I have to admit this update came out a bit half-baked. I wasn't able to include nearly as much cosmetics for the ARVN as I wanted to, but I decided to release them as-is instead of leaving the mod sitting utterly broken for any longer.
The next patch 2.3 will contain all the ARVN items I missed, plus a huge number of new cosmetics for the other Southern and Northern factions as well! Please take a look at the roadmap and tell me if you have any more ideas for (accurate and tasteful) customization items.
They are not holding off or limiting it... it just takes time, where do you think reload animations, sounds, code implementation, etc. come from? Edit: RO2 had 22 weapons and RS2 has 36 so thats quite nice... and here is their roadmap https://trello.com/b/pTmp5jlk/rising-storm-2%3A-vietnam-roadmap
Its on the roadmap: "We are tracking reports of hit registration issues but are looking for a 100% reliable reproduction to make this happen in house so we can debug exactly what is happening."
They will most likely release patch notes for the upcoming patch several days before it's scheduled launch, but at this point we don't even know the date. They are already late, but since there has been no communication lately it's hard to tell.
There is a roadmap available on Trello though: https://trello.com/b/pTmp5jlk/rising-storm-2-vietnam-roadmap
Note that the listed issues are only a tiny, tiny fraction of everything they need to fix.
u/stiopic a lot of the issues we have patched were impacting a significant amount of players. These were necessary to patch ASAP. Remember, there are various departments hard at work, so while bugs may be getting resolved, it doesn't mean work stops elsewhere :)
Be sure to check out the Vietnam roadmap to see upcoming content plans. This will be updated often so be sure to check back!

Yes, Rangers will receive both of those. Montagnards are on the to-do list, but I don't know when I'll get there.
To make the ARVN I took the NVA shirt, colored it green, put it on US pants, and then added some various camos. To make the helmets I simply added camo and emblems to the RS1 US helmet. And then to top it all off I gave them VC heads. The M113, was a heavily edited T-34. I even got the suspension working, however I couldn't figure out how to get character animations working, and it couldn't carry passengers. There was also the issue that the main material for tank tracks was deleted in RS2, so the treads didn't move. Also it had no sound because I couldn't figure out how to hook them up the terrible new audio engine.
With the ARVN update the devs have included a prototype M113 that is loads better than the one I made, so I'll definitely use it for the South Koreans in GOM 3.0 update, along with a special surprise...
From what I remember it is on the list of community requests they had on their trello (They're reformatting it so the link is gonna be private for a few days). But from what I've heard it's a lot harder than it sounds to put in the engine. For the past 6 months they've been focusing on releasing a finished, playable product. Now that they're post-release they can probably spend more time looking into stuff like this. I know your pain, I've been a big advocate in the past so here's to hoping they can get it working.
Ah, yes, I forgot, the game uses completely different code for online and offline, that's why every single other aspect of the game works exactly the same besides resupplies. Except it doesn't.
Here it is online in a match, same conditions, same process. Molotov still resupplies after 1 minute. https://www.kapwing.com/videos/5cef8d32a9e98f0014b8d650
I've gotten around this issue in other games and USB headsets by using Equalizer APO.

You can increase volume with this.

To make things clear, ComptactGUI is only a GUI for the Windows 10's new Compact feature written by /u/TheImminentFate. You can accomplish this from the command line but his software makes it very easy and intuitive. You can download it from his GitHub here.
The best part about it is so far there hasn't been any impact on performance. In fact, it's been widely reported as having faster load times and the compression can sometimes be insanely good. The best I've seen is upwards of 99%!
I'll be trying this out when I get home today for sure. I'm only worried about how this will work out when an update is released. Will it break the compression or will Windows automatically compress it into the current file?
It's not confirmed per se, but it is listed in the roadmap as a "likely feature" and it's a commonly requested amongst the community, so I assume it will be added at some point. https://trello.com/c/kISOdsrh/259-multiplayer-campaign-20
According to the Trello roadmap, the <em>prototype</em> rendering is complete but needs QA.
~~New renderer? Any posts about this you might be able to assist in directing me to?~~

They specifically state CPU optimizations. More than 2 cores, hell yeah.
There is an almost 100% chance we will see at least one more closed wave before release. However, I don't see any evidence for an open beta on the Trello roadmap. If there is any, can somebody point me to it?
Gameplay 1): Your approach is way too complicated for players to understand. The easiest approach would be to display notifications when people has spawned on him and a +3 teampoint award if they were spawned into an objective.
Gameplay 2): I don't agree with this. I like to have the opportunity to create a Marksman-Only Squad with friends for example. And it makes the whole Squad-Feature easy to use and uncomplicated. This is not worth it.
Gameplay 4): Spawning directly on the squad leader feels responsive for the squad leader and the squad members and it's the easiest solution. Sometimes it felt like it didn't even work correctly in RO2/RS. And again, it is easier to understand in RS2.
Gameplay 6): I agree with this.
Weapons 1): The PPsh is very easy to handle in RL. The depiction in RS2 is quite realistic actually. But it wouldn't hurt to increase the recoil to balance the game.
Weapons 2): Claymores in RS2 useless?! Oh boy, please take a look at this video. You don't know the full potential I assume.
Weapons 4): The current content in the beta is the content aimed for release. More weapons will come but post-release. ANZAC and ARVN Content updates are planned.
Graphics/Performance 1): I agree that TWI/AMG need to find a solution for this and it is a highly debated issue. But it's quite hard to blur the sights realistically when aiming. That's why widen the holes would be the easy option.
Performance for me has massively improved since release, this is one of the only games I can run at 60 fps/4k with a 980 ti full ultra settings and sweetfx smaa rather than the games rather shitty fxaa. I also force AO via nvidia so I can use HBAO. If you are having such bad performance issues I suggest deleting your configuration files and try settings your settings again.
See here for where they are located:
https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Rising_Storm_2:_Vietnam
TLDR: Delete the files located here: %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Rising Storm 2\ROGame\Config
This is the image https://i.imgur.com/Rbjz2ma.png Kinda blurry because they were under fire at that exact moment.
Also I believe you can bypass those restrictions by using hooktube https://hooktube.com/watch?v=89_3DgW_7mg
so i believe this is working for me. i found these instructions to make it easier for you.
Dowload Equalizer APO here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/equa...
Install
In the installation folder you will find a program called "Configurator". Open it
You will see two tabs. Playback devices and Capture devices. Find your headset in the capture tab and check the little box then press Ok. It will ask you to restart and do it.
After restarting go to the Equalizer directory again and in the file "config" you will find a text file called "config". Open it and in this file you can change the level of the devices you ticked in the configurator program.
Zy: So that's what I did, and my config.txt now has this in it:
Device: Headset Earphone Corsair VOID RGB USB Gaming Headset {b085f199-043d-4e5a-b6bb-0c772e15358f} Preamp: 0 dB ; Device: Headset Microphone Corsair VOID RGB USB Gaming Headset {4dacf688-b34e-4a4c-b013-5f296c61637e} Preamp: 15 dB
Nah man, your info is just outdated. Check it here: https://trello.com/b/pTmp5jlk/rising-storm-2-vietnam-roadmap
It's official RS2 roadmap. Spec Ops factions are on "Possible future features". So they're not confirmed yet and it's unknown if they will come, but they are considered.
there's pretty limited official servers but there are way too many player run servers, so unless you live somewhere really obscure you shouldn't have trouble finding a server.
as far as maps and content go there is this: https://trello.com/b/pTmp5jlk/rising-storm-2-vietnam-roadmap that should give you a rough guidline to when content will come.
all in all the games is pretty cheap compared to most and it is a lot of fun. I have played near nothing else since it came out (though I was quite into on red orchestra and had been looking forward to this since I heard it was coming)
Edit: the main thing to note on that road map is Q3 2017: TARGET is to add one or more new maps/variant modes of maps
I'm always surprised to see people discussing this, while not knowing about the Trello roadmap.
https://trello.com/b/pTmp5jlk/rising-storm-2-vietnam-roadmap
Look under "Possible Update Content" and upvote 3D Positional Voip.
I believe that the issue is rendering related and that the August patch should solve the issue by moving the rendering load to the GPU.
https://trello.com/c/91WEQNse/70-major-cpu-rendering-path-optimization-prototype
Because soon players will be able to use their own voice (See "Possible update content").
3D Positional VOIP has recently been moved over from the Community Requests section.

Yeah they'll probably fix it with this update but I wanted to see if anyone else had the stuttering to the same extent as me.
Its probably caused by those 2 threads that are bouncing off 100% usage and the rest of the cores/threads idling for the most part.
Really needs to be fixed, its hard to test for any of the other bugs like hit detection or server desync when the client itself is all over the place.
The trello board includes 'Additional Maps' alongside ANZAC and ARVN units in the 'Post Release Updates' list... So yes it looks like there will be. https://trello.com/b/pTmp5jlk/rising-storm-2-vietnam-closed-beta-roadmap
Do you mean this?
Q: Will There Be An Open Beta?
A: Yes, we plan to have a short open beta before launch to help us stress test any last changes focused around hardware for both clients (performance) and servers (load and performance).
Where did I say there will not be an open beta before release for STRESS testing.
Have a look at the road map https://trello.com/b/pTmp5jlk/rising-storm-2-vietnam-closed-beta-roadmap
Still things to be done before the final stress testing. Yellow ones are in development currently.
Now show WHERE they said the 7th wave was the final closed beta?? Learn to read.
TBH, I wouldn't mind having LZ smoke removed. It's such a buried mechanic that I can say I've seen it maybe a dozen times in 100's of hours of play.
By chance have you played the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series of games? The binoculars in those games have a functionality similar to what I'm trying to suggest here. But more focused on the center of the binocs so you have to actually look at someone. The video on this page shows it about halfway through. The faint grey boxes.
It's about $54 USD from UK amazon but your dvd player has to be able to play that region of dvd. I imagine you could put in your computer's dvd player and rip it to you hard drive and then watch it on your tv with the free Plex app.
You can have a capable gaming PC for <$400
It really depends on what your budget is and what you want, but the SHP 9500s (when they're on sale for 50-70 dollars at newegg) coupled with a mod mic are a great entry level pair. Coupled with something like this cheap dac and you're golden. If you prefer closed back like the turtle beach (last time I saw one they were closed) you can go for Takstar 82 Pro or ATH M40x.
Open to suggestions? I used to play with this Red Dragon; nice and light, comfy palm grip and there are DPI settings are from 800-3200. I've since gotten myself a Logitech G502 with even more DPI setting options and more button to use, though it also weighs and costs more. I got mine at Best Buy for $30 on sale, but I really like this mouse so I got another one for my brother.
Studio quality frequency response, long battery life (50hrs), Bluetooth, good reviews, seems to be in your price range. Can't speak to the quality of the mic, but I'm sure it does the job. The only minuses was the weird charging situation and some build quality issues that honestly are always present on wireless and even wired headphones in this price range. Cheers
I'm sure logicalincrements has something useful. I got mine during the November sales for like $200 flat. It's an excellent drive but it's pretty pricy when its not on sale (and even when it is).
Personally, I'd wait till November since things will be on sale and in RS2: Vietnam every slot fills up in 5 seconds anyway so you're just taking a gamble you get your preferred slot anyway with or without a SSD. It does make gaming pretty great in general though - you will never bottleneck because of a hard drive.
