You could argue that you're not a typical family. I hear anecdotes like this, but as a whole insurance premiums HAVE declined.
I know in my experience, my family saved significantly. Covering myself, my wife and our daughter was nearly half of every paycheck before, whereas now with the tax credits it's very affordable, and we've also got a better insurance plan than we did before.
If your employer's health insurance is not compliant with ACA standards, then as far as the marketplace is concerned your employer does not offer health insurance. This makes you eligible for tax credits, unless you make a pretty hefty income. I would get with a navigator to
A. Find out if you're eligible for tax credits. Again, if your employer doesn't offer ACA compliant insurance and you don't make an upper-class amount of money, you probably will be.
B. Find out if you're eligible for special enrollment, as open enrollment has closed. The eligibility requirements are pretty lenient on this - you can plead ignorance to the tax and get in, for example. One of the criteria is just "You aren’t already enrolled in 2015 coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace or outside the Marketplace," so that seems like it fits you.
I'm pretty sure John Green is the guy whose brother is an author. If I understand it correctly, Hank's brother spends most of his time trying to tear down walls in his basement.
Percentages can be deceptive. According to Worldmeters the population in 2008 was 6,789,771,253, in 2018 it was 7,632,819,325. That is a child mortality number of 393,806,732.674 vs 442,703,520.85 There is still progress to be made.
I don't think there would be a demand. Podcast managers, like Podcast Addict (Android), Pocket Casts (Android), Overcast (iOS), or Juice (Windows, OSX, Linux) can download them without tedium.
Nice! That will make this book reach even further. However, consider using an alternative to the Amazon-owned Goodread's site to track your reading. I'm a big fan of the relatively new startup Storygraph.
No John Green section is complete without Sasquatch

Where were the fees coming from before? They accept paypal as well as direct CC. Your bank might charge for USD for example, or paypal charges their own conversion fees maybe.
I struggle a lot with anxiety, and there are a few things online that help me:
comfort music, videos, and podcasts: I have albums and songs, pod episodes that I go back to, that comfort and uplift me. I recommend making a playlist
mindfulness exercises/ practices: as my issue is anxiety, mindfulness helps a lot. I have a few videos of people hiking in silence that are lovely
Woebot: it's an amazing app, it has shorts exercises built on CBT that are incredibly helpful for me. here's the android version
It might be the first time they’ve appeared as the Vlogbrothers on radio, but John had been on the radio before. He’d even been on All Things Considered!

Well, you can look at how much support he receives on Patreon.com. Each new youtube video generates him $15,700 in pledges. While a podcast episode generates $2,600 which he has to split with Brady Haran.
This excludes YouTube revenue, sponsorship revenue and advertisement.
Nevermind. I decided to be the change I wanted to see in the world.
Seems like there are quite a few decent titles left over, along with some short vague ones. But it might be a stretch to try to use all the leftover single words and fragments.
In print, between 80k-100k per week in the greater Chicagoland area. I'm not sure what kind of traffic the website gets. Alexa says chicagoreader.com is ranked 13,362 in the US, but I'm not sure how many hits that translates into.
The reason I didn't give an unlimited amount of responses was I didn't want to get overwhelmed with responses. I do have to sort through them, you know! :)
Edit: I made a new survey here, so you can fill it out now if you'd like!

inb4 OMG Geordi LaForge / Kunta Kinte / The Reading Rainbow guy!
Seriously though, LeVar Burton is such an awesome guy. Reading Rainbow changed my life and so many others. Check out the Kickstarter if you haven't here.
Yeah there is a ton of great stuff on Patreon, like this https://www.patreon.com/dwyrin He's a well known (in the go community) teacher (full disclosure, my teacher) who does a lot of really good go content for free. He just recently started up his patreon and I'm more than happy to be able to directly support his work. It's a pretty niche topic that isn't going to become huge like crash course.
Or https://www.patreon.com/djcutman a weekly chiptune podcast/live show. Again, another awesome thing that wouldn't ever get huge, but they can do cool stuff because of Patreon.
It's not perfect, but I can at least directly support the stuff I like, instead of indirectly though tshirts or whatever.
I'm not going to go through and crunch the actual numbers, but a quick guesstimate of 23 episodes multiplied by, let's say, 8 minutes per episode (the first ones were shorter, the more recent ones have been 10-12 minutes) gives us roughly three hours of John playing GTAV. Given how far into the story he isn't, at one episode a week, with an average player taking between 30-40 to finish the story (source), John should make it to the end of the game some time before the end of the universe.
I read The Hate U Give via audiobook, and the narrator was superb. Bahni Turpin puts so much emotion into the reading and does a great job with all of the voices. Audible will give you a free book with sign-up. One of the best books I have ever read.
I don't have OCD, but I've noticed that counting my breaths has become very relaxing to me since I started meditating. I think it really helped that I had an app with guided meditation sessions. The app I tried is called Headspace, and its first 10 sessions are free. But there are loads of others out there.
By the way, if you think meditation sounds weird and hippie (which I did at the start), watch this TED talk by the maker of the app. He seriously has the most relaxing voice ever.
Thanks for sharing your experience, that's really interesting. I did some googling and while there hasn't been a lot of research on dyslexia and how it affects readability of typefaces, it does seem that dyslexic readers prefer sans-serif fonts. I'll definitely keep that in mind in the future.
I think he addressed it in one of the more recent videos, not the core content, but one of the "side" videos.
Basically they don't have enough subscribers and they are depending on donations from NOT Subbable (sorry, can't find which system they are using for donations ATM)
Edit: They are receiving donations via Patreon
I personally really like r/CGPGrey and I'm part of a couple local "startup" facebook groups. I don't have a startup but I like reading about what's going on in the tech community in my city.
I'm also part of Hubski. The community doesn't have a "theme" but it's just this strange corner of the internet where what matters is intelligent discussion. What I like most there is that people tend to keep in mind that you're a person and are not as dismissive like on bigger subreddits. And since it's a pretty small community, you can't really treat people like shit and get away with it. It's a bit intimidating at first because when I joined it seemed like everyone knew each other but I m glad I stuck around :) It doesn't take long until new members integrate, and fresh blood is aways welcome.
Honestly, part of the reason I posted this was to share Hubski with you fellow nerdfighters because I think many of you will fit right in there and I'm just so exited about that place I wanted to share it. I was also hoping to find other communities and y'all gave me lots to go check out!
I (brainytrafficlight on Youtube) made a survey about this and linked to it in the comments of the video. At this early, early stage people seem to favour Google Drive, but /r/nerdfighters seems popular too.
I'm linking to the survey here too in case people don't scroll all the way down the Youtube comment chain: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/L6ZFLRB
And maybe we should have a dedicated subreddit. I think if people just post their stories in the comments it will get pretty hard to keep track of things after four or five walls-of-text-with-comments. I whipped up (that's putting it kindly) /r/nerdfighterstoryclub , but if it's a bad idea I'll delete it.
I read it in print, as I enjoy that the best, but it is also in audiobook and Kindle form. Many libraries have it now, as well. Have you tried out Hoopla? It is an app that many libraries are connected to. You just type in your library card number and it brings up many audiobooks and ebooks. It very well could be there if it is at your library. Amazon link to the book. https://www.amazon.com/Turtles-All-Down-John-Green/dp/0525555366
I've used the "Perfect Pod EZ 2.0" for the past few years with regular coffee and our keurig and have had pretty decent coffee. It uses a paper filter and takes fine grind and "regular" grind just fine. You can pack it in fairly tight. Ours has a strength option, but it seems to just brew slower. I've made 12 oz cups that have turned out pretty good.
I'm in Japan so maybe it's different. I just looked it up on amazon cuz I never checked. It usually looks like this, and apparently it says they go up to 200 degrees celcius (a little under 400 fahrenheit). I was very confused watching the video and reading this comment section.

According to the OED, "British" means
>Relating to Great Britain or the United Kingdom, or to its people or language.
Since Northern Ireland is part of the UK, Northern Irish people are British subjects and could properly be called "British," kind of like how Hawaiians are still Americans despite not being in North or South America. (Also, while not on the island of Great Britain, Northern Ireland is in the British Isles, regardless of who rules over it. So is the Republic of Ireland, but I wouldn't recommend calling an Irishman "British" to his face.)
Might I also recommend ecosia. A search engine that plants trees: https://www.ecosia.org/
for even more decreasing of world suck without doing anything different than you already do

I haven't logged in for a while so I don't know what you'll find but it was a good server full of good people.
Not OP commenter, but I recommend this really basic Psychology textbook that we used in freshman Intro Psych. Right now it is free on Kindle. This book really helped me get started understanding how brains work, and from what I remember it was very easy to read with lots of case study summaries and interesting facts/history on psychology.
Sounds weird but really be aware of the flaws that come with self diagnosing before you read! It can be really easy to be a bit of a hypochondriac when reading about psychology or sociology imo
Glad to hear that it looks useful!
As for the dev side of things, I am currently an intelliJ guy, but I have worked on this project in Eclipse in the past. I also have worked with teams that choose their own tools and there were only minimal cases where an environment-specific case would crop up. Currently the project is not a rat's nest of dependencies which makes working with any IDE easier, although as I have been looking around at other java-based math projects I have found a few things I may try to reuse. As I mentioned in another comment I am looking at using the equation editor from this project http://mirai.sourceforge.net/. I have also considered embedding some of geogebra to make it easier to make interesting geometry models.
I've put up a copy of the survey, but with no response limit. Like u/maethor1337 said, it looks like I underestimated Nerdfighteria! Here is a link to the new survey. DFTBA!
I don't normally like to point people in the direction of amazon but these are essentially what the book shelves are.
I checked and I also don't find it, BUT don't despair. My mistake. I actually did get it through bookdepository but I ordered it through amazon because I had a gift card there. I searched for "anthropocene reviewed signed edition" and I found the book sold and shipped by bookdepository. It's still there in German amazon: https://www.amazon.de/-/en/John-Green/dp/0525555218/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=the+anthropocene+reviewed+signed+edition&qid=1627025989&sprefix=the+anth&sr=8-1
I assumed that, since I effectively bought it from bookdepository, you would also find it there. I have no idea why there is this discrepancy but I was able to get the signed book this way!
Ah, yeah, I did see that Kristof op/ed. I don't necessarily agree with some of his conclusions but it was still an interesting read, and he does make the point that it's more complicated than it seems.
Also, Kristof cites the 2006 book <em>Who Really Cares</em>, which makes the argument that conservatives tend to donate more to charitable causes than liberals and where, I suspect, Takuwind is basing their claim on. I'd have to read the book to have a meaningful opinion on it, although I do want to point out that an academic paper published in 2013 disputes some of the findings in the book.
Does this mean that existentialists believe in a meaning for life? Or that meaning is irrelevant for life to exist? Or that Humans create meaning in order to live? Or that meaning creates Humans to exist?
Also, is it wrong to think that Humans are an unfortunate byproduct of our genes trying to survive (see Dawkin's book )
So this was Bill Nye's only objection to GMOs in his recent book (http://www.amazon.com/Undeniable-Evolution-Creation-Bill-Nye-ebook/dp/B00LDQPM94). Not that they're unsafe, but that genes alien to the ecosystem, could possibly show up in other organisms with unattended consequences. However the evidence doesn't support that fear, and recently he's reversed his opinion http://www.amazon.com/Undeniable-Evolution-Creation-Bill-Nye-ebook/dp/B00LDQPM94
I've read in multiple news sources that this man was very open about his anti-religion views, and they sounded to me that they were pretty categorical and extreme. See this page.
The psychology of group conflicts, escalating to violence, is well-understood scientifically. If you want sources on this, I recommend taking a peek at Prisoners of Hate: The Cognitive Basis of Anger, Hostility, and Violence, by Aaron T. Beck This book explains how the relationship between us-vs-them groupthink, and violence, is pretty direct.
I don't think that there's any relationship between specific, pointed criticisms of religion, and violence, but I think that the risk of violence increases whenever you have an ideology (whether in a group, or just in an individual's head) that views a person or group of people in strictly negative terms, like demonizing them or viewing them as the enemy.
Back to the topic, I think public mocking plays into this groupthink, this negative view of a person or group of people. That's why I think it can result in violence.
To see a really basic example of this, suppose you publicly mock a person for racism. You may have views against violence, but there may be other people out there who are more prone to violence, and who see the person's racism, and then respond by taking matters into their own hands, like "vigilante justice". This is especially common in cases where people are publicly accused of severe crimes, things like child sexual abuse, but I think it can happen with milder things too. Think like the gamergate scandal where women were getting death threats and rape threats and stuff like this.
