will share how i got this since i'm not sure what the deal was:
there's a website that's sorta like a mix of pandora and spotify called Slacker. however this site is notorious for making stuff available that's not even out yet. however this wasn't the case for this track. it had it's release date marked as July 21st. but the track never came out on his soundcloud or any other store.
since i don't have a premium account (and i don't plan to) for this bullshit i clicked the "start radio" button hoping it would play the actual song like pandora sometimes does, and it actually did. so this is basically just a stereo mix recording of when it played the song.
link in case anyone wants to check it out: http://www.slacker.com/album/galimatias/shakeup
Can't tell you why Spotify radio sucks, but it really does. In my experience, the best radio service out there is Slacker. Their $4/mo service works perfectly for me, but the free option is just as good (with limitations, obvs).
Here's their 90s Alt station. If you click on "Fine Tune" from the player, you can adjust the pool that it pulls from (for example, more/less popular stuff)
Slacker Radio is available in Canada, and a million times better than Pandora anyway. In addition to being able to build stations based on the artists you like and related acts, similar to Pandora, they also have professionally programmed stations in a tonne of different genres.
He has a track called "YEEZUS IS THE ONLY TRUE GOD" but he doesn't actually mention Kanye on it. http://www.slacker.com/song/hannibal-buress/yeezus-is-the-only-true-god
He also has a joke on his new special where he compares his dick to the Yeezus album. The whole premise is that his dick has to grow on you, kinda like the Yeezus album. Where at first you're like "I didn't like that" but after a couple more times you're like "he's the best out".
I also saw him do stand up at Bonnaroo 2014, where Kanye was also performing. He talked about his experience with the Yeezus tour but I don't remember the exact jokes. Only something about Kanye constantly going on about how great his mountain was.
I'm a big fan of Slacker Radio. Same general idea as Pandora but with real people programming genre playlists and I think even some of the similar-artist playlists, so there are fewer band/album repeats.
Pandora is sort of like what you are asking for. It isn't entirely random, but it plays random songs that it thinks you will like based on your likes and dislikes. You have to start it off with a song, artist or band, and it goes from there. Each time a song plays, you tell it if you like it or not. Pandora won't play songs you don't like, and it will find more songs that it thinks you will like.
Slacker is similar to Pandora, and iirc, you can start that one off with a genre, instead of a specific song or artist, and I don't remember if there is a limit on the number of genres you can start it off with. The main difference between the 2 radios is that on Pandora, you can only ban a single song, but Slacker lets you ban a song or artist. Both let you create multiple radio stations and modify each station.
So I tried to give my birthday party an Archer theme, but then didn't really have enough time so it's all half assed. Hopefully, you can do better:
For drinks, I tried to make Bloody Mary (it was terrible, I failed badly though I did my best to follow the TIP from this sub). Green Russians were a bit too much so I just went for White Russians, again, following the TIP.
Gummy bears - one batch in vodka, another in whiskey. Not a fan of vodka usually, but gummy bears do seem to go better with them. If you go for Green Russians, try gummy bears with absinth, that should be fun. But do follow the TIP and prepare them 3 days in advance, it makes a huge difference.
I didn't have time to print them, but you should get some badges for everyone, they look cool.
As for music, you should probably go for the slacker Archer radio. I made this playlist for my party, but it's as I said a half assed effort.
Oh, maybe try and put some food in tinfoil swans? I wanted to do that but never got to.
It's a very good theme, good luck organizing the party, hope this helps.
Why don't you subscribe to Slacker Radio where you can listen to whatever you want whenever you want OR pick one of a bunch of stations that will give you new music to listen to based on songs you already like? It is also only 10 bucks a month (or free but then you can't pick what song you listen to, it is essentially like a radio.)
You can also download portions of the radio stations to listen to offline if you've got a paid account.
Yeah, look at all these shitty metal bands that actually get radio play (i.e. have real talent).
Black Sabath Slayer Pantera Megadeath Iron Maiden Deep Purple Etc Etc
Complete shit list, I know.
I believe this is it... link
Unfortunately I'm not in the US or Canada, so I can't listen to it and I'm feelinz lazy at this moment to install a vpn and give it a go. I apologize before hand if somehow it really isn't the right story.
And on that note... If your looking to replace Spotify..
I use Slacker Radio, (free, $3/m, $10/m) subscription options, offline sync for the $10 tier, the Windows 10 and android slacker apps are good, It's a pretty good music service.
Another Swami playlist worth mentioning, the Swami Sound System on Slacker radio. John's own playlist. Used to be a local radio show but now lives on.
This is from a Vape in the pocket of Mickey Cucchiella. Comedian and former DJ. Give a listen to his album. http://www.slacker.com/album/mickey-cucchiella/diary-of-a-short-man
He's had a recent bad go. source he's my Facebook friend.
Dang, I really haven't got any experience with Spotify or Pandora. I just visited each respective web stations site now and found:
Spotify
won't let me listen on the computer without first making an account
there's a free (?) version and a paid version
Pandora
So, for Songza and Jango, you can listen free on a mobile device (with the app), or go on a computer to their website and listen. If you make an account you can save stations and save some favourite songs to listen to a playlist later, or upvote/downvote to increase play times/decrease play times.
Once upon a time I used Slacker Radio, back when the Blackberry 9630 was still a phone sold by carriers..so I guess 2010?..anyways, I listen to that station all across North America, they even had standup comedy stations. But it didn't play very well on my iPhone (lots of bugs and freezing and just general crappiness). No idea how it's now, but it looks like you can't just listen on the website without an account first.
I use slacker. It allows you to download playlists to mobile with the premium service and you dont have to stream. I do the radio plus and use it in my car sometimes and at work. It doesnt do 2. And does 3.
I don't listen to FM Radio (I use Slacker's streaming radio), so I wasn't familiar with it. Anything turns shitty if you hear it too much, but I think it's a really solid track.
Reminds me of that Pumped Up Kicks hullabaloo. Personally, I think it's rad that there's some decent music being overplayed!
Slacker has a station under "Spiritual" called "Spa" that I just found a few weeks ago. It has a lot of good stuff on it. I don't normally listen to Christian music, which is what I assumed everything under that heading was, so it took me a long time to discover it was there. Even if you don't like the station, Slacker is awesome and you should get a subscription anyway :P But I think you'll really like the music on there.
Also, I've been getting into classical guitar as nice music to play while massaging. Sorry I don't have any particular musicians to suggest, as I am just getting into it. Just wanted to throw it out there though.
