From their press release:
Listen to the specially composed song “The Gamer and Magicka” to get in the right mood. There’s even a special appearance by Vlad… http://www.magickagame.com/media/music It's the first song
Magicka
I nominated last week, and still think it would be a great choice.

Based on the card [[Havengul Vampire]], which I always associated with Vlad because of the name.
The card art is from an official wallpaper but unfortunately I was not able to find the artist's name, or I would've credited them on the card.
While obviously unenchanted, it was apparently relatively simple to make. Instruction could be found here, if you have any crafty associates.

Moving the keyboard is a huge one. I played a LOT of team fortress in the Quake 1 days and I had a ton of custom commands/buttons mapped on the keyboard. Enough that I had to make a spreadsheet to list them all. With WASD remember that tab, `ZXCVFGERT are all fairly easy reached keys along with the usual ctrl and shift. I stopped playing shooters and moved to MMO's. I have separate abilities on all of those keys, and 1-6, shift+1-6. I use the raid target system quite a bit and those were on F1-F9 and VERY VERY quick/easy to set. I still use the numberpad for a few commands, namely the giant 0 key is a PETSTOPBEINGRETARDED button. It wouldn't work as well in a shooter to peel your hand from the mouse, but I can get away with it. Arrow keys have a lot of awkward reaches and the space below them is useless where you have buttons to press in a WASD setup.
For anyone who wants a game to practice not being a clicker with, grab magicka and practice the complex spell combinations. After playing through it twice over a week or two my brain was stuck on things like QRERAS. Imagine accurately typing combinations of letters like that in ~1 second. Anything slower and you're probably dead.
The most recent game I played that was kind of like that was Magicka, it was a game truly fun enough that dying and having to replay a level didn't bother me at all, it was fun to go through it again and try new things.
This is the official wallpaper rather than an upscaled frame from the trailer. I just removed the junk at the bottom.
The problem is that people have pointed him at a ton of prior art, and he is working furiously to maintain the cognitive dissonance that allows him to believe that he still came up with something unique. Add to that the fact that he's (allegedly) trying to patent this nonsense and if he somehow succeeds all he'll do is probably end up costing other people money until his patent is quashed because he or whoever buys the patent from him will come up with a lame justification for why this infringes on "his" patent. Actually, I've already got it. Magicka infringes since the Xbox360 version is going to use a remarkably similar scheme to pick your spell elements. And since on the PC version you use qwerasdf to pick your spell elements, you're typing! It totally infringes! See? Now Paradox is going to get sued, and they'll have to defend themselves, which costs money, and Magicka II will end up costing $15 instead of $10.
>In the versus mode you get to show your so called friends who actually is the fastest wizard in the old we...we mean Midgård. Use defensive and offensive spells to the best of your ability and be the last wizard standing.
Oh, sorry. I thought you meant local multiplayer as in Local Area Network.
For true local multiplayer I recommend the following:
I also recommended Legend of Grimrock. It's actually a single player game, but I think it's a great game to play with one person watching and the other helping out with finding secrets and solving puzzles.
[](/roseluck3) I've put a fair amount of time into Battle for Wesnoth with a couple friends, and I'd love to see it get some more attention. I can't honestly think of a game to compare it to (though I'm sure there are ones out there), but it's tons of fun, especially if you've got a few friends to try it out with.
I've also been looking into getting a copy of Magicka; I don't know how niche it is, but I hadn't heard of it before about a week ago. [](/sp)
[](/roseluck)Otherwise I'm honestly very behind in terms of gaming, I think the most recent game I've gotten has been Skyrim.... I've really only kept an eye out for the big titles, as I haven't been able to afford many new games.
Though I do have a better job now, so... maybe in the near future I'll be able to make up for lost time!
[](/sp)[](/fillyrose) Actually, long as we're on the subject, I'm going to plug /r/PLoungemafia. Lots of pony-y goodness, intrigue, accusation, and murder! Can't go wrong!
Magicka has one on their site Link-
We rolled characters last weekend and Magicka was on in the background. Very atmospheric. It felt odd when the PS4 turned itself off and everything went quiet. They have lots of tracks available to download on their official website: http://www.magickagame.com/media/music
> perfect model
I voted for him because his model at the moment is anything but faceless. He doesn't have a nose or eyes, but when I hear the word faceless I think of something along these lines
Magicka would be excellent for 4 players as well. If you and your friends are the kind who enjoy screwing around in a sandbox or messing with one another, you'll likely really enjoy it. Death is a trivial and indeed a staple thing in the game, and three button presses by a teammate instantly revives you back into the game. It has a complex, but very free and open spell casting system that is only limited by how fast you can press the buttons, so it encorouges a really trigger happy style of play as you and your friends cast increasingly complex spells faster and faster and create increasingly complex accidents that are deadlier and deadlier. It features a large, epic campaign with a lot of good humour to it, fun varieties of robes, weapons, and staffs that change up how you play your own wizard, most of all it's one of those few games that have a lot of complexity to them, but makes startling amounts of sense. I've heard LAN is a snap to set up for it, more so than Killing Floor, so I'd highly encourage you and your friends to check it out.
This is an GMA X3100 we're talking about here. (In a 2008 pre-unibody MacBook.) The sysreqs even say Intel integrated chipsets aren't supported.
I'm just going to have to wait until I can get a new MacBook. Possibly after this coming refresh is out, depending on how things work out.
I have a 50% off coupon for Nuclear Dawn that I will never use. Also, a copy of Magicka to trade away.
I'd love a copy of or a coupon for Sins of a Solar Empire.
Not sure where they rank on the budget scale, but I'll add Magicka and Killing Floor as two games with phenomenal music that you should leave on (even if it means you miss the stalkers sneaking up on you).
Most fun I've had in co-op recently was Magicka. Fantasy, funny (it's a sorcery-based game that has an expansion set during the Vietnam War!), and most importantly, fun. Also cheap. And the developers give a shit. Just check out the trailers; the end result is every bit as much fun as it looks.
If you have an extra controller you can play the recently released Magicka. Via WAN multiplayer it is still kinda wonky, but it has same computer co-op for up to 4 players. Besides, when the WAN multi gets fixed, you can play online with 1-3 players from your own computer :)
sounds fun but they need an arena for that... countdown to start... and lower damage in arena... what fun is there when you can one beam/hit KO an opponent... and if like what you say, start off in a wide area.... without count down there sure to be some non disciplined ones..
they should implement normal, hard, extreme/hardcore/whatever mode in the future if they can... like magicka 2 or something... campaigne can be too easy sometimes.. and im saying that before i even learn about FQAAAS beam of god....
perhaps it's under beta/alpha or construction.. http://www.magickagame.com/game-info/game-modes
