restaurant.
Use a dry toothbrush first, then you can use a wet one. There are also some cheap little tools that are brushes on one end a silicone pointy thing on the end.
If it helps you at all, I have a monthly budget that I re-examine every six months, broken down into a week-by-week earnings quota and bank deposit schedule.
Whatever I have left above my quota from the previous week is my "spending money," and what's left after that rolls over into the next week, essentially protecting me proactively from having a really slow week totally derail my budget (which almost happened around the Fourth of July weekend).
I also read Dave Ramsey's "Total Money Makeover" book a few years ago, and while I'm not in abnormally large amount of debt, there are some useful tools and skills that he's developed.
Edit: I also don't use my cash tips from a shift to make purchases, especially not on the way home from work (unless I just really need Taco Bell). I use my debit card or a credit card, so that the money I spend has already been budgeted for.
I'd certainly ask for the money you are entitled to. If you wish to remain employed there, contacting the labor boards would either be off the table or the absolute last option.
If you have the time, read a short book called Getting to Yes before going into this meeting. It'll change the way you view and deal with potential conflict situations and negotiations for the rest of your life.
I use Waiter Wallet also. It works like an actual wallet. It has multiple plastic sleeves for specials or drink lists. There is a flap in the wallet section that creates two sections and has sleeves for credit cards/gift cards/business cards/etc. It's $20 but I love it. It's my second one. The only problem I have with the second one is that it is larger than my first one, but more durable than the smaller one. It is a little big for my current uniform because we have a weird uniform, but for a regular apron, it's just fine.

Conveniently enough, it is just called pedometer.
Here is a link to pedometer in the play store( I'm not sure if it is on Apple though): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tayu.tau.pedometer
It is called pedometer. I love it. I just started using it more frequently. It is free and it is really battery efficient.
