Looks good. If you're going with sand stone though I don't think you want to dry brush on a highlight. If you look at old sand stone buildings they usually go darker at the edges and even start greening on the upper most most weathered extremities.

I feel like you need a lot more light terrain in the middle. This is a setup of my usual boards. This is for Loot and Salvage.

as a guy who owns both FDM and resin printers. Failures with good machines are not that often, especially not on warhammer scale stuff. If you buy a cheap 3d printer, expect to fiddle with it quite a lot.
I can recommend an Elegoo Mars 2 Pro Mono for your warhammer and terrain needs!
I just upgraded my 2 Mars' to a Saturn myself!
I can add another 11 dollars to it no problem. I had just gotten this gift card and didn’t know what I could get with it. Is this a good deal?

Actually you can see the replays of the whole weekend at https://dlive.tv/killteamacademy (If in a regular web-browser) Although I am still going to try and put them up on YouTube for more permanent viewing.
Welcome to killteam!
With the Start Collecting box, you can field the Kabalites but not the Archon (yet! Probably soon, when the Commander expansion comes out).
With the Kabalites, you’re going to want to make a decision: are you going to field a team from just that box, or are you going to buy a box of wyches ( https://www.amazon.com/Games-Workshop-Warhammer-Wyches-Miniatures/dp/B004AG1HPM/ref=mp_s_a_1_1 ) to accompany them?
If you want to field JUST the Kabalites, you will want to assemble them as something like Sybarite (with agonizer and blast pistol and Phantasm Grenade Launcher), kabalite gunner with Dark Lance, kabalite gunner with Blaster, and 7 kabalite warriors. That’ll get you to 85 points, which is lower than the 100 point max, but the most you can get from one box.
If you want to field both kabalites and wyches, you’ll want to assemble the kabalites to give you more options. Sybarite with agonizer and blast pistol, a regular kabalite warrior who can pass for a Sybarite with a splinter rifle, 4 kabalite gunners with one of these weapons each (dark lance, splinter cannon, blaster, shredder), and 4 regular kabalite warriors. You’d only be able to field a team of 71 points with those models (treating the second sybarite as a generic warrior), but adding in a box of wyches and you’ll be good to go in no time!
Kabalite warriors are solid in kill team but their special weapons - dark lance, blaster, and splinter cannon in particular - are scary good. You’ll want to use regular warriors to secure objectives while your special weapons gunners do work murderizing your opponents.
Wyches are wet tissue paper in ranged combat and insane serial killers who are surprisingly tanky in melee combat. They’re fast, they kill things fast, they die fast. Great fun to play.
Thank you! They’re these desk lamps I got from Amazon. Feel free to! I love setting up terrain and changing things up.
Yeah they're magnetised, each one has a 5mm/6mm by 2 mm neodymium magnet in the base and the tray is lined with 0.85mm magnetic sheet.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B017UR0A1O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_BK8T3MJG1FY26G2V4A43?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 that's the 0.85mm magnetic sheet I used, and I the magnets in the model bases are 2mm by 6mm neodymium. 👍
Thanks!
Some of them are Armegeddon Dust washed with Reikland Fleshshade, then dry brushed with zandri dust. The tzaangors with the two blades have that method, as does the marine with the heavy weapon.
What I've started using is real sand. Looks better imo and way quicker.
All I use is Armageddon Dust spread thinly with an old brush over the base. Then while that is still wet I hold the model by the head and dip the base in some modelling sand.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01IPHEKMS?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I find the wetness of the Armageddon Dust makes little clumps in the sand, and sticks it all down really well.
I used ivory colored ones of these
Sorry for the ugly link, on mobile.
Used some old x wing flight pegs + some acrylic little tripod thingeys from litko. I like the bases tho, I have a bazillion square bases, a good use for em is always appreciated
I agree fully with the "too bright" LED statement. LED's should add to the model, not distract from it.
When I was shopping around the 12ml jars from MG Chemical were outrageously expensive, whereas the 150ml jars would be very reasonable. This is the exact item I ordered on Amazon, the 150ml jar is only double the cost of a 12ml jar. So the price per ML goes down drastically. I've personally done 14 bloodletters and one Skulltaker, and have used about 30ml of the stuff so far.
This one is great. Plenty of room for at least three teams.
After seeing this thread and since I really need to build my Harly team I thought I'd steal this idea. I was going to use the tutorial on Rabid Dog Studios Patreon page since it looks like it's just plain lava and the pillar would be sinking in, check you his instagram for an idea of what it looks like.
But basically its a bright yellow basecoat, then drybrush orange, then working your way up to a red going lighter and lighter on the drybrushing until the top layer is black. Looks like cooling lava, I used this to get the look of the lava. I have a test base I did just to try it out I can take a picture if you would like
Edit: Here's a picture from his Instagram for inspiration
I use accessory boxes like this https://www.amazon.es/gp/product/B0192PLKSO
I have a few different sizes where I can put 3 or 4 kill teams per box and a smaller one where I can fit one kill team.
Everything was purchased at a local hardware store. And the shelf holder is a 3D print. Here is my model for print Tinkercad model (cut in half because od small printer), those shelfs are 3mm thick plates with magnetic foil on top, and suitcase is here Kreator KRT640106S
Could even do it with a similar zip-up hardcase, such as these (which are absolutely awful for their intended use with TCGs).
I'm currently storing Citadel paints inside mine or at least a similar case, but about 2.75 inches (7cm) is the maximum height for a mini. The dividers are velcro, and easily removed, but could be useful for carrying taller minis vertically or organising other gaming bits.

Oh yeahhh I hear ya. I think Payne's would give a lovely, 'colder' hue perfect for Necrons! I really gotta give this a try. My dilemna is I have forced myself to not be allowed to paint until I:
I'm a lazy sod lol.
I feel you! I don't have cerebral palsy but my hands get really shaky and I get frustrated sometimes. can I offer some advice?
I'd start by switching to Tamiya Extra Thin Cement instead of superglue if you don't already use it. It wont stick to your fingers the way superglue will and gives you a lot of time to adjust the piece. When it says thin, it means it! I actually add extra pieces of sprue to my bottle which makes the liquid thicker and easier to work with.
I also wonder if you have a GW store or another local game store you could hang out in to build models together? I don't know about you guys, but building is my favorite part, so if I went to game store and saw that they had regular building sessions, I'd be jazzed! I'll bet people would be happy to help you with the teeny pieces if you struggle with them
I'm not very good at tutorials, it's basically about hollowing out the miniature and drilling out the eyes. Use a drop of hot glue to affix the led in the head making sure it is pointing out. Snake the wires down the figure out the foot through the base and solder the led to the battery holder. These are the led and battery holder I used. You can probably buy them from somewhere other than Amazon.

Is that tile board in a particular Necromnunda set, and is it easy-ish to obtain? Because I'm honestly swinging more in favor of Necromunda since it looks tile based as I'm a big fan of AP like strategy games akin to XCOM.
My son and I were playing a version of "Space Hulk" last night using his magnet-tile toy thingies (these to be exact), and it was surprisingly fun. Love to actually build something of the like.
still for sale in american store. Sometimes this happens where things say you can buy them when you can. But like others said you can get them later probably.or theres always amazon.
sand them down smooth. the new bases are just painted on or cut into a little. necromunda bases have some depth.

You can find tournaments in your area here: https://web.bestcoastpairings.com
At the very least you can attend/watch and see if the shop has any routine game nights set up, even if you don’t play. Sort of get into the community. That being said I’d encourage you to play as well!
There is also this tool https://padlet.com/DiggaAl/KillTeamPlayerLocator
Facebook groups, unfortunately, are still pretty prevalent. Check around there are a few discord groups for my local area, maybe yours does as well? Glass half dead’s discord is relatively large and does have a trying to find game area.
You can also consider playing KT online via tabletop simulator (TTS). Command Point and Killzone have lots of online matches happening all the time and a few online tournaments.
I also need to replace my normal brushes, what do you think of the Mega Set? Also what do you use to clean them? Water?
Cheers!
I used one of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07P6HXKCJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Pathfinders are currently top-tier in the Kill Team meta, so they'd be a good entry point for you.
If you're trying to get in on the cheap, you can make a competitive list from the Pathfinder box alone, though you won't have the extra bits necessary to visually differentiate your various specialists.
However, if you were looking to "save money" with the Combat Patrol, you should just go ahead and buy Chalnath box. Not only will it provide you with everything you need to field a great Pathfinder list, but the other team contained in the box (Novitiates) is also top tier, and you'll get some solid terrain to boot.
https://www.amazon.com/Navaris-Framed-Magnetic-Cork-Board/dp/B097T9DCLD/
After seeing this post, I’m thinking of trying this “magnetic cork board” out. It’s a bit large for KT, but that just means I’ll have some “staging area” around the play area
I usually buy this Magnetic sheets: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Magnetic-Sheets-Adhesive-0-85mm-Thick/dp/B074V8SBPK?pd_rd_w=81sXJ&pf_rd_p=93639d66-4333-47a2-9afc-2b6ef148d92c&pf_rd_r=RDPE1X04ZMM43HN70HXE&pd_rd_r=d9f7217c-7974-4229-8da5-c3b7d360ccdd&pd_rd_wg=onVUO&pd...
Paired with the right size of neodymium magnets they hold incredibly well.
I also had the same problem with magnetic sheets being too weak, so I went to my local hardware store and bought a sheet of galvanized steel ducting and a heavy-duty handheld cutter.
Much stronger magnetic holding, cut to size. Highly recommend.
This one's from the 80's, but you can find all kinds of drafting tables

Hey man - I know your feel. Although I'm located in Dresden and can't help you directly, the Kill Team Player Locator might be able to help you find some folks.
So its not one actual brand its a standard brush set sold on amazon by different companies but essentially they are all the same . You can tell by the handle/bristles and the silver cap. I'll give a link on amazon but pretty much look for the most affordable priced ones with the same design. there's a lot of companies up-marking them for profit. I usually go with the golden maple version they are usually better made.
Try a paste like maybe https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0044LDRGU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 but in fact this is just likely sand and gravel or some other substrate, just a different one to whatever you're currently using. I don't think it's a GW technical. Why do you want this specific texture btw?
There are transfers for the ork and Kreig guys I the octarius box.
The brush cleaners well worth it for looking after nice brushes. One pot will probably last many years.

Not being snarky. I've got a 12 inch clear ruler in my TT wargaming collection.
For brushes, I highly recommend picking up a cheap set of synthetic brushes with a sharp point, just to get a feel for the brushwork and so that when you eventually get a more expensive natural hair/sable brush, you don't ruin the brush quickly. Do eventually move to natural hair brush, especially if you will be working with a lot of details.
For paints, if you follow the GW paint guides (on box or Youtube), you can get pretty good looking results, but it'll be quite expensive trying to get multiple shades of the same colors. Really depends on what your color schemes will be for which paints to get, though I would recommend picking up a basic color set like Vallejo just so you have a decent variety to start with.
I don’t know how to say it in English, so I can link the material from my pasta amazon: Vetrineinrete® Nastro a rete in fibra di vetro adesivo flessibile rinforzo per intonaco giunti e cartongesso anti crepe da 70 45 e 20 metri x 5cm (70 metri) C51 https://www.amazon.it/dp/B07H5PWZVM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_REGY1D71MBBNYVAFPDJ4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1. Every net will be ok. Attack it, then prime the entire miniature then use leadbelcher and rust effect or bronze effect, then oxide effect 😬
I assume you mean these? LINK
Oh duh, that’s so simple and smart! I can’t believe I never thought of that. Going to pick some up today, I need to run some errands anyway.
Here is what I used. Used the corners to apply.
I got this one Link
It's a mobile, battery-powered unit (compressor included). Of course its not a "good" air brush, but just for some priming its just good enough...
Bodies I can swin in, it's legs that I'm missing. Already build a squad of "Canned Kommandos" using these but I might just make another squad (but I already have 12 Kommandos and will add the 10 from Octarius so that might get into the "too many" territory.
Looks like he's obscured since he's more than 2" away from that heavy terrain, and you're not within 1" of the heavy terrain, and the cover line crosses from your most beneficial point of your base to all points of his base.
I'd recommend checking out Casematix hard-side pluck-foam cases (Amazon link here](https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B086MGDYZL/)). I bought some with air travel in mind, and though I've only used them as carry on, I would not hesitate to check them if I had too. The latching mechanisms even have holes for TSA-compliant locks.
Good luck on your travels!
And blue background
Another commenter said they were just different edition printings, so I assume that shouldn't matter for kill team.
I believe what you want is Calibre. It allows you to change the format of your ebooks. It's been a number of years since I used it, but I think you can convert them to another format, including PDF, which should be printable.
Like I said, it's been a number of years since I used it, but it is free so worth checking out.
Thought it might of been a certain someone's when I saw that spiral binding.
May I introduce you to Photos an by Google Image for future releases. It will make nice and crisp versions to share.
I still need to find a place locally who will do good spiral binding.
aight, parchment paper. cool 👉🏽👉🏽
you can use any sort of kitchen sponge, if you have any to spare at home you're already making good headway lol.
what I used to do was use one of these containers that I bought from a CVS pharmacy in my town, https://www.amazon.com/Sistema-Ounce-Storage-Container-Colors/dp/B00BQGS09A
I cut a kitchen sponge in half and placed each half in the tubs in the container above. ideally you would have a container that could fit a whole sponge but I couldn't find one at the time but hey, it still worked!
idk if it makes a difference or not but I peeled the scrubby layer off my sponge too.
The Exalted Sorcerer kit(linked below) has 2 of them and parts to make 3 sorcerers w/plenty of leftover bits. It doesn’t have a warflame pistol tho, need a box of rubric marines for that. The new warpcoven team is the only team right now that pretty much requires 3 boxes, though you can still technically get away with just a box of rubric marines but you’d be pretty gimped
To build the miniatures:
For painting obviously whatever colors you need plus spray primer. Prime them outdoors on a piece of cardboard or in a box on its side and make sure it’s not too humid when you do. Just a thin coat over every face of the figure.
Brushes I’d start with just a medium and a small detail brush.
For paints Citadel (Games Workshop)’s are good but more expensive and the pots have lids that are easy to accidentally not close. A lot of people like Vallejo as an alternative.
There are lots and lots of extras you can just keep spending money on (brushes, a wet palette, brush soap, and so on). Two I’ll throw out for “next steps” are a painting handle from GW which makes holding the mini much easier, and their water cup. You can just use a mug, of course; just pick something a big heavy and/or wider at the base so you don’t tip it over.
Look at the Warhammer YouTube channel for good painting tutorials. You’ll find lots of food channels around.
I gotta warn you, molding your own models is a blast, and terribly addictive.
I HIGHLY recommend this set:

Then write on it with a fine tip dry erase marker.
I don’t like dice on the table, and I like having the wounds be easily visible to your opponent so I don’t like laminated cards, so this works perfectly!
Thanks! I used black Vallejo that i got off of Amazon . I have a bottle of white too, so I’ll try that on the next model—thanks for the tip!
The purple is Army Painter Alien Purple.
And thanks! I primed the Daemon conversion but haven’t started painting it yet, juuust a bit intimidated by it haha
A file would do it, the pewter metal of older minis is pretty soft. I have an army painter set or here's a tamiya one. This is a kit I found on Amazon UK. Otherwise there appear to be plenty on eBay.
I got them from Amazon - clear bases
These can be found on ebay as well with a quick search.
I found this at my local Toys R Us (SEA) and decided to give it a go since it was 50% off and I needed a cheap way to fill up a KT board quickly. As you can see, my uninspired configurations gave me enough LoS blocking terrain to put together five different buildings. A break down of the playset, my evaluation and an Amazon link can be found below.

Overall thoughts
In my opinion, you get a lot of terrain for your dollar despite the obvious issues, and most of which can be easily rectified with a little bit of work. I've used them for a handful of quick games like Infinity and KT, and so far, my friends and I have been pleased with how the terrain has performed.
Here's an Amazon link for those of you interested.
Used this magnetic paper,
And these magnets in the bases.
I'm doing a box for my whole army at some point, so I got a lot of magnets , but it works nicely.
I have used https://www.amazon.com/Plano-131250-1312-Ammo-Box/dp/B005IURN5M/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1547517283&sr=8-6&keywords=ammo+case And then hacked some pluck foam to fit inside.
Monoprice also has hard shell cases https://www.monoprice.com/category?c_id=117&cp_id=11703
I would check the item description - some come with pluck foam, others do not.
For my deathwatch army, I used a semi-hard shell case I got off an Amazon 50-1 GoPro accessory kit. Removed the foam from the inside and cut a pluck foam insert.
If you're happy with the actual Feldherr case, I'd suggest just buying some pluck foam, cutting it to fit, and then pulling the foam until you have the perfect fit for your minis.
Dunno about UK, but its on amazon. Apparently its just called clear coat there... https://www.amazon.com/Testors-Spray-Lacquer-Clear-Coat/dp/B009FF6DN4/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=testors+dullcote&qid=1559945343&s=gateway&sr=8-2
I bought these dots on Amazon back when I was playing SWA, and they work just as well for KillTeams. Put stickers on the front and back of the base and another sticker on the corresponding data card. "I'm firing at the blue sticker guy with my gold sticker guy" is a lot easier than "Ulrakk Thrakka is firing at Bj'ulla H'varticheese" especially for newcomers.
Outus Color Coding Labels Dot Stickers Round Circle Stickers, 16 Sheets, 6528 Pieces in Total https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06VYJ4DMZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_mvdIDbN4FRH18
Go for companion app for kill team! :) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lehtimaeki.digitaldatacards&hl=en It's MILES better in my opinion, plus the option to upload photos of your minis? gorgeous.
Still a few boxes available in the US.
I modeled mine from old Renegade Militia models, some catachans with beastmen heads and some Arco-Flagellants.
They are a hard faction to play because of their general lack of AP but they can be real fun in friendly games. I’ve beat Grey Knights with them so there is that.
I have been using these for the shoulders https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079NKN7HF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Y1PlFbPJYRZ02
I find that they have really good strength for their size which is awesome. I tried smaller ones before but they were too weak. The arms just kept falling off or wont stay in the pose I wanted.
If you're referring to this starter set, the components and terrain are decent for modelling and gaming but the actual units themselves are some of the weaker ones performance wise in KT. My LGS manager recommends finding an army that you like and going from there based on what you see as either the most economical or most efficient units from the data sheets in the core rule book.
As many others have said here, Vallejo and Army Painter are good alternative acrylics to GW paints and usually at lower costs too. Vallejo also has a solid array of texture paints at much more reasonable prices and much larger quantities compared to GW whilst Army Painter has a nice and diverse array of shrubs and other vegetation add ons for your bases at a more affordable price.
If you need a decent brush cleaner, rubbing alcohol is a pretty decent and cheap alternative depending on where you are. I typically flush my brushes in a pot of water first and then the alcohol before dabbing them off. Keeps the bristles nice and paint free.
Here's a great video by an excellent painter on what to know before starting on your mini painting journey.
Here it is. They've got different colors, but black was the cheapest option at the time, and I knew I'd paint over it.
Here is a box with the full Servants of the Abyss roster for only $34.00 on Amazon. I'd snap it up quick. These models are out of production now. This is basically only the bad guy models from the Blackstone Fortress boxed game.
Servants aren't a great faction but IMO they are the most versatile (besides Astartes I guess but they don't really count with their like 120 different models). You get access to psykers which are very rare in Kill Team and are the perfect solution to those horribly tanky ogrens. You get access to Negavolt Cultists, who are basically budget Electropriests and can cause mortal wounds on the charge - another excellent way to get rid of those tanky ogryns. You get Beastmen, who are super cheap and absolutely savage in melee.

The kinda good news is that for some reason the Servants box only has 7 Cultists in it which may have not been enough for a kill team, and now you'll definitely be in good shape. Maybe see if anyone you play with has a spare Chaos Space Marine they'd be willing to give you to serve as a second Black Legionaire - your cultists will be worthless due to morale tests without one.

Oh yeah!!! Thanks!!! You can get them on Amazon for super cheap. Here is a link if ya wanna save it. I do cut them down to fit the KT map size recommended in the core book.
But yeah, and I've got 4 others that I switch out as needed for whatever game we're trying to do. I usually make them off of a theme for our story.
I think he got them from amazon and painted them.
something like that...his appears to be paper/card stock though.
Not my auction, but a good example of what you can get off of Ebay.
The other thing would be to check and see, if you're willing to invest, if there's a Kill Team themed Terrain Kit around. Sector Sanctoris is the only Kill Team Terrain Kit available that isn't absurdly Out Of Print and overpriced.
This may change or a hot minute, as the Games Workshop retail outlets got a Kill Team "Pull Order" for the sets that have been around for a year, so some more Terrain Kits may become available online.
I use a binder with the cards loaded into plastic sheets.
I use these for the smaller cards: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004QO5KLK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I use these for the bigger terrain cards: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003AOK3O6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Both of these fit the cards perfectly and I just stick the plastic sheets in a binder I carry with me and grab what I need when it comes time to game.
I purchased some from amazon for around 10 dollars and they seemed to be just fine for moving and storing miniatures. (I didnt end up using them) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076JNCQ39/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Spray lacquer to protect your mini and tone down anything shiny. If there are things you want shiny on the model, hit them with Ardcoat after spraying them.

I use Golden brand. It's pretty cheap.
This bottle from amazon will last a while!
Stage a fashionable protest ?
I play Deathwatch so don't need to bring too many minis. So I got this Feldherr case. Holds plenty and has a zipper pocket inside for some dice or what have you. They got a bunch of different sizes and some inexpensive storage boxes, too.
I wouldn't worry about pinning them, the models aren't large enough to really be a problem provided you're using a decent super glue. I got burned a while back with the Citadel/GW-brand glue and have been a convert of Bob Smith Industries glue ever since (the bottle looks like this).
I would give some thought to magnetizing the warriors though. One venom cannon can probably be glued in, but I suspect you'll want options and variety for the other weapons/models. Magnetizing Warrior arms isn't too difficult and can save you a fair bit of time (compared to painting a whole model with each of the options).
Does it have slots for the larger cards? It are the larger cards also on the smaller cards (I've never actually used the cards)

Yes. I used Krylon ultra flat camo spray paint. Rustoleum also makes a good camo primer that’s around $4. I picked the sand color. (Light brown). It’s a little darker than the recommended Citadel Zandei Dust Spray. It saved me time & money by priming and base coating at the same time.
Having a darker primer will work well for shadows and recessed areas. Probably save you on the amount of Agrax Earthshade wash. Shoot me a picture when your done. I would love to see it.
It was one of these except I took the hook out of the bottom so it can stand up. I bought mine at Hobby Lobby.
It was really useful for a while because I would mount small parts on toothpicks and the jaws could hold onto it, though I've since moved on to using wire and cork with quarters glued to the bottom as a stabilizer/weight.
The best use I have for the Kumi weight now is making it hold on to a jewelry file that has a bunch of magnetized arms attached to it for priming.
Something like this or smaller. Magnets on the bases. This is how store and transport all my armies.
Used Vallejo gray pumice to make the base look like lava, basecoated gray (should have done white.. but I forgot), then did a bright yellow, used a yellow glaze, after it was dry moved from did a drybrush of fire dragon, then trollslayer, mephiston red, khorne red, then final drybrush on the very top with abbadon black where the lava cools more.
I think this would work nicely for what you are trying to do: https://www.amazon.com/Warhammer-40-000-Essentials-Set/dp/B073X5VTCM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1533596207&sr=8-2&keywords=citadel+essentials. It comes with a brush too. Just make sure to pick up some spray primer from Menards, Walmart, etc.
