A part of me wants to say this points towards WB actually in legitimate talks with a network.
Another part of me notices the artwork in the original "Final" DVD box was a different shade. Strange for two official cases to be in two different shades.
HOWEVER, Amazon originally listed it as "Lucifer: Season 3" as of two days ago when I checked. Now it is changed to "Lucifer: The Third and Final Season". So, at least, at some point the official title was "Third and Final Season". However, amazon doesn't have a cover picture so we dont know if that has changed and not been updated yet or what.
Interestingly enough, Walmart has recently added it as only "Lucifer: The Complete Third Season".
Too many reasons to type them all, but I'll say probably my "favorite" reason to hate it:
Because what Lucifer desired most is to be a good father and to raise his child with Chloe, and the writers took it from him for the worst reason possible.
That reason being Lucifer and Chloe putting the wishes of their adult, clearly in pain, traumatized child above the 49 years of wishes of their as of 6.10 yet unborn, innocent baby, because ONLY that pain and trauma of Lucifer's absence will make her grow up hating him, angry at him so much that she time travels to kill him, and then after spending 3 weeks with them in the past asks them to do it to her, therefore her request is the reason for her own trauma (one timeline scenario) /or she dooms another version of herself to a fatherless childhood (multiverse scenario,) and Chloe has to carry out that request - watch her baby girl suffer and cry for her father until she grows to hate him and herself and turns into a lost soul that needs saving and finally time travels. And that is by definition child abuse.
And that's what they turned Lucifer and Chloe into (on purpose, read this collection of quotes from the showrunners/writers.)
As for the souls, they would've realized it anyway, that's what "calling" means. And Lucifer wanted to reform the system/Hell back in s5.
Your wish is my command! https://archiveofourown.org/works/12599528/chapters/28698916
The first chapter is fluff (Chloe & Lucifer on a date) and from then on it gets into the really good stuff. The story isn't finished yet, but it looks like there might be an update this month or next.
I have parent-child-separation issues and after so much healing on that point through seasons 5 & 6, literally causing a deliberate abandonment was too much for me. In case it helps, here's the edits I did on the ending showing how it could have been (in case you don't see the other comments):

I like it because Lucifer and Chloe are very true to canon as far as characterization goes (at least, more than any other fic I've tried to read), and the author does a good job at exploring Lucifer's thoughts about his wings. He's vulnerable without necessarily coming off as weak, if that makes sense? It has some funny lines too, and some really satisfying nods to just how insanely powerful Lucifer actually is.
Do you have any recs? I'm desperate for more Lucifer ficsssss :D
gonna need to give us a the region youre in. Its on Hulu in the US. Amazon prime in the uk.
you can always check Justwatch to find out where you can (legally) stream any tv show or movie. Just select your Region and then search for Lucifer
What? She's exactly supposed to be Death of the Endless. She's straight out of the Lucifer comic book. That's where this was all pulled from.
If you want a good but closed introduction to the character, I suggest reading the manga comic Death: At Death's Door, which takes place alongside Sandman's Season of Mist (right after Lucifer kicked everyone out of hell and then left, because screw you, dad). It's a very different art style but it's a closed introduction to Death of the Endless. It's kind of what she reminded me of.

We're receiving some wonderful feedback regarding a song of ours which featured tonight on an episode of 'Lucifer'. 'When your Heart is a Stranger' is the first single from our forthcoming debut EP which is at present unreleased. We will be learning full details of its release this week and as soon as we have the dates we'll share them here. Thanks so much.

Share these links with your friend, hopefully this might help fix some of the awful memory the ending gave her of season 6. (posting these in comments to a few videos because I don't know how long they last)

Everything you just said is everything I felt while watching the long-drawn-out tragedy of the ending. I posted links in another comment already, but you put what I was thinking so much better than I could.
I made my own edits for myself to enjoy the ending they all deserved, and posted it a couple of places to share for others who felt the same way, for as long as these last: internet archive so you can download: https://archive.org/details/lucifer-deckerstar-season-6-finale-the-good-ending

We're live tweeting tonight during the finale.
Here's some info on the time we're starting.
If you can't be up at that time, you can schedule tweets using Tweetdeck.
With NordVPN it should actually work. But you have to stop the Netflix app in the settings before, so that it restarts when you open it... Maybe that's the same with your VPN service too? Have you tried this before?
I agree that the DVD cover change is probably WB just covering their bases (And Amazon still lists it with the original cover). However, the IMDB change seems odd as they have no reason to change it. The Amazon reply is iffy at best but it also seems weird amazon is now showing Lucifer has being an exclusive in the US since it has never been on Amazon Prime in the US before. Of course, that is iffy too since I can't actually find it on my side and the image itself has been altered.
If you're on Android (might be in iOS too, I'm not sure though) there's an app called TV Time https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tozelabs.tvshowtime and its good for keeping track of when episodes are airing and which ones you've seen.
Or SoundHound or Sound Search by Google.
Because the writers were afraid to put god in the wrong about anything and also terrible writing. There's an FAQ wiki with the show runners answers to your questions.

Although fair warning reading may make you more angry at the show runners.

A bootstrap loop is a paradox by definition: it happens because it has always happened, causing itself. That’s what that word means, and it implies that everything that happens in the loop is inescapable and fated - ie, it’s a deterministic look at time travel. Not sure why you’re combating that definition when you’re actually trying to argue that it’s not a bootstrap loop, which is your prerogative but not what the writers have said about the topic.
>Breaking the loop would’ve resulted in Rory ceasing to exist.
Considering the timing of the pregnancy test, Chloe was likely already pregnant when Rory arrived. Even Rory herself only requests Lucifer not ‚change’ her, meaning that she would have been born either way.
And that’s without taking into account that in a ‚many worlds’ version of time travel (as opposed to bootstrap/one-timeline), which is supported by season 3’s ‚Once Upon A Time’ episode, both adult future Rory-from-the-old-timeline and a new baby Rory-from-the-new-timeline could coexist.
Sure thing! u/matchstick_dolly compiled a great s6 FAQs that includes interview inserts & provides links to the original in full too:
https://hackmd.io/@matchstickdolly/lucifer-s6-faq
Definitely browse through the sub for, like, the last year? 😂
> Other than the Rory plot line and chloe acting way out of character, I liked the ending.
If I don't like the main plot of a season and think one of the two lead characters is acting extremely OOC...I think that's a really bad season. A good ending can rarely fix something so narratively catastrophic for me. But I also don't feel that slapping a rictal smile on a system of torment and child abandonment is a good ending. It just doesn't work for me.
> I like knowing that chloe and Lucifer ended up in hell together.
What does Chloe do in Hell? She can't leave without someone else physically moving her. She can't speak every language as to help with all the souls—most of the souls—they'll encounter. She can't alter Hell loops herself. I guess she just looks pretty and provides emotional support sex? They don't even make her a queen. She, of course, has zero trauma after being trapped by her uterus in a nightmare scenario that separated her from her partner for 50 years all so she could raise a child in lies. Something-something stronk woman abandoned by man to do Real Work, as God willed.
Just within the context of the show, I think it's poorly done from top to bottom, especially thematically. And that's before one gets into the showrunner interviews...
Because the season was a love letter to the writers not the fans, so we got Joe making Lucifer a therapist because of his mom. Freud would probably say something about an Oedipus complex being involved considering Lucifer and Linda's relationship.
Interviews they've done. There is an entertainment weekly video with Joe, Ildy, Lauren and Tom you can find on YouTube. Other interview suggestions should show up once you watch. And a Lucifer Redditor made a wiki of all their print interviews here: https://hackmd.io/@matchstickdolly/lucifer-s6-faq.
If you want to know why things are the way they are, there's a lot revealed in interviews from the showrunners and writers. I compiled a wiki. It's not pretty. Enter at your own risk because if you were annoyed with how Weiss & Benioff sounded in interviews, they frankly have nothing on Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovich.
This show started on the basis of a scapegoated child trying to live their life even as their family continues to try to meddle in it. It was about healing from that toxic family and finding a real family with those that care about you for who you are. Season 6 spat all over that. The writers went out of their way to absolve God of his abuse of Lucifer, his wife, and all of his other children. They went out of their way to tell their viewers that Lucifer, who has suffered for eons, deserves no family or life. They went out of their way to give his life and family to Amenadiel, someone who has never quite gotten over his superiority to humans and never apologized for any of the pain he caused the people he supposedly cares about. These intentions by the writers were spelled out in their interviews.
Quite frankly, I've had enough of abuse apologia regarding God in real life with Christian "love" that I didn't need the Evangelical wank fest that 1 Million Moms would love, shoved down my throat in my devil show. I mean, who else other than conservative misogynists would think that a zygote should determine the future of their family just because you meet a possible version of them in a possible future, yeetus that fetus. Traumatizing children so that they grow up being thankful for the trauma is not a good message. A child, or in this case a family, should not need to be sacrificed for a greater good, especially considering we got no greater good since the system is exactly the same but now the damned have to rely on someone with zero training in psychology to help them with their guilt because Joe seems to have an Oedipus complex.
Reminder: People who hate the final season have given probably 200 other reasons for why it is terrible writing with actively gross intentions on the part of the showrunners. No matter how many times those who adore the ending try to whittle down the dislike for S6 to "You just wanted a happy-sappy ending!" it still won't be true about 99% of the time. 🤷♀️
A lot more makes sense when you realize everything, and I do mean everything, was to separate the leads and make Lucifer feel like he'd become his father by forcing him to abandon his child. They say as much and more in interviews.
> I don’t understand how Amenadiel can be GOD and visit his kid and Lucifer couldn’t?? I must’ve missed an explanation. Rory’s speech doesn’t cut the bill for an explanation for me personally.
It's the most common question about the season/finale. There are unsatisfying and clumsy answers in the show itself, but if you really want to get at why everything happened the way it did, have a look at what the showrunners said about S6. That wiki also goes into why Trixie wasn't by Chloe's bedside. Fair warning: there's no coming back from reading the showrunner interview answers.
Because it was what the writers wanted. They thought it would be fun to make Lucifer do what his dad did. A wiki was put together of some of their interview quotes.
Here's the linkwiki interviews .
So many people are confused or uncertain about the same things that I broke down and made a wiki of S6 FAQs with answers from interviews done with the showrunners, Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovich. I'll warn you, if you didn't like the ending, the showrunners' interview responses typically make people hate it more.
Is it this one? https://www.comixology.com/Lucifer/comics-series/3046 wondering because in my head I was kind of expecting it to look similar to the series
oh, sorry that one spelling mistake does make the word unrecognizable. I meant "referred". Like: If any part, dialog, etc. of season 4 mentiones anything that happened in (e.g.) e25, e25 would then automatically become canon.
> We are both talking about facts.
Somehow you are right here. We talk about the facts that your post lacks of.
>Most of my comments are facts
Slowly I seem to understand were our differences lie. You still think you tell facts, when by definition (Oxford Dictionary) a fact is "something that is known to have happened or to exist, especially something for which proof exists, or about which there is information".
Yet still your "facts" lack of proof (which you could easily provide, if you had any. But somehow you still refuse to do so). Whereas I provided mine in a different comment.
>[...] and it's obvious when they're not.
So far the only obvious part is, that all your comments have to be purely your subjective opinion because there is no ojective and undeniable proof given.

There are two listings for it on Amazon but I don’t know if it’s legit. I’m in the same boat you are. Netflix did release season 4 on DVD so I’m hoping they will eventually release season 5 and 6.

Imagine if it had just been Luci and Chloe sharing a Double Decker? Aw.
I bought season 3 on DVD, not only for re-watching the season (btw, it's indeed much better watching it in a row than the 1st time with all the damned breaks) but also for the extras (deleted scenes, gag reel).
Oh, and on Amazon I already saw that a s 1-3 box set will be released by September 17th
(they're also shipping to other countries!)

Looks like a custom. Here's what was used for her head.
It doesn't look like her, has the wrong skin tone, and no exclusive uses a black circle sticker unless it's a Limited Edition Glow Chase.
Also you can see on the box where someone badly photoshopped the eye (see the smudge that extends into the hair).
There’s an Omnibus of all Lucifer comics in one hard cover copy on amazon now for like $80, it’s actually well worth it

A HUGE Thank You to our moderator u/JonLuca who worked very hard to figure out why this post wouldn’t go up and why it was blocked.
Lucifer, Hellblazer (Constantine), and American Gods (as well as other works) all operate under the larger Sandman universe created by Neil Gaiman. Start there for a good primer and to get a better idea of how the greater cosmos works in this. Sandman also sets up why Lucifer left Hell and why he's on Earth, though that doesn't happen until the Season of Mists arc of Sandman.
It's not as silly as superhero comics: all of the characters are based on older myths and the arcs have a specific purpose and the story has a specific end in mind.
Lucifer (the comic) follows the Sandman cosmos in scale and characterization, while American Gods is a smaller story with somewhat smaller characters, and Hellblazer wanders off a bit to establish a different pantheon, but it's still heavily influenced by the greater Sandman mythos. There are others that I haven't delved into in a while and can't remember as clearly, like Books of Magic and Anansi Boys.
Vertigo comics in general are a good source for these kinds of stories.
Keep in mind that Lucifer in the comics is a vastly different character. Don't get me wrong, I like the actor and the character they've created for the show, but he doesn't fit into the original mold at all. The story in the show is incredibly simplified and the scale and pacing are greatly diminished, to make for a serialized TV show. They tend to make Lucifer out to be a character from Supernatural, when the original story shows a completely different character. Be ready for that change.
Sandman (TPB Vol 1)
Lucifer (TPB Vol 1)
Make sure its the 2000 series and not the 2015.
Also you need to start with sandman presents Lucifer if you don't get the bigger omnibus editions.
