It'd be nice with the growing number of courses that require a computer, especially with the spread of online only HW and textbooks.
Until they add more, you could keep something like one of these in your backpack and ask someone to share an outlet.
Off of University on Calvin Moore Ave. (right in front of The Gardens University Apartments), there's a free air pump in front of the police office right there.
I would recommend being careful with the metal ring size adjusters, those bars that go across. No matter what the person putting it on might say, it can damage your ring. I was told to get one, and now i have a lovely section on my Aggie Ring missing from where it was wrapped around my. Instead, I would recommend getting a clear silicone ring adjuster. They're at Wal-Mart, right by the jewelry section clear cases, in a stand up blue box that you just grab from (under $5). If you're a home shopper, you can buy them at https://www.walmart.com/ip/Ring-Snuggies-Ring-Adjusters/19512955. I am a size 16 men's ring, and they had one in the pack that fit it. I trust it so much, when my fiancee's engagement ring was a bit too big, I went to get her one until we could get it resized. Hope this helps, I just don't want anyone else to damage their ring like I did by listening to bad advice.
IF you are going to New Braunfels then read below
I stayed here as part of a river trip for a yearly Corps Reunion each May
It's not terrible, but it's not that great either.. but you won't be staying there too long. Just think of it as a better than average MOTEL.
Across the street is where we got our tubes.
I can't for the life of me remember what it was called but it's got fair prices. I would not recommend going tubing during a super busy weekend.. or to take a tube. Take a raft instead. There are lots of rapids where I've seen people just wipe out and lose all their things. Plus in a raft you can take bigger cooler for beer and it's just much more relaxing than constantly sitting in the water. Costs about $90 for the float, they can hold 4-6 people depending on how big of a raft it is.
I'm no expert, only been on the river 3 times and I did not organize it. I did a tube the first time and a raft the other two and I can only recommend the rafts. That's really all the advice I can give.
Also... you meet a lot of drunk girls on the river, and they want to latch onto your raft or get inside. Good Bull Ags. Good Bull.

Drop the ring in the solution for a minute, brush out the details, then polish with the cloth. This kit will last you for multiple years and takes no more than five minutes from the comfort of your own home.
It may sound like extra work, but learn to use flow charts well. I just graduated and my Capstone project was building and programming a semi-autonomous go-kart. Our program was well over 3000 lines of code and we had over 50 different flow charts.
I cannot stress enough how useful flow charts are. Learn how to plan a program, learn how to think of ways your program will brake, and learn simple programming theory like 2shy2flutter recommended.
If you have your NetID setup, go to software.tamu.edu and you can get matlab and labview for free (at least I could when I was a student). If you're serious about LabVIEW, PM me and I can get you some example programs and solutions (with a pdf) that helped me get CLAD certified.
Check out The C Programming Language by Kernighan and Ritchie (the creators of C). Even if you don't program in C, it's one of the best books to learn programming practice.
I hate to be all old Army, but I remember the SMU game in 2005 where it hit 99 that day. We stayed until I passed out and was diagnosed with heat exhaustion and the paramedics literally made me leave. That was third quarter, and granted I was a little delirious, but I would have stayed if I could have.
If you have had the app installed for a while then it's the old one and yes, they have given up on it. Make sure you are using either the updated Android app or the Apple app that /u/flattacos mentioned.
You've already gotten a couple responses from others, but I'd just like to add that given how popular these topics are right now, you can probably find YouTube videos and/or free online courses that would introduce you to the topics. Here's an example of a free ML course. (I linked to this specific one because I'm currently working on a separate course on that website for my job, and I like the way the course I'm doing is structured.) You did mention attending just one lecture, though, so a full course might not be what you want.
Depending on the level of background you have, you might alternatively read some papers on these subjects (although that might just be the former grad student in me talking).
^^ What he said. If it says bookstore recommended, don't get it. Those bastards would recommend you buy a Rolex for an English class. It looks like your physics stuff comes with some access code. You'll need that. Better to just wait and see what the professor says. Find out if y ou can use the older editions(lots of professors let you do this) and get them off a discount site. I like this site.

Not a point of interest, but a tip in reference to your New Student Conference: go to the General Services Complex the day before and get your student ID. Just ask around where to get it taken and it will save you a line.
I would recomend a webdev responsible for setting up a pre-existing script that has these features, or just trying to install one yourself and see if it works.
Generally, it is not a good idea to have a system designed custom for you, unless your company is OK with continuing to pay for support down the road any time code needs updates, features you didn't initially need are desired, support migrating the script etc.
With a pre-made script that is actively being developed you don't have to worry about your script needing rewritten in 2 years when PHP deprecates functions and your webhost stops supporting the old, no longer developed release of PHP your script has been running on.
With a pre-made script security audits are routinely done and the developer releases fixes to patch any issues. With a custom script, you would essentially have to pay for any security audit yourself, and then pay again to have the developer fix issues for you.
What happens if the web server suffers data corruption / loss 4 years from now? With a pre-made script you can source known good files at the developer's site and find support available on the internet. With a custom script, you will have to pay the developer and he likely won't be giving a student discount on his rates any longer.
Depending on what type of invoicing you plan to do, you may want to look at https://www.whmcs.com/pricing/ . Its made for webhosting, but lots of users use it in different manners. It costs each month, yes, but from that you have a set budget cost that guarantees you updates and support if something breaks.
You can also check out other scripts like those at https://hackernoon.com/top-3-open-source-subscription-billing-systems-in-2018-eb9e3b8d6d0b
There are also open source shopping cart scripts like Magento, Prestashop, or even WooCommerce on WordPress would likely meet your needs and have better support, interchangeability and longevity than a custom made solution.
Yeah it'll run on basically anything. The only difference is you may have varying render speeds based on your CPU/GPU. But if its a gaming laptop its likely you have a dedicated GPU which is a bonus.
I also found this to be rather helpful, and should help you even more on the understanding portion.
Also, practice problems, practice problems, practice problems. Spend at least three hours a week studying.
If you are looking to work on campus, our campus dining program is hiring students :)
You can work at just about any of our dining locations, including Starbucks. A minimum shift is only 2 hours, so you can knock out a shift in the morning before class and be done for the day if that's what you want. We understand that your education comes first, so we work around your class/exam schedule. You can also get the winter/summer breaks off to go back home, and of course there's free food.
You can find our openings here: https://careers.compassgroupcareers.com/main/jobs?page=1&keywords=chartwells&location=77843&stretch=10&stretchUnit=MILES
We're actually scheduling interviews now (virtual & in person). You can schedule your interview here: https://calendly.com/aggiediningcareers/student-zoom-interview?month=2021-06
AirBnB has a write-up here.
They might send you a 1099 misc income form (which is a pretty common thing to send to subcontractors). If you receive one then you just need to make note of it on your tax return. If you don't then you don't have to do anything. Either way it's no big deal - you have nothing to worry about.
If you're worried about the IRS telling CStat police that you got income from AirBnB and them coming to get you in trouble...don't. That's not what the IRS does. Just fill out any forms that AirBnB requests and you'll be fine.
It's not the router you're after specifically. A router is just a point of wifi and "routing" your connections. What you need is a good, stable connection and control over your own modem. If your apartment's hookups / lines support it, you should buy your OWN modem / router and get a real plan instead. Check your connection here with what you've already got: https://www.speedtest.net/ and pay close attention to latency (ping). If you think all 3 numbers should be suitable, then it's a connection drop in the middle of the call and you should rather try and get your apartment to call a service tech out. Another thing to try is to use some sort of down detection method - either a program, by using a ping command and leaving it running, or checking event logs. Basically, you're needing to get to the heart of the reason WHY your internet drops, and the answer is usually not because of speed. Packet loss, connection lapses, poor signal if on wifi are all some of the reasons this can happen.
I think so based on the Mays LinkedIn board here: https://www.linkedin.com/groups/Texas-M-PPA-4397022/about

TorrentFreak posted an article a while ago reviewing which popular VPN services are anonymous.
From this, I found Private Internet Access, which was something like $40/year. You can pay with bitcoins, they have 256-bit encryption, it's always super quick and their support is great. No complaints whatsoever.
maybe try an air purifier? That’s what i have in my dorm and i haven’t had any ventilation issues. i have this one
i have this one and so far it’s been pretty great. You can flip it into a tablet and take notes so no need for a separate ipad, and it fits all the “required” specs for engineering.
it doesn’t come with a pen but i use this and it works super well. For notes i use drawboard pdf for the most part but there’s a lot of apps you can explore to find the one you like best!
Lot of good suggestions here. I have the folks in my family carry these types of flashlights for a similar purpose.
It's called a tactical flashlight and you can get good ones for $20-30 at places like Academy or Batteries & Bulbs.
If you haven't seen one, they're designed for you be able to stab and twist with them. The sharp edges dig into the skin and when you twist, they cause damage. These type of people typically look for easier prey and if you present a challenge, you have a good chance they leave or you get away.

I picked up a scooter my last semester because I had to go from architecture building to west campus for back to back classes. It was super convenient and I found it worth not having to fight to get on the bus. I used this lock whenever I secured the scooter.

I am in Mosher Hall and I am able to get switch ethernet to work. Although, It is slower than wifi. First, get a router (I got this one). Disable the wireless transmission, so it is basically a gigabit switcher (real gigabit switchers don't work on TAMU wifi). Second, get a USB to ethernet adapter (I recommend the one from Hori). Plug everything in and you should have access to Switch Online.
I second this. Someone gave me an adjuster, but it was slightly too large and somehow also fell off easily. This kind works much better for me. You can figure out how much you need to use in order to make your ring fit perfectly, and it never falls off. It's also endlessly fun to fidget with.

When I rode my bike a lot in the country I would keep pepper gel Velcro'd to my seatpost to spray dogs with and it worked amazingly every time I needed to use it.
Make sure you get the gel though - the spray can come back at you with the wind but the gel will keep going in the direction you spray it

Hell yes. Handball. My favorite sport. I once competed in the tournament that was hosted years ago here. I only moved up 3-4 places, but it was fun as hell. The Handball teacher needed volunteers, and I don't regret making that choice.
My only regret in giving up my Rec center pass in favor of Golds Gym was losing the courts for handball.
Edit: I didn't know my coach retired at the end of the tournament in 2007. Coach Lowy was mean as the dickens if you were an idiot or sucked, but he was fair.

Extra: If you’re going to want to do comp sci, or comp sci adjacent majors, I recommend using VS Code and getting used to how it works before taking CS classes (lang C++, if you want to get a head start w that this is the textbook we used ‘Data Structures and Algorithm...’ https://www.amazon.com/dp/0273769383?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share)

My advice: never buy textbooks immediately, always wait a week or two to see if you will actually use them or need them. I only bought textbooks during my first semester and never opened them, so I haven't bought a single one ever since. You'll only be required to get them if you need an access code for hw, but that won't be the case for all classes. Also, you can find most textbooks as pdf online if you search well enough.
"cough" libgen.is "cough"
Pennington: Gotta work hard everyday. He'll Harp on it all the time and you'll have to keep up with his readings, owls and what not. Review HIS notes and do ALL his old exams!!!! I suggest SI (I'd assume the y're still doing zoom SI) and the Organic chemistry as a second language that he suggests. It helped me a lot. https://libgen.is/book/index.php?md5=81BBEF78DCB7A65F2FB018AE090E5C63
In my opinion, he is tough but he is a great professor. You're gonna do fan-fucking-tastic.
Best of luck!
There's a desktop application called Calibre. On libgen there is a fiction section, try to to find the epub or mobi download of whatever ebook novel you want (make sure it's in the right language). Then, open the ebook with Calibre, and convert it to azw3. Then connect your kindle to your computer and upload that version into it. You don't have to convert mobi files to azw3 because kindles can read both mobi and azw3, but not epub.
Any time someone wants to know about professors, always look at ratemyprof for review on professors. Students write reviews on the prof and you can filter out which class they are teaching. There's a few on all of teachers, I believe.
Check out Airbnb
Never used them before, but they are meant for this kind of stuff
You're actually over-thinking this. All you need is a stencil of the reddit alien and some spraypaint, a la this video. No artist required.
You could have aliens all over campus in a matter of minutes (more like hours, but it all depends on the number of people.
Edit: Hell, you could also probably do something like this. The bottom of the bag is the stencil.
Looking for subletter for 2br/1b split level quadplex unit for September 2019-July 2020. All appliances included (washer/dryer, refrigerator, stove, dishwasher). Tiled downstairs and upstairs hallway; carpeted bedrooms. Fenced back yard with patio and sliding glass/screen door. Quiet neighborhood. About 10 minutes from campus, across FM 2818 from the Bryan Walmart. Pet friendly; requires deposit. Two parking spaces. Ideal for couple or two roommates!
No.
Go to class first, see if you're even going to take the class. If you do, ask the professor which books you'd need. In any case, get your books in one of theses ways:
*download your books from the Internet. Many books are available; the legality of said availability probably depends on who's providing them. Several books I have were provided for download by either the author or the publisher (e.g. Allan Hatcher / many Springer books).
*get used international editions from sites like abebooks.com. Me and my friends used it with wonderful success; the prices there are an order of magnitude smaller than the US editions.
*get your books used, either from Craigslist, Half.com, Amazon used, friends, or other sources. Try that if the previous two methods did not work. Do not buy used books in bookstores around campus, it's usually a ripoff.
The other redditors here suggested renting books. I didn't try that, but seems like a very reasonable solution as well.
Finally, I have taken quite a few courses as an undergraduate where the textbook was not at all necessary for studying (e.g. first-year physics could be learned from Wikipedia better if you have a solid mathematics background, IMO). If the book you need is available in the library, you could get your homework assignments from there, and use other books/the Internet to learn the material.
As a mathematics grad student, I can surely say that you should not buy any costly Calculus book, nor a Linear Algebra book. If you are going to take these courses (and want to learn, as opposed to passing), I'll tell you which books to get.
Except the recommended book in this case is not a second textbook. It is the solution manual to the text, something that was invaluable to me while I was studying physics. There is in fact only one textbook listed in OP's image. One packaged with MasteringPhysics, one standalone MasteringPhysics access code, and the textbook's solution manual.
Of course we must always think critically about what we are told or recommended. I wasn't saying to indiscriminately purchase every recommended item. We would all be remiss to disregard recommended items simply because they weren't required. If we really want to save money, we could do some searching and try to find an international edition or slightly older edition of the book.
On the positive side, I thought my house was 300 feet inside the exclusion zone for Coulter Field. It turns out there is no such zone.
Why not go for a 'HybridVPN', VPN tends to slow down your speed because of its encryption but if you couple it up with SmartDNS then you can improve your speeds and get encryption at the same time. This tech was developed by Le VPN.

Howdy. as a the others of said, OCHEM is not too incredibly difficult it is just a new kind of science that you haven't seen before. when i was at TAMU i took both OCHEM 1 and 2, and worked in a biological chemistry lab (for one of the actual OCHEM professors). i worked really close with my grad student (who was an OCHEM TA), and he always recommended the "OCHEM as a second language book" by David Cline. i read through it after i had taken OCHEM and was kicking myself because the book was soo good at teaching you the fundamentals of OCHEM. it is a really good book if you want to use it as a support resource. i found the newest edition on amazon if you are interested. ( https://smile.amazon.com/Organic-Chemistry-As-Second-Language/dp/1119110661/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=organic+chemistry+as+a+second+language&qid=1563237601&s=gateway&sr=8-1 ) Getting an A is definitely manageable if you put forth the effort.
I'm a tech guy. Love following PC hardware and laptops and Mac all over the place, even built my own PC and stuff. I'm looking through the BYOD suggested list and all I can think is that they're scamming freshman. Straight up I can think of 5 or 6 laptops with better specs and way better performance than this lenovo off the top of my head that are WAY cheaper than $1500. I just want to know if we should suggest other laptops for the freshman BYOD requirement that might not be as crappy as this.
Like, seriously, $1500 and only a U-series i7, a freaking 2GB discrete graphics chip and 8GB of RAM??? The 2019 Acer Helios 300 for example is $300 less, has a 144hz IPS display, 16GB of RAM, the same amount of hard drive space, a freaking H-series 6 core i7, and a spankin' 1660Ti under the cover with x3 the VRAM.
Did I mention it was $300 less too? Here's the amazon link for proof. Seriously guys, be careful with BYOD. I have friends who straight up wasted $1500 on something just as terrible instead of buying something actually great.
Edit: Also, if you're looking for an allegory to the Lenovo, look at the Y530. It's only got a 1050Ti, but the 8750H is still a beast and the 1050Ti is okay for anything 1080p medium settings at 50-60fps. The Helios is better, but that's Acer if you're not into them.
These have been awesome for me. They are my go to from here on out.

This is a really good book by the author of Moneyball, The Big Short, Liar's Poker and others. It details just how different the incoming Trump Administration was from the prior Obama and Bush Administrations, and how dangerous that level of incompetence continues to be.

I always went as in-depth as was possible for me. After I made sure that I knew the concepts, I went on to practice problems. After that point, I would revisit concepts as needed in order to solve the practice problems. That form of repetition helped me master the concepts while also getting some practice at the same time.
I'm a little bit crazy when it comes to studying though. I'd always cover everything in as much detail as possible, and I didn't really have a life outside of school. My craziness paid off as I am graduating with a 4.0 GPA, but I wouldn't recommend killing oneself over grades. You'll make yourself sick if you spend too much time studying (I did. I contracted EColi last Fall and was in the hospital for weeks).
In addition to Khan Academy, I'd also recommend watching lectures on MIT Open Courseware. MIT uploads lecture videos from a number of their lecturers. They cover some pretty advanced engineering topics in detail, and the instructors are usually pretty good.
It is also sometimes helpful to search your course on Google. Chances are that A&M isn't the only school in the nation that offers your course or something like it. Searching around can yield lecture notes from other instructors as well as other instructor's exams and practice problems. Often they use the same book and everything which is awesome. For example, most artificial intelligence courses use a book out of Berkley named Artificial Intelligence: A Modern Approach (AIMA for short). It's super easy to find practice exams that have similar material to your own since the questions are coming from the same textbook.
