It's always had a ring of truth to me, as Andy Dick has since been treated like a leper and is drinking himself to death. IIRC, Jon Lovitz cold-cocked Andy over it at a bar. Andy Dick is such a pile of shit, that it wouldn't surprise me if it were true.

Another great resource is Masterclasses, I know Judd Apatow has a great series of classes on there. I love to write stand up comedy as well, but I decided on starting off with a series of books of which I just published the first and I'm writing the second now.

Get this book. It’s considered the standard for improv which is the basis for much of what we consider sketch comedy. There are many others but this is the OG.
