> Doctors still don't understand what causes multiple sclerosis. But ongoing research shows that from your genes, to where you live, to the air you breathe, there are many factors in play.
If they don't know what causes it, you certainly don't. And the government certainly had control over the locations in which you lived and the quality of the air that you breathed.
You signed a blank check with the government that they could spend your life when and where they saw fit. Let them pay you back for your condition, which their experts have determined is worthy of that payment.
Do not compare yourselves to others. Every person's road is their own. Use the services that you need to use. Go to mental health. Find a support group. Use other resources:
> In 2003 the Department of Veterans Affairs established the VA MS Centers of Excellence (MSCoE). The MSCoE utilize a network of regional programs, telemedicine and informatics to:
> * improve care for veterans with MS,
> * enhance MS education for patients, caregivers and providers
> * promote research into the causes and treatments for MS.
You’re not coming across as a douche, but understand this isn’t gonna change - ever.
My recommendation?
These: Audio-Technica ATH-M50x Professional Studio Monitor Headphones, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HVLUR86/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_p2UgDbRHWGKVK
I’d never heard of the brand before, and I always prided myself on having good headphones - but these are amazing.
Here is what helped me graduate:
RateMyProfessor will help you pick the best teachers. Also, please rate after each semester.
Amazon/Chegg book rentals. Wait a day or so after class meets to make sure you actually need the book.
Understand that a deployment(s) does not make you SME on Iraq/Afg, world politics, anything else.
VA Work Study is tax free money and working in the vet office at my school was great because I was already on campus and provided me with some extra cash.
Paid internship for credit is great! When you graduate you'll be a few years removed from the military and industry experience will matter. Being in the military is great and all, but it is getting more and more competitive where that isn't the differentiator it used to be.
Enjoy homie and good luck.
Former 11B here - trust me when I say that I know exactly how you are feeling. It was frustrating enough to me that I had a running joke with a friend that I was going to start answering math problems with the number/type of rounds necessary to "solve" the problem. Trust me when I say that it will make sense again if you give it time.
I can't offer any specific recommendations without knowing what kind of degree you are looking to pursue, but you might consider checking out the Khan Academy or University of Reddit as good places to get exposure to some of the concepts. They both have an interesting mix of modules that you can go through if you have the time, and Khan Academy helped me get through several of my freshmen level pre-reqs. They aren't the same as actually sitting in class, but they might help get your brain ready.
Edited to add: I'm not sure what type of school you're planning on attending, but one of the most helpful things for me was that I started off doing my pre-req's at a local community college before transferring to a larger school. This allowed me to start low (well below what High School graduates started with) and build my way up to harder classes in a low stress environment.
>I do wish I had kept in touch with the Marines in my unit and even more especially the other corpsman with me in the unit, Walter Poimbouf.
When were you in? There's a Walter Poimboeuf on LinkedIn that was in from '88-'08 (HN1 RET).
Former 11B here as well and I just finished my first semester of college last week. The first thing I would recommend is a placement test. See if your university offers something like the accuplacer, which will tell you where you stand on reading, writing and math. Then you can address specific weakness in your knowledge.
What you actually study in the coming months should be depend on the type of degree you want. If you're planning on pursing an English degree, don't bother with things biology and physics. If you are going into one of the STEM(science, technology, engineering and medicine) fields try to bring yourself up to the point where you don't have to take any remedial courses.
Don't worry about your wife's homework, you haven't done the coursework or attended the lectures so how could you be expected to understand the homework?
Some of the things you can do:
I love this one! Make sure you use a cover can’t really wash a weighted blanket.
Quility Weighted Blanket for Adults - Queen Size, 60"x80", 25 lbs - Heavy Heating Blankets for Restlessness - Grey, Tide Cover https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H5P4FQV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_ZXZ6PXMSPBPGSH8CW5B9?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Here is a good one but read the reviews and such and happy to help. It take a lot of the avid stress from sandbagging and firing etc.
I purchased this last year off of amazon and I have zero complaints. Ruptured cervical discs, spasms, the whole gambit. It helps tremendously, is affordable but not a cure.

This kind of attack usually happens when you reuse passwords. Check out https://haveibeenpwned.com/ to see what breaches you both are in and stop reusing passwords. Get yourself a password manager and give every account a unique password no matter how unimportant you think it is.
You should also make sure to create a strong master password to the password manager and write it down and keep it somewhere safe like a safety deposit box or a fireproof safe in your home. If you forget the master password there are no reset options for password managers, that is what keeps them safe. It might be worth it if you both let each other know your master password just in case something happens to either one. Look into 1Password or Bitwarden as they have family accounts and will work for you need.
Not actually an answer to your question, as I do not know. But, if the answer turns to a no by someone, I would say go to your local Charleston Costco. I know where I am at in California, I went to the optometrist there and got contacts and everything and it was about $100-$150 to my memory for seeing the optometrist, getting the prescription, and ordering of the contacts.
First, look into healthcare through the VA. There are some cases where the VA will provide healthcare to dependants. You may want to look into https://www.healthcare.gov, a.k.a. the "Obama Care" site. Based on the very vague information you have given, it may result in more cost effective options starting on Nov. 1 when open enrollment starts. Best of luck to you!
Huh?
Not every place that is part of the US has representation in Congress. And no, it is not really 'fair' but that is the way it is.
Look up all three and you will find they are territories of the US.
You must have earned income to contribute to an IRA. You can still invest it in a brokerage account, and you should be if you don't need it right now.
Ask your doc about prazosin. It’s a blood pressure med but is proven to help with ptsd related nightmares and is what it is now prescribed for.
I know your doc will have heard of it and he will most likely write you a prescription if it won’t interfere with other meds.
Worth a look!
Hey, I talked to splunk customer support. They said "registration" refers to registration for the courses, and not registration of an account.
This page (accessed from clicking the Training button in the top bar of the splunk homepage) is where you go to register for courses. There should be a "Free Fundamentals 1" course that has a "View and Register" button underneath it. You'd click the View and Register in order to start your course and start your 30-day window.
To confirm you're not registered for any courses, from the page I just linked you, click the "Log in to Splunk Education" button on the right. That'll take you to your profile showing any courses you have opened or completed. The Registrations tab should be empty. If so, then you're good!
Likely, you already know about Professor Messor's free online A+ training.
He also offers a 10% off voucher for the exam.
Best of luck!
Time and Date Calculator from Sept 11 2001 - Dec 19th 2003 is 829 days So he only has that many days that count towards his service for post 9/11 GI Bill. 27 months of service after 9/11 gets him 80%.
80% is still good though. It is better than nothing. He gets 80% of his tuition and fees covered, and 80% of the BAH. Still better than if he were to have stuck with his original Montgomery GI Bill.

r/Warhammer40k has kept me occupied for the past few years and it can be quite therapeutic.
Try this simple but awesome game for starters: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07J3PG964/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_20tfFbXBRXBFD
You can play it by yourself like you're a squad leader or play with it people as a team and learn from eachother.
Simple shit like that can make the complex shit not so difficult.
Here is the information you need from the ACA website: https://www.healthcare.gov/income-and-household-information/
It says to report taxable income you would report when filing taxes plus any income from: 1) Tax-exempt foreign income 2) Tax-exempt Social Security benefits (including tier 1 railroad retirement benefits) 3) Tax-exempt interest
It also says to estimate what you will earn next year not what you earned this year.
I recommend taking a look at this: https://aws.amazon.com/partners/training/learning-plan/
Its free to sign up and they have quite a few self paced training courses related to the business side.
IMO really strong BI analysts should know the technologies that can make their job easier and data more relevant. Some example AWS services that fall in that category would be these: https://aws.amazon.com/products/analytics/
Hey OP. I'm just writing to offer data points in support of the above suggestion. I wholeheartedly suggest meetup.com. You'll find a lot of groups involved a number of activities. You don't have to pick just one, and you don't have to go to every group event. And if a group isn't for you then you don't have to go back. And you can ease into it. Many laughs to be had. And in-person interaction with a benevolent group of people is very, very good for your state of mind. Plus it keeps you out of your head.
One other big suggestion: Control your media and online diet. There's just a lot of "breaking news" and mindless commentary and chatter that you're no better off for seeing, where actually communicating with other human beings isn't the goal -- and it shows. Plus it's just more time staring at a screen in isolation.
You have no idea how right you are in regards to loneliness. Meetup.com, hey? Thank you for pointing me there; I'll have to give it a look.

Laughter is an old friend I dearly miss. And thanks for your well wishes - my day went better than a lot of them have recently. I'd like to think there's been some positive support coming from your way for that.
Install and sign into this app called VA on the app store. Apple should have it too. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=gov.va.mobileapp
Lots of great resources there.
Fort Worth is great VA location. Dallas is a mess, parking, construction, etc.
I got wipes. They came in a little white container with a red label. It helped out quick. I think they were under 20$ too.
Here’s a link
Couple of things.
I prefer private care to MY va. Your va location matters.
The VA is not required to pay for non va care (see below about the court case). Learn the process. Link below.
https://www.va.gov/COMMUNITYCARE/programs/veterans/emergency_care.asp
Importantly there was a huge court ruling saying the va has to pay for non er care. No idea where that is in regards to appeals or if it will ever go into effect.
I would not drop private insurance for $90 if it was me. That's not enough savings for me to sleep at night. That's me. Deal with some VA billing issues and you'll understand. I would not drop it on the hopes that the court ruling MAY go into effect. You'll have to decide what's right for you.
If you drop it, I would plan on having to pay something for non VA care.
I'm failing at copying shit from linkedin but here is a link to an article

But still excited to hear about what you guys are doing!
Lets get on a call... I am on live on twitch from 7am till 10am. www.twitch.tv/seemoreprofessionals If you and I are on a call, I mute the channel, so none of your information will ever be live. You can set up a time for us to talk using this calendar link. https://calendly.com/sean_seemorepros Once you setup a time email me at your resume with contact info! I will call you directly and we can start the first phase. Also, the first call kinda helps me to figure out your goal. So we may have to get on a few calls together. Just know I am willing to do whatever I can to help! So don’t limit yourself to one call.
Not sure if I responded already. Yes, right now, if a veteran is in an emergency I will give them priority, but that isn't likely to happen.

Its not, but we can work something out. You can still book a time, just make sure to say you can't be on a call and we will do it all via email.

If I may, I would like to recommend myNoise.
Buy the premium version for $10, and you get unlimited sound generators, which you can mix together and save as you like. These people are professional sound artists, the fidelity is incredible, and I give them money sometimes simply because I am so grateful for them.
Here is what I did/ still do to earn money. Load up canva.com create a few flyers. Save them to a usb stick. Goto a college campus, have a college kid print about 500 of them for like 50 cents. Take them and walk residential areas saying you'll help with chores, cut up downed trees, etc. Get a few people lined up and just work. One neighborhood put me out of a tough spot several years ago.
There are a lot of programs offering free coding for Vets. Check your city, county and state for programs. Here is one as well.
OperationCode
I also recommend FreeCodeCamp
They have a great community and is a great place to start till you can get into a program.
I paid for the full version of this (unlimited sound generators):
I love this app. I love it so much that I'll occasionally send them tips out of gratitude. Also, paying for the full version means that whenever they create a new sound generator, you can download it free. This is fine group of people.
You could start by learning about the A+ cert and seeing if you find your interest. Then either additional certs or a degree. I'm currently interested in developing. I just started The Odin Project https://www.theodinproject.com/ . I'm still debating whether or not go just do the coding work and build a resume or try to go back to school. I completed The Google IT Support Professional Course through Coursera. It was a good course but I don't feel like it is a job ready course. More for those that have little computer specific knowledge to get a broad understanding.
I have applied for the VET TEC program and currently waiting for the reply, they send it in the mail instead of being able to see it online. I would suggest applying for the program early, they said it takes about a month but that was before this pandemic so it could be longer now.
Every program that I've seen has pre course work to do and an interview/test to get in. If you find a specific program you can also find a lot of free courses and information online. People that are motivated enough can be self taught, one example is https://www.freecodecamp.org/. Or go check out /r/learnprogramming/. A lot of free courses, that vary in quality, with everything going on.
The first year that was out and not living in the area where I had last been stationed, I managed to make some friends through hobbies and MeetUp.com groups. I also lived in a large city so that helped. I moved to another city for school, where I am now. With my major, I am around the same people for most of my classes and have formed a pretty decent group of good friends, only one of which is a vet and even still he was a Reservist for four years over a decade ago so the military connection wasn't a huge factor.
You do have to put yourself out there. I'm pretty introverted but made myself get involved in things where I would meet like-minded people.
LibreOffice is a free Office-like suite of tools available for most platforms.
Microsoft Office is available for free through their website, as long as you have a student email with an institution that is currently a registered partner with Microsoft.
Apple offers their entire suite free of charge online with a valid Apple ID account, and you can export to any format including PDF and .docx
I don't know if anyone has said this yet but if you still have an active military email you can go to https://www.safaribooksonline.com/accounts/login/ and get a free account. They have tons of cyber related books. You can go on your phone and get the app "solo learn" which had lots of beginner tutorials as well. Most base or unit libraries have web login to be able to read books as well.
This helps a lot with my tinnitus. When it's especially bad, I put my phone on the speaker dock with the app playing and it really does help/make it tolerable.
The app itself is free and comes with a very small selection of sounds, but for $5, you can get access to every sound (there are over 200 and you can mix and match them to create a sound that works for you).
Best $5 I've ever spent.
I was told to post this here:
I just found out and thought you might be interested if you're quarantined at home.
I searched and saw there was a post like this some years back, but it seems especially relevant now. Learning/messing around with Solidworks specifically will be beneficial for you no matter what kind of work you do now.
You will need a printer to print out and sign a form, and scan/take picture of your DD-214 (black out your SSN using MSPaint or somethibg) to upload them both. See link
> Are there any free online certifications I can work on for getting a foot in the door in either cyber/IT?
I have built three IT teams. What I learned was that the resume is just a waste of paper. If you start at the low end of the totem pole, and work your way up, that's usually the best.
This is probably the only one that lets us know you can power cycle a computer: https://www.cybrary.it/course/comptia-901-2018/
You can also just print out a fake certificate, there's no way for us to verify it.
> I stated above that you will obtain digital copies of your x-rays, well those digital copies don't work in any specific computer. They require specific software that some doctors have to be viewed. You might need to get them developed and/or printed somehow.
The images -- X-Ray and MRI that you can request and download from MyHealthEVet (Premium acct) are in the DICOM format..
You can get a free DICOM viewer, the best one I found so far is the MicroDicom DICOM viewer
Or better yet, the next appointment you have at your VA hospital, make some time to talk with records release.. My hospital to get X-Rays or MRIs you go to radiology, tell them you need some films, give the clerk the dates and images you want, you sign a release form, and in about 15 minutes or so you'll get CD's with the images that includes a reader as well.
Hey so I just discovered this while searching for Father’s Day gifts . Literally looks like you can learn/get the gist of anything without making yourself vulnerable or committing to any particular topic/hobby.
Maybe peruse the offerings and see if anything at least seems intriguing.
Got out of the army in 2017, decided to move back home with family and go to school for supply chain management since that is what i did in the army and thought it would be easy. I hated all the classes I was taking.
I went in and out of school, dropped classes. Didn't realize you had to pay everything back for dropping a class, ended up in debt from that ON TOP of the credit card debt I was having and being behind on car payments. Almost ended homeless and im grateful I moved back home, because my family let me crash at their place while picking my feet back up.
I always wanted to be a game developer as a kid so I recently bought some courses on udemy.com to learn some and im so happy I did. I'm enjoying it so much that i plan on changing my degree path up to something related to it... but now its making me unhappy at work because I dislike this job and my supervisor who is great is a CPT who is rotating out. im forced to do online classes after work and take forever to get my degree. So i will probably quit after getting accepted to a local university and go full time.
I've been able to pay off a decent amount of the debt and shockingly I appreciate covid happening because I stayed home and didn't waste any money on gas, and the stimmy checks helped me out with extra money.
The transitioning is so hard and for me it took years for me to get my shit together and now that i got it together, i realize that isn't what I want with my life and now I want to do something else. I've got 19 months left of my post 9/11 and I'm hoping it wont take as long.
I never did my claim after getting out and its catching up to me, so i'm in the process of doing my claim.
Its so hard and nothing could have prepared me for this, and i try to help as many people as possible when they are in the process of transitioning. I look forward to one day being happy and fufilled.
Hey man, you can also look into something like just googling for Youtube courses on the subject, or try Udemy.com. The wife and I have both used it to learn new skills or get better at various stuff that school didn't teach well.
This is the one I bought and love. Make sure you get one with a cover and use it cause a weighted blanket will f*ck up your washing machine 😑

No worries. In terms of where to look, I went with things like Art of Manliness, books on men’s style etc. but that stuff is usually limited. The point is, you want to have stuff that doesn’t generally go out of style.
If you’re a professional dressing more professional than your peers. Go to a store and find out your collar and sleeve size so you know what type of shirt fits you besides SML, etc. Know roughly your waist and length.
Most guys as a whole can pull off button down shirts and jeans or chinos. Same with a polo. It’s not going to be fashionista shit, but you’ll come across clean-cut. If you’re going casual, then it’s basic t shit and jeans like everyone else. Adding on stuff like a light jacket or something helps stand out.
This was a fun book to get as a primer:
Its normal for vets and non-vets to feel that way.
The thing I keep in mind is that the holidays are not really for me. They're for others who care about me.
I'm in the same boat where I don't want anything. Shit, when you get past 40, you'll want to start getting rid of shit instead of accumulating it.
The solution to that was to make lists on Amazon of books you want and nick nacks that you planned on getting for yourself. I have MagLites, slippers, video games, colognes and 3d printer filament (lol). When someone wants to know what you want, share the list. This way you can actually explain why you wanted it and that you'll use it.
I have this on my list, because fuck it (ha) Its going in my bathroom if someone buys it for me:

You may find some satisfaction in knowing that they are enjoying themselves thinking about you. I did.
Not the one you're asking, but this is what I use. Sounds like a fan (and the sound is somewhat adjustable by turning the cover) but without the airflow.
I use this. It's handy as I can take that day with me to work or where ever and I still have my meds on my. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PYQVLYS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&th=1

If your veteran friend likes Generation Kill (TV Show), then One Bullet Away by Nathan Fick would be a good book. I haven’t read it personally, but it has been recommended by several other Marine friends.
~$6 investment. Go into this and ignore all of the religious "stuff" and don't get caught up in the last example is "do whatever it takes to the extreme". Kind of like the "Men are from Mars..." books. Easy quick read that may add some insight, at least allows you to define some additional approaches to resolving conflict.
On the other side (I'm a project manager by profession), having a project (marriage) fail, is ok. Sometimes it's the best outcome of the current situation.
Keep talking regardless. I know it sounds dumb - but communication stops when you stop communicating....

You can do it, but do it for yourself first; others will benefit from your strength indirectly.
Also, Albert Camus was French and so his work is available in French foremost, but has been widely translated around the planet so you can probably find translations for your native language. Perhaps starting with "The Myth of Sisyphus" might be a better choice since it's not a work of fiction that needs interpretation by the reader, but is instead a collection of essays which are much less allegorical, which can become muddled and lost in translations.
Just remember that a warrior's attitude towards life is a valiant one.
Get one of these, http://www.amazon.com/Marpac-Natural-actual-inside-Machine/dp/B000KUHFGM/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1460489218&sr=8-1&keywords=dohm+sound I have a few throughout my house, it keeps a constant background white noise, which somehow helps me hear things much easier than absolute silence. Dont get a cheap sound machine, they sound like aliens trying to burrow into your house after a while.
If you have his unit number/designation, you might be able to locate a unit history. Some are online, even. Some others may have an officer in charge of keeping those records who you can write to and request the unit's Vietnam story.
Also, I have a book that is very dear to me -- it's thick but it actually has aerial photos and maps of my deployment areas in Vietnam. It's Where We Were in Vietnam: A comprehensive guide to the Firebases, Military Installations and Naval Vessels of the Vietnam War. Thick thing, $44 on Amazon and $10 on Kindle. I highly recommend the print version as I'd never be able to read some of the smaller maps on my Kindle.
