There's a trick where you can use a PC program to delete a certain part of the file which stops this from happening, I'll edit this post if I find it.

You will have a DRM surprise, most of the disc files are encrypted with a key located on the portion of disc most readers or copiers wont access.
Edit, pressed Enter too fast:
The easiest is to just dump with multiman app on a CFW console.
If you have a supported BD drive you can make a decrypted ISO, though not sure if Linux tools exist yet. Read up on getting ROMs for RPCS3 on their website for more.

That's Dosbox for PS3.
http://www.abandonia.com/vbullet/showthread.php?t=26128
That's how to run fallout in dosbox.
Best of luck, no idea if it even works.
just threw this together, removes the PS Store from the PSN Section, it's been a while tho so i forget how to remove a category completely.

>Is it possible?
Yes.
>Is it easy?
Not unless you, or someone you know, is very good with a soldering iron. Or you can pay someone. There are services that will install downgraders for you, but I have no experience with them. Proceed at your own risk.
>Can it cause a brick?
You'll have to literally open your console, use a tool that gets up to hundreds of degrees, and attach wires to very specific places on the motherboard of your console. You do the math.
>What can I do besides play my backups?
You can emulate older consoles. Pretty much everything from before the PS3. More than likely some other stuff. I dunno. I kinda fell out of gaming in general after my daughter came on the scene...
>In regards to my backups, can I get away with a USB powered 1TB external drive at 5400 rpm, or do i/should i upgrade?
I'd recommend getting a standard 2.5" disk and installing it. You can find some pretty specific instructions here.
I personally do have a 1TB USB-powered disk attached to mine, but I'm pretty certain you can't actually play any games from it. The PS3 came before USB3 so there really wouldn't be enough throughput to actually play any games. I use mine to store currently unplayed games and to move huge files back and forth from my PC.
>I'm running a PS3 CECH-2000 model PS3 320GB.
That big of a disk should be plenty for you for some time. However, I'm really not familiar with what PS3 models are jailbreakable and which ones aren't at all. I know that some (many? All?) of the newer/slim models are not. I bought a fat PS3 just to jailbreak... :P
Sorry, but I'm not experienced with those apps. I use multiman mainly, and I don't use ISO's. Honestly, I'd open the ISO in a app like 7-zip and check if it has "PS3_GAME", "PS3_UPDATE" folders, and a "PS3_DISC.SFB" file. If it does I'd just extract those things and any other files in the iso into a folder and load the game through webman like that. Only way I can think of :/
I'm not sure what you mean. You don't need another external hdd, just a way of connecting your ps3 hdd to your computer.
This is an example of what I mean by external hard drive enclosure. You just plug your ps3's internal drive into it. Make sure it is 2.5 inch.
However, none of this will be of any use to you if you haven't previously backed up your EID_Root_Key already, because you need it to be able to read the drive. You can only get the root key from a working, jailbroken ps3.
If you do not have your root key already, your only option is to get another 2.5 internal drive for your ps3, format it and jailbreak the ps3 again, then dump the root key through something like rebug toolbox or some other homebrew.
Yup, this is the only way to get around the HDCP issue. Luckily, it is not that expensive. The link below points to the one I purchased and does the job and allows the PS3 to play nice with the El Gato capture card. It is retailing now for $11.89 on Amazon.

you are welcome if you get it fixed which i hope you do here is an advice get a fire tv stick for netflix youtube or other thing on it so you don't accidentally update the ps3 again it is very cheap here is a link to it https://www.amazon.com/all-new-fire-tv-stick-with-alexa-voice-remote/dp/B07ZZVX1F2
Just buy this 2 pack for $5.99: USB C to Mini USB 2.0 Adapter, (2-Pack)Type C Female to Mini USB 2.0 Male Convert Connector Support https://www.amazon.com/Adapter-Convert-Connector-Compatible-Receiver/dp/B07TLBTXXJ/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=usb+mini+to+usb+c+adapter&sr=8-4
There’s literally products that replace the cover for the PS4 HDD Bay. Nyko used to sell one, but heres one alike: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076YFSBY2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_h-ioFb6QRZ9HD
Also 4TB 2.5in drives have existed for awhile. Seagate has some, Western Digital has some, and you can also get SSDs if you really wanted.
You have to pay for the service monthly but a PC is not required. I suggest NordVPN and here is a quick way to set it up I googled for you. It works for PC, game systems and even your cellphone. It also allows to to bypass regional restricted content. Well worth the money for your security.
try using this app and having a formatted NTFS. im not sure if the app will formate the drive but its worth a shot

HDCP is built in at hardware level in the encoder, so software can't really turn it off, even though Debug settings has an option for it it's meant for the special chips in the actual dev units. Retail PS3s ignore that toggle
I do record PS3 gameplay footage though, many HDMI Splitters or cheap HDMI Matrix boxes accept HDCP on the inputs, but output standard unencrypted HDMI. I use this box myself, although most 1080p rated splitters will forget to forward on HDCP as well.
Any SATA 2.5in SSD fits in the PS3. Name brand doesn't matter that much as PS3's I/O bottlenecks bad enough that it won't come close to full utilization of the SSD capabilities, it does help a lot in random seeks though. Here is SSD I ended up using
a 128GB flash drive is under 20 bucks on amazon.
do you have a buddy with a spare flash drive or external hdd you could borrow?
Ah well it usually comes in the box itself but since you don't have it, you can get one from amazon to give it a shot. Pretty cheap but resolution will be limited to 560p Ps3 Av/Rca cable
I just used one of these controllers: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TYR1MDV and Recovery Mode worked fine with it. doesnt have to be an official controller.
XMB might not let you because the CFW might stop it from doing so, although you could try different versions, like a newer version of HFW maybe.
What link were you looking at? A simple plug in adapterlike this is all you need to perform the HDD exchange.
If you want to turn the old drive into a external HDD with an enclosure then I could see why the drive's size was asked.
Here is the tutorial I followed by Mr.Mario:
And here is the exact network adapter I bought from the same ad.. I also bought a 1tb 7200RPM WD blue. Any hard drive will work tho
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B08VJD79N8/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_N788NT9G1ZG5K1BXVZDW?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Typically, no. There might be a BT audio plugin out there to redirect the game audio but I heard it was a pain to use. Think i saw ultimate toolbox have the option for this...
The workaround I'm using is multiple audio output and hook up the optical output cable to this BT transmitter
AC Infinity to the rescue! Usb-powered 120mm external fans. They sell them individually or as part of a kit (and the beautiful thing is they all daisy chain together, should you buy one kit). Currently have three of the lay-flat 90° blowers ("Multifan S2"; for my receiver, one standing up on its side to push my Xbox's hot exhaust off the shelf in the), and a kit of two fans already set inside a box ("Airplane T7"'; I'll link each here). I have those set in a push-pull config as that's moving air for the cupboard with my PS4 and such.
Thanks to all those that responded. If anyone else is reading my question with a similar query. There are essentially two ways to use save files from another account.
1) Re-sign the save file (see guide - newer resigning tool may be available)
2) Use Rebug's fakesave owner which I did no existed - see here
well then try to just have everything you like all together. like me, I have 3 consoles within 5 ft of my modem. I also have a line that runs through my basement for backyard wifi when the season is ripe. my wifi is also not amazing due to house construction. this problem is amplified if the room you are in was built as an addition to the main structure, more outside walls = less 2.4ghz penetration. and oh hey, since that option I said is one way or another off the table there are also powerline adapters that can be sourced https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009ZRBXMI/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?_encoding=UTF8&aaxitk=1c36eb64f416d948e3ca587694f899dc&hsa_cr_id=5386770240201&pd_rd_plhdr=t&pd_rd_r=83f9713f-4707-4113-9bfa-7fdff45157b6&pd_rd_w=2SyKH&pd_rd_wg=uRAmI&ref_=sbx_be_s_sparkle_mcd_asin_0_img&th=1 to wire your modem to ps3 through the house's romex wiring. it works great just like regular ethernet if you get a good powerline adapter, I linked a cheap one
In short, while the PS3 is quite powerful, it does not seem to have as much Homebrew developed for it as some other consoles.
And I don't think anyone's working on a project for streaming, at the moment, you could just hook up your PC to an HDMI splitter, and you could have the second cabled connected to a hdmi-Composite adaptor, this should have fairly low lag (much less than youtube/twitch)
But if you want something wireless, you may be able to find a Raspberry Pi for a reasonable price, on that you could run moonlight, steamlink or parsec, and the device can be connected to CRT.
Or if you have an nvidia GPU, you could look into moonlight, that's an opensource streaming client that can be ported to various consoles, and I think there's even a wiiu version (but I've never tested i)
I think there was a youtube app for ps3, but I don't know if it was ever updated for live-streaming or if it still works, but regardless, youtube streaming will always have some noticable form of delay.
When fat32 is needed on a drive UNDER 2tb (fat32's limit is 2tb) you can use rufus, which i consider a reputable tool to do so.
Rufus link
{first make sure you have all imprtant data off the usb because this will delete them, you can add them back after the format}
if you are using a external hdd instead of a big USB you need to select the box that says "List USB hard drives"
then from the top dropdown that says Device, select your usb stick/hdd.
then under boot selection select non-bootable (since you arent installing an OS) then under partition scheme check MBR then you should be able to add a name to it under label, and set the file system to fat32. it might say something like huge fat32, but thats ok too. then just click format!
i am typing this from memory so if i missed anything feel free to reply/dm me.
> That's pretty cool you're doing homebrew though,
Well, I'm not there yet. I'm unfortunately contented to just enjoy the PS3 as is since downgrading is actually a hassle. Now I'll probably just wait until YOLD, and once that happens I'll downgrade. I may pick up the equipment to downgrade now, though, since there's no telling when YOLD may strike and if it's too far in the future I could end up SOL on resources.
> there's a good community at ps3hax.net and playstationhax.it for that.
> If you want to do that, make sure that's the first thing you set up after you get on a CFW, because it's easiest to install by running the HDD partitioner.
I'll keep that in mind, thanks.
Previously:
> if you plan on dual-booting, so you can use OFW and CFW seperately ....
What are the reasons to dual-boot OFW and CFW?
> What sort of homebrew are you looking to make, by the way?
Mostly I just want to tinker with the parallel facet of the processor. I took this parallel programming course a few years ago (maybe a year, or few months, before I bought the PS3), and it made me realize my formal education had lacked a rigorous treatise on parallel programming. I already have GPUs with many 'cores', and a multi-core CPU, so I thought it would be a good idea to add a cell processor for better real world testing. To see how any algorithms I implement perform across the board, so to speak.
That course is pretty good, by the way. I only wish it taught OpenCL rather than CUDA.
> I'd give you my kidney if you made an N64 or DC emulator =P
Probably out of my skill set, but I do love to learn—and I did see a tutorial on writing a gameboy emulator in javascript (of all things, wtf). I always have wanted to write an emulator. Phantasy Star Online would be fun. But my DC still works ;-)
No one has ported any of the existing x86 N64 emulators? Huh....
Update: Sigh I ended up getting the BC PS3. Unfortunately when I got it home I realized it's an 80GB with the hybrid software emulation not the 60GB launch like it's box suggested. It's a CECHE not a CECHA. Would there be any significant difference in PS2 compatibility over just running CFW on a Slim? If not, I'm going to be returning it tomorrow. This weird middle ground emulation is harder to find info for. (I've come across this list.)[https://ipfs.io/ipfs/QmXoypizjW3WknFiJnKLwHCnL72vedxjQkDDP1mXWo6uco/wiki/List_of_PlayStation_and_PlayStation_2_games_compatible_with_PlayStation_3.html] It seems compatibility is alright, I'm curious if a config editor will improve compatibility even more. Any thoughts?
Hey man, so i had the same questions like you and i found this https://rpcs3.net/quickstart just go to the "one click easy solution" part, download "PS3 Disc Dumper by 13xforever" with that you can easily dump any ps3 bluray disc.
After dumping use the software "PS3 ISO TOOLS" to turn your dumped folder game into an ISO and then, in my case load it with webman on my external hdd.
Keep in mind that you'll need a compatible bluray reader/writer in order to do your dumps.
So far i've been doing my own dumps and isos with those programs and all good.
I found this and it claims to have ps3 audio to headset do you think it will work like my pulse 3d (as I said pulse 3d have dongle and it works 100%) https://www.amazon.sa/dp/B08FX7Y1N5/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_H8PTA9QT0G60N7NNWZ5P
If not can I get HDMI to bluetooth adapter or something
I will try the method you told me also
If nothing works I think I will try to crack the pulse 3d dongle to make it work with my BT
so do all that but go into safe mode to update, use the usb slot next to bluray drive, it deffo works, if not it could be your usb stick, you only want a 16gb and make sure it is formatted fat 32, use sd formatter ( https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/ )
plug your external HDD into your pc and download hard disk sentinel to check the drives health.
As far as black screening goes I ran literally all my games off the internal HDD. I ran into one game the black screened which was Call of duty MW3. I used multiman to convert it into an ISO then loaded it with webman and it loaded right up.
What is your router model? Documentation is here. You'll need to be at least somewhat comfortable with Linux to compile, configure and use it. And you'll need to include this package feed in the build.
hey there
ok so its been 3 month, any conclusions?
my friend have the same issue .
whats the final verdict ?

there is 2 version in http://the-eye.eu/alvro/Sony/PS3%20ISO/
NCAA_Football_14_BLUS31159.rar
NCAA Football 14 BLUS31159.zip
which of the 2 is the good one with out the blackscreen .
my friend is using HEN on a super slim (12gb) with multiman.
question is what should be done so the game can run properly?

If you have a laptop, you need a SATA to USB for the easiest method, but as long as you have a USB Drive, you can actually do this:
Use windows to download GPARTED
Make a bootable disk for Gparted ISO:
Format your USB as FAT32
Mount the ISO (Windows : Double click the iso)
Copy the insides of the ISO into the USB
Take out the HDD from your laptop and put in the PS3 Hard Drive
Boot the USB
When you get to the Gparted screen, make sure you select your disk on the right side of the window
Select the HDD, format to FAT32, and make sure you use MBR and not GPT
Natively yes, though there's no home button function, not all games work on it and it needs to be wired.
You'll want something like this if you don't wanna completely rely on the DS3 controller, though you'll still want to be wired. Tried it wirelessly before and I've noticed there's some perceptible lag, at least when it comes to rhythm games. The device works with either OFW or CFW.
Is this good? Western Digital 1TB WD Blue 3D NAND Internal PC SSD - SATA III 6 Gb/s, 2.5"/7mm, Up to 560 MB/s - WDS100T2B0A https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073SBQMCX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_1FRY25B859CAWW0X6BQH?psc=1
See here’s my problem, I’ll start from the top because its a little confusing.
The PS3 sat around, almost never used, just plugged in. When I turned it on for first time, it was way behind on updates, and was loaded with the previous owner’s son’s old junk. Little did I know how different the PS3 interface was than a PS4. I was a little overwhelmed.
Anyway, I could not get updates to work. PS3 refused to connect via WiFi. So then I tried ethernet, think I was still having issues. Decided, let me start over.
Well, I think its my fault the console is stuck on a loop because I decided to Format the original HDD. Of course, after it formatted it wanted to install an update. So now the PS3 which was never connected to my WiFi or ethernet was now trying to install the latest FW. It would say “ERROR CORRUPT 8002f1f0” at 62% everytime. Thus, the console restart and update endless loop was born.
So I found a video on Youtube detailing the solution.
1) Remove old HDD 2) Install new HDD ( I got this one, Western Digital 500GB 2.5" Playstation 3/Playstation 4 Hard Drive (PS3 Fat, PS3 Slim, PS3 Super Slim, PS4) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TIY4IHK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_YX7NV7CZ67ZFKT4WC7PS?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 )
3) Create a PS3>UPDATE>update file 4.88 on a USB thumb drive. Plug into PS3.
4) Turn on PS3, it found 4.88 to be corrupt. Others on this subreddit a year ago suggested downloading 4.87 from Softpedia instead. That worked.
So now the PS3 seemed happy. It accepted the file as valid, formatted the drive, I accepted Terms and Conditions, it starts updating…..47% I get the corruption error. So here I am again, in the same shoes I was before.
Tried everything. Cant access safe mode bc it goes straight into attempting the update upon Powering on. Tried USB port 2. Tried plugging in ethernet.
Im at a loss. Was going to try and wipe the new HDD somehow and try again. Though Im not sure the best approach at this point.
To get full functionality i bought one of these from amazon, it works perfectly thank god as getting a official ps3 controller thats brand new is getting to be very hard. As for the accessory i cannot comment as i do not have one sorry.
I followed this video when I upgraded my console years ago. https://youtu.be/PEYCT6WLeAI I used something similar to this hdd enclosure for the target hdd https://www.amazon.com/Neeyer-Hard-Drive-Enclosure-External/dp/B07QVCZQ7N/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?dchild=1&keywords=hdd+enclosure+2.5&qid=1623226937&sprefix=hdd+encl&sr=8-6
Try this.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TLBTXXJ/
Saves time...
Doesn't the PS3 need to communicate with the data line to charge? I tried charging my controllers on a wall adapter and that didn't work. I can see this mod ruining functionality. If charging still works, only benifit is using the new more ubiquitous cable. Adapter is cheaper than materials and time required for the mod.
Respect if you're adding a new charging circuit and battery (not enough space in the DS versions). Tinkering is fun, but in reality, should add it in addition to USB mini with a charge circuit hooked to a bigger battery <-- that would be an improvement.
I have a knockoff from Amazon and it works in Safe Mode.
Edit: Didn’t realize you’ve posted the same thing. Trust me. This works. I can guarantee it. I still have it. I bought 2 actually, but using one until it wears off, then I’ll switch to the other one.
https://www.amazon.com/PS3-God-War-Collection-sony-playstation3/dp/B008CP6MA2 just buy it new. It's three god of war and the two psp games as a downloadable code. Also you could use a dual boot ps3 setup to switch between ofw and cfw
TLDR: Ratchet and Clank, and a new lease of life thanks to thermal paste change / CPU de-lid.
I don't have a PS4 so haven't played the shoddy R&C reboot and I probably will never own a PS5 (already got a series X) but I DID have R&C 1, 2, Gladiator (Deadlocked), Tools of Destruction on PS2 / PS3. I'd been replaying a couple on PC through RPCS3 but not all PS3 titles are a pleasant experience and some don't run at all.
SO...
Dug out my loud AF phat PS3 (with software back-compat) and finally de-lidded the CPU. Thermal paste change under and on top of the heat spreaders and BAM! Silent operation at idle. Fan level one in heavy games ❤️
Grabbed a bigger HDD and CFW'd my PS3. Then, managed to install every R&C game from PS2 through PS3 right up to Nexus. I'm playing through every title from start to finish at the moment, some that I played as a kid, some I didn't, then going to go back and do the same on challenge mode.
Also, grabbed a new third party PS3 controller from Amazon, which is fantastic and feels identical to the original in terms of stick / button feel, so my PS3 feels like new again 😍 10/10 would recommend before they all disappear for good.
In that case I would get a simple one with a 3.5mm headphone input. I can't recommend a particular brand because I don't have one. You can plug the headphone jack straight into the TV, and maybe get a cable like this one in case you decide to use it with the RCA cables. Again, the TV might add a small amount of lag, but the biggest contributor will be the transmitter, the headphones or both.
If u want to run any I’d say just buy one of these to compensate for the extra power using one on my Wii U with no issues pretty good option when u don’t want external power. Last option internal HDD tbh I’m running a 1tb atm don’t see the need for more than that yet.
INSTEN Dual USB 3.0 Type A to... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005M0ICG2?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
any usb 3.0 stick will get you faster transfer speeds than that, around 50 mb/s upwards to 150mb/s when transfering from pc to stick, will be slower from stick to ps3, but should be still much faster than ftp, like i say i have a lot of games on my ps3 and transferring was much better option for me https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B015CH1PJU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 get one of these usb sticks 128gb usb 3.0 good make and on sale as well, i have bought 5 of them for friends and family over the last year
I got this 3rd Party Controller from Amazon. I used to have an Official Controller, but it had Issues, so I threw it away and finally found another one that works in Safe Mode.
Edit: I know that this has nothing to do with helping you with your Issue, but you can use that 3rd Party Controller as an Alternative. Hope it helps!
Well that sucks the seller duped you like that, sorry that happened to you but on the bright side you've got a jailbroken PS3 so welcome to the club!
To be fair though even if you'd gotten the 320GB drive I would have recommended upgrading anyhow just for convenience and luckily this 1TB refurb drive on Amazon is on sale for only $39.99 right now (or under $55 for it new here).
Which VPN do you have? I used NordVPN for a month or two and sometimes when I tried to sign in, I got a similar error code. It's possible you may just need to disconnect from the current server, connect to another and try again.
Will this one work ?
If not, can you point me to one that works best ? (preferably on amazon or ebay)

Another thing, is this (https://www.amazon.com/4-port-Expansion-Power-PlayStation-Playstayion-3/dp/B00A9LI2J6/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=usb+power+hub+ps3&qid=1559795024&s=gateway&sr=8-3) the only USB HUB PS3 recognizes (it looks official)? I've found less expensive ones and in one's case some users said it worked and other said it stopped working after some time.

there might be better option, but I use this and it works
yes it's an external one. I took the HDD off the case and installed it on my PS3
Nope. I only get slow transfer speeds when compared to my PC wired through Ethernet. Via mobile I get about 3 MBps, whereas over wire I get 11MBps.
I own a Samsung S8+, and I use IrisMAN on my PS3 and AndFTP client on my phone. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.
Edits: Turns out Blackb0xs FTP Server gave me problems with my phone, wich is weird, as I've already made some transfers. I changed it to IrisMAN, wich works great. Iris MANAGER should also work.
Not all USB chargers are the same, I have some chargers that will charge them, and others that won't. I'm not entirely clear what the difference is but ll the higher quality ones seem to work.
Or get a dock to keep them neat and charge them.
I'm using mm
how do i run prepNTFS? It is a new drive from amazon.......:<
I mean it's either too new or maybe needs a usb hub for power? I've tried so many scenarios and tests but nothing works. Thinking of just getting 1TB usbs

I don't believe there's any way to do this aside from a really long HDMI cable or one of those wireless HDMI transmitters
