The 1.3.6 update has become 1.4. This is the 4th and final major update to the game, and the trailer don't show everything, there will be more surprises. It will be out by the end of the year, and Re-Logic will move to the next game.
https://terraria.org/news/re-logic-announces-terraria-journey-s-end-at-e3
Source? Their FAQ says that this is their last update planned
Presented but not Created. Re-Logic had no part in it aside from Publishing and advertising the title. It was developed by 4 people (Their names are on the Steam page).
Plus relogic is currently working on Terraria Otherworld. It'd be a little hard for them to make Terraria 1.3, Overworld and this at the same time wouldn't it?
Devs expect to release it before the end of the year, but they might push it back. For more info related to the update I recommend you to check the official announcement: https://terraria.org/news/re-logic-announces-terraria-journey-s-end-at-e3
https://forums.terraria.org/index.php?threads/the-path-ahead-major-news-updates-for-console-mobile.47156/ and here https://terraria.org/news if you scroll down. They are rebuilding/rewriting the app from scratch due to what they learn in console terraria development and it should make for better player experience and ease of updates for devs.
I Googled it. I don't see any official confirmation of a date. I don't see a date on their official news page, and all I can find on their Twitter page is later this year.
Thanks. I didn't know that. So can you point me to a specific official announcement wherein the devs state when and if it will be released? I don't see it on any of the links you posted.
Ive read a few places that 1.3 is supposed to be coming out by the end of the year. Hopefully the will fix the wiring bugs in that update as well.
Edit: check a few posts down here: https://terraria.org/news
30th of February next week. Look, this is r/steam and not the Re-Logic hotline, we don't know exactly when, try contacting the devs, publishers or something.

>maybe terrira got old and not interesting for these times?
It recently got a really big free update.
Read about it here.
You could try a game called terraria. It's a 2d pixel exploration/building/combat game. Stuff happens as you explore more and create more items. It's pretty cool, and there is a co-op mode so 2 people can play (you both need individual computers and copies though, but the game is less than £7 on steam, not sure in USD, but that's about $11-12).
Just my suggestion, I'm sure there will be more of them.
This sorta reminds me of Starbound. There is a game feature where you can import a song of your choice or play a default song with the 30 or so instruments in game, with friends! Basically if you and your friends were in the same area you could start a band with your respected instrument! and play altogether!
Edit: What is Starbound? Well its like Terraria but much more advanced and in depth. To sum it up in a paragraph. Its basically ~~No mans sky~~ 2D Minecraft with an almost infinite procedurally generated universe where you can fly ships, build structure and fight. The items are all detailed and a lot of thought has gone into it, for example food isn't just generic meats and fruits you can cook burgers and soup once you get to higher tiers.

Terraria Official Website || https://terraria.org
If you wanna check it out
Si no lo conocen, denle una mirada al Terraria.
Es un builder/crafter/survival-ish? muy divertido, no es un Minecraft 2D, y si les gusta jugar a la casita este es el juego.
Also Loki said last month "June will be here before we all know it!", so I am guessing June-ish is still a realistic release date.
If you like Minecraft, good chance you'd like Terarria and Starbound, similar kind of craft stuff born out of the same vein, though both Terarria and Starbound are 2D side scrolling.
More about exploring your world and fighting off bosses in the case of Terarria, kind of sandbox Castlevaniaesque. Starbound is planet exploration you find all sorts of strange aliens.
Ok so terraria mobile is behind by about one major update. This update is currently in alpha phase in terms of getting it to mobile so it will come out eventually. You can find more info on here https://terraria.org/news. It updates the community on all terrarua news. The 1.3 update for mobile is like 4 or 5 down
They said in the FAQ here that this is the last update they have planned, and that Re-Logic will be tackling another game after getting Console and Mobile updated.
Tagging /u/StanleyThePsycho so they see it as well.
Something I read on terraria.org had an faq section that said this is the final update. Everything after this is just bug fixes and such. I'll try to find the link.
EDIT: https://terraria.org/news/re-logic-announces-terraria-journey-s-end-at-e3
"Q: Why call it Journey's End instead of 1.4? A: Our current plan is for this to be the crowning update to Terraria. We do not currently have any plans to tackle additional updates, outside of fixes and maybe a few tidbits here and there to shore things up."
Just wait a few days for Terraria's 1.3 update. It's going to move the multiplayer into Steamworks, which should take away the requirement of port forwarding and virtual LANS to connect to your friends. The update releases June 30th.
For general purpose virtual LANs, you've already listed the ones I would suggest; I think it might be just a connection issue in general with them, perhaps ISP or distance? But, like I said... in a few days they shouldn't be needed for Terraia multiplayer.
Others suggested the Lego games, and they're great for kids, but from what I recall, they don't do online multiplayer (so she won't get to play with other people unless you joined in or she had a friend over).
Another good option might be Terraria (page for Xbox One version). It has some of the same digging, building, and fighting aspects that Minecraft has, but all in a 2D world.

start at the 'set up your network' then do the part in the link. Its really as easy as 1) download the server files from terraria.org 2) run the server program 3) set up your router 4) use your public IP address to let people join
While I recognize that your post is in the spirit of this thread, I couldn't help but notice you saying that nothing brings you joy. I do get this, I've struggled with my own depression. It's typically a daily thing, tbh. I also have been struggling a lot recently with thoughts of my own aging and mortality as well recently. Actually had a dream last night about it and realized that I'm mentally woefully unprepared for it. I'm not sure if "joy" is ever really attainable for me, though I do have moments where I think I feel it.

All that to say that I hope you are able to find something that gives you a little spark of the elusive joy, whatever "joy" means to you. For me, gardening has given a little extra oomph in that area. It's really special to grow things from seed. I'm also in my 30s and still play video games and probably won't ever give that up until I absolutely have to. (Sidenote: You mentioned you used to play video games so I'm just going to throw out a Terraria recommendation to you. It has a retro feel and is quite nice.) Try different things. What's there to lose when you already feel like shit? Feel more shitty? Sure, but just maybe you'll find something that puts that spark of joy back in you. Once you've found it, keep doing it. There truly is so much beauty in this world, sometimes it's just difficult to find.

I've maybe had a bit too much wine, but your post really resonated with me and I felt compelled to respond. I wish you the best in life and hope you can find some sort of happiness. Even if it's just a flicker once in awhile.
oh really ? thats weird. any sources ? i tried to search for it but could not find anything, terraria.org loads only news page for me and there is only that it came out yesterday
It's called One Terraria because the plan is to have literally one version of the game where everybody plays together. PC, consoles, mobile. Everybody. The plan is older: 2017. But considering Update 1.4 and that they are finally bringing 1.3 to mobile I'd say they are finally getting there.
They will remove tons of the mobile exclusive content though to do it.
Here is the source: https://terraria.org/news/update-on-console-mobile-1-3-update-progress
I mean.. they are also 2 years behind schedule. But I never saw any mention that this plan was scrapped.
Heres a source btw https://terraria.org/news/the-path-ahead-major-news-updates-for-console-mobile
The only downside i see is that it won't be done until at least q2 of next year which is stated in the post i linked
Terraria can eat up a ton of hours and personally I think it's way more fun with multiple people. It's cheap on steam to begin with and usually drops to about $2.50 during a given sale. It might be a little heavy on the mouse use for her, though.
I second /u/Shortyspade's recommendation of Civilization (V or otherwise) since it's a lot of fun and you can play it forever.
I'd also recommend checking out the numerous game bundle sites out there since you can often times get 5+ games for like $5 including lots of multiplayer games. They tend to be more indy stuff but sometimes notable games get bundled too.
Still in beta, but I suspect it won't be for very long. I'd say they'd release it (out of beta) by the end of the month as they promised in their 1.3 update post.
^(^edited ^to ^add ^link ^to ^update ^post)
I tried connecting to my friend who was playing PC Terraria, so I invited him to a server I had with another friend of mine, using the Terraria dedicated server tool, which I found in the community forums.
It’s really easy to do and play this, however it is not officially supported, the version which I used was desktop 1.4.0.5 and it worked perfectly, however I won’t tell how to downgrade Terraria, because I think it is against the rules.
So you need to follow these steps to play: 1. Download the Dedicated Server Tool from the Terraria website 2. Once you’ve done it, you only need to run the server with any world you like 3. You get the IP and Port (Normally it is 7777) and port-forward if you need to 4. Go to Multiplayer and insert the data, and you’re good to go.
I found links in your comment that were not hyperlinked:
I did the honors for you.
^delete ^| ^information ^| ^<3
You can host through steam, run a dedicated server (link at the bottom of this page) or pay for a server host like nodecraft. If you're hosting locally, you might have firewall or other issues depending on your networks configuration and your internet connection.
This makes more sense. Thank you.
I believe you're running the wrong server version/type. Those are the server files for Terraria on Windows, Mac, and Linux. If you want to run a server for Android or iOS, then you can find the appropriate server files at the bottom of the Terraria home page.
There doesn't seem to be much documentation for it. And the server only seems to run on Windows.
That's because Re-Logic let the game pre-1.4 be downloaded anonymously, but not anymore, it seems. SteamCMD gets confused if there are already a bunch of files created for Terraria there and it'll tell you it's already up to date.
If you remove everything (including temp files and config/cache files outside the directory of Terraria), it'll tell you that you don't have a subscription for this app on anonymous.
They already have a Dedicated Server version of the game, I have no idea why they didn't publish it on Steam. For now you can update it either if you log in ("+login [uname]" or "+login [uname] [pass] <two-factor-auth-code>" but I really don't recommend having your password written down in plain text), or from their website on the footer there's a link called Dedicated Server.
Maybe we should ask them kindly, I mean it's really not that big of a deal, I believe.
Hey, did you know Terraria realised a special version for April Fools? It can be found here, it's a separate file: https://terraria.org/versions/april-1-2020/download
Huh, I didn't notice they had a hotfix, however https://terraria.org/server/terraria-server-1402.zip seems to be a dead link which is what is commonly used to download the dedicated servers. There is a workaround for another link right now though... thanks for the info!
No specific date, but it’s scheduled to be released this year
The devs have put up the change log in the forums
The size in steam was about 90-100 mb
I downloaded the terraria-server-1401.zip from terraria.org just a few moments ago (it's located in the footer), but i'm getting an error trying to run it.

It seems the link now points to terraria-server-1353.zip, so i suspect they are aware of this or it was just released to soon.
I don't really understand the question, I'm hosting my server on my PC, (downloaded server files from terraria.org, at the bottom you have hyperlink for dedicated server, (basically the same servers files as those included in Terraria downloaded from steam) I don't really like hosting servers through stream because long time ago it had a lot of problems), I think I'm using default settings (I didn't change anything besides server password in console and unlocking 7777 port in my router because I don't like to use hamachi)
(my PC specs are i5 3470 and 6GB of RAM and RX 580, if you're curious about that)
I want to know all about the efficient methods, but when my friend first introduced me to Terraria he started a new world with me and in only a few minutes had things that I had no idea even existed. There was no joy in discovery because nothing I could find was anywhere near the value of what he was doing. There needs to be a general introduction that the game can handle on its own. I thought the game was stupid for an entire year after that until I picked it up on my own, played around, and discovered the joys within. It's a great game, but my experience with him just crushing everything I managed was terrible.
Learning efficiency before basics is the path to zero enjoyment. Efficiency can only be truly understood and properly enjoyed after the mechanics have been grasped.
I love to play Terraria with my bf! I live in Brazil and he lives in Australia, so we're always trying to find stuff to do together. He's also a serious gamer and I'm a newbie, hahaha, but Terraria is fun and sort of casual, you spend time building stuff together and exploring different lands... It's fun and cute, cos there's a lot of team work to do. https://terraria.org/
Can't speak directly about marketing but
>What worries me is that this game is so simple that a more experienced developer could take one look at my concept and make a finished game before I release it
Definitely happens. Mobile is infamous for it. Seems to be a risk you have to take. Of course, you can finish the game completely, start marketing and set the release date for 3-6 months later.
I would argue that you have more free time as a college student (if not engineering / computer science / architecture major) than you do working full-time after graduation. I do my 40-50 hours a week computer job, live on my own so have to cook, clean, pay bills, etc. Not complaining but living in a college dorm on a meal plan and I only had to deal with coin laundry. 15 hours of classes a week was a nice life.
Publishers can and do market the game for you. Maybe not possible to find one with a very simple game and, I think, a first time developer, I dunno. Still can apply.
Speaking of copyright comment, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but your game text, art and music assets are automatically protected. Can use the ™ symbol for unregistered trademarks (your game title) as a sort of warning to would be copiers. Your game mechanics are not copyrightable, though game cannot be "confusingly similar" either in name or function to an existing title.
So clone Minecraft but don't use the same exact GUI, crafting system or call it Minecraft'd. Make it outer space themed? You're good. Make it 2D? No problem here.
Mojang should hire me. My one and only skill is deleting all of Minecraft's code, disbanding Mojang, and replacing minecraft.net with a redirect to terraria.org. I think I could really simplify mob grinders and increase game quality by about 400%.
Ibb and Obb . has some tricky platforming but you really need to cooperate to win. the technical aspects aren't too bad. you can pull the team more with your skill. If she likes puzzles half the game is solving the other half is execution.
- it's not couch coop but gotta recommend Terraria](https://terraria.org/) , it's just great, you can build together and you can help skill-wise by protecting her. You can also both play apart, it also offers some good combat challenges for you that she can skip if she wants. Probably a bit more accessible than minecraft. Terraria is probably in my top 10 games of all time. Love it.
-
for more platforming Rayman Origins. . Better than super mario imho, pretty accessible overall and co-ops well for collecting the lums. great graphics wonderful soundtrack and just overall fun.
If you're up to some emulation you can also access a lot of classic console games that couch co-op well, youc an even go less orthodox like Final Fantasy 6 (FF 3 on the SNES) where you can split control of the battle characters. Let her drive and you help in battle. Or similar for Secret of mana.
Paid $2.50 for it the first year it came out, and I still play it on and off.
Hundreds of hours of content, endless building potential, challenging old school side scroll goodness.
And the devs are still updating it for free.
An absolute video gaming classic.
I play rather a lot of games with my wife. It's our thing. Here are some of the better ones.
http://www.loversinadangerousspacetime.com/
Rocket league
Payday2
Starbound (not as good as terraria, somehow)
The SHIP (my god this game is amazingly fun, but you really need more than 2 people)
The escapists
Rim world (technically single player, but still fun to play side by side)
Terratech (early access, multiplayer not in yet, still fun)
Don't Starve Together (it's hit or miss. Either you love it, or hate it)
It depends on what she likes. I'm leaving complicated building games, like Starmade, emperyion, and from the depths off the list because not everyone is into that. (FtD is amazing, but it's not multiplayer just yet)
Terraria is really good. It's basically a 2D Minecraft with boss battles and other RPG elements.
Game Dev Tycoon features you starting a game development company in the 1980s. Kind of gets repetitive at the 15yr mark, but still fun.
Have you tried reinstalling the game?:).
Or you could try and install the dedicated server program: https://terraria.org/system/dedicated_servers/archives/000/000/007/original/terraria-server-1305.zip?1436817842
> We do want to give our Mac and Linux Terrarians a quick update as well. Based upon current status and planning, the plan is that Mac/Linux will launch shortly after 1.3 - aiming for a launch within the month of July. This is being done to ensure the most stable Mac/Linux builds possible so that everyone has the best experience that we can provide.
if you look at the thumbnail for the 1.3 trailer you will see the color of the plants are in the same order as an armor of the same color
so I would say the
blue pillar drops the summoner.
Orange drops melee.
purple drops mage.
and green drops ranged.
Dino Run your welcome =)
I know you said free, but these are killer indie games under $15.Terraria is like a 2D minecraft. Rogue Legacy is a ton of fun, randomized dungeon with RPG elements and metriodvania influences.
I'm thinking it's going to be a first-person space Terraria. From what we've been shown so far it looks to me as though people who enjoyed elements of Terraria will enjoy similar elements in No Man's Sky.
Which is to say everything will be done for different reasons and milage will vary dramatically.
Sure thing. I'd love more inspiration. Each time I learn something new I usually remodel. I'm always up for new ideas. In regards to the photo, I just took multiple screenshots and then stitched it all together in Photoshop. But I believe that int he 1.3 update they will be adding a way to get a full screenshot of an area.
"We have also added a new method for taking screen shots within the game. When you enable our new Screen Capture mode, you will be able to take larger scale pictures of your worlds and builds rather than using the old method of taking many smaller pictures and piecing them together!"
