According to this post they vet every single entry and have a process in place to handle denied and resubmitted entries.

According to this list the name up top is the only one in the "Approved" list that used Nigger in the text. Plenty of bad words, but just one with Nigger. That tells me it was probably a mistake.

It might be worth it to at least look at Dwarf Fortress. It is in development right now (and will be for a long time), but it is freeware, highly detailed, and has a few similarities with Prison Architect.

you can go thorugh all the previous patch notes here Deployment, Fog of war, firemen, fires!, criminal history, workshop, jobs, purchasing plots of land, drugs, booze, weapons, contraband, shakedown, tunnels, dogs... that only up to alpha 15. There have been 36 Alpha's so far... so short answer is, a lot. You have missed a lot. Vesrion 1.0 will have a tutorial mode, I would suggest waiting for that to catch up properly. :)

Using Notepad++ open your save file.

C:\Users\YOUR_NAME\AppData\Local\Introversion\Prison Architect\saves\

Search for any virusdeadly status effects and simple remove them.

The latest version of PA doesn't play nicely with Steam's Offline Mode, it's an acknowledged bug on the Mantis bug tracker.

You could try the DRM free version direct from the devs here, you just need to link your steam account with an Introversion account and you can download the game as a standalone .exe.

This. Right click prison architect on steam (on any PC you're logged in to, doesn't matter if it's a friends you can borrow for 5 minutes) and choose View CD Key, and enter it into the Prison Architect site, and it'll let you download the DRM free builds.

GOG is a website that sells games, just like a toy store sells toys. You can buy Introversion games from GOG, just like you can buy LEGO sets from a toy store.

Prison Architect can be downloaded in one of two ways:

1. Through the [http://www.introversion.co.uk/prisonarchitect/builds.html](Introversion website). This is probably what you have. Not many mods are available, but some exist. You have to install mods manually.

2. Through Steam. Most of the PA mods are released through the Steam Workshop. You (should have) received a Steam key when you bought the game. The Steam Workshop allows you to, in ~two clicks install, enable, and automatically update mods. You do need a Steam Account and the Steam Client.

Assuming you're using Windows, windows key + r then *%LOCALAPPDATA%\Introversion\Prison Architect\Saves*

Open your savename.prison in a text editor (Making a backup first is never a bad idea!), ideally something like Notepad++ which wont muck up the formatting, and then search for (ctrl+f) "SalePrice". Edit the value so that it's 0. Save the file & load the prison.

Remember the Civ V world leaders that each bring a special world ability? Not content with your own prisoner likeness, and custom polaroid? Come in at this level and you'll also get to design the warden. There will be five wardens in game and the player will have to choose which one to use each time. One of these will be designed by you and us and have a special feature or buff that we'll work together to figure out. As if that isn't worth the price tag alone you also get....every......other......tier.

You call 24-48 hours harsh? I have a solitary cell block and I have 89 solitary cells in total. If anyone tries to escape they get 240 hours of solitary.

Go here and register your account with your purchase key. When you do so, you'll gain access to the development forums and the ability to post to the bug tracker.

Banished is very similar and very different. You have a little less control over the people, but the idea is the same, you create a place for them to live, give them things to do, and the people figure out what they're going to do moment to moment. The obvious difference is that Banished is a frontier town where you lay out farms and blacksmiths rather than a prison. You still have to meet the needs of a large population of simulated people by looking after their food, health and happiness.

Just some explanation for what I've done:

No visitation - phones do just fine for satisfying family needs.

Two hour eating blocks - given the large size, many prisoners lag behind and after the meal period ends, the hungry status goes away from your todo list. So I threw a bunch of TVs, phone booths, and showers in the canteen so those who finished eating hungry still have something to do.

if < 15 prisoners, I take in min/medium security. If >15, I take in min only. Minimum because they tend to cause less trouble, but I do take in occasional medium because otherwise I'm releasing prisoners faster than I take them in. Medium security tend to stick around longer.

It's a pretty relaxing prison to run. Occasional scuffles, but not very often and rarely serious. Just run a shakedown every other game day and you'll catch any potential tunnels. Otherwise, just let it work its magic!

That's for direct Introversion copies, if you got that one you have also received a Steam key to the email address you used to buy it. Not sure how the Humble Bundle version works.

Alright so this is what you do. You use your key to register on forums and then you can download prison architecht v1.0 along with previous alphas from here You can also use your key to activate the game on steam. If you lost the key i think they will give it to you if you email support with the email that you used to buy the game.

If you have a google account, you can just go File - Copy to get your own version of it, which you can modify. They release a new update every month here with a description, video and change log.

If you look at the alpha build list and check out the full changes under 34, you'll see that searching a toilet will discover all tunnels connected to it.

You don't need to use the Steam key.

This is where you'd go after registering your code at their forums. That will also open up the wiki and bugtracker (which you can post suggestions, bugs, and comments to).

They had a whole month where the focused on bugs and killed some big annoyances, but game performance is still pretty poor.

It's a free downloadable program where you can take screenshots of what you are doing on a computer and upload them to the internet. It's really handy. Learn to use the shortcut C + Ctrl + Shift to use it while playing a game.

same problem. The problem happens (not all the time though) when prisoner intake happens and the new prisoners are assigned to a bunk bed. This is with a new prison and minimum security prisoners. Haven't tested it with anything else yet. It could also have to do with the payment you receive for those prisoners. (Or maybe not, the more I test the less sure I become, I wish there was a bug report file -derp)

I've played nearly 80 hours - there are still bugs and problems, but it can be deeply satisfying.

It also goes on sale fairly regularly - keep an eye on https://www.humblebundle.com/store. They had it for £6.99 a couple of weeks ago (~9€?)

Experiments like these are completely rampant in Dwarf Fortress (one of the inspirations for PA, actually). It has a much higher learning curve but I highly recommend it!

Could you do me a favor and use this website to see if it says your PC's specs fails? Because it says so on mine. If yours say the same thing, but you can still play the game fairly well the I will buy the game.

I think your guards —the armed ones mainly— raise the danger level of the prison, which make prisoners raise their safety need. In this savegame I fired a lot of them, and the safety level appears to be steadily decreasing (as I was testing, to avoid any riot i also changed 2 hours of regime from work to free time, i guess you can undo that).

It's this awesome app called F.lux, it makes the color of your computer's display adapt to the time of day, warm at night and like sunlight during the day, making it easier to look at the screen without getting blinded. I highly recommend!

I don't think they've ever been as explicit as the author suggests, but surely you'd agree the game does appear to engage on some levels with the way for profit prisons run.

If you're talking about the ones with custom faces, you'll need to buy the face in the game pack, which is sold out. You can't really customize prisoners' skin colour or body shape, as they are likely generated randomly by the game.

Telling you how to try the game before deciding on buying it would violate rule #2 ;) However I can highly recommend PA, I've put way more hours into it than C:S, and I bought PA about a month later.

And to be honest, PA is one of the few games where I didn't get some crazy cheap steam key from a third party but instead bought it directly from the developers, it's just that awesome!

People can put custom names in the game if they buy the upgrade (just comes with some goodies nothing for gameplay). here's a link to the text dumps of the names in game.
