Yeah, it's a link alright... haha
Jokes aside, these things are super cheap and are always a lifesaver. Always ride with one of these in your pocket. Be sure to get the size specifically for your chain. Good luck!

They are like these and are designed to protect your frame from damage in the event of a tumble. Personally I wouldn't trust them as much as I would trust a decent set of crash bars, which also protect the engine and tank to some extent.
I feel you bud, that's why I always carry one of these and my latest bike has a hydraulic clutch. The kit has even come in handy during a group ride when someone else's clutch cable snapped. Live and learn. Best of luck.
These are brilliant. It doesn’t seem possible that an item this cheap (US$17) could work so well but it’s awesome. I wouldn’t have a motorcycle without one now. There are several testimonial videos on YouTube which is how I found out about it myself.

My wife found it on Amazon. Works quite well for us.
There are little plates available on Amazon and the like for permits.
They have a mounting hole so just pull a screw or bolt from somewhere and reinstall with the plate.

You'll have to bleed the rear brake system after you replace it, obviously. Luckily bleeding the rear brake is not difficult to do by yourself.
I don't trust those "% chance of rain" statistics on daily forecasts. For knowing where rain is and where rain will be, I use this NWS/NOAA NEXRAD radar tool that is available to the public, and keep it on my bookmarks bar:
https://www.wunderground.com/weather-radar/united-states/ca/san-francisco/mux/?region=rno
You can change the region, select a smaller area to zoom in on, and animate the last few hours on a loop to get an idea where the rain is going.
The unfortunate thing about caliper locks is that the steel ones are expensive and the cheap ones are made from cast zinc (easily smashed). If a magnet won’t stick to a lock body, then it’s pretty much just a cheap decoration. Forget consumer reviews too - “my worthless disk lock is great because I’ve never tried to break it.” I went with this low-cost (US$54) option instead which I think of as a solid disk lock with a free cinch chain (11mm square, hardened, manganese steel):

The Suzuki’s are wonderful bikes as well, they’ve got their own look sound and feel. I’m not sure if you’ll find any in your price range that has ABS but on the other hand we’ve been riding without it for over 100 years. Have you taken the safety class yet? Do you know anyone who rides who can help you look at bikes and answer questions? I recommend this book, because you’ll read it more than a few times over the next year or so as you learn to ride. Covers a lot of information most of it or much of it anyway you may not understand yet until you get on the bike.

I use a cheap set of Plugfones from Amazon. They are designed almost exactly like normal reusable ear plugs but have headphone drivers built in. I personally just cannot justify the cost of expensive name brand earplug 'phones given that at the end of the day they are still inherently disposable since the potential failure modes for anything like this are both common and varied.
For my purposes they are absolutely adequate, do an excellent job of blocking wind noise, and sound just as good as any other in-ear headphone that's above the dollar store price point. Since they're wired they're unlikely to get lost even if I flub taking my helmet off, and even if they do get lost or shredded or wrapped around the axle they're cheap enough I won't care. I can plug them into the output on my Sena or just bung 'em into my phone. They're not also not yet another fucking thing I need to remember to keep charged.
Note that anything not specifically designed as an outside noise attenuating earplug does not actually protect you from wind noise and in fact may do more harm than good, even if they claim to be "noise canceling" (which is not the same thing as actual noise attenuation), because you have to crank up your music to a volume level even above the wind noise to be able to hear it. This includes all various and sundry options like unto Airpods, Galaxy Buds, Raycons, Bose QuietComforts, Jabras, Sennheiser Momentums, etc., etc. If they do not publish a noise reduction rating (NRR) they are not earplugs!
Other people have tested 12v systems without buying new wiring and there was no issue. The wires can handle 12v no problem without overheating or risking a fire. I bought a gel battery from Amazon but the prices are more for me because Canada (everything is more expensive because ayyy). If your wiring harness is ratty and falling apart I bought an entirely new one from Thailand off ebay. Just search "Honda Cb125s wiring harness" they seem to go for 20-30 bux + shipping. I received mine and it's an exact copy and in perfect new condition.
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0041CADO6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 this is the exact battery I purchased.
For the moment I still have the stock tail light and blinkers. For my build I'm going to have a half-fairing on the front of the bike so the turning signals will be incorporated into that using LED strips. Same for the tail. I haven't begun work on that yet though.
I bought a new headlight that could use interchangeable bulbs and it fits the stock headlight "ears" for mounting : http://www.dimecitycycles.com/old-school-4-1-2-inch-black-bates-style-headlight.html (it's not this EXACT headlight. they had different stock at the time so the shape is a little different for the lense but it has that blue light on top of the headlight bucket)
"My current bulb seems to be sealed with the current wires, haven't even opened the blinker ones yet." Which bulb? the one for your headlight? it's possible that the light is a sealed unit type since it is from 1978. If so that kinda sucks :( you might need to replace the headlight to be able to use 12v bulbs.
I pretty much have no choice to run 12v because the bike's lights are so weak at 6v people can barely see the blinkers in daylight and I had to start using handsignals for safety.
I've run many, many patched tires. Learn to use the cat-turd plugs. You can get them at walmart or amazon. These things should be hard to put in and they will NOT come out. It helps (becomes possible) if you remove the valve core (and thus all the air) before trying to push the plug in from the outside. Use the rubber cement as lubricant, if it dries, you're not going to be able to push the plug in. The advantage is you do not have to remove the tire. I run them down to the belt after that, but never over 100mph (assuming it was a proper Z rated tire).
I have a tire plug kit and electric pump in my saddle bag for the on the road fix. At home, if the tire has lots of life left in it I use this:
Stop & Go 1075 Tire Repair Stop & Go https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0018EUDHW/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_U_x_mEx9Cb6N41C6A via @amazon
Knockoffs unfortunately. Worst I can find on amazon is $27 per but I'm gonna go for a $40 option most likely so it's not the absolute worst. Also, I think these air filters would be a good replacement for the airbox, although people should really be keeping it. I'm only doing them because I didn't get an airbox when I bought the engine.
Yep, between them (example; https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019M576XW) and the foam style they are the best. I don't use my expensive custom molded ones b/c of the "noise" they make.
Lmao I don't blame you,

The video footage is not shaky and I've seen good results.
There is a mode in the camera called s driving mode which does what you are asking about. I haven't tried it out. I only start recording when I want to depending on where am riding.
Honestly I haven't asked my insurance company so I don't know.
Hope this helps.
You'll need a ramp and some ratchet straps. A set of four should do it - once he has the bike up in the bed, four points of contact should keep it pretty stable. Check these out from amazon and shop around:

The wind noise is more likely to ruin your hearing before the exhaust note.
After not using plugs for about 10 years I developed tinnitus. Decided I better start wearing plugs to save what’s left.
That was 10 years ago and I wish I had not been a jabroni about plugs to begin with. Not just for the hearing protection but also reduced mental fatigue after long rides.
If you’re going disposable, I’d go for the Moldex 6800
After going through a couple boxes of those I decided to try some reusable ones. Did a lot of research and ended up with…
These EarPeace Moto plugs. I’ve been using them for about 8 months and I wish I’d got them sooner. They have slightly better noise reduction capabilities as the Moldex with a better fit. As a bonus they don’t block as much non harmful sound.
Happy riding.
Thats in good shape and looks great. Not alot of the early 90's leather had real armor, most had an extra slab of leather sewn on and some type of foam in the liner. I would give it a good leather treatment, I use this:
i dont get this, for 15 quid you can buy a bluetooth music controller on amazon and keep your phone secure in a pocket just do that!
Great, is carbon fiber worth it? Are there helmets with built in bluetooth and/or hearing protection?
For music/hearing protection should I just use my ISOtunes PRO Bluetooth Earplug Headphones? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075MHXQFV/
Right now, I have these pants for winter riding. Great quality at a good price, I have used several winter paints over the last 20 years and these are as good as any name brand I have had.
You need something like them when you put handlebar gauntlets on to keep the gauntlets from pushing on the clutch and brake levers.
Something like these: https://www.amazon.com/XGOPTS-Universal-Motorcycle-Snowmobile-Waterproof/dp/B0B55TCLCP
Even without the gauntlets they will reduce some of the wind hitting the gloves, not as much but when it's 20degrees F out, every bit helps.
A company sent me these heated gloves to review on my channel. -Just full disclosure in case anyone is worried about bias. I've ridden in 38 F so far. After 7 miles I was turning the heat level down. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09KRD73S1?th=1&psc=1
I haven't had them very long, but seem really nice. They are warm, gauntlet style gloves by themselves but then if you want you can turn on the heat.
On loud exhausts, I'd recommend checking local laws before removing the stock.
In CA (I use this as reference because I live here) any exhaust above 95 dbA is illegal with fines that are up to $1K (making even the simplest loud exhaust quite expensive).
Said that, every empty slip-on is going to be super loud and super cheap. This for example and if you install it without the "silencer" (quotes because it makes 0 difference) is supposed to be louder.
Source: my kid installed it (I then removed it and put back the stock because of the $1000)
I use these and hear music/navigation better than when I forget to put them in, especially with the Sena which doesn't adjust volume based on speed/noise like my freecom does.
a company sent me this pair to review on my Youtube channel-
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09KRD73S1?th=1&psc=1
I will post a review after snow falls here. Just full disclosure that I got them for free.
Went for a ride this morning is 38 degrees F. After 7 miles they were getting a bit too warm and turned down the heat.
There is a battery in each glove. No wire going to your jacket.
They are an insulated gauntlet style. I wouldn't say bulky for what they are. It's about the same as a non-heated gauntlet glove (if insulated for winter temps)
This thing is great. Waterproof, instant on, 9 hour battery, dashcam mode.
I use one and I turn it on and forget about it. Charge it every few days.
Drift Innovation Ghost XL Action... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ST83GKZ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
the name looked familiar, it was, i bought something similar from them. and others from different Amazon sellers. Before that i would buy them on sale at Menards for about the same price. the amazon ones start off waterproof, Menards ones were not. Over the years i have left my motorcycle and flew home for the weekend, weekly, best place was LAX where motorcycles park free, I always parked right near the police station in the garage. I used the framingham port auth parking in lot in the boston suburbs, that was outdoors but at least fenced. I have also used commercial lots, hotel parking, paid airport parking. I disc lock , double if possible and chain the rear wheel/frame to a post if possible. I drag the outside of new covers through dirt, oil, and if lucky a puddle before i use it for the first time. i want to make sure people know this is a dirty cheap tarp over a motorcycle that is not worth stealing. the orange picks up the dirt and oil really well.
I used this one from Amazon for a year without a problem. No rips and decent quality. My bike was parked in a semi-open parking garage. If it was 100% outdoors like in a driveway or backyard, I would considering something a little more durable.
Okay.
Underneath every thing I'm wearing CE level 2 armor. I have a nifty zip front mesh armored undershirt and I have shin, knee , hip and ankle armor as well.
The boots are not designed for riding, hence the ankle and shin armor. They are J 75 Jump boots .
The trousers are tactical pants with rip stop fabric, there are Kevlar fibers incorporated in the rip-stop threads.
Ordinary flannel shirt (over the armored mesh shirt), a leather vest, neck gator and a wool jacket.
One concern is damage to the camera sensor. I upgraded from a Pixel 3a to the 6 pro. I'm not putting my $1000 phone on the bars to destroy the telephoto camera. Buuuuuuttt, the 3a still works fine.
I got a $20 mount off of Amazon that has been perfect.
In contrast to the other poster, trying to listen for instructions put me in more dangerous situations than having the 3a loaded up with offline maps, but I'm also chronically bad at remembering directions. Much nice to be able to glance down and see my next turn coming.
This is what I use, works fine on my Royal Enfield INT650 which has standard 7/8" bars: Lamicall Bike Phone Holder Mount... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08R8MZYMH?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I don't control my music from my phone, it really is just a glorified GPS. I also track my longer rides through Eat Sleep Ride, but you can't participate in the challenges without a SIM card, so be warned.
Seriously, I'm going to reiterate what others have said.
Steel toe safety shoes are not designed for motorcycle riding, and are in fact more dangerous in case of an accident, sometimes even more dangerous than a normal shoe.
I get the frustration of not wanting to carry an extra pair of shoes with you everywhere, but using your safety boots as riding shoes really isn't a smart idea. Maybe your employer can provide you with safe storage for your shoes?
Warnings and my opinions aside, if you're dead set on wearing your safety boots while riding, there are toe protectors you can buy, which slide over your shoe. Not the coolest looking, but it helps to keep your shoes from getting damaged.
I use this on my Multistrada. Eliminated buffet, two axese of adjustment. Surprisingly good quality.
I bought one of these on a whim (amazon prime so easy return if I didn’t like it) and I’m really impressed with it for such a low price. Heavy leather, stout stitching, armor. It did have a tanned leather odor for a while. https://www.amazon.com/Leather-Motorcycle-Jackets-Motorbike-Armored/dp/B07TW3XNDZ
You have had multiple obviously more knowledgeable people tell you that they are backwards, yet you refuse to accept that you are wrong. THE FRONT PRONG IS ALWAYS SUPPOSED TO BE A CONVAVE SHAPE. You front prong is convex. Want definitive proof that you are wrong? Here is your stand on amazon. Want to tell me which direction the prongs face? Note the hole.
You are objectively wrong.
It may have worked out for you this way. That is completely fine. I'm glad it worked and you didn't drop your bike or anything. But you as a person need to be more open to constructive criticism. Because you REPEATEDLY claimed that you for sure have them on the correct way when you undeniably did NOT. Humble yourself.
I always install a relay for my heated grips and other accessories. No worry about draining your battery if you forget to turn them off, and they'll get stronger power directly from the battery compared to tapping into an existing circuit.
I recently found this small prewired one that worked out great on my latest install. Running grips and a USB port off it. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CJ05WW/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_asin\_title\_o04\_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I dont winterize so it can be riding season all year long if i bundle up. I've got these skiing / outdoor sports winter pants that can go over the armor layer. Pinlock for fogging, Nikwax visor spray for rain/water.
Same idea as rainx but for motorcycle visors, it's excellent. Rain just beads up and gets blown off by the wind

You have the wrong clearcoat. You need something that has a 2 part mixture and becomes "activated". The over the counter spray cans of clear dont hold up to gas. The pros use a mix your own kind of gun and mix in the clear coat with a hardener. This is the secret to clearcoat that can handle a gas spill at the pump. If you dont want to get a pro setup (or a cheapo spray setup for hundreds) then go buy a rattle can that has a button on the bottom that when pressed, has a 30-45 min clock until the paint dries in the can itself.
You want this brand if you want just a rattle can to try again. Just sand down your top coat a little, apply another coat or two of base if needed, then wipe with a tack cloth and spray your clear, let it cure for a few days longer than specified on the label and youre good to go.
I've got a Triumph Scrambler 1200 and I use a tank bag from niche off amazon. I like it so far. It has a safety strap in case you don't trust the magnets, but it stays put pretty well just from the magnets. I don't think it will rub the paint off, but we'll see. The phone holder isn't very useful for me. I have hard time actually seeing my phone through plastic with any kind of sun glare on it. I'm sure a tail bag would probably give you a lot more storage though. I occasionally have a passenger so I didn't go that route.
After giving a look at your bike. A tank bag might not be all that great with the seating position of your z400.
There are tons of affordable off brand gear options. If you're in a pinch, even cheap Cycle Gear house brands like Bilt and Sedici will work and will be better than normal clothes. Probably perfectly adequate for commuting, really, if maybe not quite up to snuff for using at the track.
Re: Corrosion from salty air. There are tons of automotive rust preventative sprays that will also work just peachy on your motorcycle. You can spray down engine components and just wipe down easily accessible shiny bits like your handlebars, exposed frame elements, forks, etc. I prefer TC-11 for this purpose but there are other similar options. You'll also want to keep your chain very well oiled. You can just use regular gear oil from the auto parts store and a toothbrush to apply it. The heaviest weight you can find will last longest.
Do not apply preventative oils on: Your brake pads, handgrips, or tires. And probably also your seat.
This is the only "cheap" phone mount I've tried that's actually any good. One size fits most... I can jam a Moto Z4 in it with quite a thick case, but your mileage may vary if you have a really huge phablet. If you're worried about your phone falling out, I ride off-road with this mount with my phone in it for maps and I haven't even come close to having my phone fall out. Avoid the fake "RAM" style mounts with the little skinny spring loaded arms in an X configuration. They all suck. (The real brand name ones don't suck that much less, honestly.)
Yes: it's a paperback book, written by D.L. Hough. It's available on Amazon. Forget the idea. I've tried ALL the systems. Tiny little speakers are simply not loud enough at 30+mph due to wind noise. At 55? Can't even tell what song is playing.

Lots of great ideas here. To add, I use a tool called speed out to remove ruined bolts and screws.

I strongly prefer smaller, collapsible tail bags when you're not bringing a passenger around. Nelson Rigg bags are awesome for this: https://www.amazon.com/Nelson-CL-1060-S2-Black-Commuter-Motorcycle/dp/B07KZ3CQH5
There's 4 different sizes, all are expandable, and very reasonably priced.
This one. It says it's 17" long but I think that's with the flap out. A Tusk tire spoon/axle wrench fits in without a bunch of room left over. I'd take a picture of mine but it's in a storage unit right now.
The pouch is just a nylon pencil pouch I picked up at Walmart.
What you're looking for is called a "CrampBuster" it fits over your grip and allows you use your palm to hold the throttle open. https://www.amazon.com/Crampbuster-CB2-CrampBuster-Wide/dp/B000GZPH2U?th=1
I ended up get V&H Monster Ovals and had them powder coated. Did not come in black. I had chrome. Got black covers for the pipes..

Oof, sorry but you're SOL. Double whammy, deep scratches and matte paint. DO NOT buff it with a scratch removal compound. It'll make the area shiny, sure you'll probably make the scratches less visible, but it'll be replaced with shiny areas that stand out more on your matte paint. Best you can do aside from a respray is something like this to hide it a tiny bit https://www.amazon.com/Chemical-Guys-SPI_995_16-Meticulous-Detailer/dp/B00FQHY64S/ref=asc_df_B00FQHY64S

Do your own research first, especially since your finish is different than the gloss red I had on mine, but I've been using this stuff for years with great results: SC1 High Gloss coating or Original Bike Spirits cleaner and polish
For example something like this, would it work for what I need? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Portable-Universal-31200mAh-Charging-External-Black/dp/B07WV2WB9T/ref=sr\_1\_3?crid=2KR7ZTJPCRTZU&keywords=power+bank+outlet&qid=1657378126&sprefix=power+bank+outlet%2Caps%2C65&sr=8-3

Honestly this stuff is amazing. I used it on my horribly discoloured street triple exhaust and all it took was 2 minutes and a sponge scouter and it was good as new. Not sure if you can get it in the US but if you can give it a go. It’s brilliant stuff.
If you can get Anti-vibe gloves, all the better. MechaniX brand has some good anti-vibe gloves. (But, note not all gloves claiming anti-vibe are the same. I got a pair that just had lightly quilted palms: my hands hurt for a while after trying them) https://www.amazon.ca/Mechanix-MP2-05-010-M-Pact-Gloves-Black/dp/B0001VO1M6/ref=mp_s_a_1_7?crid=2SEZIERSO3IQ1&keywords=mechaniX+brand+anti-vibe+gloves&qid=1657249591&sprefix=mechanix+brand+anti-vibe+gloves+%2Caps%2C223&sr=8-7
I concur with everything else people said- good helmet, boots, jacket etc. However I would add that you can now get flexible and low profile CE rated level 2 armor. I haven't seen a lot of it out there yet but I just got a set this week and I totally forget it's there. Pretty rad stuff.
So, I put on a fender eliminator. That removes my turn signals, so I bought a taillight that has built in turn signals. This is my first bike, so I don’t have much experience doing things like this. However, installing it was as simple as removing the old wires, and replacing them with the new ones.
The lights work and everything seems fine aside from this.
Here is the light I bought:
any thoughts on these Kendas?
I've run kendas on my car before and they were decent. They're like 5 or 6 bucks cheaper for a pair than dunlop 300's.
Like you said, most tires these days are pretty decent.
For the people in the EU, here's some legal whiter replacement bulbs I've been using for 3 years now.
Realworld picture from Monday
If anyone got better/other halogen bulbs to recommend, I'd appreciate if you'd share it.
It's perfectly repairable, if you're doing yourself make sure you "unscrew" the screw you will do less damage to the tire, then just follow it instructions in the repair kit. https://www.amazon.com/Tooluxe-50002L-Universal-Punctures-Motorcycles/dp/B002I52RG0/ref=sr_1_5?crid=3UIEIG7XK23YI&keywords=tire%2Brepair%2Bkit%2Bwith%2Bplugs&qid=1654800025&sprefix=tire%2Brep%2Caps%2C107&sr=8-5&th=1
Right tho 😬😬 like I know as a kid I had a death grip and my son definitely does but my daughter is a kinder soul. 😅
I’m going to try this next. It also has little handles for them to grip on.

I also got one that straps her to me on order. While yes it’s undesirable in a wreck to have her strapped to me I think she’s more at risk of falling asleep and falling off. Since we’ll kids fall asleep in cars all the time and that on a motorcycle scares me more then anything else. That and getting rear ended.

Thee are these things - disclaimer: i havent tried it.
But they should work with the non-"pinlock ready" tinted visors, at least in theory.
I'm searching all products but the closest thing I get is shit like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B088PNJRXF/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_G2P0R7JQKCA1RHX15HPG
Which is obviously not the bike in the picture. So I'm just wondering where these are coming from. I know bozos has a house around here so maybe it's his buddies that are test riding them. If I see it tomorrow I'm gonna hang around and try to catch the owner hopping on and ask him about it.
I'd love to know what people thing about ANR earphones. I'm looking at the Shure Aonic 215 hooked up to my phone.
Any experience out there with this sort of option?
I'm late to these headphones threads but adding this in case it helps others.. I use a cheap set of wired akg headphones with the rubber insert but put on a helmet liner before putting on helmet and they very seldom come out while riding. Here's an example link -- https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072JPLJBN/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_YFXD358ZB4E5KPC1M9CS?psc=1
That said, if anyone had headphone suggestions for better wind noise protection during highway riding all while jamming out, I'm all ears. (pun intended 🙃)
The best ones I've found are the surefire sonic defender ep7's They have filter caps that you can open so you can still here sirens Etc. and for altitude changes, they also come in different sizes. https://www.amazon.com/SureFire-Defenders-filtered-Earplugs-reusable/dp/B009T9QXXQ/ref=sr_1_1?crid=129HQI8JH298W&keywords=surefire+ep7+sonic+defenders&qid=1653448458&sprefix=surefire+ep7+sonic+defenders%2Caps%2C302&sr=8-1
The Ridgid screw extractors are the best I've found for removing bolts like that, soaking it with liquid wrench before hand will help also. https://www.amazon.com/RIDGID-35585-Extractor-4-inch-2-inch/dp/B000WQYJIG
