This is important, listen up folks!
The CTRL button is absolutely awful, you are way more likely to get a RSI from twisting your hand to reach it (ie TLO). Here's an article on how to edit your registry to remap CAPS LOCK to CTRL (or whatever you want really, seems like a lot of you have already found a better use for caps lock). Even if you use CORE or something so you don't need this for SC2, I found this change nice in real life as well (who the fuck uses caps lock?)

You can find lots of builds here and they should all serve you pretty well
no - except in zvz, which is standard
oh boy. Lots of stuff changed. Everything changed. Youre gonna have to watch some tournaments and streams or talk to someone who has been playing longer than I have.
Map vetoes: I personally vetoed iron fortress, secret springs, and vanni research stations (which is a good map, I just don't like it)

There was just a link for what to do when your opponent does "x" flow chart, but i cant seem to find it atm

i don't know if you're on ATZ daily, otherwise you'd have already seen this awesome mindmap by switzerland's great mYiZervas:

there's pretty much everything you need on every match up. check it out.
cheers
17h18g17p is a totally viable way to open in ZvZ as well, but requires learning the defensive procedure for each type of cheese. I'll likely do a session on this build later, but PiG already covered cheese defense in his Evolution Chamber episode. He also discusses how to establish a Queen/Bane anchor to establish your 3 base economy to move beyond the Ling/Bane stage and get into Roach/Lair tech. Evo Chamber Ep: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bOUHkTUOjA
I would recommend following Snake's stream and asking for a Roach opener--he's a GM player who skips Ling/Bane entirely in many of his ZvZ games: https://www.twitch.tv/snakestyle1
I'm eagerly awaiting that patch for the opposite reason! I can't wait to dabble in Zerg more, but sitting in rank 1 platinum as a Protoss makes it pretty hopeless to play my ~silver/gold Zerg without getting absolutely stomped on.
Anyway, this is literally being printed out in high quality for my desk when that patch does hit. Thanks again.
In return, definitely check out McCanning's Protoss stream. He's got to be the most consistent streamer who constantly explains not only what he's doing, but the logic behind why he's doing it, while playing at a high GM rank. Very entertaining, and it's easily argued that I've improved just by watching him.
https://www.twitch.tv/mcanning
Oh, and if you Follow him while he's streaming, expect him to say thank you for it by name as it happens, even if he's being triple-dropped and losing workers when it happens. His dedication to his audience is ... unparalleled among players as good as him.
Just wanted to say, your SC2 analysis videos and your videos on The Art of War and SC2 have helped me tremendously the past month, both in gameplay and my enjoyment of the game. I started playing in January this year with little RTS experience. For a while I had stagnated a bit in silver, but I managed to improve enough to make it in gold. En route to platinum now.
As for future content, I would love to see some of your thoughts on the proposed balance changes. The values may be subject to change, but they seem dedicated to the general concepts.
Also more memes. Always more memes.
Hi, I just installed sc2gears and I have problems configuring it optimally, right now I just open each replay manually after each game. Do you have any advise as how to configure it properly? Sorry if my question is not directly related to the OP subject. Edit: just found this https://sites.google.com/site/sc2gears/how-to-use-sc2gears which is a good start I guess
I have this bookmarked, it's on OneNote online, I hope the link works. (The only thing I have that uses this :/)
It was posted by another redditer who's name I do not remember (Sorry!). As far as I am aware it is updated regularly/it's an ongoing progress. It has builds for P & T too. Hope this helps.
I highly recommend keeping a document where you record your current build for each matchup and make adjustments to it as you play and lose to different timings, styles, and allins. I would also suggest keeping a simple flowchart of your game plan that branches into different paths depending on what you scout. And lastly, keeping track of your replays and taking notes on them is helpful to include as well.
Having the flow chart and replay list is especially helpful. Keeping track of my key replays helped me deal with ladder anxiety and helped me realise the importance of loses for the learning process! Also, when you are frustrated with a loss, instead of taking it out in chat or on yourself (or your keyboard) it helped me to just add an edgy comment to some replays. It alleviates the tilt instantly lol. As for the flowchart, it makes it easy to organize all your responses for the entirety of the game into a simple graphic.
Here is an example document that I am keeping (this is also how I am learning latex, as I intend to use it for school). I intend to edit it and keep adding to it as I learn to suck less at this game:
https://www.overleaf.com/read/rgfgxfjgvxjc
Also, if you encounter a build that you do not know how to deal with, either post here or go to the allthingszerg discord. This is where I pulled my current response to 2-1-1 from (Thanks McMonroe!). These resources have been nothing but extremely informative and helpful. Keeping a document and seeking out helped has made me make more progress in a week than I did in months of laddering before.
Good luck and have fun!
It's gonna be fine, we will figure it out, we are THE SWARM after all.
I'm disappointed for a different reason: the new season marks a return to the conventional map design. Purity & Industry was a mistake, hands down, but I can't be the only one who had some of the best, most intense, sneakest, up & down battles on The Great Wall.
FWIW all the new maps: https://starcraft2.com/en-us/news/23429408
Ack, cross-post not as detailed as I thought. Here's a summary; see full comments on the original post.
>Start OnTopReplica
>Start Starcraft
>Start a game against AI, pause it
> In OnTopReplica, right-click / Select Window / Starcraft (you may need to be running Starcraft in Windowed mode)
>Right-click / Select Region and roughly pick the upper-right with the minerals, gas, and supply. It doesn't have to be precise...
>You'll now get a zoomed version of the region you selected. You can adjust X,Y and Width, Height to be precise. Once adjusted, click Done.
>You can resize the OnTopReplica window by dragging the corners. You can also click in the middle of the window and move it around the screen. Get it just right with supply right over the existing supply..
>Lastly right-click / Advanced / Enable Click-Through. This will let you hover over supply and see worker count.
>You're good to play! Especially for new players, it really helps to have a much larger view of minerals, gas, supply staring you in the face.

And yeah, I was the same way with lurkers. Had no idea what army comp to build against protoss. Now I rush up to a hydra den and just mass hydra lurker unless I scout heavy adept pressure (in which case, roaches). When the meta shifts back toward disruptors I will have to adjust (hide until vipers are out?) but for now it's open season on chargelot immortal archon balls.
I used wordpress, the website was pretty simple so it was fairly straightforward. They make it easy with limited knowledge of HTML/PHP. Mostly just had to find the right syntax for embedded youtube videos and the rest was just writing everything.
You could also use something like Wix which is even simpler.
Gases before hatchery are very uncommon except if you play allins (or play hatch first). I recommend you playing things like/ 15 Pool, 16 Hatchery, 15 Overlord, 18 Gas into Speed, banenest, Spine, and then choose the techroute or apply pressure first. I am working on a mindmap, This might be helpful once i extend it a bit again. There are possible ways to play ZvZ on it. http://mind42.com/mindmap/532a6107-f78b-4682-9b52-9852062c0703
i use a https://smile.amazon.com/Razer-Tartarus-Progammable-Detachable-Mecha-Membrane/dp/B07754PYFK/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2EB1WDXMUI151&dchild=1&keywords=tartarus+v2&qid=1629424314&sprefix=tartarus%2Caps%2C375&sr=8-1 . its great for me. or also an keyboard with its own software.
Oh good! Than maybe you should revisit some of it's concepts :).
This book is a treasure. Also, some philosophy always help to ease the mind, try reading "The Art of War". Yes, another "art of" book.
Both of those are recommended for people like us - stressed out SC players. We just need to put things in perspective and turn stress into productive energies.
Good luck
