Put some Vaseline in your nostrils before they start to hurt. It's an uphill battle once they are raw.
Someone pointed out Saline Nasal Gel is far superior to Vaseline. I'll be trying that this year.
Dude! Buy a retail tagging gun. $10 on Amazon. You can create loops with the tags that become a “channel” for the lights. You can light up a piece of clothing in 10-15 mins and if you made a mistake, just snip the loop off and try again. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PWQILU8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_B1LJzbV8YQCDV Works great and those tags don’t budge.
I just use a jug for the tent, but when I'm out and about I keep a Travel John in my bag. It turns your pee into a gel.
I had to leave the man burn a few years ago cause I was about to pee my pants. I almost had to stop and piss on the open playa it was that bad (I made it to the portos somehow). They are cheap insurance and they make them for men, women, and kids.
Salt sticks finally solved my sleep cramping problems, but my game changer out there is this portable bidet. Never underestimate the value of a sparkly clean butt out there.
I finally found the perfect pair of playa boots. They have steel toes, yet they're extremely light and flexible, and use velcro instead of laces. You may need to try a few different insoles to really dial them in. The only downside is that if you buy the lady's boot, you don't get steel toes (WTF?). Fugu ftw.
These suck donkey balls to breathe through, especially if you're doing anything that remotely raises your respiration rate.
Get one of these instead.
These are great. Best goggles I've found, and cheap too. One amazon order to take care of both day and night.
Protip: the strap has a melted end that is rough when wearing them around your neck. I clip it off to get rid of it, and have never had a problem with the strap unraveling.
Edit: Just noticed this is the same item for five bucks less
5v 2811 LED pixel lights with a basic controller into a 10k usb power pack. Super super bright cool patterns and rechargeable. amazon link
Now all you need is an industrial space heater and a quantity of powdered gypsum and you can simulate BM in your garage, for a fraction of the cost and energy usage of going to Nevada.
Damn, that's terrible man! There was a huge gang in Houston that would specialize in band equipment thievery and stealing uhaul trailers. It's a rampant problem. Investing in a trailer GPS tracker is a really valuable advice in these situations. That was how the gang got busted!
this one for example is 30$ on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Tracker-Anysun-Realtime-Smallest-Waterproof/dp/B00O5XWUYW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1471817460&sr=8-1&keywords=trailer+gps+tracker
I wear my wedding ring, but it's just a simple band, so wouldn't be the end of the world to replace. My wife is not going to be wearing her ring, because it's bespoke and actually valuable. I got her a pack of silicone rings in various colors on Amazon (prime-able), so that she can still wear something but not have to worry about losing it. And it gave me the opportunity to "propose" again :)
Also, keep in mind that fingers tend to swell in altitude/heat. Only time I feel the need to keep an eye on my ring is when it's really cold at night. Maybe you could wear gloves then?
Amazon has these battery powered, self-adhesive, waterproof, 5050 rgb LED strips that are way brighter and less prone to breaking:

You could probably get a cheaper price by buying in bulk and doing the soldering yourself, but this was pretty damn easy.

I did put a direct link above but I could have been more clear. This is actually a difficult question to answer, because there are two versions of the diorama. One was designed earlier and is built for the ground. The other is much more complicated, features spinning laser firing spheres, and is designed to be floated with the anti gravity technology.

The link goes to "https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HCTCHHK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_ep_dp_a-AjybEHCQ5SF". I'm no computer expert, but this looks like an Amazon referral code embedded within that link: "ref=cm_sw_r_cp_ep_dp_a-AjybEHCQ5SF". If that's a referral code, that means somebody is making money off each Amazon purchase (and not just for that item, as the referral cookie stays on the person's computer for other Amazon purchases). I note that the link works without that extra portion, but yet its there. Perhaps someone can explain as its hard to believe a mod would do that, but look at the source.
I usually just do strings of battery operated lights, you can sew them to a fur vest and leave the battery pack in a pocket, or sew them to the outside of your backpack and tuck the battery pack inside. Put a string on your bike too, ziptie the battery back to the frame. They have about a thousand brands of them on amazon for <$10. They come in different colors, or color changing.
It's going to be like that cutscenes in Katamari Damacy... Hippies are going to be all like http://www.mobygames.com/images/shots/l/94754-katamari-damacy-playstation-2-screenshot-i-feel-the-cosmos.jpg
It's a very geothermically active region (Hence all the hot springs). There's a lot of uranium in the area. Gerlach's had problems with their water supply because of it.
Weather Underground actually tracks weather for Black Rock City. Looks like it's gonna be a hot one, with lows in the high 50's.
Remember to pack your cold gear anyway, everyone! You never know the playa will throw at us when we least expect it.
The forecast for 2015 was amazing a week before the burn. I've been watching the weather in BRC and it's been scorching. (To be fair, shit loads of places are waaaay hotter than usual right now - I just got fried in Quebec. I have friends not leaving their offices for lunch in Japan. Nothing but bitching from my friends in Texas). It might actually be cooler in August. Who knows. https://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/heat-wave-to-have-firm-grip-on-northwestern-us-into-end-of-july/70005564
Just be prepared for anything. I'm hoping for a cool down though.
This might be helpful in making your decision.
https://sites.google.com/site/evapotrons/graywater-experience-and-advice
"The graywater page on the Burning Man website is badly out of date. Written before any evapotrons were devised, it recommends Evaporation Ponds (known for years now to be high-maintenance space-wasters) and says nothing about sanitation.
In spring 2011 two Earth Guardians prepared a revision of the page. Most of the content appears below. Once the official review is complete, it will replace the the old text on the Burning Man website. In our opinion this information is needed now; so for now we present it as our personal experience and advice."
As /u/Seditous says above is is absolutely cheaper to buy a tent (and most other camping gear) in the US compared to Australia where OP is coming from. Like laughably so, this tent is US$207.43 on Amazon and Prime eligible whereas the exact same tent is AUD$449 from Ray's Outdoors on Parramatta Rd in Sydney. That's about USD$341. I was dubious when folks told me but it really is true, camping gear in Australia is crazy expensive.
/u/Codien I'd recommend getting yourself a tent in the US, either off Amazon (you should be able to get a free Prime trial for free shipping) or from an REI and then take it home with you to use at Burning Seed, Modifyre and Blazing Swan and/or bring it back with you next year. Whatever you do don't just dump it when you're done.
Did you know Amazon will donate a portion of every purchase if you shop by going to smile.amazon.com instead? Over $50,000,000 has been raised for charity - all you need to do is change the URL!
Here are your smile-ified links:

I hear ya on this note that not all models are crazy rich. Completely true. and not all are entitled, also true. We can't figure out the entitled part, but the rich part she most definitely is.
This a 17 year Victoria's Secret supermodel who's "net worth is in the region of $60 million (£47 million)." https://tinyurl.com/yd5frxxf Forbes Magazine cited her as making $6.6 million in 2012.
So this ain't your run-of-the-mill model doing go-sees and cattle calls on a daily basis. And based on her filmography, TV credits and literally hundreds of campaigns of work, it's pretty safe to say that she's rich. Entitled is questionable, but rich? She's doing fine (and by fine I mean she's incredibly wealthy).
I'd also be genuinely curious if she helped with a camp or art build and didn't have a plethora of sherpa's making her burn easier.
EDIT: Also, note that I'm not saying having wealth is a negative. I just want to be clear that this is a well-to-do and successful individual in her industry. My issue is if she was asking people to move or if she actually participated in our culture (communal effort, participation, etc.)

if you had a ticket, or need help, lawyersforburners is a good place to go. you can always google lawyersforburners. my friend from dpw heard that they had 3 times more law enforcement out this year. i noticed it. blm slowly cruising by, looking in tents/camps that were open etc. i also had a creepy experience on the open playa. i wandered to the trash fence by myself, sat, had a cigarette and slowly rode to an art installation. i walked up, checked it out and started walking back to my bike. then, this shadow on a bike with some christmas lights attached to it rode near me. i said something on the lines of "do you know what this does?". he ignored me, then i heard him say something on his walkie talkie. after that, he rode off. i noticed his uniform as he pedaled away. creeped me out. generally, i feel you're safer at camp from law enforcement than you i do on the open playa.
Ok cool, but also, fuck you.

You think burners are too stupid to do this research on our own, and find out that there are much more cheaper sources for these materials?
Why the fuck are you charging $233 for an item that can be had on amazon for $30?
YOUR 4" bifilament at 60 yards
AMAZON 4" bifiliment at 60 yards

You're going to tell me there is a 200 fucking dollar difference between these two items? You put up this AD veiled as some sort of "we're just here to help" marketing ploy, and figured we were too dumb to see through it?
I'd have respect for you if your post was just "Hi, we are a company that sells tape. If you need tape for your hexayurt, or other stuff, consider buying it from us"
But no, you insulted us by thinking we wouldn't see through it, and no, this is not "everything you need to know" about building a hexayurt, it is insanely pathetic. there are far more detailed plans out there, and even those are hard to follow along with, coming from someone who has built a hexayurt. Sorry, I just fucking hate insulting marketing ploys.
My friend used these: Amazon

We only used the "big" patches of multiple jewels, and they stayed on fine through all conditions and didn't MOOP. Some designs also have some smaller single jewels, do NOT use those as they're not sticky enough and will actually MOOP.
Thanks! Here is the floor in action, it's on a model and a bit faster then it will be in reality.

Wanted to gift out 100+ disposable cameras with a 24 frame scavenger hunt and a URL printed on the jacket.
Will build an interesting site out of the results.
Can't really afford 500 cameras in order to have the custom printing, so still looking for a cheaper or lower quanity order, plus friends (or like Elon Musk or someone) to split the bill with.
For the last two years, Camp TwinBikini has announced (in official ultra runner circles) the Burning Man UltraMarathon. https://sites.google.com/site/burningmanultramarathon/home
The hell of it is that people keep showing up and running it.
Last year, and I do applaud them for it, though I can't remember which camp it was, there was a group of Burners on the 2:00 spur who handed out water bottles filled with vodka to the runners. One runner held onto his and drank it dry over the course of about half a lap. Dude had chops.
There was talk on ePlaya last year about "Camp Adopt-a-shy person" where a more experienced/outgoing burner was paired with a shy person but I'm not sure it ever came to fruition. Burning Man really is a great place to try out new things in a social context, and to learn to be comfortable wearing something outrageous, or nothing at all! Maybe try the Costco Soulmate Trading Outlet?
I’ve been watching Weather Underground at the Gerlach station and almost everyday has been triple digits for the last month. About two weeks ago it dropped slightly below 100 but jumped back up. I sure hope it cools down for all of you attending. I’m taking another year off.
Scroll down and look at the history.
Yes I do.

I was working on the spaceship, Icarus, that was parked right next to you. Thanks for helping me remember why I don't do cross word puzzles. Im a little jammed up with the fact I stood there for so long and ended up contributing zero help.
Edit: Here's a pretty epic picture of your installation during sunrise on Sunday morning.
2015, Burn night it [was 1c degree/34f](https://www.wunderground.com/history/airport/KLOL/2015/9/5/DailyHistory.html?req_city=Gerlach&req_state=NV&req_statename=&reqdb.zip=89412&reqdb.magic=1&reqdb.wmo=99999] (Sorry, I was 1c off), but the windchill was -2c. That year had a few cold nights. Def colder than 39.
EDIT: I was told it was -2 that night, I just noticed the historical weather doesn't seem to be tracked in gerlach, it's up the road in Lovelock, so I'm not sure.
Esalen in the desert, after a huge trip to Costco. It's odd: the very being of the world is so challenged by carbon dioxide poisoning, that "changing the world" has to involve yet another 51 weeks of carbon intensive transportation over the mountains and for brief and self-serving neo-relativism. Why not set up in West Oakland?!? Too hard, too real, too real world. First Ranch may make this list eventually: http://www.encyclopedia.com/topic/Utopian_communities.aspx
I recommend the eclipse p100:

It feels good whenever I wear this, and I don't wake up with a sore throat and headache.
I use a realtor lockbox for this. Keys go in the box, box has a combo, box is attached to the door knob. Works well for us.

Just got a few sets of fairy lights myself, and the Amazon page says 3 AAA's, they're actually 3 AA's...go figure. I was also hesitant to use the newer ones that use the CR2032's but these ones seem fine to me. I just put them on and they look great. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015T4XRY2/ref=ask_ql_qh_dp_hza
I worked on Multiverse. We really tried to make it an accessible and low-cost virtual experience for Android, iOS, and Quest.
On Friday before the Burn we dropped the cost to $0, and anyone can explore the Playa today. As of a couple days ago, the servers are still online, so try to explore the art while you still can. The live sessions are still being used for some sets, but I don't know what if anything is scheduled.
I don't know that I'm qualified to officially state how many users we saw, but it was on the magnitude of the traditional Gerlach Regional. We didn't know what exactly the response would be like globally, so we were actually prepared to handle significantly more clients. Because of client and server segmentation it seemed less populated than it really was, and that is something I hope that we can address for any future use of the Multiverse.
For the time crunch we had to get it ready for Burn week, it was still a very impressive collaboration of technical support and artists to bring things together for Burning Man 2020. Hundreds of camps and art installations with more than 70 live stages, streaming globally.
I found a really awesome knot app recently called Knots 3D https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nynix.knots3
It shows you how to tie different knots, pinch and twist to adjust the orientation of the knot and let's you use your finger to swipe left or right to advance the knot or rewind.
For Android, I use "Final Countdown". And I don't count days till the Man burns, I count days till I leave for Playa! I have stuff I have to get done!! http://imgur.com/oda8aIJ
I wouldn't exactly call it "accurate" in total -- there are cacti in the desert and the whole family shows up without going through contortions to get tickets -- but some details and, especially, the spirit, are captured kinda well.
You can watch it, potato quality but free, here.
I took the XLS version of his data and totaled up the current numbers.
Applied for tickets: 1987
Received tickets: 669 (33.67%)
Didn't receive tickets: 1318 (66.33%)
So, working backwards from 40k tickets, let's use some fuzzy math:
X entrants * 33.7% success rate * avg 1.7 tickets requested = 40000 tickets sold
That gives us 69,820 entrants, and a total of 118,694 tickets requested.
And I made a new version of the spreadsheet that more closely matches some datapoints I found from various sources:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aq32VFeBeUnEdEhIdEtCci1hZTlZZHczSUR3SmZla0E
Most Lowes and Home Depot's carry them in California. The Home Depot site is showing varying amounts of them in stock at all the Reno Home Depot's. This is what you want.
You'll likely need to buy them well ahead of time and pick them up in store. For 10 hexayurts you'll need 120+ panels (plus one spare per yurt). You may be better off finding a construction supply house and buying them by the pallet. 120 of them is a 10' x 4' x 8' block.
If you have 1 week to build 10 hexayurts, you have a long week ahead of you. You will have to have all the tape for that as well.
Look for a hexayurt mailing list, such as this google group. Ask around, there are those who have bought by the pallet before. You may be able to get better boards this way as well. I doubt any single Home Depot will have that many in stock at once, though leading up to Burning Man they might but i wouldn't count on it.
Good luck! You have your hands full!
Also, what are you going to do with them after BM? You should look to donate them or somehow not landfill them.
Who owns the license for the art after the burn really doesn't affect what kind of merchandise is created. If a project is kickstarter/indiegogo funded, whoever is doing that could easily decide to make a reward for a donation to be "Temple 2014 Tshirts" or whatever else they want. It's already in the current business model that things are made under. A number of people here on /r/burningman have been rather vigilant about complaining about those kickstarter projects with weird rewards associated with funding.
As I said earlier, this is already happening - How close was Embrace to becoming the Temple this year? From their kickstarter, they are selling bandanas, booty shorts, medallions, stickers, coozies, shirts, and flasks.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1705373243/embrace-burning-man-2014
AHHH MATE!! Thats sounds great. I really like the idea of the different colors for the different frequencies. I just imagine a drum machine connected to a rubens tube blasting off blue for a kick, red for a snare, etc. You should really get in touch with the charcade guys, Im not sure if they are headed out this year or not though
When thinking about a sine wave, Have you ever heard of cymatics? now if you could make that sand flammable. That would be very intriguing.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/Site3/charcade-burning-man-2013 https://www.google.com/search?q=cymatics&safe=off&client=opera&hs=IYo&prmd=ivnsp&source=lnms&tbm=vid&sa=X&ei=Zv1bU5ejBc2hyATG8YHQAw&ved=0CAYQ_AU
Eh, I figured if I couldn't find a generator that was quite then I would just create this and put it somewhere on the deep playa - either way I think it would be a cool project to build.
And yes, you nailed it on the head with the power issue. That is where I am running into some problems. First some math: I read that the wattage on the 100W LEDs for the Chinese is closer to 60/70 Watts. So 70W * 25 LEDs + 430W for the fans = 2180W total. Secondly, the Amps for each LED is about 2 so 2A * 25 + 5A for fans = 55A.
So, I feel like I could get away with a 3250W generator or something on Craigslist. I realize the neighbors wouldn't be too fond of me if I ran it at camp, so I was thinking of either putting it in the deep playa running of the current design. If I were to the battery front, I would need to re-design based of 12V DC out (instead of the 110V AC) so would need to power using something like this and eliminating the smaller booster. I could use two batteries and run it maybe 4 hours a night, which I think is reasonable.
pool party (with a bunch of good djs too) is happening for a few days after the burn, mon-wed I think: https://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=135633059846651
I'm actually staying there on both sunday night before the burn (leaving early am monday) and on the monday night after.
I can't really see any of the installations in that pic/vid, do you know what time the shot/video was taken? I might be able to look at my music list and figure out who was playing at that time, and at what camp...
The Honda EU2000i and Yamaha 2000iS are basically identical and the standard go-tos. They're roughly $800-1000.
A good alternative is this generator from Costco. It has the same engine as the Yamaha and basically identical, but is $600.
Weather archive doesn't seem to reflect this https://www.wunderground.com/history/weekly/KLOL/date/2017-8-27?req_city=Gerlach&req_state=NV&req_statename=Nevada&reqdb.zip=89412&reqdb.magic=1&reqdb.wmo=99999
I used to use Monkey lights at the beach here in SoCal. You need to be rolling along abt 8 miles an hour for them to become effective. On top of that, if you only use one blade, your wheel won't fill with the image. You need at least two per wheel at abt 45.00 per blade not per wheel. As far as the programmable Monkey lights go, they are horribly expensive. Around 900.00 bucks. I switched to XuanWheel X1 spoke lights. You can dump images to them via Bluetooth on your smart phone. They will also play animated files. They will only fit 26" wheels. They will show an image at a slower speed than Monkey lights. You recharge them via micro USB cable which is included. They run anywhere from 45.00 dollars per wheel on up depending upon which site you buy them from. http://www.gearbest.com/bike-lights/pp_353629.html
They look really cool. I swapped my MonkeyLights out for them. Be sure to get the 192 LED version. They make a lower res version.
Currently the leading-edge design is to used vinyl hinges glued to the panels. Last time I checked there was still discussion in the Google Group about exactly what the best glue was.
It isn't decoration really, but things like these aluminum heat reflecting products reduce the August heat under the shade by about 10 degrees.
The main selling point is that it's easy to set up, which makes it not very useful at burning man, since you only set up camp once for the whole week.
It would "survive" in the sense it won't be destroyed by the elements, I bring a cheap walmart 2 person tent to hold all my coolers and food and they always survive for the most part. The question is whether it makes sense for BM, and I say no.
We set up a big cheap tent from wally world in a portable car garage and it works amazing.

Me @ The Disco Chateau Cuddle Puddle on Monday. Lots more to come.
EDIT: Mostly funky and tribal house, tracklist is in there.

Really set the tone for the burn for me. You can hear it on my first wrapup mix from the cuddle puddle here: https://www.mixcloud.com/benjaminjorgens/benjamin-jorgens-cuddle-puddle-session-pillowfight/
Last year it was Hi Life - Monkey Safari (Cheeky Bold Cover)
Year before that it was probably Time - Pachanga Boys
I dont have many hour long remixes, just lots of different tracks. However I do have one of my favorite mix that is an hour long
Flipside 2012 effigy Burn
Pretty nice but im partial, it was an amazing burn
Great concept, but I'm too busy making art for my holiday to fund your holiday. I'd print a set if the PDF were available non commercially like you're supposed to make it.
Better remedy that before they find out...

13kt gusting 31kt in Gerlach, but playa winds will be worse. Gate radio expects 40-50mph gusts at the peak.
You could try something like this but to be honest... even mountain bikes get bogged down in the sand often.
I heard last year saw an exceptionally wet summer, so the playa was reportedly extra hard pack this past burn, but I wouldn't bet it to be enough.
Plus Pandora have many key learnings about EDM Festival Dance to share, and synergistic opportunities....
I'm kidding. I have no idea what it "means"....
They fucked up by including the wavier/contract in the pdf, particularly the non-disclosure agreement. Never heard of an NDA on playa before.
Of course, we can all assume if they show up in 2019 it'll be with the org's blessings--if anyone saw Spark in 2013 these were the same guys who fucked up so badly in 2011 the org held their hand through 2012. Maybe the org gets a portion of the forfeited moop deposits, or maybe not, but everyone is complicit.
I will submit exhibit A for cross examination by the defense. The before and after photos are self explanatory. OK maybe harder to tell... but playa dust has a tendency to infiltrate and dread-ize hair.
The design is from a concept that a designer submitted as a proposal for this year's ticket: https://www.behance.net/gallery/14566091/Burning-Man-Caravansary-2014-Ticket
Looks like the scammer just picked the first google image result for Burning Man 2014 ticket.

This is probably the closest thing I have found but it is still hosiery. I did not think this would be that hard to find.
I was going to joke that it was one of these(fireproof suits from Amazon) but now I'm just sitting here stunned that they are only $129.99.
Sounds awesome! In case you haven't seen it, Adafruit has a great guide for that type of design.
FYI, you can get the necessary 4 meters of LEDs on Amazon for less than half of the Adafruit price :)
I really liked this style (an RZ-style mask), it was small and compact, it fit well and did a good job. I liked that I could fold it up and fit it in my bag. You can buy them from China for dirt cheap (order now incase it doesn't come), or off amazon prime for a bit more, there are like 100 places that make an identical one, I have no idea which brand I've bought. It had velcro, so I just kept mine in my bag, or around my neck, or around my bike handelbars. Only word of warning is that they're on the small side, so if you're a dude with a big face or a beard - it probably won't fit.
In the past I had a full respirator, it was the only mask I brought first year. I hated it - I found it big, bulky, heavy, and not very comfortable. It looked cool, but when you're wearing it for 6 hours in a dust storm...ugh. It was a pain in the ass to carry around because it didn't fit in my bag and wasn't comfortable around my neck and made my face sweaty. I ended up just having a scarf around my face half the time.
So now I bring one or two of those masks above, along with a couple bandanas and a couple scarves so I can switch back and forth when I feel like it.
Disclaimer - The dust didn't bother me (even with asthma and allergies) so I felt those were sufficient, some people will only wear highly-rated particle masks, some people don't use a mask at all. It's up to you if you want something with higher ratings, but I found these totally fine.
Amazon, you can get all sorts of sizes from various sellers and some will even do custom sizes. I framed a tonne of art for my new apartment last year that way. I will say though that I recommend opting for ones with plastic rather than real glass, unless you like doing returns. The specific ones I got for my Burning Man posters can be found here.
Maybe try using those waterproof sil sacks that roll up and clip at the top. If they keep water out they prob keep water in. Here’s an example on amazon - https://www.amazon.com/Sea-Summit-Ultra-Sil-Dry-Sack/dp/B001Q3KK8C
> I have a sleeping bag that is 6 degrees Celsius- would that, with some warm blankets, be warm enough for the burn?
Should be fine, with the blankets. It does get down to around 0c some nights and I was chilly even in my -1C sleeping bag. Last year was particularly warm so it was unneeded, but who knows what the year will bring.
For a mattress ... I've literally used the $8 Walmart Intex mattress for like 30 camping trips since 2013. It works fine and is quite comfy. It WILL stretch and relax when you first use it (for the first few days), and it will stretch out if it's in the sun, near the edge of your tent, so you will have to top it up each night... but not really a big deal. Don't expect to fill it once and have it last all week, but a handful of pumps shouldn't really be an issue.
It's a little bit more expensive on Amazon but still only $15
Another option is to get an inflatable camping sleeping pad. I own this one https://www.amazon.com/Klymit-Static-Lightweight-Sleeping-Green/dp/B007RFG0NM/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1533220749&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=static+v&psc=1 Its on sale right now on amazon. I bought mine for backpacking, its super small and lightweight (packs down to the size of a big burrito) and to me its as comfortable as an air mattress, or even more because it doesn't sag throughout the night. It is skinny so if you roll around in the night its not for you, but I sleep like a rock at burning man and its perfect for me.
The bearings can differ slightly per bike so a local bike shop would be best to confirm for your bike. Mine took ones like this(https://www.amazon.com/Lowrider-Bearing-bearing-bearings-bicycles/dp/B07DN4G1MC/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1534355874&sr=8-3&keywords=cruiser+bike+bearings), but Amazon is way over priced as I got mine for about 2 bucks a pair. here is a video to learn to do it yourself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=picMxSwpXH0
I got this collapsible bed frame and this tri fold mattress both from amazon. You can fit 4 plastic 54 quart bins underneath on each side of the frame for convenient clothes storage.
The bed isn’t squeaky at all for sexy times and my back felt great all week. Slept like a rock. Made everyone jelly
I've brought a canvas camp 450 to the playa the past two years. I have a friend that bought a few cheaper ones on amazon, and there is a noticeable difference in quality. If I could go back, I would make the same decision to spend a little more.
The 450 is a touch big for two people, but I like having all that space and it allows us to set up a pillow area near the door to host people.
I haven't tried any of these options, but I'm very interested in exploring this. The tent gets hot as fuck.
I've used two figjam swamp coolers which make it possible to sleep into the afternoon if one is pointed at your face, but they don't cool the ambient temperature of the tent much, and when you wake up the rest of your body is covered in sweat. This could be because my tent is so large or due to improper ventilation. I'm thinking about making two more this year, so that each of us is as cool as we'd want to be.
I string these all along each guyline and around the door frame. It looks awesome and having something like is a necessity so that you and your campmates aren't tripping any more than intended.

I would not recommend carrying a 16oz cup. It's a drag to carry unless you have a backpack. Theres so much deliciousness out there that you'll be sad if you have to drink a full cup before you get to it also.
I reommend something in the 8oz range.
We did our first flame piece last year- you are welcome to PM me.
There is a great book on profane. Make: Fire: The Art and Science of Working with Propane https://www.amazon.com/dp/1680450875/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_VyuOCbSGFNQX4
Also the people at poofersupply.com are burners and very helpful. They also occasionally give classes. We didn’t manage to take one, but heard good things.
Highly recommend those resources unless you are very knowledge about propane (your post implies that’s not the case)
Re material: For us, we were metal artists first. Five years of welding experience, some garage space and a stubborn attitude got a lot done. MIG welding is fairly quick to pick up (we honestly learned most of what we know from a weekend class and you tube videos, and lots of time burning ourselves in the garage). Steel is fairly easy to work with. Make friends with the people at the metal yard and have them use their big sheer to do major cuts for you, and you can do a lot of the rest with hand held power tools.
Keep it small and keep it simple would be wise advice- but no one who is making flame art for burning man wants wise advice. ;) so let’s go with this: try really hard not to blow yourself up.
2gIc pasta? Video or it didn't happen!
The sporks I bring are reusable plastic and hold up pretty well because they're made of heavy, flexible plastic, not like the rigid ones they give away at fast food places.
You can get 30 of them for $12.99 on Amazon. Ali Express might have them even cheaper.
cost effective?

Thinking a few boxes of these. And a few months of evening sewing!
I check this site one month out every year and it tends to be reasonably accurate. I’m sharing it bc it shows how temps will be dropping by the time the burn happens. Also, keep in mind that on the actual playa it will be a bit hotter than these temps in daytime and a bit colder than these temps at night. Definitely do not expect it to be in the 60s at night, you will not be a happy camper if you don’t have a coat for nighttime. https://www.accuweather.com/en/us/gerlach/89412/august-weather/344284
I’m just gonna take this opportunity to post the DMV’s gallery of rejected rejected Mutant Vehicles.
I got some "smart fairy lights" that were USB powered for my backpack. They were great, could change the colors/patterns easily and they sipped power
Here's a progress video of the floor, if you scrub to the two minute mark you can see the LED floor in action. It will softly change over time and based on people moving into the space.
I have used this tent for 3 years in a row.
I just taped up the little mesh at the top of it, and it's pretty decent at keeping dust out! Definitely the most bang for my buck out there. Although I do sleep under a monkey hut, so it's not entirely exposed to the elements.
yes, thank you "Wash Light" I guess
they are $$ will try to find a cheaper solution in case they are stolen "burrowed" at some other event...
I found these https://www.amazon.com/FINENIC-Adjustable-Portable-Flexible-Compatible/dp/B08M5MD923/ ordered

will try ... I'll put some color filter film on top and attach to power banks and will see
BUT I'm not sure how high up they will shine ...

preferably would be USB powered flashlight - or a bulb/lamp that shines like a flashlight upwards ... but can not find it ...
Kodiak with an aluminet shade structure is a great way to go. You can build a small 10' x 10' structure like this using 8 pieces of 1" EMT conduit and connectors. Coleman instant cabins are also great out there and less than half the cost of the kodiak.
A great method for staking your tent and your shade to the ground is using 10"-14" lag screws. They zip in and out of the playa very easily. You can also make anchor points for your guy lines by using two chain links and a washer with your lag screw.
Kodiaks are great, starting around 550 and going up. This particular Coleman tent works very well and holds up on the playa for years. https://www.amazon.com/Coleman-6-Person-Instant-Cabin-2000018017/dp/B004E4ERHA/ref=sr\_1\_3?crid=3VJVJ1WRLP9L&keywords=coleman%2B6%2Bperson%2Binstant%2Btent&qid=1664385934&qu=eyJxc2MiOiIzLjIzIiwicXNhIjoiMi4zMyIsInFzcCI6IjEuNTUifQ%3D%3D...
I've been using a generic ice fishing tent that cost me $150 for the last few burns. The dimensions inside the tent is roughly 7'x7' and has a ceiling high enough that I can stand up fully. It doesn't have a connected floor, so I just put a tarp down, and a cheap rug on top that catches loose playa dust. It's basically completely wind resistant as long as you lag bolt it down and use 1 guy line for the wall where the wind comes from.
For power, you can get a mppt boost charger like this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08K3FVCKG/ and hook it directly to a 48v ebike battery. Most cheap solar chargers are buck chargers so they require the solar voltage input to be higher than the battery voltage. The boost charger lets you use smaller panels to charge common ebike batteries. Then you can get a 48v to 12v step-down regulator to power 12v DC appliances, or a 12v car inverter for 120v AC appliances.
If you don't want to be this fancy, you can just search for "solar generator" on amazon and buy one of those units that include a battery, solar charger, and 120v AC inverter in a single unit.
Ok, this is what he did - he mixed two different kinds of lights but plugged them into the same controller. This was the first one:

And this is the second:
The best thing I learned at the renegade burn was disposable pee bags! I keep a bunch on my bike now for just this occasion. I even gifted them to some camp members while we were out on the art car and there was no bathroom in sight.. they are buying them for the next burn now also!
Go with LED "neon" rope. Make the mount for it. Get 5v, it will run off a power brick.

Locktite can be disabled with heat...obviously if it's on plastic you need to be careful but maybe something like this. https://www.harborfreight.com/3-in-1-cordless-soldering-iron-64034.html Did you try an 18v impact or hammer impact, something like this https://www.amazon.com/TEKTON-2905-8-Inch-Manual-7-Piece/dp/B000NPPATS/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=hammer+impact+screwdriver&qid=1662777470&sr=8-5 Seems like one of those should get it off in conjunction with a little heat.
