Disney Zootopia: School Days (Younger Readers Graphic Novel)
So this is the 3rd book in the series, set to be released on October 22, 2019. The first has already been released and the second should be out around July, I think.
Recommendations:
Guardian Blues by Alps Sarsis
Most recent update is Season 2: Chapter 20 The entire series is fantastic, Sarsis captures the characters of the movie very well. The best slow burn fic I've read.
Under Grace by SarcasmIsOurStrength, Nehkles, and Whatabummer
Glad to be able to post this one again. They just updated after a long while, but it's a great AU with well done characters.
>As when Sunderance was cancelled, I wanted to delve into another project. While this may not be the safest choice for all ages, I figured this particular fanfiction was great and light-hearted enough to merit the effort of a comic. However, since those plans have been scrapped, I would at least like the chance to tribute this awesome little "mating" story. :)
>I haven't done anything WildeHopps related to the canon in a while (Gasp! Can you believe that?!), and I am not entirely happy with the results. But regardless, I hope this little tribute pleases the writer.

Grey Fur by Me.
Synopsis: One fox's a comin', a sweet melody he's hummin'. Claws sharp and rife, ready to take your life. A pair of piercing eyes, scope out your stupid lies. With nothing left to deter, stay wary of the grey fur.
Summary: When the world takes something from you that meant everything, how far will one fox go to take everything that holds special value from the world? The colours are beginning to fade. The silence will start to fall.
A/N: I've added this twice now and the first time I wasn't happy with what I was making. The reboot will hopefully solve my issues with story telling. It is fair to note this is still on its first chapter as I'm still looking to craft the second chapter as I post this. If the more darker stories around Zootopia are your thing, I'd like to think this fic is for you.
And now Chapter 5 of Major Crimes: Triad by me is available.
Read Breaking Badger on AO3 and also on FF.NET.
To my knowledge, JiD actually has a bit of a bad rep around here. My own opinions being super mixed, as well.
For starters, If I recall correctly, a lot of people heavily criticized how Nick was depicted throughout the majority of the story. Let's just say for some very similar reasons I had to go through, I actually found his character more relatable than I'd like to have. The art, coloring, and shading were great and really helped establish Mead as a force in the fandom. And I don't care what y'all think, I friggin' love Kat.
But there are a lot of plotholes and general nuances that keep me from really liking it. I still find it incredibly odd that considering how ~~notorious~~ ^^EDIT: ^^Whoops! ^^Was ^^that ^^the ^^wrong ^^word ^^or ^^hwhat. ^^Stupid ^^sleep-deprived ^^brain. reputable ^^that ^^should ^^be ^^better Judy was in life, that her family wouldn't celebrate her more and that July had no idea who Nick even was to her. That and the part you stated did get a bit soured to me; I think if it were Judy telling him his time wasn't up yet, I think it'd come across a lot better.
But hey, important thing is you really enjoyed it, right? Just don't be too surprised if a bunch of other conflicting opinions come in here...
Something else I suppose I could mention in regards to my experience with it is that the shitposts Mead did of his own work (kudos to him for that, he actually took a lot of the criticisms very well and got a laugh or two out of everything, himself) actually got me into thinking and writing my own (shameless plug) satirical/shitpost take on deathfics. So... there's that, I guess.
A Moment of Hesitation by me
A very short story about fear, hesitation and self-doubt. Set some time after the movie.
^(Basically the first fiction, fan or otherwise, I have ever posted.)
Hi /r/Zootopia!
As the title has said, our stream has decided to watch Zootopia on its 1st Anniversary, and have thought that it would be awesome if we invited you over too!
Who are we? Well, the stream was originally set up by a few people from /r/Frozen ^(^looks ^around ^nervously) in 2014 but we really like all things Disney (and everything else!). We would really love if you could come along to our stream! We air a lot of Disney movies, TV shows, games and other fun stuff, anything really.
Feel free to stop by and chat, be it about the movie or anything else! We're cool we swear!
We will be watching Zootopia on 4 March, on 8pm CET, 8pm EST and 8pm PST, followed immediately by some deleted scenes! We may also be watching the other language versions of Zootopia the next day.
Also, don't worry if you missed out on anything! We would be more than happy to accept requests!
BTW: If you don't know what Cytube is, it is a place with a chatroom and synchronised streaming where anyone can join, and is a fun and wonderful place to share and watch videos together, and talk about anything under the sun!
Just realised I never posted Chapter 4 of Major Crimes: Triad by me here.
https://archiveofourown.org/works/13424232/chapters/30763599 https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12806751/4/Major-Crimes-Triad
Chapter five should follow in the next day or so.
Just go under the tag and search for yourself. There are too many to count.
It´s eerily similar to this piece of shit I posted some time ago:
Audacity is actually free guys. You can download it from SourceForge or Audacity. I would download it from SourceForge due to Fosshub being compromised.
Start by reading u/kittah4's Partners series. It is the best story to start by reading, along with all of Kittah4's works. u/shippingmammals' The Fox and the Rabbit series is great if you ship WildeHopps but is largely a 'slice of life' series, it's what got me into the fandom.
Linking you stuff is kinda difficult without knowing what you like. Do you ship wildehopps? Do you like more mature and serious themes? Just a couple of things you're looking for would be helpful. The stories I've linked are WildeHopps fluff cause that's what most people like.
We also have a wiki on the sidebar for the most popular fanfictions.
An Amazon customer modified a Hallmark Keepsake ornament of Nick and Judy to make this wedding cake topper.
Customer's review: > Bought one for Christmas, loved it so much bought another for our wedding. After nail polish and a piece of my mother wedding dress, this made the perfect wedding cake topper<3
Deputies by RedPen https://archiveofourown.org/works/11367210/chapters/29587497 Just a heads-up that I did some work for the What If collaboration where Judy and Nick are Wild West deputies facing down an infamous gang of villains - 2 chapters of action-oriented story,
What could have been.
Basically, it's a plot outline for the first interpretation of the movie. Would've focused more on Nick than it would Judy. Shock collars were a thing put on predators to regulate their emotions because they were still seen as... "primitive," I guess. Much darker, less optimistic tone than what we ended up with.
The closest thing we have to a fully-fleshed out interpretation of it is JShuteNorway's wonderful recreation fic, if you're interested in it. Or if you're in the mood for something a bit bleaker, there's always Zistopia.
"bellwether" 1. a wether or other male sheep that leads the flock, usually bearing a bell. 2. a person or thing that assumes the leadership or forefront, as of a profession or industry: Paris is a bellwether of the fashion industry. 3. a person or thing that shows the existence or direction of a trend; index. 4. a person who leads a mob, mutiny, conspiracy, or the like; ringleader.
One of the lesser recognized "pun" names in Zootopia, appropriate on several levels! (Also: a wether is specifically a castrated male... does that imply that Bellwether was trans? A born male but dressed and identified as female? If so, that's gotta be a first for Disney, and so subtle)
Well, Judy and Nick make for a perfect team, after all, rivaled only by Mickey Mouse and his friends piloting this.
I usually plan out as much as I can beforehand. But I can never predict how the story will start to shape once those words become reality.
If you're looking for more help into the writing process itself, I highly recommend Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott or Stephen King's On Writing. And not just you, OP, if anyone aspiring writers are present, pick up these books. They'll help. Trust me.
Well, I very rarely find myself so passionate about any pairing, but when I do... It's a very all or nothing affair for me. Time and distance make me a little less extreme in reacting to opposing/competing storylines. But you like what you like, you know?
I know of the other fanfiction sites, and AO3 has a robust tagging system, but that does ironically make systematic tagging really hit or miss as the tags can be so personalised. But other than Fanfiction.net, I don't interact with the others, like Wattpad or livejournel.
Oh, if you want a way to download fics off Fanfiction.net try this program ;FanfictionDownloader. Here is the CNET link, there is a website for a direct download, here but you don't know me from harry, so I thought offering a semi legit channel was prudent. I do use the application, its capable of saving stories off fanfiction.net in a wide range of formats (PDF, Mobi, Epub, TxT, Docx) and it keeps the author information intact, saving story and author links in the downloaded file.
Maybe Year of Discovery by ADeadMissionary would be something that you are interested in? I can't think of any other ones off the top of my head. Plus ADeadMissionary is a great storyteller!

I think I've got just the one, not nearly as... sexy as what you described, but batshit nonetheless. 190+ plus chapters of I have no idea what the fuck is going on, and I don't think the writer does, either. Maybe it was morbid curiosity or it just fell into the "so bad it's good" category for me, but for whatever reason, I spent close to seven hours reading it from start to finish on first look, and I keep coming back to it every update.
To be fair though, I'm 99-ish% convinced English isn't their first language, but damn if that plot isn't a mess of things regardless.
I suppose I could also throw some shade at myself, as well. Once college and my mental gymnastics stop being such a damn chore, I might actually get to sit down and update this garbage and possibly put some work into other fics I've had brewing. Gotta live up to that flair somehow, right?
The Perfect Vixen by me, CluelessCombination
In which Nick Wilde learns a little bit about himself through matters of the heart.
Judy is just here to smooth out the aftermath.
First time writing fanfiction!
With that requisite forewarning aside, I'd love for anyone to drop in and give me their criticism, even if you think it's garbage. Any and all criticism is welcome. Think my writing style blows? Let me know. Don't agree with the flow? Let me know. Want to write an essay outlining why I should never ever touch a keyboard ever again? Be my guest.
Hope you enjoy!
Not my work!
<strong>It's Tradition</strong> by pretty_ok
Judy didn't know what she was getting into when she asked Nick about fox Thanksgiving traditions.
It's soon thanksgiving, hence I'm plugging this one-shot. First and foremost it's a comedy and it does have a lot of funny moments, but for some of you it might also be a little bit too morbid, so be aware of that. It also has a bit of a serious side to it, too. Judy is learning of a whole new thing about her fox, that she has to process.
I really do hope we get to see a follow-up at some point.
I have to be careful though. My home library already has over 3,000 books in it...I might be getting close to the weight limit for the floor.
I'm with you regarding integrating the art into the final product.
Perhaps use a proper distribution site like fanfiction.net or archiveofourown.org? That way us readers can actually follow you as an author and get email updates of when you post new chapters or stories. Unless you already have, in which case a link would be appreciated.
With that out of the way, this is written quite well. Maybe a little overly descriptive in some scenes, but for me that's a plus- some people might be put off by that.
A fanfic WriteAnon wrote you mean. (the same person writing this, Mead's doing art) It's got it's fair share of dark to it. And by fair share of dark, I mean, Jesus H. Christ, why is Finn a thing that exists.
Assuming you haven't read it, ya' gotsta' read it. It's good.
Just looked through her page. Please for the love of God say this is satire. She managed to make a review of La La Land a rant about how being proud of 'white heritage' is racist. She describes Ryan Gosling as a "known Caucasian". These people make my head hurt.

22nd of December EDIT: It finally updated. I did it. MOM GET THE CAMERA. WE MADE IT.
So, I've posted in the last 2 fanfic megathreads, but I think it also deserves a spot here, especially since it has turned out to be pretty dark. So if you want to read it's posted in these 2 places:
It's still ongoing, almost reaching chapter 20 in a bit more than a month of development. It has blood, violence, mature themes and overall a pretty bleak situation following the events of the movie.
I'm pretty proud of it and everyone that has read through it has enjoyed, so I think I'm doing the right thing.
The first few chapters aren't all that great, since it is my first story ever, but they still hold up pretty well when it comes to character interactions / setup / worldbuilding.
Once I reach chapter 20 I'll do a massive pass across the entire story up to this point to squish out some errors and add / fix some things.
The story turned drastically by chapter 8, with a lot of changes to the villain(s?) and a new emphasis on character studies.
This was going to be a very short fic, I would have probably finished it by now if I didn't dive so deep in the characters motivations and psique after that point.
As the reviews of my latest chapter that ends on a pretty fucked up cliffhanger:
"Uh-Oh"
"Shit"
"Ah! Cliffhanger!
Keep up the good work!"
So yeah, I humbly offer my fic to be torn apart by you.
Also: No character is safe from having their minds shattered by the events of the story. It's not a foreshadow, just a fact.
Here's the full text of the chapter it's illustrating if anyone wanted to have a read. I'd never read it before seeing this image, it seems to be pretty well written :)
Together With Eyes Undimmed, or Falke's ongoing drabble pile.
This is - or will be - an open-ended collection of one-shots and other short stories. Expect mostly Nick/Judy shipping, original characters, occasional suggestive content, occasional violence, and probably some fun AUs.
This first one is about pillow talk and is suggestive.
These are typically written as I have the interest or time, so I can't promise regular updates. You can track my progress on these and other stories on my writeblog.
I don't think have enough info on it yet. But I do find the Amazon description worrying. At least we might get more story on Nick.
I'm lookin around on Amazon for you, I did find Judy but there doesn't seem to be one of them both together.
Hm that seems reasonable. But assuming that there is only artwork in there, how exactly is it only aimed at kids? I mean, the illustrations clearly show scenes from the movie, and we all know that there were more than a few scenes that only adults and people watching it way more than once would get.
However, upon searching for it on amazon I also stumbled over a "Art of Zootopia" book, that seems to have really nice insights of the developement of the movie itself, and a lot of artwork and illustrations in there.
I guess that would be worth the few bucks more than the Golden Book, I guess. It also doesn't seem to be aimed at kids. Looking forward to holding it in my hands once I can afford it (probably next month though) :)
BTW: You mentioned that there were several posts here about the Golden Book (I only saw a few as I just joined 3 weeks ago), but were there any about the "Art of Zootopia" one? Because if not, I may post some of that content for you when I finally own one.
It's a one-shot that I submitted to one of the anthologies, and also included as the last chapter in my Plot Bunny series:
Edit: Also while not absolutely necessary, if you've read my first two fanfics some of the references and the Holly OC will make more sense.
Err, sure.
You Play Me, Now I Play You Too The first one.
Do You Still Believe in Love I Wonder? The second one.
This isn't my first fiction, but this is my first Zootopia fanfic. Animals. https://archiveofourown.org/works/14224674/chapters/32795076 It's kind of like a "spin-off", taking place in a separate city with all new characters, with nods here and there to the original movie. I don't update too often but I'm hoping to get better in writing as I progress through the year.
I'm 22. Originally from Nebraska in the US. In my final year at college right now and extremely busy. Work as a software developer at the moment. In what little free time I have now since the semester started I browse here and if I'm lucky get time to post (like now!). Otherwise, I do play Xbox and I am looking forward to Halo 5's next update: Anvil's Legacy and Destiny's next expansion: Rise of Iron.
If you're logged in into Tumbler, you can use this link which will turn the post into a sliding panel, easier to see who posted what.
The one writing "SOMEONE DRAW NICK LIKE THIS WITH JUDY’S REACTION" was 'nickwildeandjudyhoppsaremyotp' as can be seen here.
To *that* prompt, blueironlily responded with:
So, I'd say that the evidences are very strong for the drawing to be blueironlily's :-)
By the powers of Google and the spirit of shipping. Here is the "initial" source the original artist who posted on Twitter got his stuff deleted/terminated presumably

Change Starts With Us by hannahberrie
I know you were talking about Megan, I'm just comparing your description of her to Judy, and that is far from what I'd call dangerous. I'd think the whole blackmailing Nick, teasing him outside the Naturalist club ("If only there were a moron around up to the task... So can you run the plate or not?") fits the teasing description pretty damn well.
Messing around is a bit for vague for my liking. The first thing that springs to mind is that it's a euphemism for making out, which according to thesaurs.com's synonyms and related words(fooling around; dalliance) hits the mark. So either you mean you like Megan because, on top of being teasing (like Judy) and sassy (like Judy) she and Nick played sucky-face with each other in some fic or fan art (like Judy x1billion), or you're using mess around in a different manner than most would.
It was amusing to realize that "pop culture isolation" hit me: I totally missed the iPhone references, because I had never owned one. I wonder how common this was among non-American viewers, because Apple is a niche luxury brand in most of the world.
On the other hand, I don't suppose others here have noticed this: in the poster, Nick, Bogo, and Lionfart carry phones very similar to the Motorola Droid Turbo.
Trickster's Сreed by me.
Action, adventure, bromance.
Crossover with "Assassin's Creed" and "Robin Hood" (Disney animated film, 1973).
- Summary: Abstergo Corporation kidnaps Finnick in order to find something important in the memory of his distant ancestor. Police detective Nick Wilde tries to save his old friend, but he doesn’t know yet what grim secrets are hiding behind the Abstergo façade, and what dangers are waiting for him in the reanimated images of a thousand-year-old past.
For those unfamiliar with Assassin's Creed universe:
Animus is a virtual reality machine which allows to read a subject's genetic memory, to access memories of subject's direct ancestors. Abstergo Corporation uses it to find powerful relics which were hidden somewhere hundreds of years ago. Usually they simply kidnap suitable subjects in order to cover their tracks.
It was one of the first headcanons in my story Zootopia AU: Predation.
Main story starts here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/7590514/chapters/17271760
The Nocturnal District description starts here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/7590514/chapters/17821927
I still need to continue writing it, but it was so much fun to think of what the district could hold in it ^_^
I agree. I'm still fleshing out stuff for rodents, but the Central Spire would have to accommodate them as well. If it can fit two elephants, then it can fit hundreds of rodents.
> YOUR ZOOTOPIA DNA IS A COMBINATION OF NICK WILDE, FINNICK, JUDY HOPPS, AND ASSISTANT MAYOR BELLWETHER!
> You have Nick Wilde’s sly sense of humor, Finnick’s rambunctiousness, the morality of Judy Hopps, and Assistant Mayor Bellwether’s creativity. You’re intelligent and thoughtful, as well as strong-willed and opinionated, which makes for an intriguing personality. You aren’t afraid to fight for what you believe in, and you do so with striking humor and profound creativity, which people cannot deny the genius of.
Huh... all things considered, <em>(shameless plug, shameless plug)</em> I guess that's kind of interesting. I think that last parts a bit open to interpretation, but I'm okay with that.
That's Guardian Blue! Give me a second to link it real fast!
Ao3 series link includes a couple one shots written before, and the ongoing sequel.
Assuming you are referring to the fic that I think you are, then considering this FAQ entry I sincerely doubt that it violates any of AO3's policies.
>I really hope not; it would really sadden me to know that this kind of content is accepted/the norm on the AO3.
Well considering that this is the first time I really remember seeing a fic marked underage in Zootopia (although looking at the search bar, there are 8 marked with that tag) it clearly isn't the norm. As for accepted? Depends on if you define that as "accepted with open arms" or "allowed to exist".
If you actively wish to avoid seeing them in the future, you can use the procedure described here to prevent them from showing up to you.
Please note that Guardian Blue has just been updated with a brand new Chapter 7 due to a retcon. :)
RIP former narrative arc in the Interior. :'(
What I meant was only three people on FF have left anything on it, AO3 sides been getting more support than I had ever anticipated with it, given its subject matter.
Anyways, if you're really interested, here you go. Fair warning, it's nowhere near complete and pokes a lot of fun at a touchy subject. Other, much less depressing and sarcastic works are still in development hell right now.
On the fanfic side of things, I recommend anything by kittah4.
There's also my story, Lost Causes and Broken Dreams. There's a big caveat though. It's not a happy story, and it very much earns the tragedy label. If you enjoy medical and scientific drama, give it a shot.
Have a copy+paste from the May thread!
It Was Nice Knowing Us written by OoskieDoosk (dats me!)
Summary from AO3: In a brief moment of… panic, the fox she was trapped in with stopped trying to pull open the cell door and instead propped himself up against a comically oversized toilet while he ranted about death. And then, an idea. Knowing full well that the fox was going to friggin’ hate it was irrelevant. “Can you swim?”, asked the rabbit. “What?! ‘Can I swim?’ Yes, I can swim!”, lied the fox, agitated by the seemingly meaningless question.
Basically, this is a retelling of the second half of the movie in which both Judy and Nick die during the events at Cliffside and resume taking on the Nighthowler case as ghosts. I wouldn't really call it an angst fic, but there's plenty of it early on, mixed in with a lot of snark and half-baked metaphors.
This is my first fic in the fandom, as well as the first bit of creative writing I've put any serious time or effort into in several years, so... yeah. Don't expect a masterpiece or anything. Some people seem to like it so far, though...
ANYWAYS, here it is.

Sidenote, this has been a work in progress since November and still isn't anywhere close to being done yet. Just thought it was something worth mentioning should you choose to check it out.
Will update with chapter 6 soon-ish. If not this weekend, then next.
Hm, you could be right. To the internet!
Looks like it can be used in reference to a prickling or thrilling sensation since at least 1848. Now whether that had other (i.e. lewd) connotations, that's a harder question to answer - though given human nature, that wouldn't surprise me ;)
Less amusingly, but probably more likely, Tingle is apparently an old English family name for a maker of small nails or pins, or a nickname for a small, thin man (I guess because of the resemblance to a nail?)
Friend of mine wrote some supplemental stuff.
Also Boney_M, author of Winter Snuggles, wrote some lewd stuff about it.
https://archiveofourown.org/works/7218175 (Definitely NSFW)
I consider neither of these canon, but the characterization is good enough that it can be.
Zootopia: Project Parity by Questing (Identify_the_feel, working title)
Summary: (Work in progress summary) Nick and Judy's feelings for eachother come to a head, and they try to strike the delicate balance between work and personal life, especially after being reassigned to the ZPD's elite, the Zootopia Covert Urban Operations Taskforce, a hard-hitting top secret special operations unit. Dealing with emotions, as it turns out, can be just as difficult as dealing with bigtime criminals in Zootopias underbelly.
Authors Note: My newest fanfiction, still a serious work in progress. Looking for notes and suggestions. This is an immediate continuation of the movie, with a focus on realism, emotion, action. Definitely will not be for kids, I have preemptively marked it Explicit. 3rd chapter is in the works currently, 4th is planned and outlined, 5th is planned. Enjoy!
AO3: https://archiveofourown.org/works/7504288/chapters/17058184
Cartoon Network enthusiasts' FusionFall Legacy and the MLP community's Legends of Equestria are both fan-made games - maybe there are enough Zootopian programmers around to start our own open-world project?
>it doesn't tell you when your reposting something anymore
It does but only when you use the same URL. You linked from https://www.deviantart.com/art/Zoo-of-the-Rings-711457367 while the original post linked from https://soutch.deviantart.com/art/Zoo-of-the-Rings-711457367
DeviantArt redirects your link to the south.deviantart.com page for the art but reddit does not recognize those two sites (south.deviantart.com and deviantart.com) as the same page. Same goes with youtube videos; if there's any alteration in the URL (like setting it to start later in the video to get right to the point you want people to see) reddit will not see that URL as the same as the direct URL and not consider it a repost.
Oh that's no problem. I mentioned it in case whoever did it didn't know how.
This is free: https://www.gimp.org
What you can do is take the original comic and copy it to a layer. It's probably easiest to isolate the text before the rest of it. Make sure it has transparency so right click the layer and Add Alpha Channel if needed. Then right click it and click to add a layer mask. Choose "Grayscale copy of layer" and make sure the Invert check box is checked.
Now make sure to click the image and not the layer mask (the left thumbnail of the layer in the layers list - the right should look black). Select all and delete it, and then fill it with pure black.
The layer should now act as a floating black and white copy that lets colors underneath it bleed through, so the colored version with the German text removed should go under that layer with the 'floating' text.
You did a good job. I only really noticed it for the first part. I hope I described that well and it's useful. I'm not an artist but I have messed with images a bit in GIMP, enough to learn that trick for coloring "under" grayscale lines. It's a heck of a lot easier than trying to manually overlay something that used to be over white over another color.
I hesitated to order it, since I wasn't sure if there was new content or just a rehash of the same story in a format that isn't likely to come close to the movie visually.
I decided to place the order when someone in another thread mentioned that about 80% was new content. It's supposedly restocking on Amazon today (or so it said when I placed the order), and free shipping can take time, so it might be a bit before it's in my paws.
The second link you have there looks like it's JUST the retelling of the movie. I'm not sure if it's the same as the "Cinestory", which some reviewers found disappointing, but it seems to be a different price and cover.
Yes! The stories are fun and the book has traces of world building. It comes with the graphic novel of the movie and some short stories that take place before and after the movie. Be warned though, the printing quality is not the best because the paper is like newsprint and it crackles when you turn the pages. It also washes out the colors. I still love it for the stories alone and you can get it here if you are interested. . . https://www.amazon.com/Disney-Zootopia-Graphic-Novel/dp/1772751774
I always push would-be authors to read his "On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft" - The audio book version is even better because King narrates it himself. Half humorous life story, half writing advice. Good stuff.
It really depends on what kind of person you are, honestly. Are you someone who is nearly OCD and had to organize everything, or someone who is more laid back? My own writing process is similar to what some authors do (Stephen King comes to mind) and that is writing in an organic style.
The way I write - I have a general idea of the story arc and where it is going, I have key scenes I want to have, but the actual writing is more letting the characters loose and watching what they do, and writing it down while keeping them more or less in the confines of the story arc.
That's putting it kind of simply, but that's as close as I come to putting down how I do it. The drawback to this style is that the story tends to be long and drawn out - Characters do not always do what you expect them to do and it can be hard to know when to time skip, and when to document everything that is going on. For example in my last chapter of The Fox and the Rabbit there is a scene where Nick and Judy are meeting a large group of Judy's familing/sibblings and are basically standing around mingling for an hour or so. I could have gotten into several thousands of words talking about various conversations they had etc., but instead I just summed up what happened in a single paragraph.
If you're really serious on writing I highly recommend you pick up 'On Writing - A Memoir of the Craft' by Stephen King. Better yet get the Audiobook version from Audible as King narrates it himself. It's half (Often very funny) life story, and half writing guide and I find it very motivational.
The Atlas of Human Anatomy for the Artist is one of the few books that can get you drawing better.
You should also get a Wacom Bamboo if you want to go digital; it's cheap and already good for starters. Get a good hang of it before upgrading. Took me a few years of using the Bamboo, the Intuos, before jumping into the Cintiq series.
Try other traditional medium as well; gouache colors have always been a personal favorite.
i would avoid everything by cheetah mobile, most of it is just placebo to get youo to look at ads, use sd maid if you REALLY need the extra mbs but really theres no need
Bonus thoughts:
Just found it. Neat. I wonder why they made it look so swords and sorcery.
I'll just insert <strong><em>'Pack Streets'</em></strong> by Weaver here, Really worth a check out but a little slow at the start, Rating MA15+ humor if you ask me, and fortunately doesn't touch any of the points you bring up (follows zootopia timeline though, won't spoil it though).
Also there was a OC based on that tiger and rabbit lady on the train (funny setup, but bit worth it).
I'm happy to help! I really enjoy character studies so they make up a lot of my bookmarks! While it's not entirely in the hurt/comfort genre, the first fanfiction I ever read was "Cause I've Been Thinking" by thoseotherthings. If you haven't read that you definitely should!
https://archiveofourown.org/works/6283996
I'd love to hear what you think of them!
i would also reccomend Pastoral like /u/PullTogether did
but i have one as well.
Dreams by SophieRipley
it is a bit of a different fic that without spoiling much follows an alternative interpretation of the movie in Judy's PoV as a one-shot
one of my favorite sadfics besides Pastoral
But that's the thing. A lot of people have said exactly that because the movie supposedly justifies prejudice according to them. For the longest time, one of the first results on Google when you search "Zootopia" was a rather infamous article by a self-identified liberal who claimed the movie "gets racism wrong" and is therefore too conservative because of that. It may be a hard pill for someone like you to swallow, but I've seen countless people like that who routinely call the movie "racist" and "sexist" because of its politically incorrect message about how all people can be subject to prejudice rather than just a privileged few. And yes, I've even seen terms like "didactic" get thrown around by these people before, especially regarding the film's portrayal of the police (https://letterboxd.com/glazomaniac/film/zootopia/).
Also, treating Donald Trump like the prime example of American conservatives is like treating Pluto like the prime example of a planet. Technically, you're not completely wrong, but it's not really an accurate judgement. Donald Trump's stances differ from those of traditional conservatives so much that it's not really fair to lump him with them. You can disagree with his politics all you want, but rebuilding already-existing border walls and reinforcing proper background checks on people with potential ties to deadly extremists does not equate to being racist. He's more of an independent politician than anything else, so you might want to think twice before using one person as an excuse to stereotype an entire group of people.
the fic is Zokugawa by Nobli
basically an edo period japan Zootopia AU
or Feudal Japan if you do not know specific periods.
its a nice fic and gives a little glimpse into japanese history and some culture that stars Judy..and a little later Nick.
Don't know if you've read it already, but Toga's <em>A World All Her Own</em> is a goodun. ^^the ^^only ^^one ^^I've ^^read ^^that ^^I ^^enjoyed, ^^anyways. I suspect this was the one /u/OzyLellowen was thinking of, as well. ZNN featured it not too long ago.
Dang, I could've plugged it in a while ago then, I'm sitting at over 500 now. Granted I've only been here a month and a half, too.
There was a smut fic from a little while ago that touched upon that and contraceptives as well. Can't recall the name off the top of my head, but it involved a wedding and Judy being in heat. Wasn't really my cup of tea, but eh, 'twas a thing. EDIT: Found it. Chapter 16 is where it's mentioned. [Most defos NSFW]
That thing aside, Pack Street seemed to flesh out the sex toy market pretty extensively. [Suggestive as heck]
Fair enough on the time stamps since I didn't twig that AO3 does EDT and here does UTC.
As for the proof reading, that post wasn't even about one of Zanrok's stories! That was one of Laverne's Chronicles of Zootopia series (https://archiveofourown.org/series/486182) and you are not mentioned in that at all, so please stop trying to find fires when there aren't any. Also providing criticism of a story structure, and providing criticism for spelling and punctuation are two different matters. Oh yes, and I mentioned as such to the author in the story in question.
If you want constructive criticism for proof-reading? Fine, show me something only you've proof read and I'll do so.
Well... I'd hate to plug my own work here, but I am in the process of writing this piece of crap if you're interested.
If you're looking for something a lot better, Roses are Red and Violence is Cool is really shaping up to be something spectacular, imho.
If you can find a green button up shirt, fabric paint or dye can do all sorts of wonders with a little patience. If you're trying to find one locally, try some local thrift stores. Walmart has a pretty good shirt you could use here, if you wanted to lighten it you could use this (also from walmart!).
Found on VK.com Zootpia fan page.
I highly recommend going through their fan page. Hundreds of pages of mostly user-submitted artwork.
Forest Tails is awesome... but you should be warned that the artist is taking a break. It hasn't updated in over a month, but she's been posting character pages and drawings over here. She also said
> At this rate, Forest Tails may only continue in September, depending on how hectic con preparations become and whether I can make this damn dialogue work or not
Based on this one-shot by Falke. It'll give a "possible adult content" warning, but there's nothing in that particular chapter. Short and cute, just a week after the climax of the movie.
Zootopia: Shadows in the Dark Saga - AO3
Zootopia: Shadows in the Dark Saga - FFN
After the savage case, Officer Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde, learn the truth about what lies in the shadows, and the great personal cost that comes from standing against the darkness. That the truth they seek will be stranger and more unexpected then they dare to fathom and the consequences will leave Zootopia changed forever.
My latest, You Decide Very Quickly That Some Things are Worth it
Summary: Whenever she looks at me I know, deep down, that she's learned to see more in me than what I present to the world. She's got me believing I'm more than I am, too, enough to stand up between her and these wannabe killers and actually have a chance to prove her right.
Dark alt-universe take on the climax. Tagged for MAJOR SPOILERS, violence and Nick's first-person POV. It's not the sort of thing I normally write, but it wouldn't stop rattling around in my head.
Thanks! Made using Blender 3D software. Someone else created and rigged the two character models (aka "the hard part"). Having those, I made them some clothes, built Judy's room, then did the animating / lighting / rendering.
I'm not a native speaker, but I think I can make some corrections. > Ich habe keine Ahnung was du hast geschrieben*.* Aber ich kann nur ein bisschen lesen... Es tut meir leid, aber meiner(?) Deutsch ist nich sehr gut.
I think you use "Ahnung" as opposed to "Idee" when you have an idea of/about something, rather than just an Idea on its own. https://www.dict.cc/?s=Ahnung
"Können" and its conjugationsis are modal auxiliaries, so the verb goes on the end. Other modal auxiliaries are "dürfen", mögen", "müssen", "sollen", and "wollen", including all of their conjugations.
The meiner/meinem/meinen stuff still confuses me, so I can't help you there.
"Very" is "sehr", not "zehr".
Hope that helped! (EDIT: können)
Hey there, life got in the way (again), and at this point I think it's probably better to let this convo remain dead rather than necroing it all back to life.
There is one point I would like to make though!
> I mean, the smallest size of police officers we see in Zootopia was a wolf (before Judy), so it would mean that without that, rodent buildings are lawless zones. Might explain how Mr. Big got so powerful.
From this poster, it's really hard to see up close, but to the right of Stu'd ears, that's a rodent-sized police car pulling over another rodent's car. I can see it easily because I have the poster hanging in my bedroom ;)
I don't think Little Rodentia would be lawless, but it would make sense that each district (more or less) is policed by species native to, or who are the designated population for, that district. It would make sense to have rodent police for rodent areas, etc, and that each precinct could call on size-appropriate backup from any other precinct.
>You don't want your home to burn down because firefighters can't enter it.
You probably don't want an elephant-sized firehose blasting at your rabbit-sized home either ;) Brings up the additional issue of where and how firefighters are supposed to get their water, doubt you'll find wolf-sized fire hydrants in Little Rodentia after all ;)
>Zootopia is not unique in that regard, but I can say that the different species allow a lot of possibilites (although also giving far more headaches).
Definitely more headaches, but point taken!
There is a T-shirt like Nick's Pawaiian shirt, made by Disney. The color seems lighter, more "washed" than his actual shirt, though. I don't have one, but I'm thinking about it.
Zootopia is not going away no matter how much you fear that it will. I mean sure, Robin Hood might be extremely difficult to get nowadays- oh wait, no it's not. It's been 45 years since its original theatrical release and it's still available, still memorable and hey, maybe there's not a lot of Robin Hood memorabilia available but there will always be true fans who are happy to sit down and watch an obvious Disney classic.
Now replace "Robin Hood" with "Zootopia" and imagine it's the year 2063, Zootopia's 45th anniversary. What do you think the chances of Zootopia fading away into obscurity will be?
Oh man, I love shawshank, both the story and the movie. Have you read his 'On Writing' book? It's mostly his autobiography so anyone can enjoy it, and I don't agree with everything he says about writing, but overall it is really good, and the audiobook read by him is amazing.
That's why I said in a fictional universe, anything goes. I have a speaker that's plugged into my wall that emits a noise that I can't hear but little critters can and drives them away. I had issues with them getting into my walls. Perhaps the rodents themselves found a way to emit a noise across the entire city that nothing but birds can hear and it drives them away. Again, nothing is steeped in fact with a make believe world. You can literally make up anything.
I just got mine (the first one you listed) in yesterday actually. Haven't had a moment to sit down with it unfortunately. I did skim through some pages and the art is really good. I could be wrong, but I believe the movie retelling was at the beginning of it and the other stories are later.
Paper and pencil. Tablets are not really for practice, they're for when you have to get a job done, when you're making a comic or animation or something; with a sketchbook, you can go to the zoo and sketch the animals, you can go to drawing groups, all that - in fact, drawing groups did me a lot of good recently, highly recommend it.
Also, for that price range, the tablet you will get is what I call a drawing pad, and the experience of drawing on those is very off-putting; I would save it for when you have better skills, otherwise it's added difficulty when you've got problems enough already. If/when you're really feeling it, you can do what I did: go straight from pen and paper to a screen tablet, without going by the drawing pad phase. This is my Cintiq 13HD, it cost me about 800€, the experience of drawing on it is close enough to traditional art, it's a fantastic tool, and they will keep getting cheaper. You don't have to buy Wacom, though, there are cheaper alternatives and I'm starting to think maybe I should have gone for those instead of a Wacom. Oh well.
You can buy an external blu ray reader for like 40 bucks Link
There were also a few leaked pictures from Japan a few days ago, but nobody knows if they are legit, yet. Here's the thread.
The Disney 3.0 figures are also nice to look at.
Yup, it's a book series I read when I was a kid. https://www.amazon.com/Bunnicula-Collection-Rabbit-Tale-Howliday-Midnight/dp/1400094720
I remember those books being very enjoyable and well-written.
This is the (Not Target) Collector's Edition which is lenticular I think, because I'm about to buy my 2nd copy of the bluray and it's not it I'll be ~~punching a dog~~ slightly annoyed.
