Haha, this is just so awesome. Stephen King is one of my favourite storytellers and his book 'On Writing' is one of the most perceptive non-academic works on 'why we write' I've ever had the pleasure to read. He knows a good story when he sees one ;)
I might add that he ALSO knows, as a storyteller himself, that you cannot properly judge a story or the true purposes of its narrative technique until you know the outcome and where it's all going!
(This is like two world collide for me. I'm all <333 right now.)
Radioactive has never been placed so appropriately imo. The shows composer is Evan Frankfort. He has a band named the "Spiritual Machines" who did the song we have all been obsessed with called 'Couldn't Stop Caring.'
I believe it is original. Here is the opening theme song. Evan Frankfort is the show's official composer. In the comments Evan Frankfort Doc Dauer and Liz Phair are credited with creating the theme music.
Evan has a band many of us became obsessed with last week called "The Spiritual Machines". Here is the song they did for Bodyguard of Lies episode, it's called "Couldn't Stop Caring" in case you want to hear more from him. He's crazy good.
I realized it a few weeks ago as well (https://vgy.me/lXnvru.png), but went back to Season 3 to check if the logo was heavily splitted, and it did, so I just assumed it was nothing new.
The pace of the collision also changes. Example here: https://vgy.me/Kj7UFD.png
It might be based on intensity of the episode, but I didn't check that theory yet.
I'm still not quite sure what to think of TCOL. On the whole, I don't like ALIE or anything related to it. And even if I accept the chips as possible, Praimfaya in every possible world was just an artificial, forced plot device without any realistic base.
You're right about TCOL's role in the show. I agree with you. But when I look at the execution, I have some strong doubts. Nobody in the world of The 100 would have been able to spot a city like downtown Vancouver as a positive dream. The Skycru people might have known such a place from some old vids, but for Grounders it would simply have been a strange, cold world - no place for either group to find attractive. The city in S3 had nothing human and was in no way recognizable as the place Jaha had raved about in S2. I think if you wanted to introduce such a virtual refuge into The 100s' world, a rural idyll or something in that line would have been far more convincing.
Above all, however, the break in the narrative thread in S3 disturbs me. After Jason got rid of Lexa much too hastily, it seems as if he hastily grabbed some possible new arc without thinking too much about it. ALIE always seemed to me like a very weak substitute for Lexa: a supposedly strong female figure in a partly dubious, antagonistic role, but at the same time recognizably as far away as possible from the original Lexa.
No, I think TCOL shows the basic problem of the show: Jason is bubbling over with crazy, good ideas, but someone is missing to translate them all into an organic, logical and well paced plot.

Yeah, shouldn't be surprising. Anyway it's also available on Netflix Canada. For those outside you can use a VPN, though many won't work properly atm. I used Zenmate and it worked very well - HD, subtitles and all
Well while I wait for some things to print I'll take a whack at a few of these.
Bellamy - The Illiad. Obviously. Lexa - The Art of War Murphy - Catch-22 Lincoln - Ghandi: An Autobiography Brian - Goosebumps Roan - Treasure Island Jaha - Book of Exodus Becca - A.I. Clarke - the Catcher in the Rye Titus - The Da Vinci Code Sinclair - Wheeler's Latin
Uhhh I need to go to sleep I'm just bsing these anyway lol. I wanted to work Kama Sutra in there somewhere but couldn't figure out who to go with lol. And Everybody Poops. Someone surely reads that.
EDIT: apparently I don't know how to format this in bullet form and i'm too tired to mess with it. oh well, lol.
Nice.
Looks like Octavia won't be woken up until later. And I'm afraid that the reasons may have to do with the fact that Bellamy is still convinced that he was always completely right and that his little sister was or is a little psycho.
What also strikes me is, that Marie is no longer in the bts group photos. I can only hope that the CW has not decided to put her - or rather leave her - on ice until the allegations have been cleared up.

No definitely all of that. I think there's about 3 or 4 different chess sets placed in S3 too, actually there's been chess sets in all the seasons I believe.
Early in the S3 speculation game we were talking about possible motives for Alie having something to do with the Red Queen Hypothesis, which is about survival and evolution.
There's a very strong underlying theme of AIW and TTLG, I think. With the two queens, and the idea that Clarke crosses the board and goes from a pawn to a queen when she reaches the other side. Yeah it's definitely all there.
Also I know we briefly spoke about this before, but the 97yrs and the gradual explanations for everything linking back to various technologies and the constant visual of the chess board/pieces throughout the seasons just bugs me to no end. I want to believe its leading towards something big and isn't just a coincidence.
I wish I had time to watch all the seasons over and list all the times chess references are made or seen. They always seem to be linked to Jaha somehow too, besides the chess set in the bunker when Murphy is locked up there.
So the easiest way that I do it is to use my phone as I don’t have a PC anymore. I have an app called CyberGhost it’s all touches of a button and choosing US as my server, the open the CW app and boom! US free streaming. I believe I had to create a fake American apple account - I can’t remember now. Takes about 15 minutes to get everything sorted - depends how bad you want to watch it. For me I really wanted to watch the Flash& The 100 hah!
Zenmate for me is incredibly slow and doesnt let me watch streams, hola unfortunately shares your internet connection with other users. I mean Ill purchase the blurays as soon as they come out (as I usually do whenever I torrent) but yeah its just difficult to support something that doesn't have a legal option for your country even if it is great.
Sorry I meant June 12, I live in Asia so there's a +1 day disparity.
So far the only dates I see with no episodes listed are for today and June 12th.

Where can I watch online?
If you're Canadian. Netflix. If you're American, the CW site usually streams it, as well as Hulu. If you can't access these methods, or you're not in either of these two countries, then use Google. Subreddit rules prevent me from linking to external sources. But if I found a way to watch day of release online, so can you.
Alternatively

> you have yourself, a single white male, and a pregnant woman. You have to make a decision who to save, and your decision will directly lead to the death of the other person. Who do you save?
This is actually sort of the basis of a movie called "Circle". It's on Netflix and worth a watch to see how people from wildly different backgrounds and personalities try to solve that sort of problem when the stakes are highest.
It's questions like this, where there is no clear solution, that I really love The 100. No easy way out. People die. There are consequences. How they handle those consequences and assign responsibility keeps this show a fascinating watch.
I think I've put forward a whole series of factual, well-founded arguments. If you can't come up with anything better than a personal attack in response, that alone is proof that there's not much to your position.
I can accept that someone has a different opinion than I do. In this sense I have had the discussion with the OP. With such personal attacks you only show that only your own point of view is valid for you and every other opinion is worth a damn.

Season 5 is digitally available to watch on Amazon --> https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BYZNRVT but the bluray/Dvd containing the Bonus features like the blooper reel you have to wait unitil Oct. 9th
Cool little bypass Download ExpressVPN on phone or desktop- Try their 7 day free trial - Connect to the Canada Servers - Open up Netflix and you should be now on Canada Netflix and able to access The 100 Season 6 since they have the episodes uploaded weekly :)
I know this doesn't answer your question but if you can get your hands on a VPN (I use ExpressVPN) the CWTV website lets you watch the show (and all their shows) totally for free the next day, no account required like a vast majority of US networks ask for. Unfortunately the episodes do expire so at present they only have Episode 5 onwards. But something to certainly know about for the future :)
As in on netflix? This depends on what country you live in. The easiest solution to this is buying a VPN (I recommend ExpressVPN) and going to the canadian servers. On Netflix Canada they got season 1-5. Otherwise you can stream it online
Came here to say this. It's strange but us Canadians got each episode like a day after they aired on Netflix. All you need to do is download a free VPN and you can watch Canadian Netflix. I use CyberGhost it's free and seems to work well.
Yeah... and the polls are really suggesting that there are problems with the current format. Like now we're pretty much stuck on a plot point. 12 comments this week, and the top votes on the second poll look like this right now... starting to look like it needs a change to me.
Hey Everyone!
We are doing our annual poll for Quote of the Year. Please use the poll linked in the post title. It is the only way for your vote to be counted. I will check back on Wednesday around noon central time for the results.
We have a clear winner with 374 votes.

See ya'll next season!
There's an online dictionary. There's even a separate language called Slaksleng which are words that fans add to fill out the language a bit more. They're called Slakkru, and you can see their words in the Slakkru dictionary.
David Peterson (the guy who created the language) approves of these words and he has even used some of their words for new episodes in the show. In 7x06, when a guy is talking to Indra about the stolen guns, David said that Slakkru helped him to come up with the word for "locker". And there's more words in previous seasons too.
David said that out of all his languages that he's created (Game of Thrones Defiance, etc), Trig has the biggest community of people learning and speaking the language.
There's also a Memrise course for Trig.
Here's a dictionary. There's a canon dictionary - official words from the show. And then there's non-canon. Slakgedasleng is words added by the fans and even the creator of the language has approved of them.
You can also learn Trig on Memrise. David Peterson said out of all his languages (including Game of Thrones), Trig is the easiest and has the biggest fanbase learning it.
Jasper didn't "decide to die" and certainly not because of Maya. He had been started to recover from her death already in the second half of Season 3. He simply accepted Praimfaya as an inevitable fate. That's maybe fatalistic, but nothing else.
And as for the situation in the bunker: When I look at our real world today and how some people react to the lock down, Octavia deserves the greatest respect for holding people together in this far worse situation. Without the outlet she gave to the people, the pit, they would have all gone insane in that bunker. The situation was bizarre, but Octavia did most of it right, while her adult advisors all failed.

Read the books. Won't spoil anything, but I'll just say Wells is great. I listened to everything on audiobook, go grab a free month of Audible, and give the first book a listen!
Oh, snap, I didn't have my old files to check then realized it's on Netflix.

Thanks, going to cry now...
The CW is available on YouTube TV. It's not available in all markets though, so that might be what the OC was talking about. If you have The CW, you will be able to watch it live when the episodes air. Check what Channels are available in your ZIP code here: https://tv.youtube.com/welcome/go/
If you no longer get The CW on YouTube TV and you want to watch live, you can look into getting an antenna and plugging it up. The station is free, so you will only have to pay to get an antenna and you will not have to pay to view the channel. They sell them at Target and Walmart for not that much. Yes, it's 100% legal.
If you can't watch live, it will be available on The CW app (available for Android, iOS, Roku, etc.) and website the next day for free.
But The 100 will not be on YouTube TV now, because there are no new episodes. All previous episodes are on Netflix.

Yeah, I've thought about that and intentionally left it out to not make things too complicated. I don't think it's a problem for Eligius IV, they were travelling for 75 out of 125 years IIRC - even if Sanctum is 40 light years away from Earth (so ~50% of the speed of light), this would only result in a few years of time dilation, which isn't too problematic for the timeline. Maybe Sanctum is closer or farther away, I don't think there's any info.
Eligius III however... Apparently it took them (less than) 2 years, so... Yeah.
EDIT: So let's say the black hole and Sanctum are only 2 light years away from Earth - this would be the fiction part of science fiction. :P I'm not sure if that'd be possible IRL, probably depends on the mass of the black hole. Maybe Eligius III went at 99% of the speed of light - that would be 10 months for them or 2 years for the Earth. But maybe it was 99.9%, or maybe only 90%. I don't think it matters if we assume Sanctum is only 2 light years away, because either way it can only be a ~2 year difference (on top of two centuries).
And if Sanctum is more than 2 light years away, it really doesn't matter because they figured out faster-than-light travel. Or maybe Eligius III just flew through a wormhole.
LOL I’m surprised how many people think science fiction and fiction are the same they are actually not. In that case you could call anything that was fictional science fiction....
Fiction: literature that describes imaginary events and people. Science-Fiction: A GENRE of fiction that deals with imaginary and futuristic concepts such as advanced science and technology space exploration, time travel etc.

From the very beginning in S1, Bellamy could not see how quickly and intensely his sister deviated from the thinking and feeling of the remaining 100 (98) and the Arkers in general. She was the first to really arrive on the ground and embrace the new world, because her old world, the Ark had never given her anything, had rejected her very existence.
When Bellamy joined Pike, that feeling became even stronger. Bellamy formed his world according to the simple formulas of the populist Pike. His sister however had long since found her own way, even if it was a completely new way.
When Bellamy lived in the ring with Spacekru, he not only missed Octavia's actual development. He also made himself a dream image of her out of (positively) distorted memories. The reality he found in the bunker wasn't just frightening for him. It was a shock. He closed his eyes. He didn't even want to know what other horrors were hidden behind the shock. He found a simple picture for himself: His sister had gone mad and played childhood games to cope with the horror of the life in the bunker.
Octavia, for her part, had never learned to communicate - and that includes sympathetic listening as well as the ability to structure her thoughts and to express them by understandable words. In S5, she tried several times to reach her brother. But she just couldn't find some adequate words, and was too caught up in the situation as to speak as lovingly as she felt.
Too violent feelings, self-set taboos, the inability to communicate and step back from the immediate problems - all this together was a toxic mixture for Blake's siblings.

A few days ago I had a discussion with someone who thought Octavia being just power hungry, a maniac and overall despisable. S/he reproached me for being too emotionally attached to Octavia to be able to have a reasonable discussion about her. That made me think, because I am indeed emotionally touched by this artificial character. But then I found out two things:
So, yes I'm attached to Octavia.

>if they do it well
Oh how much I hope for this! Though the first Kane vs. Octavia didn't give me much hope. Kane seems to be a candidate for the next You-Know-Nothing. Will he ever realize that it was him who left Octavia alone in the bunker and she still saved his life, when Damocles came down on them?
To make him just faint and be put back in the fridge was a very weak solution, and so I'm very glad that Raven doesn't step down, at least not until she learns about Shaw's death.
Of course, Raven isn't a pure angel either. But as it looks like, the writers have decided, that Raven and Echo will be the main driving forces to give the fans at least a little bit of clearing the undergrowth of problems and entanglements that has accumulated in S5.
As far as Octavia is concerned, I'm afraid that she soon will be simply too much in demand for to deal with the past. We have all seen the trailers and know that there's some work ahead for Octavia.
By the way, did you notice that Spacekru still hasn't found out what was really going on in the bunker? Abby, for example, could have trusted Bellamy ... and should. To clear all the difficulties between Octavia and Bellamy without putting the truth on the table would be completely implausible in a realistic scenario.

Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator
I'd wait for a few episodes before making such a judgment. First of all, let's not forget that the events of S5 were practically yesterday for all characters except Jordan. So, Raven may still be a little agitated.
Personally, I also like that she finally brings in her own perspective. She has been too quiet for me so far. I consider her behavior in 6x01 more natural than the silent suffering she showed often before. And she also has to suffer in S6, as we all probably suspect now ...

It's just a wild theory, but maybe Wells was just a leader too much.
We know that at the beginning of The 100 it wasn't yet clear how this world should look like. There were also glowing butterflies and mutated deer. I think when Jason realized that he would bring Jaha, Kane and Abby to Earth, where Clarke, Bellamy, Wells and Finn were competing for leadership, he thought he could do without one of those roles. And then he chose the least dramatic.

Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator
It's very difficult for me to imagine a continuation after her impressive performance in S5. In any case, she shouldn't stay the penitent sinner for too long, because that just doesn't suit her.
Of course she has to come to terms with all the characters she had problems with in S5 - and vice versa! She made mistakes, but others also have reason to apologize to her. It should simply have some good conversations with Bellamy, Indra, Gaia and Abby. I'm also particularly curious about how her relationship with Madi and Diyoza will develop; I think this is where some interesting friendships could evolve. With Kane, on the other hand, I don't think there will be any understanding quite soon.
Octavia is a go-getter. It would be unlikely to have her sitting around in Eligius IV longer than necessary and mope. Rather, she will take on an exciting, perhaps dangerous task on the new ground - maybe even as a team with Diyoza.
In any case, I hope to learn more about Octavia's inner life. In S5 she often was in the picture, but the perspective was mostly from outside. Her feelings could only be seen through her facial expression. She spoke little about and for herself. I would very much appreciate it if that's going to change.

Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator
Personally, I never thought Diyoza was peace-loving. She loved to seek solutions by force and tolerated McCreary as her partner; she even chose him with Kane when it would have been easy to find a solution with Wonkru because McCreary had openly opposed her at that time.
But I want to answer your question: I think many fans have been deceived by her pregnancy and her friendly treatment of Kane.
But there's a second motive underneath: We know that S5 was supposed to be a mirror of S1. So Diyoza was Clarke, and some of those fans who could understand the difficulties of The 100 when they landed, also may have a heart for Diyoza's attempts to find her way on the ground.

> We already have one casualty
Do we? Please don't spoil me. Until now I've managed to stay away from all S6 previews etc. (except for the official trailer), and I hope I can manage to keep it that way until the show really starts. So I can't discuss casualties (in the trailer, Kane seems to be quite well).
But of course you're right, and the Eligius IV could have ended up in a dead star system with all its Hytholodium exhausted. And there are endless other possibilities. Do you happen to know John Brunner's "Maze of Stars"?
There's a (very short) synopsis: http://www.librarything.com/work/509399/descriptions
The book basically describes how humans on hundreds of different worlds get by - some quite successful, albeit often in a very strange way, some with dramatic failures.
> But when we start to analyze these are two frightened people that were struggling to integrate so they just stopped trying. I feel bad for Jordan because he’s now left in charge of helping everyone else and filling that gap that Monty and Harper left.
I'm glad you like to follow my initial thought, and most of all, you follow it in the direction I intended. Of course, playing Passengers is the epitome of complacency for a loving couple. But there's one big difference to the movie: Waking someone up and putting her or him back to sleep didn't pose any problem. So Monty and Harper had no absolute need to decide about the fate of everyone else just by themselves. Don't get me wrong - I still like the basic idea of the story. But I'd really loved to see this voyage spanning two full episodes - including some "visitors" from the cryochamber, like having Shaw set the course to that star system or discussing important decisions with all of Spacekru and maybe Diyoza (as the one who had been out there already).
I've checked it myself with an UK adress:
The whole season as download 24.99 $
I'm on vacation in Tbilisi and can't get my VPN to work properly and use the Canadian Netflix (tried both NordVPN and ExpressVPN, they don't work on Netflix) so I gotta wait until I'm back home on the 13th
I’m from the UK. It’s a bit over the top but I use ExpressVPN to access Canadian Netflix. And I just watch it the day after release (HDMI to my TV). I’d usually just change my DNS on the TV, but for some reason there’s no Canadian IP for TV. So I have to do it on my laptop, then transfer to my Smart TV. I assume there’s a cheaper or free VPN to use.
If you want a free VPN you can use ProtonVPN on iOS. It is free to use for three countries(you have a trial at the beginning with a lot of other countries) and one of them is USA. Free option isn’t as good for security because it doesn’t have a lot of paid features but it can easily change your location.
Using free VPN services is almost never a good idea, try ExpressVPN if you're only interested in tricking Netflix and not the privacy aspect.
Yes, not sure if its still on Netflix in Canada since they add and remove stuff all the time, and this post is from almost 4 months ago, but the steps are:
For a VPN, I recommend Unblock-Us. It works absolutely flawless, especially for Netflix, and it's extremely easy to setup. Plus you get one week for free so if you can bingewatch Season 2 in one week it won't even cost you money.

Track down The Middleman - created by Javier Grillo-Marxuach, based on a comic book he wrote. It's almost the complete opposite of The 100 in tone, but does the same the the early parts of the show did, with taking bits and pieces from the history of Sci-Fi, putting them in a blender and daring the audience to spot all the references. It just does it in the service of comedy instead of drama.
I saw the knife in another thread about a month ago (someone was talking about a Lexa cosplay I think?) and showed you can get it on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Supplies-DM-1076-Damascus-Sgian-Knife/dp/B00K23X7PA, so it could just be a whoopsie coincidence with the prop department for an old looking knife.
