People haven't ignored it, it's been posted about here a couple of times. On the Total Drama Amino people are naming the plant kid Mistake and writing fanfictions about him. Here's one if you want to read, it's pretty short

Feeling to draw using the mixed media method where I made a sketch traditionally then finished it in digital yea. To make it fun ~~and not feel like I'm doing art homework~~ I choose one darkly-inclined character as a subject (sometimes I'm referring them as darkling cuz it sounds adorable ehe hee) so I choose Gwen. ^^

2. I don't ship it, but the fanarts are cute and you do you! also I know a Noco shipper artist girl on Instagram, genuinely one of nicest people I know
