This HAS to do with Modest Mouse’s Float On music video. I’m not sure how this artist connects to it, but the video has various instances of sheep looking into a slaughterhouse. The video uses a different, but similar artistic approach, with illustrated figures and a similarly distorted depth of field. According to the band, the song speaks to coping with life’s misfortunes and the underlying pessimism of the world at the time it was written, and learning to move forward (Float On) with optimism, regardless of how bad things are. More on it here.

Is it better or worse if I point out it’s a composite of probably 3-4 images?
I recognized the canoe as one of the first images uploaded to Unsplash, a stock photo site. The mountains are probably another photo, birds from a third, and the clouds maybe 2-3 of their own photos.
When did you go though? The population has steadily been increasing the last 50 years and it's really noticeable in such a small island. http://www.worldometers.info/world-population/malta-population/
Not to mention the construction sites literally everywhere
Well, if you have the time, I'd love to challenge you to take the same two original images and make a better version.

Oh dear god... I've experienced that exactly once. A C-5 flew over my house (I live in an air force town). I was 100% sure it was coming down. That was not a good start to my day. Even my best friend who live 2 blocks away and is not scared of them called me and was like "WTF was that?! Are you ok?" No, no I was not ok. I'm finally seeing a therapist for my fear. I just want to live in the middle of nowhere. lol
Lots of animals are way, way smarter than humans in general give them credit for. We act like they're just these robotic being that don't know right from left, but they are so far from. They love, they think, they dream, they cry, they suffer (physically and mentally), they feel cold/hot, soft/hard, joy/anger/sadness/happiness and everything in-between. They have memories, plans (even if not long term), wants, and needs.
A really interesting book on the subject that you might find interesting, since you're already starting to see some of the surface of it.
