If you have HD radio, turn it up one notch above 107.7 to get 107.7 The Sound. They play local music from Washington State and Oregon and there are no commercials. I've heard The Pharmacy, Feral Children, People Eating People, Mirah, etc. on that station. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&ei=HGepVIHrG5SloQTg_IKgCw&url=http://streema.com/radios/The_Sound_KNDD_HD2&ved=0CCUQFjAD&usg=AFQjCNE4DvL_wLsqcPKOGN553_DqCjkN8w&sig2=Jqg0kBEw8ctENkbVxNLJyQ
My eyes are glued. 4:30AM EST

rock's a popular genre, so unless you live in the middle of buttfuck nowhere, there'll probably be more than one. That said, if there's not, i'd recommend listening to this station, as they play a lot of different artists. It's stationed in Hamilton, Ontario, but it does cover mostly American news.
On TuneIn (the app) there are a whole lot of Japanese channels that are completely in Japanese, a lot of talk shows with regular people calling in, むさしの is one of the best for talk radio stuff, as well as radio kishiwada, and Osumi radio has a lot of casual talk programs during the night time in Japan, so daytime in freedomland. They play a LOT of jazz and traditional jdm music on these talk stations so sometimes you might have trouble finding casual conversation.
Casual radio talk made me realize just how common it is for Japanese people use "ね~" in conversation. There are a lot more I could list if you don't feel like searching through

Check here, they should have it. Pretty sure actual radio in Vancouver won't have it though :(
EDIT: Checked online they should have it on AM 1040 in Vancouver http://www.tsn.ca/radio/vancouver-1040-i-1410/1410-schedule starts at 3PM PST
http://streema.com/tv/ This site is pretty good, though you'll have to look up the schedules for the station. Also, Telemundo and the Spanish language channels, as well as the Hispanic American culture as a whole, tends to be far more traditional and conservative.
When I have repetitive work I listen to Espace Musique, which is pop, mainly. Its advantage over others is that I don't understand French so the speakers don't distract me.
I had the same problem, you can listen via Steema though, isn't just on TuneIn http://streema.com/radios/play/Radio_Miami_International_WRMI?player=videojs&utm_expid=.mKFrGloNQCCbE3FkkqTRWw.1&utm_referrer=
There are several repeaters in the area and people talking on them throughout the day and night, as well as a number of scheduled events every week within the local ham community. It's very active around here. You can listen in to one of the repeaters here. http://streema.com/radios/play/75557
Good reply by /u/katharinekay. If you don't mind I'll add a bit to it.
KPCC is all news or newstalk from NPR or MPR (SoCal local, plus Garrison Keillor). KCRW (89.9) is best described as high end community college, with NPR, local newstalk, culture, and music shows. If you're in the entertainment industry it has some good entertainment news and interview shows. The two are similar and different, so I keep both in my presets. And I can remember the LMU (88.9) and CSUN (88.5) college radio stations.
Also agree with the pop music recommendations. Will add 93.1 "Jack FM". Morning drive time I mostly love K&B and sometimes can't stand them. Also the old classic rock station KLOS, 95.5.
Jazz is CSU Long Beach's KKJZ, also a professional (but low budget) college radio station that specializes in jazz.
Can't help on sports other than I think you'll only find that on AM. Check Streema for LA.
Hey thanks for the reply! I came across it on an internet radio(here). It's been down since this morning in the US, but this song was played every so often when it was working. The only identifier it had was "Dz - cyxy". There were many songs that had identifiers like that (dz - ????). I'm not sure really what they meant. Hopefully that helps narrow the search. Thanks for identifying the instruments for me!
Thanks! A year sounds unrealistic for me, but gives me something to shoot for. I've found myself being a little precocious too, but it doesn't hurt anyone to keep rediscovering their limits. And thanks for the news link.. I've been listening to Streema every once in a while. I'll have to spend more time with this.
It looks like this streema allows you to listen live. You might have a problem with those types of websites because you have a Canadian IP. Streaming TV and radio is sometimes locked by region.
There's a Chrome add-on called Hola that will mask your IP and make it look like you'd using a computer in the right country. It works really well. I use it all the time to watch BBC stuff that I normally wouldn't have access to because I'm American.
Tuning in from home and not packing because I'm not going either. Since others may be too busy to acknowledge your gift, Thank you! BMIR is also on the air from now until Exodus: http://streema.com/radios/play/BMIR
I listen to Streema/Simpleradio and it has significantly less issues than radio.com. I was not having these issues with continuous ads today.
My backup if Streema goes down for whatever reason is Twin Cities ESPN because they always air the show live and go through Hubbard radio, which is pretty reliable and gets through most internet blocks at workplaces. You may have to listen to Minneapolis/St. Paul commercials but they aren't nearly as bad as 790's.
Both these links I use because TuneIn (which is garbage anyways) and the ESPN app don't get through at my office.
Idk what your situation is but hopefully this helps.
The show is drastically better live than it is on the podcast so I really hope you guys don't switch over.
Here is a great broadcast who's eyes have been open.
Don't be LONELY TONIGHT

All the radio stations you could ask for... http://streema.com/radios/Mexico_City_DF
This link goes to Mexico City stations, but you could probably find any city in the world.
Try this. Idk if it's the right thing though http://streema.com/radios/WBBM
Edit: click on "or listen online (no app required)" to not install the app if you don't want to
Edit 2: My bad. Just listened to the stream and all it says is its not allowed to stream the radio anymore
The Minneapolis station KQRS is pretty good about playing deeper cuts. You can stream it here
102.7 The Peak - Vancouver - ckpk.streamon.fm CBC Radio 1 - Vancouver - http://streema.com/radios/play/511 Rock 101 - Vancouver - http://tunein.com/radio/Rock-101-1011-s31128/
