And of course, this is why I love reddit. My initial reaction was "What is it? Fake. That's what it is." Then I read this comment, which leads me to doing a little research.
Here's another photo: http://ffffound.com/image/21e57b1d390acf3baddbb071c42a9891dd69ed44
And here's some other discussion about it: http://www.ww2incolor.com/forum/showthread.php?6073-German-Artillery-silencer-!!
Sorry if this is a re-post but I found this when I accidentally typed imgur when I was searching for something else.
Sorry again if this was uploaded to imgur instead of the original site that I found it from.
Plus, this is one of my anon/throwaway account so I never intended to farm karma.
Unique yes, unprofessional yes.
Please don't take this as negative, or a deterrent but I've been in the design field for about 5 years now and just want to share some friendly advice.
*I'd say this will do you more harm then good looking for a gig.
*You should focus your energies on making an appealing portfolio and a resume that compliments it. (You can go all out with color and presentation but as far as a resume is concerned these usually have to be printed black ink on white paper and demand legibility) Work always before resume, Some people might but I dont' care if you were a bum that took up photoshop in your spare time as long as you are good.
*the text in the middle right now needs a lot of work. It seems like you just chose a cool looking font and ran with it. There is no hierarchy though and the all caps makes it extremely difficult to read.
Here are some things I fffffound that you might want to use as jumping off points. The woodcut lettering might satisfy the gig poster look you have going. http://ffffound.com/image/4cd69366c8736007e61e8c614f3139a8257e1920
It' would be good for headers and callouts but you need something more legible for body copy.
*The colors are close to fairey's http://www.mediabistro.com/unbeige/files/original/vintage%20fairey.jpg
*buttons don't click anywhere if this is printed, and make sure your logos are up to date.
Any who, I could keep going but I think you should definitely revise this puppy with legibility and hierarchy in mind.
Cheers,
It's mentioned in the comment already: http://ffffound.com/
From what I get, it's just a collection of random crap taken from a bunch of different tumblr pages, with a random "pretentious hipster"/weird/pornographic angle.
Though if I were you, I wouldn't get my hopes up finding anything similar. Though you may or may not. Like I said, that site is a gold mine for hipster shit and weird-ass gifs, and an incredibly random one at that.
Since the watermark has been intentionally "erased" (and not cropped) so that someone else could put their watermark on it (artifact on the bottom right of the pic on the bench), the source for this is Scarlett Madison. The series is called "Corsair".
Edit: Original photo on a different site with watermark intact.
Sure, but OP's family uses that site in lieu of flickr or imgur. Here is a picture of his cousin. His sister claimed to have found that photo mixed among their aunt's pictures when they helped her move. The sister told OP that their cousin is currently working at a strip club. OP isn't sure, but his sister may have been hinting she performs there as well.
Great photo and great post. I looked up some stuff and it looks like the photographer was Marks G. Harrison and here are two other pictures from the same shoot, I think.

I see that kind of stuff over at http://ffffound.com/ (may be NSFW from time to time, ye be warned) all the fucking time..
In my personal opinion, it's overused and boring, but hey, each to their own.
To expand on at least one point...
Selvedge is the edge of the fabric that holds the ends together so they don't fray. On quilting cotton, for example, it might look like this. You'll find info about the fabric, including who made it, on there. On Levi's, it looks like the older ones look like this at the seams.
Being someone who has always done photography I kinda like http://ffffound.com/
A lot of it is nothing astounding but it is nice to take a scroll through from time to time.
Yankdesign and Core77 can be interesting too.
http://musselsoppansvanner.blogspot.com/ used to be pretty interesting but as of late he's just been posting title screens of movies he's recently watched. Cool in some ways. You go back far enough and you can see some pretty cool vintage stuff.
Haha they actually force all the first years at our uni to watch helvetica. I would recommend checking out http://ffffound.com/ as well for a wide range of design related things that might interest you. It also works extremely well when you're in a mental block for ideas.
ive found these on http://ffffound.com/ a few weeks ago and have been using them for google calendar background because they are not very busy and thus contrast well with the grid and words. BTW i set my homepage to google calendar. it has served me well and suggest other people try it.
I'll throw in a vote for Herbie Mann, as well. That's an album cover that one just cannot un-see.
I love the album cover of Relaxin'. And others of that style. Anything by David Stone. http://ffffound.com/image/4d7e51164c8da8d7afd3df855a95a1ed5ea7c978
If visual stimulation inspires you try ffffound. Just keep clicking on pictures that grab your eye. It's one of those sites in which you can lose all track of time.
I should add that they have some NSFW content.
Start now, and dont espect to learn anything from a teacher. They will try to keep you down. The first thing you must do is to develop good taste, and what is good taste?, well thats for you to decide...
This is a good start http://ffffound.com/
And now you must start your little private project...
You don't look like the "average girl", take it and run with it! You're beautiful and in my opinion strike a remarkable resemblance to Shannyn Sossamon.
Seen here - http://ffffound.com/image/2e238086d364a5d320f1d6783fa45d4358dc7cc6
You are not ugly. You are different and unique. Keep rockin' it.
Figure out what you fancy looking at –be it futuristic vehicles, monsters, fantasy landscapes, scantly clad women, or whatever floats your boat– and then create some of that. Looking at other people's art is useful for inspiration as well, spend some time on deviantART or ffffound.
I have another suggestion relating to 'j' and 'k' navigation. Aside: I'll begin by saying that I really like the feature and wish more websites would implement it, and some variations of it. For instance, I would really like it if sites that played music used the arrow keys for song navigation.
My quandary with your current implementation of 'j' and 'k' is that if I scroll part of the way down the page, then press 'j,' it takes me right back up to the first picture. A better (my opinion, obviously) implementation can be FFFOUND! here (WARNING: slightly NSFW sometimes). Note that 'j' and 'k' on FFFFOUND! take you to the adjacent picture at your current scroll level.
Really great job with TPB, btw. I've seen a large percentage of the photos you've put on the site. And I enjoy your work immensely.
I also have some more questions: 1. Who is the new guy whom is taking over from you at The Globe? 2. How did you get such an awesome job? 3. How long does each blog post take to create (are they months in the making, and you have a queue, releasing regularly, with the obvious exception of the recent subjects)?
Thanks!
Omg, me too. I loved putting the money in the machine and the satisfaction if gave me to score a pack of smokes. I even remember when they used to sell these little bears that came with fake cigarettes that you could light and by squeezing them you could make them smoke those fake cigs.

Yeah, I'm old as f....🤪
http://ffffound.com/ [nsfw] is not technically a design blog, but a lot of people repost images from design blogs there, so I use it as a sort of digest. It shows up in my RSS reader amongst everything else I read, so from time to time it leads me to something neat.
And sometimes it shows me pictures of nekkid ladies, so there's that.
Great links.
Imagine making this a wall-jumping game: http://ffffound.com/image/9fc013d064d605a6950cf764b22e1a28ee435f21
I think silhouettes could work for a solo game programmer like myself with weak art-skills.
I like to look through either a website like ffffound or through my inspiration files, or sit and leaf through my collection of design books. I doodle away from the project, or come at it from another angle. If I'm really stuck, I leave it alone for at least a couple of hours, maybe a whole day.
I used to think that it was just me being an early adopter, but apparently over the years my friends have taken to call me a "invite-hipster". I have a FFFFOUND! which at least from what I recall I think I've met two other people who have had that account.
Additionally I was part of the early beta for Tumblr and my blog there has been around longer than most. I think the stats are that my Tumblr has been around two months longer than the official Staff Blog. (For some reason my Tumblr seems to be down, will update once it's up! But the permalink is still there.)
Not that I know of. It can be found on sites like FFFFound and Fantasti.cc and tumblr. I guessed she was at least 18. I wouldn't have posted it if I thought otherwise.
I see that is a trend to make websites feel more like paper design, clean, white, minimal, no fake 3d, shadows, grain. Webdesign, historically, did not begin from graphic designers, so for the last 10 years we had web design to be very different from paper design. I'd say, just stick to something actual in terms of graphics design, for your web designs. Always use a grid and follow ffffound.com , visuelle.co.uk and all the linked sites/studios
Go to this site http://ffffound.com/. download a heap of savage graphics such as this and go to http://www.aldiphotos.ie/ I printed off 178 of these for 16e and I dont think I used the free 100 photos thing properly. It really fills out a room and makes every inch of it really interesting.
A picture of a chick with a tattoo on the inside or her lower lip (don't remember what it said) and a piercing in her nose, kinda like this.
Edit: you could see the tattoo since she was holding her lip so you could.
I also think she had red hair..
I think I found it on ffffound, but never found it again :( I don't know why, but that was insanely hot to me.
Any internet detectives that could locate that?
Tutsplus for tutorials, best tutorial site on the net imo.
As for resources and blogs I like to use tumblr. It lets you follow things like photography, advertising, graphic design, etc… It's a great place for inspiration and usually through tumblr, you'll find other sites like ffffound and similar. Also, Twitter is a good place to follow designers and studios but in saying all this, sometimes nothing beats going outside and taking inspiration from the outside world.
Favorite programs would have to be Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign… Print wise, these things do pretty much everything.
It's good to remember that all of these things are a starting point though, once you begin building your own library of resources, you'll start finding things that suit your own tastes.
FFFFOUND! is a fantastic website to dick around in to search for inspiration.
In terms of feeling down about your art, I mean while pickmeups are nice, the things you have issues with are actually quite realistic. Going to school for art is quite stressful and competitive. Also it is a bummer and a half when someone who doesn't try as hard as you ends up doing better cause of some fluke.
But I mean... that's life though. I'm not saying to give up though, I'm saying to take these negatives and turn them into positives. If the curriculum is kicking your ass find solace in the fact that you're going to school for something you love. If it's hard then that's awesome as well, I dunno about you but the one thing I would hate in my studio classes is if the class was easy; it meant that I wasn't learning anything and it felt like a waste of time. And artists doing better than you/having it easier? Fuck them sir (or madame). The only person who you should be up against is yourself. If you create a fantastic body of work naturally people will love it. If you go comparing yourself to other then you will only strive to be better than them, as opposed to being better all in all
Books about design will only get you so far. I am currently a design student and the majority of what I actually learn from is my critiques and spending a lot of time gathering inspiration. A great way to find inspiration is from sites like (yay!everyday)(http://yayeveryday.com/) and Ffffound. Find great designs in history that you like, books about them and their process are really helpful. A lot of design classes focus on the history of design. Through the history you can discover elements that you like and can imitate.
Designers develop a habit of dissecting every visual put in from of them. I can't drive down the street without looking at every sign and thinking of their choice of typeface, whether it works or not, their colors and the psychology behind that. Getting in that frame of mind will help quite a bit.
