Just found the app, it's a real app that allows free texting in the US it seems so she probably deleted it so people wouldn't get to Mrs Riddle's number, so it sounds like this might be real.
Look at https://www.textnow.com/
They say "No credit card needed"
Also,
How can your service start at 0$? What’s the catch?
Customers with eligible Sprint® devices can get our Nationwide Talk & Text service, free of charge by just downloading the TextNow app. This service is paid for by unobtrusive ads, so there is no subscription and no billing information required! And you can still connect to the Nationwide Sprint Network for phone service away from wi-fi.
I've been using SB everyday for at least 7 years now. I've never once used any of my real name, address, phone number, or email. But it's always the same fake info. Spam email, text only messaging service (this is the one I use), and some dilapidated house in my city that's surprisingly never torn down. If you are going to lie at least be consistent about. It's gotten to the point that when I go to enter my real info on a form I'll accidentally enter this fake persona before I catch myself.
I don't think it's very private, but I have personally used TextNow to receive authentication codes.
If you don't send a text every set amount of time (I can't remember), it gives your number to someone else (while keeping all of your received texts private); if you log in again later, it gives you a new number.
To refresh the time without paying anything, simply send a text to the same phone number they gave you.
Two free providers:
TextNow ad supported free talk and text using TextNow app on an unlocked T-mo compatible smartphone. Choice of US or Canadian incoming number. VoIP over WiFi with fallback to VoIP over T-Mo data. Five bucks for the sim and zero dollar invoice each month. Some caveats; look at r/TextNow for reviews.
FreedomPop on AT&T. 10 minutes, 10 text, 25 mb free a month. Over that they will charge payment on file.
Also possible to do minimal cost on PagePlus/Verizon at $10 refill for 120 days, Mint/T-mo sim 7 day trial kit typically for a buck, some Red Pocket eBay annual cheap deals in various carriers, some TracFone/NET10 deals through HSN or QVC, etc
Also for people who qualify (modest income or government assistance program) there are government subsidized cell phone services and a federal broadband subsidy.
Report her textnow account for harassment at https://www.textnow.com/support. They don’t allow their numbers to be used for harassment and theyll probably shut down her account altogether. If she’s using it that much she’s probably paying for it so she’ll lose whatever credits she’s already purchased. Keep reporting her Bc She’ll have to keep creating new emails to make new accounts so it’ll make it much harder on her to continue. I know this is more addressing a symptom than the root cause so let me also suggest- have you offered to talk to her about what her issue with you is? Not in person since she may be dangerous but a phone call (record it in case she threatens you) but maybe she thinks he cheated with you or something, and if she gets too awful you can always hang up but it might not hurt to hear her out and see what her real issue is.
Anything is better than Freedompop. If you change your mind and cancel Freedompop make sure you call your bank or credit card and have them "block merchant" on freedompop because they will continue to charge you even after you cancel your account. Check out Textnow, you can get the app from the google play store and use it for free texting and calling over wifi. They also have some nice looking phones and plans https://www.textnow.com/plans.
That sucks. This is exactly the kind of thing that keeps people away from sites like Craigslist.
FYI I use TextNow whenever I use Craigslist. I don't really like the app because it's ad-supported and pesters you about upgrading, but it allows me to call and text people from a "fake" number for free. Then once I'm done with it -- or if a person turns out to be a jerk -- I just get rid of the number and nobody can bother me.
I know that's no help now, but maybe you/others will find it useful in the future.
I have to agree with the phones. I buy cheap phones @ DG or https://www.textnow.com/wireless/ and depending on the phone run apps and/or do phoneverifications. I've made my money back and profited on every phone I've purchased
Free. Cheapest would be free ad supported talk and text using TextNow app on a T-mo compatible smartphone. VoIP over WiFi with fallback to VoIP over T-Mo data. Monthly invoice for zero dollars. Sim card is five bucks. Have this on a spare phone and it works well for me.
>As an UK-based telephony company, Truphone offered free incoming calls & texts. No other company providing cellular service here in the USA offers that.
Doesn't TextNow offer this, after the one-time purchase of a $5 sim?
All that does is put you on a wait list. Go here to order it now:
https://www.textnow.com/wireless/checkout?plan_id=57&product_id=392
I got a tracking number the next day and got it 3-4 days later.
Yes. TextNow is Waterloo, ON based. Choice of US or Canada number. Would be VoIP number.
Technically it is VoIP over WiFi with fallback to VoIP over Sprint using a Textnow app on a compatible smartphone. Sprint would just be on US Sprint towers (VoIP over Sprint data), but VoIP over WiFi can be in any country.
Phone number assigned can also be used in a tablet, PC or Mac.
The website is here.
Look at https://www.textnow.com/plans
2 Plans under "TextNow App" are VOIP based the Free one and Premium $2.99 one
The $9.99 is an actual phone subscription, it is from Sprint, not considered VOIP. But it is for Sprint/CDMA based phones only. Like it won't work on GSM only phones which work with AT&T/T-Mobile only.
You will need to enter IMEI at https://www.textnow.com/v3/wireless/sim-card to check if your phone is compatible
Just a guess that DMTF touch tone pass through is being blocked for some reason by Visible. Contact customer service? Or maybe add a free VoIP second phone number app or standalone ad supported free phone service (thinking ad supported TextNow?
Erm.. yeah TextNow operates for free by selling your advertisement data.
3. TextNow provides “Free” Services as well as
paid Services for users. In order to pay for the “Free” Service,
personalized advertisements are placed before you. Your Personal
Information has to be disclosed (sold) in order to obtain these
advertisements. Our paid Services (Premium Services) are available if
you wish TextNow to

It doesn't matter if you are on their SIM or if you are on their app, they sell your information to pay for the service. Personally, I'm okay with that since I use an ad blocker and tracker blocker, and I opted out of the selling. But that's their whole business model.
Google Voice works with any Google account, there's no restrictions. And if you don't trust Google, what makes you think you can trust TextNow? They're a smaller company with less brand security. Google is under heavy scrutiny at all times. If they cripple the service, they lose millions of people.
Porting in and out is easy with GV, you pay a $20 fee to port in and that's it.
TN doesn't even support forwarding unless you pay. At least GV offers it for free. It's also available on any platform, even web.
Also I don't know about you, TN say's I can get in contact with someone with the little purple help button; I cannot for the life of me get in contact with a human. It's just a bot. I tried "representative", "human", nope. There's no phone number or email for support.
Will work without Cellular (I have a cheap android Cellular tablet that I use only on WiFi) but suggest a possible free option:
You might want to consider putting an unlocked cheap T-mo compatible smartphone on TextNow. ESN can be checked online with them for compatibility. They have an ad supported free talk and text VoIP plan that uses WiFi with fallback to VoIP over T-Mo data (using the TextNow app). Five bucks for the sim card but zero monthly fee. Choice of US or Canada number. Have this on a spare moto phone and it definitely works. Customer service through online chat with them also is very good.
That's really odd. Have you reached out to customer care at TextNow?
Also, can you check your device compatibility on https://www.textnow.com/wireless/device-checker ? There have been reports about TMobile changing device requirements for their network
Actually it is, if he can post something on Reddit he can call someone “Oh he doesn’t have a phone bleh bleh bleh”
There’s a website called text now https://www.textnow.com Where you can get a free phone number.
And all they post is about being so suicidal and depressed and self harming them self, like literally, for internet points.
TextNow is FREE. Grab any compatible phone (or use your old one), buy a $10 SIM card from their website and you get free texting, VoLTE and WiFI calls and a free phone number. I have two. Works great for the kids and it’s never cost me a dime (aside from SIM purchase)
Go to https://www.textnow.com/account/new#support.
Tap any help article.
At the bottom on the page that opens, click on the purple chat icon and start your support chat.
You can also DM @TextNow on Twitter.
Definitely don't let them get away with this. Please report back when you find out what happened. Thanks!
Basically, I asked for one, and the agent directed me to the page where it could be ordered for $5.
It was here, I know, where I started:
https://www.textnow.com/wireless/sim-card
I think you will have to put in the IMEI of an unlocked GSM phone for them to identify you as having one, and then will send you the Tmo one instead of ye olde Sprint one.
First, thank you SO much for reporting back.
Second, I'm surprised and disappointed for you that somehow you got a Sprint SIM card from TextNow. I thought there was a tiny chance a TextNow SIM card could possibly work in Canada, but I was expecting you to receive the new TextNow T-Mobile SIM card. https://www.textnow.com/wireless/checkout?plan_id=57&product_id=392 https://www.textnow.com/m/fasternetwork/
Third, I'll look forward to your next report after you visit Niagara. Thank you.

They also have a paragraph basically saying they have given peoples, and will give all your texts to the police no questions asked. I only used textnow for online verifications (before they started blocking voip numbers smh) and to message people I dont want having my real number. I have lineageOS on a shitty old samsung and use a peer-to-peer encrypted app for android to message sketchy shit to be honest. My brother's buddy made it a few years back for some stupid shit they do, it's not too bad I guess.
If you enter a T-Mobile compatible but non-Sprint compatible IMEI on https://www.textnow.com/wireless/sim-card you will see this message, We're changing networks. You're eligible for our faster coverage coming this Spring. Sign up now to get notified when early access and SIM cards are available.
With a box to enter your email address.
Google Voice: https://voice.google.com/
I make calls on google voice but I am hearing good things about TextNow.
Free wifi locations and passwords: https://www.wifimap.io/
Free wifi phone service: https://www.textnow.com/
If your cell phone works on the Sprint network, TextNow has an advertising supported cell phone service.
TextNow is unlimited FREE ad supported talk and text VoIP over WiFi with fallback to VoIP over Sprint cellular using the TextNow app. Most Sprint compatible smartphones work...there's an IMEI checker on their website. Skip any cellular data add on to keep it truly free...just do web surfing over WiFi. Choice of any US or Canada area code.
I have this as a backup phone on a Moto E5 Play. Get a monthly invoice for zero dollars.
One of the few freebies now left is ad supported TextNow. It's Free ad supported unlimited talk and text using VoIP over WiFi with fallback to VoIP over Sprint using their TextNow app on a Sprint compatible smartphone. Choice of US or Canada phone number. I use as backup and get a monthly invoice for zero dollars. Catch is it's Sprint network but t with T-Mo merger think coverage will increase when networks merge. Plus need to make occasional call to keep line live(they recycle abandoned numbers but do warn if that will occur).
Had FreedomPop for free backup data years ago, but gave up when they started playing games with service and I could see the handwriting on the wall. It's too bad, I've always had a soft spot for the ad supported free comm services (RingPlus, etc.).
One other plan to consider is TextNow. Ad supported free unlimited talk and text plan using TextNow app on a Sprint compatible smartphone with VoIP over WiFi and fallback to VoIP over Sprint. Choice of US or Canada phone number. I use this as a backup line and get a monthly invoice for zero dollars.
Cheaper would be TextNow. Ad supported free unlimited talk and text plan on TextNow app with VoIP over WiFi with fallback to VoIP over Sprint. I get a monthly invoice for zero dollars.
WiFi voice works ok for me on Visible on a Moto Z4 when I've used it and wifi bandwidth is good and low ping.
Suggestion of maybe try TextNow? It is VoIP over WiFi with fallback to VoIP over Sprint using their app on a smartphone. There is an unlimited talk and text ad supported free plan. Choice of US or Canada phone number.
Or TextNow app. Ad supported free version has free calls to Mexico using VoIP over WiFi or cell data. Will also work on PC, Mac, iPads, tablets and Sprint phones free of charge. Choice of US or Canada free number (would make a Visible phone a 2 line phone).
It connects to LTE but it is throttled to 2G speeds. I have not found another app that a actually works but I think push notifications will still come through and so does traffic to and from some websites. The reason I think this is the case is the existence of a (quite restrictive) “2G Fair Use Policy” in TextNow‘s website. https://www.textnow.com/fairUse
Another option if you can find a Sprint compatible iPhone ios 10 or higher or an Android smartphone v 5 or higher is activate it on TextNow That has unlimited ad supported free talk and text using their app for VoIP over WiFi with fallback to VoIP over Sprint. If a friend or family member has an old Sprint phone they upgraded from they could let you have, that would give you free service. You can always upgrade equipment later.

>EDIT: It goes without saying but don't fucking call Riddle's wife please, OP should probably nuke that photo ASAP so they remove the phone number.
There is no reason to use your primary phone number. I have one i use for friends, one for my business, and one for random CL people.
TextNow does not have coverage in Canada.
Click on 'Coverage Map' on this page:
https://www.textnow.com/wireless/sim-card
Both the CDMA and GSM maps cut off at the border.
Also, this in the comments from their support reps:
> I'm afraid that we do not support international roaming at this point in time
https://supportwireless.textnow.com/hc/en-us/articles/211434626-Check-For-Coverage-In-My-Area
Also, their Press / Announcements page does not have any new announcements about coverage in Canada.
Yes you can use http://receive-sms-online.com/ or any website similar to that (just google receive sms online) Only problem with using those websites is that people may use them too often which causes the number to be declined on the service you try to register on. If that happens you can sign up for https://www.textnow.com/ for free with random details as many times as you need a new number. You can also receive calls for verification as well. Good luck in the future
It's quite a bit passed your price range, but I would suggest the new moto g: http://www.motorola.com/us/products/moto-g
It's a better buy than a refurbished phone thats 2 years old going for half the price.
I also looked on slickdeals for a bit and found this: https://www.textnow.com/wireless/device/18 http://slickdeals.net/f/8182032-new-nexus-5-159-ref-moto-g-28?v=1&src=SiteSearch
Thats a great price for a new nexus 5, but I don't know anything about the retailer. (You dont need to use textnow service... just buy the phone and then cancel their service.)
LOL...then you should look into these deals:
Free unlimited talk and text, no data : https://www.textnow.com/wireless/checkout?plan_id=57&product_id=392
Free 300 min talk, 1000 text, 100mb: https://www.walmart.com/ip/FreedomPop-Bring-Your-Own-Phone-SIM-Kit-With-Free-300-Minutes-1000-Texts-100MB-Month-T-Mobile-GSM-Compatible/680827893
Since you don't need data, try TextNow ad supported free unlimited talk and text using their app on a compatible smartphone? VoIP over WiFi with fallback to VoIP over T-Mo data. Sim card is five bucks and service is truly free with an emailed monthly invoice for zero dollars. Ads are brief screen ads. Data only available for app talk and text. Decent online customer service via online chat during business hours if you need it. Choice of a new US or Canada number or you can port in your number. Need to make occasional call so they know line not abandoned (at bare minimum suggest a weekly test call and phone charge).
Yes, there are still some pay as you go plans
One would be page plus cellular that works on Verizon. Six cents a minute and need at least a $10 refill every 120 days. Unused airtime carrys over if refilled before expiration. Many phones work with it including cheap LTE flip phones.
Another good choice would be TextNow free ad supported unlimited talk and text on a compatible smartphone using the TextNow app. VoIP over WiFi with fallback to VoIP over T-Mo. Five bucks for sim card. Choice of US or Canadian incoming number.
If you just need a number that will work in Canada, you can use the TextNow app without giving out any personal data, but you'll have to have an alternative source of data, e.g., WiFi, hotspot or a data SIM / eSIM.
>You can use TextNow in Canada. Our free app with a local phone number and unlimited calling and texting is available in Canada (and a lot of other countries!) when connected to WiFi.
https://blog.textnow.com/blog/2021/11/12/textnow-in-canada-why-isnt-wireless-service-available/
Edit: https://www.textnow.com/
If in a T-mo service area, you could use ad supported free TextNow for unlimited talk and text. VoIP over WiFi with fallback to VoIP over T-Mo data using the TextNow app on a compatible smartphone with their $5 sim card. Number can be changed as often as once every two weeks if you start getting spammed again.
No no, their exact reply was:.
>Thank you for reaching out to TextNow. > >It appears that our system has disabled your account, as we detected activity that violates our Terms of Use: https://www.textnow.com/terms > >We are unable to see or disclose the specific violation. If you read the Terms of Use mentioned above, it should give you a good idea about what kind of behaviour may have caused this to happen, as well as how to avoid it in the future. > >We are unable to re-enable this account under any circumstances. > >Thank you!
I said the banning seemed to be happening randomly because I saw a ton of people on the play store complaining about it, how their account got banned without any reason or explanation and stuff.
>or maybe they want someone to pay for their stuff
That's the weird thing! I had a paid subscription with them and they still banned me! I'd paid for an year's worth, they banned me 4 months into the subscription, and they didn't even refund the money. Quite irritating.
Well, if there's a Windows (Phone) version of the app. (And the app is required for calls/text.) I know there's a PC version, or you can use it via a browser on a PC/laptop/Mac. I don't see a Windows Phone version of the app, and doubt that browser access would be functional on a cellphone.
You might start here https://www.textnow.com/downloads , and be prepared to reach out to Customer Service for advice.
Another option for an emergency cellphone is TextNow for ad supported free unlimited talk and text using an unlocked T-mo compatible smartphone (can be used; there is a serial number checker online to verify compatibility) and one of their sim cards for five bucks. VoIP over WiFi with fallback to VoIP over T-Mo. Choice of phone number. Need to make occasional call so they know phone number not abandoned. Suggest either 18004444444 MCI number check or Free Weather Call maybe once a week. Customer service over online chat on TextNow website is good if any issues. Also there's r/TextNow.
Since Super LTE is on the Verizon network, and Verizon often allows the enabling of call forwarding, here’s a potential solution to receiving inbound calls (but not texts) when abroad: 1) get a free WiFi calling app / account, such as https://voice.google.com or https://www.textnow.com ; 2) then, from your regular US mobile Super LTE number, enter *72 + the 10 digit number the app assigns for unconditional call forwarding, before you board the plane, stateside. Your calls will then be forwarded, and you’ll answer, when abroad, riding on your eSIM’s data connection. Inbound calls will appear seamless to your callers, as they’ll continue to dial your regular number. And using the Skype app with the caller ID set to your normal carrier number will keep your outbound calls back to them also business as usual. So, there would be no need to jump between US Mobile SIMs. /fs
You are able to install TextNow app on multiple phones, or use a browser to log in your account at https://www.textnow.com/messaging . You can use any of these devices to make/answer calls, send/receive texts, or check history of phone calls / texts at the same time. However, your child(ren) may also delete history from their phone(s), so I am not sure if this is really a "parental control".
See TextNow's blog: https://blog.textnow.com/blog/2020/07/23/the-secret-textnow-feature-for-multiple-devices/
Another option is ad supported free TextNow. It is VoIP over WiFi with fallback to VoIP over T-Mo data using the TextNow app and an unlocked T-Mo compatible smartphone (doesn't have to be fancy and can be used.. just so long as passes TextNow IMEI checker). Unlimited talk and text but no included data other than using T-mo data for the TextNow app... which might be ok in this situation. Updating apps would be over WiFi. Choice of US or Canada number and can port numbers in. Five bucks for TextNow sim card on their website and zero dollar monthly invoice. Various reviews of the service are on r/TextNow.
Do you have elastic calling turned on? If yes, TextNow will use your regular cellphone plan minutes if the Wi-Fi connection is poor.
The calls will show up on your cellphone bill, although with different phone numbers. This is similar to how Google Voice used to work.
https://www.textnow.com/elastic-calling
Check out the section titled "Do calls made with Voice Fallback appear on my carrier's phone bill?"
tried a number of MEID i have that are pending tello migration. none of them worked sadly:
Sorry.
This phone is not compatible.
Don’t worry, we have a selection of affordable phones available in our store.
> Are you looking for something like
> https://www.textnow.com/
TextNow may or may not be a good fit for the OP. Some 2FA won't work with a VoIP #, which is what TextNow is, and if the services requiring 2FA WILL work with a VoIP #, TextNow may charge a $4.99 PER YEAR fee for the ability to receive 2FA texts.
If chat support https://www.textnow.com/account/new#support is not available then reinstall application on the phone, create new account with different email address and contact support via above link. Sending email to may also help.
u/Youngessz I know your issue! I have been struggling with this too. If you go to the website https://www.textnow.com/signup as pointed out by others, then you CAN'T create an account using your email. You must sign-in through Google, Apple or Facebook and force link your account with TextNow.
If you wish to create a TextNow accounting using just email, the workaround is simple download the iOS or Android app and create the account from within the app.
This is a silly limitation.. I know...
>And all they post is about being so suicidal and depressed and self harming them self, like literally, for internet points.
Lmao, you.Literally have no proof that they do that. Just because they have tons of posts does not mean that they are doing it for internet points. You can't just dismis the.Possiblity, even if it is less for you, that they are suicidal and bash them because they're doing it for internet points
>Actually it is, if he can post something on Reddit he can call someone “Oh he doesn’t have a phone bleh bleh bleh”
Nigga I didn't say that. I only said that you don't know their circumstances. That doesn't mean their only troubling circumstance can be "not having a phone" isn't it?
>There’s a website called text now https://www.textnow.com Where you can get a free phone number.
Not everyone knows about it lol
Try out https://www.textnow.com/how-it-works Textnow seems like the cheapest option, if it doesn't seem to work/ be stable then you can always move up from there.
TextNow's $4.99/year plan will preserve the number. This is a relatively "pricey" $9.99/month plan but it seems worth it for the various features and no ads and also the number preservation you mentioned.
I don't know what TMO towers is. They do say "new faster coverage for Sprint and GSM devices" on this page: https://www.textnow.com/wireless/coverage
Hey OP, if it makes you feel any better, I've been messing with this guy for the past couple days.
I kept pestering him with questions, and telling him things would come up and I couldn't get to my PayPal account.
I finally sent him a request for $35, (which he promptly declined) then I called him out for being a scammer.
Here's a screen shot of the end of our conversation: https://imgur.com/a/TVPu8dS
P.S. If you any of you guys want to mess with these guys, textnow.com lets you set up a free fake number you can call and text from.
I think that IMEI check page must have been updated to this:
https://www.textnow.com/m/fasternetwork/
You can get to it from the link you posted but it's not very intuitive on exactly how to get there...
This one is only 15 bucks for talk and text only.
But that is a really good question.
Free Life line cell phone: https://www.freegovernmentcellphones.net/basics/how-do-i-get-a-free-phone

Just install TextNow and forget about ever paying for your phone. It’s completely free (ads) but the drawback is that it is WiFi only. You can get a real Canadian phone number and people can text you directly at that number through iMessage or whatever they want. And it isn’t like WhatsApp because you actually have a phone number linked to telelecom services. I frankly stay at home anyways, so why bother paying for data when you can you use WiFi for free and get the same benefits? Link: https://www.textnow.com/
OBS is a screen capture software used by professionals and it is free, as for editing you can use davinici resolve
As for recommended software, you can use textnow as a VoIP (phone emulator)

A vpn and virtual machine should be enough but it is important to disable file transfer or make it host to guest only so your host can never get a virus, even better remove guest additions.
On the topic, make a backup or your vm's vdi file so if you do get a virus you won't have to set everything up again

Good luck!
Avoid FreedomPop Freemium due to gotchas mentioned by others.
Alternative that is no cost is TextNow, it needs a Sprint smartphone(can be older used model; use meid checker on TextNow website), a Sprint or TextNow sim card, and functions by VOIP over WiFi with fallback to VOIP over Sprint using their ad supported app. No credit card needed for service. Do make occasional calls to keep line live.
Text Now
It’s a VOIP service and you can set it up on your phone. Many people use it for things like Kijiji and that so you aren’t giving away your actual number.
It’s completely free. The app loads on your phone and when you receive a call it behaves just like a normal call.
Edit: Technically it’s possible to know it’s a voip number so places like skip the dishes may not allow it (that’s how people abuse their promos). But I highly highly doubt it matters if you’re using it in an apartment.
The escorts that lurk on this sub will tell you that you have to use your real number and name and to give them photo id and your credit card number, and social...
But no you should not be giving your private personally identifiable information for seeking an escort. Once you get to know a provider and you feel comfortable with her then go ahead.
TextNow is the way to go. https://www.textnow.com/ You can get a local number for texting and I haven't tried it yet but I think you can even use it for making regular voice phone calls.
Really, the coverage map says their network includes Canada https://www.textnow.com/wireless/coverage but I contacted their rep on FB and he said Canada was not included. Can you detail your experience, especially your SIM card.
TextNow would be the cheapest for unlimited talk and text only. Ad supported free with choice of US or Canada number. VoIP over WiFi with fallback to VoIP over Sprint using their TextNow app. Sprint smartphone or tablet.
Another way to handle is free talk and text TextNow. Ad supported VoIP using their app but could use your phones data, wifi or Sprint cellular. Choice of US or Canada number(TextNow is based out of Waterloo, ON). Would suggest forward US number and get a Canada number on TextNow in province you usually visit.
Also be aware of arriveCAN app to expedite border crossing (paperwork even if exempt travel and have Nexus card). Can be submitted up to 48 hours before crossing.
Use TextNow app for free? Use the sim phone data and a free US or Canada number. Unlimited talk and text is ad supported. Still would keep the esim free for whatever you wanted.
TextNow is only 1.9 cents per minute to Russia. TextNow ad supported unlimited talk and text free service? Free VoIP over WiFi with fallback to VoIP over Sprint. Use existing iPhone and get their sim card for ten bucks (or Amazon universal Sprint 4 sim card set for three bucks). Sprint data is only for talk/text so any apps other than TextNow will need to run by WiFi from your other phone's hotspot. Also do make occasional call or text to keep your number...they will recycle abandoned numbers but will warn if that is going to occur. Your choice of any US or Canada number.
TextNow would be cheapest. Ad supported unlimited talk and text free plan using TextNow app on almost any Sprint smartphone. VoIP over WiFi with fallback to VoIP over Sprint. I get a monthly invoice for zero dollars....

How about TextNow? Ad supported FREE unlimited talk and text using their app for VoIP over WiFi with fallback to VoIP over Sprint cellular. Don't buy any data add-ons and just use wifi for web browsing. The Sprint cellular is useful for your son to reach home or call friends. Suggest an older model Sprint smartphone (I use a Moto e5 play that cost only about fifty bucks new on eBay...you could buy something off the TextNow shop so you could have it running out of the box) that passes their IMEI checker. No credit card needed and they send an invoice for zero dollars.

If a temp agency asks if you have a car, just say I have transportation available to me. Monthly train/subway/bus passes and a bike/kick scooter/penny skate board or Uber/Lyft should get you anywhere you need to go.
Cheapest would be ad supported FREE TextNow. It's VoIP over WiFi with fallback to VoIP over Sprint using their app. Unlimited talk and text but zero official data other than what's needed for the Textnow app (he would have to use wifi for that). Choice of US or Canada phone number.
How about a number park atNumber Barn? I think it's two bucks for 30 days plus five for port in, taxes and federal fees plus free port out so I'm guessing $10 total.
Or pick up a non-AT&T sim card off eBay and port in and out of that
Or sign up for ad supported unlimited talk and text free service on TextNow. VoIP over WiFi with fallback to VoIP over Sprint using an app on a Smartphone.
Such as using a 2 year China VPN refill on a Pokefi Hong Kong based roaming mifi device.
You also might want to consider the TextNow service but need to use frequently to maintain ported number.
Or Ultra $3 a month pay as you go plan could be used internationally with money in electronic wallet for roaming fees and long distance.
Maybe free ad supported unlimited talk and text TextNow? VoIP over WiFi with fallback to VoIP over Sprint using their app. Using a Sprint compatible smartphone such as iPhone with iOS 10 or higher or Android phone with 5.0 or higher. Also PC's, Mac's, tablets will work. YMMV because some text services block VoIP services.
What is your phone carrier?
> I also have no groceries because I eat out almost every meal.
This is a problem that you should fix - you shouldn't be eating out every meal, that is unhealthy and unhealthy for your wallet.
> I have to call to change the address. Which I can’t do.
Try Textnow, then use the Textnow phone number to verify a Google Voice number.
> No access to any social media because I can’t remember my passwords and they all require SMS/CALL verification to reset password.
After this is all figured out, use a password manager to remember your passwords for you.
Maybe TextNow for the kid? VoIP over WiFi with fallback to VoIP over Sprint (which merged with T-Mo). There's an ad supported free unlimited talk and text plan (web browsing will need to be WiFi; cellular data is officially only for talk and text purposes). No credit card required and you get emailed an invoice for zero dollars each month. Check the phone serial number on their website for compatibility. A TextNow sim card or a 4 sim universal Sprint sim kit ($3 or less on Amazon) is needed.
Thank you for your reply. I have looked for a way to close the account but there is no way to do that from the options given. It mentions that if the account is unused it will recycle the number from the account, but the account will always be open. I found out that the live chat is open in between 9est and 5.30est. I’ll try and check to see if I can contact them then and see if anything can be done, although they don’t seem to be the best company to deal with.
In regards to the confirm email it looks like you can use the account right away with you only needing to confirm your email if you want to use any more features.
Edit here is the email they send when you send a email to them
“We value you as a TextNow customer and have been listening to your feedback on how to serve you better. In an effort to provide you with the quickest and most effective customer care experience, we are moving to an online chat support model.
We are no longer using email for customer service inquiries.
For faster and efficient assistance we want to connect in real-time over our online chat or phone support. You can connect with us on chat here: https://www.textnow.com/wireless
We also welcome you to visit My Wireless Account on your TextNow app where you can manage your payment methods, wireless plan and much more.“
Sorry for the long post but I am really worried about this now.
Even better, TextNow rolled out an unlimited free ad supported Talk and Text plan earlier this year that uses their app for free VoIP over WiFi with fallback to free VoIP over Sprint. Users can skip cellular data add on packages and just use web browsing and apps over WiFi when they are near a hotspot. Any new or used smartphone or cellular tablet that is Sprint compatible and iOS 10 or Android 5 or higher will work. No credit card needed and you get an invoice for zero dollars each month.
Maybe join TextNow? Unlimited free ad-supported talk and text using their app on any Sprint smartphone that passes their meid check. Use existing Sprint sim card or buy one from them for $3 or get a universal 4 sim Sprint kit for same price or less from Amazon. VoIP over WiFi with fallback to VoIP over Sprint using a TextNow app. Free cellular data is just for talk and text so any web browsing or other apps will need to be over WiFi.
Even cheaper would be the TextNow ad supported unlimited talk and text plan. VoIP over WiFi with fallback to VoIP over Sprint using their TextNow app. Totally free with no credit card needed(unlike FreedomPop). Use existing sim in phone or buy one of theirs for three bucks(or buy 4 sim Sprint universal sim kit off Amazon for three bucks).
Some minor catches including data for web browsing or non TextNow apps would need to be off WiFi to be totally free. Also need to make a call or text periodically (best every day or two) to keep your number.
How about TextNow? They have ad supported free VoIP and SMS over data and Japan is definitely a supported country where they allow use and app downloading: TextNow supported countries. They accept port-in numbers but you may want to try a free US or Canada number first to see if the service fits your needs. Second slot wouldn't need to be used since app based (unless you want to activate a TextNow or Sprint sim card for use when in USA; their service does support fallback to Sprint at no charge on compatible phones). Includes free calls to North America; other countries at reasonable rates. They also have an ad free version for ten bucks a month.
TextNow ad supported unlimited talk and text free using their app for VoIP over wifi with fallback to VoIP over Sprint. Choice of US or Canada phone number including area code and exchange. Number can be kept indefinitely if line used regularly for talk and text but can be changed easily online if you need to. Have this on a Moto e5 play as a backup to my Visible phone. Works well when I'm in a Sprint coverage area.
International roaming sim like Piranha-Mobile
TextNow ad supported unlimited talk and text on Sprint network...I get a monthly bill for $0.
They have the sim for 3 bucks with free shipping. https://www.textnow.com/v3/wireless/sim-card

I got the card today.
Seems fine, and google voice works. Some google.com searches are hit or miss, sometimes I can get a page to load, other times it just redirects to the textnow home page.
Google maps is showing live street traffic w/ satellite view. I can zoom out and zoom in to the street of a state I have never visited (checking to see if my area was a cache)... but when I try and get directions, I get a server error. So some google servers/proxies are blocked.
I know many people use this as a backup, for dating, 2nd line for business. I would pay for unlocked 2G so that I could have maps and email in an emergency. I don't need speed. Might look into Tello when more travel restrictions are lifted.
You could keep both and put the Sprint phone on TextNow ad supported free unlimited talk and text. That's VoIP using TextNow app over WiFi with fallback to Sprint. Good backup to Visible if you are in a non-Vz coverage area sometimes.
