I have the book Tales from the New Jersey Devils Locker Room and there's a few interesting stories from behind the scenes. It's nothing serious, but there's a Chico story that's pretty funny. He was driving along route 80 and a cop pulls him over. As he's getting lectured, the cop says he recognizes Chico.
Cop: Don't you play hockey
Chico: Yup
Cop: You're a goalie right?
Chico: Yup
Cop: Chico Resch? Goalie for the New Jersey Devils?
Chico: Yup that's me.
Cop: I've seen you play goal, and you more than anyone else knows what a red light looks like.
That cop was a Rangers fan.
I ORDERED SOME PICKLE SOCKS BECAUSE REASONS ON AMAZON AND THIS BEAUTIFUL DISASTER SHOWED UP IN MY RECOMMENDED ITEMS
like, in and around your b hole wax? or just the cheeks?
also i read a craigslist article about some guy who shaved his ass, and then had to take a long bike ride to work, then walk up a dozen flights of steps. He needed an asshole transplant. im willing to give you a pass on this one if others are.
Actual article for reference

The groupon ones are 8% cotton
My plan is to take it one game at a time the first week or two and see what works. I use an Apple TV and Unlocator (smart DNS service) and this worked for years with NHL TV (among other sports services). But thus far ESPN+ makes no sense. There were like 5-6 games last night and ESPN+ only had two lol.
I have a bad feeling about this, I have no faith in ESPN or the NHL. These blackout restrictions need to die.
I've used Private Internet Access for years. I cut the cord years ago, and used PIA while I lived in Jersey to get around the blackout rules. Then, after moving to PA (Lehigh Valley), I used it to watch playoff games, since you can do that on (Gamecenter, whatever) if you're out of the country, so I'd just log into the Germany node, and I was good to go.
I just moved to Sydney, NSW, so I probably won't need it for hockey games anymore, but it's still a good, reliable, and very inexpensive service, so I'll be holding onto it.
I work in IT, and in school I specialized in network security. Honestly Using Private Internet Access is great. Great speeds when connected and its secure as can be. Its paid, but the subscription covers up to 5 devices using it simultaneously. They have an app for android and iOS. Great to use when banking and during other sensitive communications.
Nothing but good things to say about PIA from me.
Thanks for the PSA
When you use a VPN, you're connecting to another computer/server and routing all your internet traffic through that server. This is helpful because will not allow you to watch games if they are available on local cable. So you connect to a server in Europe, sees that you are in an area that isn't blacked out, and you get served your content.
Private Internet Access is the service I use and it seems to be pretty popular. It's $40 per year.
Nuts indeed, the thing is though that the NHL ESPN+ deal is only available in the US. If you try to connect from a location outside the US to ESPN+, it'll fail.
Here's what Unlocator says:
>MLB and ESPN + uses the same streaming network. Since we send MLBlocation check outside the US to avoid blackouts then it breaks accessto ESPN+. In order to change that you need to log in to your Unlocatoraccount and go to region settings and set MLB/ESPN+ region to US. Thisbreaks MLB blackout unblocking but gives you access to ESPN+. You canalways change back.
That's why I'm dubious about it working.
I subscribed to ESPN+ last night and saw tonight's Isles game had a blackout tag on the thumbnail. I forgot my VPN (ExpressVPN) was off. Once I turned it on and logged back into ESPN+, the blackout tag was gone. I won't know for sure until I test it tonight, but looking like it will work.
I'm using a Firestick with the ExpressVPN app.
I use NordVPN and select a NY able to watch that first prospect tournament game without blackout issues. If you don't need a constant VPN service, they will issue a full refund in the first 30 days.
Posted this comment in the /r/hockey thread:
>Goddammit, the game is on CBC in Canada and NHL Network in the US so I can't use TunnelBear to get around GameCenter's retarded blackouts. Anyone have a working alternative?
Anyone here got a way to help me?
Edit: Anyone else having my problem, the guy who posted the thread in /r/hockey posted a link to an official stream on .
Reddit is the 9th most popular site in the country (US, it's 13th in canada and 26th worldwide)...You kind of have to be silly to think anyone of the younger generation wouldn't be aware of this site.
Anyone see Marty's new pads? They are pretty sweet. Old school. And the cursed MB30 logo is now in the background of it!
https://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/pages/martinbrodeur30com/113935718684338
It was drums and violins when Marty told the story in his book, but stories like that probably evolved like a game of telephone. Wouldn't be surprised if it was tubas and flutes in the original version.
I'm going to go make some turkey chili, which means I need to finagle a tv near the kitchen so I can watch as I cook.
Unfortunately, this means that my hard-hitting analytical hockey commentary is going to have to wait.
In the meantime, please follow http://www.espn.com/hockeyandothercoldsports and anything with "Eklund" in the name.
Thanks for the shoutout!
Two other Devils podcasts that come to mind are:
-Running with the Devils Soundcloud
-HAD Podcast Podomatic
Keep up the fantastic work!
If you're in-market you'd have to try connecting to a VPN so ESPN+ thinks you're in another market. ProtonVPN and ExpressVPN seemed most promising last time I looked into it, ESPN is supposedly good at blocking VPNs
adidas is $190. Sorry i wasnt clear on that but i meant to put "spend $60 extra compared to the fanatics" If your budget is 60-70 you can only buy a reebok so i recommend going going to ebay and buying from trusted sellers(you can check r/hockeyjerseys for trusted sellers) or buying it online but you might not get as good a deal. Heres one on amazon that fits your price point https://www.amazon.com/NHL-Jersey-Devils-Premier-Medium/dp/B00117FHUY/ref=sr_1_18?s=fan-shop&ie=UTF8&qid=1515016341&sr=1-18
Boogie Board Tablet I use it to take notes/tasks I have during the day
What VPN do you use? I’m in Mercer county and ESPN+ considers me part of Philly and NY areas and blacks out all those games, and I have YTTV which considers me Philly market and doesn’t have NHL Network.
I currently have Mullvad VPN but even when I change my location ESPN+ still blacks out all NY/Philly games, even though my IP address is clearly out of market. So frustrating.
In market ESPN+ / VPN user here. Already had Disney+ so adding ESPN was only $7/month. I went with NordVPN cause they have a firestick app, mobile app, desktop app and Firefox extension. Has been the best investment into my hockey entertainment after years of sailing the high seas. I just got tired of the terrible stream quality on my TV and decided to pull the trigger this year.
I've been doing ESPN+ and Smart DNS Proxy service for the last couple of years, streaming it through my TCL Roku TV. Paying about $80 for the whole year for the ESPN+ and Proxy subscription. Was doing for about 3 years before ESPN+ picked up the rights, that was about $50 more expensive.
I don’t have any experience with this, but so long as you use a reputable VPN company, this is probably the way to go. ESPN+ is honestly a great product, and I’m kind of kicking myself for not remembering to get the full year before they raised it. But even now, it’s honestly worth every penny for everything I watch. NordVPN seems to be a solid option.
Finding a stream somewhere is the cheapest but you run the risk of a virus or disconnections. The easiest and most reliable is just to use ESPN+ and a VPN… I have the Disney, Hulu, ESPN bundle and it’s very worth it for me and I use NordVPN and set my location to somewhere in the country that’s in neither teams market for the game. A word of advice though, don’t go on ESPN until you’ve already selected your VPN location and connected or it’ll still blackout the game, even from an hour or two earlier. If you do, you’ll need to clear your Cache and Cookies in your browser because it’ll remember your last location
If you have Verizon Wireless, get a plan that includes the Disney bundle, this should be give you ESPN+ (and Disney+ and Hulu) for “free”. Get an Amazon fire stick, chrome cast, whatever and buy a VPN subscription, I use NordVPN it’s like $0.89/month. Set the VPN to another city in the US, and boom you’re “legally” watching out-of-market devils games.
Or, sail the high seas.
I have used Private Internet Access to watch Yankee games on mlb, it has an app on the Play store and Apple so you can watch it on smart devices like a nvidia shield. There are dozens of locations inside or outside the US to connect to.
Pricing for the vpn is around $30-$40 a year depending if you do a bundle deal. I think I subscribed to it a few years ago for like $33 a year and it's just been a recurring charge of the same price for I don't know how long already.

Rather than spend hours trying to explain it, you can listen to it here. Vasa is the Swedish word for Vaasa, so it's a rather different pronunciation, but 'vasa' in Finnish means 'calf' (the baby animal) and it's just, well, shorter first syllable. As for Ä, it's a bit like a sheep's "Baah!" if you will.
O is just O like in "oh" but Ö sounds similar to the first sound in "err" (like when you're thinking of something to say).
Swedish is also an official language in Finland, so that's why we have Å in our alphabet. There aren't any Finnish words that use it. We call it "Swedish O" which is how it most often is pronounced.
The rules themselves are quite simple, as there is only way to pronounce each word and each letter.
You can find the names of most famous Finnish players there too, if you're curious. When Americans say Jari Kurri, it sounds like "Järy Khury" to us.
99% of websites are totally fine as long as you don't go around clicking on ads and downloading and running random crap. These streaming websites are usually full of ads. I highly recommend you look into AdBlock Plus -- no more ads anywhere!
I am able to get it to work on both my PC and on my AndroidTV with ExpressVPN. I just connected to the D.C. location, and then tried it. On PC I kept seeing it say blackout, but I still got the Rangers game going the other day.
Don't have any pics of it in action, but this is what it was. https://www.amazon.com/Vuvuzela-Stadium-Horn-Collapsible-RED/dp/B07771X51D purposely got it cheap in case this happened.
All y'all talking about the blackout.
Seriously invest in a VPN.
I personally use Private Internet Access. I use it for stuff like that, to get around my works filter on wifi, etc. I can't speak for privacy but they claim to not keep logs, so idk if it's a good choice if privacy is what you want. But honestly I can't say enough how useful it's been last few years and I'm happy to pay $40 a year for it for general use it's great. Also has good mobile apps that are easy to use.
