I've made a Google Docs spreadsheet with all the info that was on this page about 5 minutes ago. It can be found here. Anyone can edit, but I'd ask that you keep the formatting the same and only change your own details.
Did it for myself, but figured I'd share. Linked below is a gDoc spreadsheet with all the commands from the wiki page dodgepong linked. I tried to organize it for single page printing and I color coded by second letter.
Tribes Ascend - Voice Commands
Edit: Added Alternating tones of the same color for the VG and VS commands that are four characters as they have a third tier of organization in the third letter.
I've finally gotten around to figuring out menus and UI stuff as well as making some legit physics improvements.

Next up: Multiplayer!
Probably best to hit up the PUG scene and talk to guys in there. If you play well in the pick ups then you will probably get asked to join a team. There are also some social clans around like The Art of Warfare who seem to such up members like nobodies business, at least here in Oceania.
The Blood Eagle Soldier is about 4 inches tall and 3 inches wide from hand to hand. Not sure where the little braces on his legs came from(printer or model), but if it weren't for them the legs might have broken off during printing. Also surprised that the melee weapon is intact.
Model files were obtained from here: http://www.4shared.com/zip/bAd1QTYi/tribes_pepakura_modelpack.html
Taking a 30s look at https://www.unrealengine.com/blog/transitioning-from-ue3-to-ue4 , it is very clear that there's no compatibility between the 2 engines. That would require them to rewrite the entire game, which can't be done with 4 peeps.
Oh, no problem. Here is the google spreadsheet with info from this thread. It updates every few patches.
I'm not really sure what kind of manpower you guys have, but the UI for selecting, changing, and modifying classes is a bit too clunky for my liking. Previously I thought it was a bit clunky, but now its even more exaggerated. Being able to do all of this from one screen would be lovely, something similar to how Legions does things at the moment, though obviously with some changes.
I can't really speak for weapon balance since I've only just recently come back to the game and played a few pubs. Snipers seemed like a major issue though and were really my biggest annoyance when playing.
Deactivation of mouse smoothing is standard in every tweak guide and config script for almost every competitive fps for a reason. There's a little more about it here:
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/95644-13-mouse-smoothing-games
That being said, if you're more comfortable with it on, then leave it on. You're the one playing so you should play how you want.
Vegas is nice for editing but it can't render to save it's miserable life. What I do is render out of Vegas as an ~~uncompressed~~ lossless avi (using a 3rd party codec because Vagas can't even do that right) and encode it into a MP4 with the free MeGUI.
Be warned however; MeGUI has to be one of the most user unfriendly apps I've ever seen and I used to use DOS based machines. You WILL want to read how to use it first. MeGUI is super powerful though. You can tell it the size you want the file to be and it will compress the footage into that size. Getting half an hour into 700Mb looks just fine so it should meet your goals.
EDIT: Mixed up uncompressed with lossless.
They have explained themselves (read the OP?). They made a post on their forums a day or so ago, when all this hit the fan.
edit: Hey, I never said it was a good response. Just that they have responded to it. And I wouldn't be too surprised to know if their ban system really is that bad (cough).

As I mentioned in another comment, teaming up with someone - being a friend you know or a fellow Beagle (because you are playing Blood Eagle, right?) from this subreddit can enhance the game a lot.
The game also has in-game voice commands that you can try to learn and utilize (start by pressing V, and go from there. I reckon most people don't listen to them in pubs, but depending on what you're conveying, it can have a big impact even if only one or two people are going to do something/not do something based on what you said. Here's a cheat sheet of the voice commands.
The engine is here.

The editor is all in text-script. There's nothing stopping you from adding things to it as long as the engine can handle it.
I have not seen anyone decompile the executable, but I'm sure you could with ghidra and a lot of patience.
I have voted for https://trello.com/c/IF4DykGk/13-heavy-armor-changes
But my opinion is, that if the heavies no longer have 4 weapons but 3 - which is a good thing - the frisbees (belt disc) should not be a problem anymore.
I'd srsly regret if they'd be removed. They're so cool, without it, heavies will feel like flower watering aunts right before rain.
Also, why not re-institute the mobility parameters the heavies had pre-OOTB? Same carving, same thrust, same speed. It was perfect.
Here we go, after about three hours... I'm rushing out the door to a meeting so I couldn't quite give it the polish I would have liked, as well as provide a monochrome preview. And Imgur's down! Urgh! Anyways, here we go.
TinyPic makes my head hurt.
According to steamdb the peak concurrent player count has been around 150-250 for the past 3 months (and some people don't use Steam, so I'd say you can safely add a couple dozen to those numbers).
The peak player numbers have more or less steadily declined since October last year, when they were at ~300-400. August this year was a low point, when the player count was barely peaking at 100. Then, after the announcement of Hi-Rez's renewed support, the player numbers jumped back up to where they are now.
There has been no significant drop in active players since August. Maybe you're playing at odd hours where there are only ~50-100 players online? Maybe, since you said you've just came back, you have no reference point and are comparing the player numbers to what they were 2 years ago?
The numbers you mentioned for T1 and T2 don't match my memory. T1 appears to have sold 210k copies, T2 sold 400k as this article seems to state. You're correct in that T2 didn't reach millions of users, but 400k sales in 2001 is pretty decent and double sales of T1.
Anecdotally, I would argue that most people aren't referencing Tribes 1 due to my personal experience at trade shows and general conversations with Tribes players. I know pirating was big in Tribes (and also the Demo, which a silly number of people played extensively), but I'd like to see your numbers on that "6 million reached" figure (which is just shy of total Halo 2 unit sales in NA).
That was how I understood it as well. Maybe we will get a small balance patch in the "near" future, but that would be it.
I mean the reason why this new patch was greenlighted by the higher ups at Hi-Rez was largely due to them wanting to combat the reputation of being a developer who drops support for their games after they move on to their next product. According to LinkedIn they employ between 200-500 people. I'm presuming they did the math and figured that allocating 2 devs and a community manager for 4 months on this project was worth the cost. I assume they feel that this will even turn a profit, since people are more likely to spend money on micro transactions in SMITE and Paladins, if they aren't afraid that the developer is going to drop support for the game a few years down the line.
They're a business and their goal is to make money. Unlike previously, when they dropped support and made empty promises to combat the negative PR that ensued, they've actually done everything they said they'd do. I don't necessarily need the motives of a for-profit company to be purely altruistic, I'd just prefer as much transparency and honesty as possible.
Thanks for the info. I'm setting up a spreadsheet in google docs to organize it all better, so I don't have to keep linking to old threads and such.

I've added a couple new maps to Legacy and applied some smoothing to the terrains, which makes a big difference both graphically and for skiing. Now that the map loading code and other back end pieces have matured a bit, I'm ready to really get cracking on multiplayer and a user map creation / import system!
The sweet new music is a work in progress by fawstoar.

not a tech guy so i'll leave you with two links for you to test with:
It's too late for you but considering others might be after any advice put in here, you can get a free Spinfusor for the Soldier class by using this link http://www.mmorpg.com/giveaways.cfm/offer/330/Tribes-Ascend-Spinfusor-Gift-Keys.html This offer should be good for quite a few more days at the rate the numbers are going down. There's also 250 gold available via Facebook I think, it popped up on the launcher for me.
As for what to buy, I'm also new so I can't help much, but I'd advise you watch some videos on how to play the classes well, work out what you personally like to do, play a bit, use the training mode to test all of the different things out (everything is unlocked there since the patch) and then make a more informed decision based on your experience.

Also remember, bitrate has nothing to do with performance, unless your HDD is really slow, no modern HDD is that slow though.
not my hand but i hold a mouse like this: https://gyazo.com/39673d7eaf814640957c8da623797a8f
tho idk how why because when i played tribes alot i used g400 and i don't think it's even possible to hold it like that tho i don't remember but in tf2 i used an abysuss+mico+g100s and i held them like this: http://i.imgur.com/CJWWDrz.jpg long fingernails sorry
but the problem with holding mouse like that is that the horizontal tracking is very very inconsistent and doesn't feel natural, also i have to warm up like 2 hours until i can play comfortably so it's a pain but i can flick so well with it and that was mostly what tf2 was so i was ok with it
there is more mouse to palm and stuff too so i thought it would be fun to learn how to like poerply hold a mouse again
Here's an AHK script that has a rectangle in it. (It's from shad's youtube page)

after you've done this once then only loader.exe has to be run when using it

This is a ~~rectangle~~ reticule i'm using. it's a dot and a line: http://imgur.com/Jdw6BWW (also for 1920x1080)
So it looks like we're winning this too. Check out the current voting:

However, even if we win over Mark of the Ninja, I reckon going up against Assassins Creed 3/Planetside 2/COD: BLOPS II will be impossible if we can't pull of some epic trolling.
My recommendation would be to buy a pair of quality headphones and some sort of table-top or clip on mic. Most headsets with build in microphones have pretty poor audio quality.
These have been serving me faithfully for a little over a year now: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Sennheiser+-+Closed+Over-the-Ear+Professional+Headphones+-+Gray/6421561.p?id=1077626749728&skuId=6421561
Reaching out to other gaming sites may have an impact, MMORPG and MMoSite both have TA sections but they've not been updated since 2012. I expect all effort is going into updating the game (which is a noble effort, but fruitless if no one shows up to see the way the game is evolving). At this point TA needs a good PR campaign - it doesn't have to cost a lot, someone just needs to stir the embers. Last time I played TA while connected to Steam all it did was act as a beacon alerting friends what I was playing. Maybe if TA can actually expand its presence there, it might expand its player base.

Could someone pull up the match results on that one? Pretty sure BIuelcedWinds got a slayer before he was counter-hacked and re-joined to record the 'incriminating evidence' against Green. Found it
Tribes: Ascend is definitely my core FPS now. I left TF2 back when they went on to the micro-transaction system for hats, and there's not been anything to fill that gap until now.
Only game I see pulling me away from Tribes is Planetside 2 simply because it was the only MMO game I played for nearly 4 years solid. Seeing my beloved NC with a facelift for the next generation of gaming makes me tingly in places.
i want it known that i didn't create this fix.
i stumbled across it a couple of years ago. i wanted to play some Starsiege, and i ran into the same issue everyone who runs it on Vista or newer does.
an old school forum post provided the answers.
the other cool piece of software to make this ancient game work is this nifty Glide wrapper.
this will allow your modern video card to emulate a Voodoo card. this is how the game is really meant to be played. software rendering mode is ok, but nothing was sweeter than playing this game on my 450Mhz K6-2 and my Voodoo 3. you need to set the renderer mode to Glide in the video options of the game.
Don't worry, mumbl is shit anyway. Try this out: http://customdesktoplogo.wikidot.com/download
I've suggested it to others and they have great success with it and apparently it's getting around.
If you need to edit your reticle be sure you save it as a .png with transparency preserved.
It's pretty straightforward, turn the animation in the program off so it doesnt flicker line up center with center in tribes and then turn the reticle in tribes off.
>The wierd thing is he has quite the fast internet speed (100)...He had constant lag.
The internet is all the same "speed". A 100mbit connection is no "faster" than a 1mbit connection, the speed of light in fiber: ~ 1.9 x 10^8 m/s. Bandwidth doesn't describe how fast a connection is; rather, how wide.
The only thing that matters is routing. Either of these tools will help solve this problem: https://www.pingplotter.com/
Fixing it however is another matter. If his isp has terrible peering... well... that's unfortunate, but they're not going to be breaking any contracts because a home user has bad ping to a video game. If it's somewhere along the path, then you have to wait it out. If it's the lowrez servers... good luck with that. Sorry to be blunt.
Mac users should get by now that having to install Windows 7 in bootcamp is basically the same as having to install an Xbox 360 or PS3 to play games.
OS X just isn't a dominant gaming platform. Linux isn't either. That really isn't a problem because both provide multiple ways to still play PC games.
If you people want to fix this, somehow push for OpenGL to become more popular in major games. The reason PC is dominant is because Microsoft owns DirectX, which is an audio+graphics+controls API which almost every major game uses, and MS obviously will never port this to other OSes.
OpenGL is also a graphics API, but because DirectX also includes sound and joystick support (it was more game oriented) it became more popular back when both were fighting for dominance.
But these days that are more than enough libraries that also support sound and joystick support (like SFML, as a quick example); you just need to cherry-pick the best framework for each feature instead of getting a complete pack that does everything you want.
Another reason DirectX is more popular is because it's easy to port from Xbox 360 to PC using it.

No real solutions. Only had 1 free VPN server work (PrivateTunnel), but Abxel managed to get Wtfast working, so you could try that or try Tunnelbear. It should be noted that Privatetunnel and Tunnelbear have a harsh datacap, so I wouldn't recommend those at all. Your best bet is hoping that Wtfast works for you.
If you're searching by yourself, you should entirely ignore HotSpot Shield. It's slow and the free service only has a US based VPN server.
I did try a few PPTP vpn servers, but most of them denied UDP packets (traffic used for stuff like games) and were obviously useless.
i do understand
i understand that you have no clue how to talk respectfully to someone
and I didn't "arbitrarily" decide that there are only two possible ways to be nice to him
I simply mentioned the two that are the fastest, easiest, and most commonly done
then, after listening to someone who represented the HoF side of things, I presented my reasoning for not scooby-snacking the HoF the cap
I don't use this myself, but I copied it from some other guy who made the graphics as bad as he possibly could because I thought it was amusing.
However, you may find it useful. https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B1GJgqmC-xtYT3Q2TnhKbGp1Q2M/edit
I was sniping with about 45 FPS and doing alright. Once I tweaked my .ini and started getting 90 FPS, my sniping got so much better. This list of tweaks helped me immensely (I disabled dynamic shadows and light ray shafts, among some other settings I can't remember off the top of my head.)
It seems accurate enough, though I could come up with a very similar list just looking at the future content spreadsheet. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Auasa0boe0nldFNuMHNlbXU2TkVrRXN2T0ZsbmxnaUE
This game is basically tribes 2 for android. You are a dragon and it has sick skiing mechanics. No multiplayer and no guns and pretty much a completely different game though. But as close as you'll get I think.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lsgvgames.slideandfly
I'm getting the Asus G75vx in a week and I was wondering what kind of frames I would be getting. It has a Nvidia Geforce GTX 670MX video card. Specs
It's anecdotal...
My anecdotes conflict with your anecdotes. That's why anecdotal evidence is never evidence.
Nvidia drivers caused 30% of all Vista crashes in 2007 compared to AMD's 9%. Official microsoft telemetry. This is evidence, not an anecdote. Nvidia drivers have killed cards before, AMD's have not. That is fact, not anecdote.
Sounds odd. Try these ones then: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B_ITCfuPZKt6STJqNXdmTVFaeG8&usp=sharing They should work correctly. If they don't, I suggest you go in one of the Tribes Vengeance facebookgroups for better support.
Whenever you have a question about where any windows program is loading (or trying to load) a file from on your system, you can use the excellent free "process monitor" tool.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx
That's how I found the path to my file. It's kind of annoying to use it until you learn how to build the filters, though. I think you'd want something like EventClass=filesystem, path includes tribes.ini or something. Make sure you use a very specific filter, at minimum set it to filesystem and process=TribesAscend.exe because if you just tell it to monitor all events in the entire computer system you will be sorry.
If there isn't one in the right location, as jojo magnificent said, you should be able to just drop one in there. You'll have two choices: either drop in the default one from the main tribes game location (it's not used, but it's there anyway, probably as part of the install process?) or you can copy somebody else's.
I didn't do it to solve this problem, but I did copy a comp player's posted tribes.ini. It shot my FPS from around 50 to around 90, but now the sky is much less pretty and everyone looks a little.... weird. But I dig it anyway.
The game does not natively support controllers. I used an old Xbox controller years ago just as an experiment, and I think I used JoyToKey.
Good luck playing T1 with a controller though. The gameplay doesn't really suit it.
From what I can tell borderless gaming just tells windows to override the default area for a window to be and makes it your native resolution.
It's worked amazingly for me so far, especially with dual monitors, gotta say it's fucking great and totally worth the money.
But if you want to test it out it's available free on github: https://github.com/Codeusa/Borderless-Gaming/releases/tag/8.2
DisplayFusion FTW!
Edit: If you need a fix for the Windows Auto-Snap feature not working on a 3-monitor setup I use GridMove. It doesn't have a 3-monitor config by default but I wrote one that works great for me. I can send it to you if you want.
Cool, i will be there. Any special tricks to getting T1 to run again or are the links pretty simple?
Edit: Seems the T1 download link is dead. I'll hunt around for another.
Edit2: Game can be downloaded here but does require a download assistant. I'll update if I get it working or not.
The website is down, too. http://www.tribesascend.com/ Apparently, > The Account Management and Registration areas of our site are not available at the moment due to a temporary technical issue.
Unreal Tournament is a comparable title, there's a new one being openly developed right now. Though I'm personally waiting for them to add vehicles and vehicle CTF into the game, regular CTF is already in the game and there are some good maps for it.
Yea it's from some of those guys. I wouldn't count on it being a full commercial release, but it might be fun for someone who enjoys the Tribes movement and wants a deeper (potentially) experience.
It could easily end up with a http://www.xonotic.org/ kind of community. They found a game they liked and they keep refining it. I doubt FreeFall will gain mass appeal. It just seemed like something PoS might want to try in a year or so.
The gtx 760 is equal to a 670 not a 660.
Evga has awesome customer support, if it dies within warranty most people have gotten free upgrades, the step up program lets you register your card and if a more powerful cars comes out you can essentially pay the difference. Here: http://www.evga.com/support/stepup/
If you want amd and have use them before then go for it man, lots of people use them and love them, I've just had bad experiences, So I'm now team green only (nvidia).
If you haven't figured out a solution yet, I've noticed a lot of computers that come into my office have Sticky Keys enabled and it causes some really terribly noises when certain buttons are pressed.
Oh ok, then I have no idea. You could also use wireshark to see what exactly is happening, which IPs the game is communicating with etc. I have no idea how to use that program tho.
One of my friends is making something alone since 2013, but I've never been sure about his project as it didn't look serious for me. He's planning some alpha soon, there is some group in VK.

You could apply at The Art of Warfare at TAW.net
I joined 2 weeks ago and im liking it here. Currently the EU platoon play 2 times week, thursday and sunday at 21:00 to 22:00 CET. The division is new and its a bit unorganized but it'll come eventually when we our own private server.
