If you see this I suggest you sign up for Privacy.com and set up a card with a spending limit your bill's max per month. I just set one up to a $25 limit so anything higher gets automatically declined until we find out more.
I also changed my password, but we don't even know if the hackers are still in their network so that may not mean anything without 2FA.
Before you get too excited I suggest trying the Wehe app. It will check many different streaming sites and report the unthrottled and throttled speeds.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.meddle.wehe
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/wehe/id1309242023
The Wehe project is led by researchers at Northeastern University and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
I don't really see the advantage of Privacy.com. Sure, you can set a limit and you get a fake card, but don't you have to link that to your bank account?!?! If something is pulled from your bank account, how do you reverse a charge or who is responsible then?
I simply have a credit card as my payment method in Visible, and I am not responsible for any fraudulent charge I dispute. It is between Visible and my Credit card company, and doesn't cost or involve me. In Privacy, once that money is drawn from your bank account, it's outa there. I never use debit cards just for that reason. You are better protected with a credit card.
I switched from auto pay from PayPal to a Visa number tied to my checking through Privacy.com where I can limit the amount charged to $25 per month. I just received confirmation from Visible that my monthly payment went through with no problem.
That is true. I don’t disagree and that is a consideration. But payment processors generally have better security. Nothing is guaranteed but I look at as like a bank that can be hacked. https://privacy.com/security I have at least some confidence that if or when when they get hacked they will act quickly to resolve it and not deny it for a week and let it continue to happen. So as with anything, it’s how they handle, id it is widespread, and how seriously they take security.
You can make a similar argument to Password managers like lastpass. Having great unique logins to crappy sites is great but there is a single pint of failure if your PW manager is compromised.
It's worth noting that, as inconvenient as a compromise like this can be, Google Voice would allow us to simply create a new Visible account with a new number and new SIM and be on our way. Carrier numbers are basically long-term burners for us.
If using autopay, I'd also recommend using something like a Privacy.com card that can easily be deactivated in a situation like this.
Feel really bad for OP, though. That's gotta be incredibly frustrating.
HERES WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP PROTECT YOUR ACCOUNT:
Log into visible. If you can log in your account isn't hit yet. Go to payments and turn off autopay for now. Go to privacy.com and make a credit card with a max of $5 or whatever you want. Put that in for your payment method. It will stop someone from using your card or PayPal to purchase a phone. Password reset is still broken, it should be fixed *soon* whatever that means.
A few things to consider:
For example: if your email address was <em>jonesfamily@gmail.com</em>, you could also use <em>jonesfamily+child1@gmail.com</em>, <em>jonesfamily+child2@gmail.com</em>, and <em>jonesfamily+ipad1@gmail.com</em>, and they would appear to be different email addresses to visible, but all emails would go back to <em>jonesfamily@gmail.com</em>.
2) You could pay with the same credit card, use Paypal, or something like Privacy (Privacy.com, virtual cards for each account)
3) Parties are limited to 4 people, but you consider putting everyone else in 1 party, so they don't have to deal with people leaving the party and having to replace them, but your account could be apart of a different party, so you would be the only one dealing with joining parties.
Other things to consider:
It really depends where you live and how busy the tower is at the moment you perform your speed test. Keep in mind fast.com tests streaming speeds only which often are rate limited the most on top of deprioritization. I get awesome speeds out of the major city near me, not so good speeds in the city.
I've had consistently good speed since activation, first day was the slowest other than the 4th of July. I'm definitely not a Visible employee either.
Check out my Speedtest result! How fast is your internet? https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/5133745875
Do you ever join a different wifi network than your husband? Maybe make sure your Carrier Services app is updated too: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.ims
You may have fixed it by deleting the data for the app, too. Switching carriers probably won't fix anything since this is going thru Google, basically.
While true, fast.com is for video only speed tests. If the carrier caps video streams at 480p or 1080p, you're throttled for how fast of data you can download for video data specifically.
i live in a preet urban area- BUT, i suggest buying something on amazon (bc of the ez return policy). I like motorollas; but no idea how strong the signal is on camping.
Thanks for posting this review. There's a shortage of good cell booster reviews. It's really hard to get any level of confidence in whether they really work or not, aside from just ordering one and experimenting with it.
I do a lot of camping off the grid and I work fulltime remote. I really needs my cell data. I recently got the $215 Weboost LTE booster for Verizon/ATT from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07W3QGDG3/
It has definitely helped me to get service sufficient for working remote at times. Usually if I can get ANY signal without the booster, I can eventually get the booster pointed in a direction that will give me "ok" signal, enough to work at least. Sometimes if I get zero signal without the booster I can manage to get a bad signal with the booster. Not enough to work, but enough to at least send messages and slowly surf the internet. It was definitely $215 well spent for me.
Unfortunately no, I Galaxy S9 recognized immediately what the app was trying to do and stopped it. Interestingly enough I was able to set it up inside the app and my laptop picked up and connected to the SSID I created, but it connected with "No Internet". I believe the mobile hotspot functionality of the S9 stopped it from working. Its the only educated guess I have. Also it requires you to purchase an additional "key" from an app called FoxFi for additional options
I'm staying. I'm too happy with the quality of the phone service and price I pay for it ($25!). I just changed my payment method to a privacy.com card that people have been suggesting here.
Ah that's lame. In that case do what many others have done: Swap out your payment information for a privacy.com credit card. If you used PayPal make sure to remove automatic payments from Visible.
It's 2Mbps which allows for 480p comfortably and sometimes 720p
if you want to check for yourself just run a speed test on fast.com which is hosted by Netflix and throttled to the same speed cap as video feeds

yes its a referral link, just being forthcoming - you can make a custom plan, which i did - unlim data, 3 devices same time, all US servers $2/mo - and they have an app for every platform you can think of
Just a guess that DMTF touch tone pass through is being blocked for some reason by Visible. Contact customer service? Or maybe add a free VoIP second phone number app or standalone ad supported free phone service (thinking ad supported TextNow?
fast.com uses netflix servers and Visible I believe caps video traffic to 5mbps or less. And when your not using a VPN Visible doesn't know you are streaming video so it gives full speeds. Try using Ookla Speedtest for actual speeds.
WiFi voice works ok for me on Visible on a Moto Z4 when I've used it and wifi bandwidth is good and low ping.
Suggestion of maybe try TextNow? It is VoIP over WiFi with fallback to VoIP over Sprint using their app on a smartphone. There is an unlimited talk and text ad supported free plan. Choice of US or Canada phone number.
Or TextNow app. Ad supported free version has free calls to Mexico using VoIP over WiFi or cell data. Will also work on PC, Mac, iPads, tablets and Sprint phones free of charge. Choice of US or Canada free number (would make a Visible phone a 2 line phone).
I bought this portable bugger on Amazon for $20:
GL.iNET GL-MT300N-V2 Wireless Mini Portable Travel Router, Mobile Hotspot
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073TSK26W/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It allows me to connect a visible phone to the router via hotspot then my children can connect their ipads to it via wifi while we are on road trips. It just uses a USB-A for a few watts of power. When we turn the vehicle off it kills power to the router. Works awesome bypassing visible one device hotspot limit!
Try this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ray.samsungbandselection
In most cases, your phone will automatically pick and choose the best band. Sometimes picking a band manually makes it slower, since if you do it automatically it will combine many bands, otherwise manually it won’t combine bands.
For reference, this is the model I'm using: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01EY11K40/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_l619FbE45B5PB
There are some slight tweaks you need to do to make.it work as desired, but it works none the less. I would also recommend using it solely ad a modem, and having an actual WiFi access point/premium grade router for wireless. The WiFi on this one is only 2.4Ghz, and the radio is pretty week. I just disabled it and have it plugged into my Nighthawk.
IDK concerning your question on photo resolution. I just wanted to let you know there is a work around to enable Wi-Fi calling. Simply download this app from the play store, search "wificallingset" and select the available option. This will take you to a menu were you can activate Wi-Fi calling. Note not to turn Wi-Fi calling off in the future as you'll have to retrace these steps. Also, use caution with this app as it can also access other settings that may have adverse effects if changed. Hope this helps!
Edit: concerning your question, I don't frequently send photos as MMS as it decreases image quality. I normally send Google photo links instead.
I never really have any issues with the VPN I use. I use Mullvad and Wireguard to connect to the Mullvad service. Mullvad is just about the only VPN I've ever used without any significant slow downs, I know NordVPN over sells their service I always had extremely inconsistent speeds with NordVPN even when I was on a wired connection with a PC. A better quality VPN provider does make some difference, especially when they actually balance the load on their servers better
I feel like this is coming for sure.... Unlimited Cell service for $40/mo means WE are the product... we’re getting that price in exchange for the prying eyes of Visible. I was frankly surprised when I was able to use NordVPN at all, but now... it sounds like those days are numbered.
TigerVPN working fine for me. It's just OpenVPN.
Speed tests just now:
With VPN on connected to a NY VPN server: 16 down 10 up.
Without VPN connecting to a local speetest node: 10 down 15 up.
So the VPN that allegedly doesn't work is actually faster than not using it. Okay.
If you have very slow speeds, just get a reliable VPN from a reputable company like ExpressVPN or NordVPN. I had more better speeds and basically gave me a boost when speeds were unreliable.
I am not a sponsor, nor am I affiliated with ExpressVPN or NordVPN.
Chicago, IL. I average over 1GB a day.
Never noticed speeds under 5mbps. Hotspot works well. Calls are fine. Have noticed the “No Service” issue only in areas with poor B13 signal already. Otherwise has been great. Latency is consistently 100-150ms, VPN is useless as it reduces speeds to dial-up (using NordVPN). Would like WiFi Calling, especially in areas that I run the risk of dropping service (mostly happens deep inside of buildings and basements).
I’ll be taking a long roadtrip west soon, so I’ll be able to report my findings then. For $40, not bad, only real holdback is lack of WiFi Calling.
Also I don’t get any video throttle, just the 5mpbs. More than enough for max resolution (750p) on my iPhone 6.
Case will probably fit only thing is there's no hole for the fingerprint reader, if you use that.
I've looked around and can't find one for the A7 Prime that has holes in the right place for the camera and the fingerprint reader.
It looks like the Blade V10 is close, but the slot is longer for the camera and light. The bodies are a few millimeters different in size, but I might try one to see. Either that or I might wait a few months and there will be cases specifically for the A7 Prime, it's just too new right now.
Specs to compare body sizes, etc:
Blade V10 https://www.gsmarena.com/zte_blade_v10-9611.php
Blade A7 Prime https://www.gsmarena.com/zte_blade_a7_prime-9955.php
Wow what a thorough response, thanks so much!
Are all these compatible with a wireguard VPN like Mullvad?
That dual WiFi feature - could I also use it to uplink from a say Hotel or Campsite Wifi on one side, then have all my devices on the other?
I assume if so then no need for wired USB tether from my Visible device, can just use its WiFi hotspotting?
Depends on the device. The cheapest ones sold by Visible are capped, people say. The Pixel 4a I bought from Visible gave this result on my laptop with moderate signal. Hotspot tests say Verizon since it can't detect that the phone says Visible so it goes by the IP address. App speed tests say Visible.
https://www.speedtest.net/result/10135317500
152 DL and 57 UL but 112ms ping in Pittsburg, Kansas. Verizon has upped their game since I last had them. Other areas around here seem to ranger from 10 DL and 40 DL though. Can't complain
Check out my Speedtest result! How fast is your internet? https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/6494239460
If you want to have both, move your AT&T to the eSim, then get a visible sim. I am doing that with T-Mobile. It is good to have a backup carrier. For $25 per month when in a full party, it is hard to beat!!
T-Mobile
https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/i/4096021579
Visible
https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/i/4096021579
Had 2 bars with both providers.
While your latency and download speed are good, the upload speed is extreme low. This would effect your user experience.
My suggestion is probably trying another network (t-mobile) in your case and hope for a better user experience. I wouldn't recommend commiting until you know the network works. You could try mintmobie via amazon. Mint mobile is deprioritize but it'll still be a good way to test the network.
I downloaded the following app on my Pixel 6:
Force LTE Only (4G/5G) by Xsquare Studio
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xsquarestudio.forcelte&hl=en_US&gl=US
Set the preferred network type to not include any "NR" (which means 5G). Not my phone always says LTE at the top.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ray.samsungbandselection
This has worked on non-Samsung phones within the past year on phones that disabled the option to switch between 5G and 4G. Once you open the app, press "More Network Settings" and that should open an extended menu with additional options. Let me know if it works!
There are several Android apps that will allow you to add/edit APNs if the carrier has blocked it. One that has worked for me is AddAPN.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nyblnet.addapn&hl=en\_US&gl=US
Have you tried using the Google Messages app rather than the built-in Samsung one?
In my experience on non-Samsung devices that has some of its own dual-sim quirks, but it may work better for this. Note that if you're downloading MMS messages, it may force you to switch data SIMs as well, unfortunately.
I was going to offer him my Visible SIM card with about 15 days left on it for $12. I can just order a new one with a new number, I don't use the native number anyway, I forward my Google Voice number. I may let my Visible service lapse anyway. But he'd have to drive to the south Bay to get it. It's not on auto-payment.
I think for visitors that can plan ahead, buying a Visible SIM, with a month of service, on Amazon, and having it delivered to an Amazon locker, would be a good option. I've had stuff delivered to Amazon lockers at hotels. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09KW3H2TF . Unfortunately, he waited until the last minute so it's too late for that.
They're two of them that I use but Samsung phone only
This one
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ljh.networkmodesamsung
This two
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ljh.networkmode
What device do you have? If you have an Android device, you can go to the play store and download ForceLTE and you can go back to LTE.
Speedtest on phone No VPN - 3.3down 4.6up NordVPN - 23.3down 3.9up
Speedtest on PC w/ USB connection No VPN - 2.7down 2.3up NordVPN - 4.1down 6.5up
I don’t know why exactly the down/up ratio is so inconsistent, but to go from 23.3 down to 4.1 down is ludicrous… and could you expand on what you mean by “tethered traffic goes through the VPN?” I just so happen to have a 6s that I was thinking of jailbreaking in case that might help with internet speed, but didn’t know if it would even do anything. Since you’re saying that could actually work, I’ll probably look into that option more. If I were to jailbreak my 6s (which coincidentally used the same SIM), input my current SIM into that phone, active NordVPN, and plug the phone into my PC, how close would I be to achieving what you hinted at?
My calyx hotspot has been on 5g everywhere I've been and speeds are consistently 75mbs or higher with NordVPN active on slate. That's with no antennas or booster, just hanging in the window of my fifth wheel, tethered to my slate. It's been well worth it for my family. My kids stream a couple hours of TV everyday plus their game downloads. Zero issues in my first 4 months with calyx and always 400-500gb.
I consistently see this 5mpbs limit on their site and in these subs, but I've never received less than 10down. I did buy an iPhone from them when they dropped to $600, then sold it after the mofi5500 arrived. Even with NordVPN active, it's usually between 10-13mpbs down and 17-20up. I've never been throttled to just 5mpbs. Anyone have a theory why?
Is it because I bought an iPhone directly from visible? I'm only 8 months in, but have been all over SE US with it and never below 10mbps?
I know this post is a little old but yes visible does throttle data speeds when streaming videos, however, there is a way around the throttling that will enable you to stream videos above 480p. I've found that using ProtonVPN will bypass the streaming restrictions and keep your data connection at it's regular speed while connected to the VPN.
ProtonVPN
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wilysis.cellinfolite
I use that Samsung app for fix bands on my Galaxy S10 plus and that app up there to tell me what band is connected and it says it's for 5G as well You might want to check it out.
It actually can't!

The 3A XL has a 3CA Modem, while the 3 XL has a 5CA Modem.

I've been on Visible since December 2019. Great value; 30 down 10 up consistently for 25 bucks a month is great!
Check out my Speedtest result! How fast is your internet? https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/6292302676
Here’s my fastest about 3 miles from where I live.
60/17
https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/i/3979768307
At home it’s usually between 3-7 down in the day and increases at night and in the early mornings like at 3am even further.
Finally convinced I’m uncapped https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/i/3980155468
Been 5mbps or lower but after numerous chats with support and two reprovisions, I think I’m good, this test was with two bars
It’s not a hard 5.0, I’ve never hit 6 though, https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/i/3962484600 and yes I’ve spoken with support and they confirmed all members are uncapped, I just got activated on Sunday also
https://www.speedtest.net/result/9591394696 It's fairly inconsistent for me, I have seen speeds as high as 50mb/s down and speeds as low as .9 mb/s down. This is from VA.
Speed really depends on the congestion in your area. At my house the average DL is around 15 Mbps.
After a 10 min drive, this is the speed that I'm getting.
I'm in Gatlinburg TN right now where congestion is usually bad and my wife's phone is actually congested but mine is over 100Mbps
Check out my Speedtest result! How fast is your internet? https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/6129679169
Ping times are pretty solid improvement for sure. Almost equal to some of the big guys prepaid MVNOs. Cricket is still by far the best I have seen in a while but this makes the network much more usable and speeds are insane
https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/i/3877997528
East Bay Hayward, this is the highest i got yesterday and even in prime time still really not bad
I drove out to the tower I always use today and this is what I got right next to it:
https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/6035082761
This confirmed my suspicion that they are throttling my internet. I have never done a speedtest that hit even 6 Mbps on Visible. I think I will be switching to something else soon.
Tethering from iPhone 11 to iPad Pro
I’m north Houston/Spring, TX area. I will say that I get various speeds throughout the day. Sometimes it is blazingly fast (upwards of 20 MBs/down) and sometimes I get 2 MBs or so.
I usually run VPN (Windscribe Pro) on phone and iPad.
Here's today's test from an evening test. Nearly 140Mbps down. Only posting in here due to your questions. I've played minor games in the park over hotspot and had to latency issues, but no major games. I don't use it for home internet, but I do use it as a backup and I did have to use it one day as backup. I was able to use Bomgar (remote desktop software) and be on a zoom call at the same time, no issue.
Check out my Speedtest result! How fast is your internet? https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/5991691486
I've been all over Knoxville and the Maryville area over the past few weeks for work and family and so far, no speed issues. Depending on where your at in Knoxville, it sometimes drops to as slow as 5 or 6 Mbps, but that was inside Sam's Club. FYI, T-Mobile post paid, my last carrier didn't work in Sam's Club at all. Most places have been very speedy
No call quality issues yet. I thought I had one but turns out, Everytime I call the same employee of mine, I have the same results but not on other calls. I'm blaming the issue on his phone, he also had issues before I switched. I'm a team lead for a help desk for a fairly large retailer so I use my phone a lot and no other issues.
So far, still very happy

LOL...after clicking on your link, I realize you made a LITERAL statement, not an OPINION!!!
Personally, I would make a case for getting the Moto G Pure instead, since it is more compatible with OTHER carriers (and comes unlocked out of the box).
The actual CASE I bought was less than half as much and seems quite adequate.
I use a iPhone XR as my car gps and trying out Visible via eSIM.
I have had this issue a few times, where there is full signal, but the phone just neve loads anything, acts like there is no connection, but does not report no connection.
I have had Waze for very brief time say "No connection"
And the other day, walking from my garage to apartment complex, 1/3 city block distance, tried to get my Google Assistant routine of coming home to run, but it just sat there thinking about it.
I have toggled airplane on then off, and that fixed it, all but one time.
I also tried having my TM pre-paid sim in the phone and using dual sim, where Visible is used for Data connection, and TM for calling...but it did not like that and I had severe text message issues and no outgoing call audio when using the TM sim. (different issue than this thread is about though)
I am a very low mobile data user, wifi is everywhere, but in my apartment unit, and work place, TM signal is quite low. I am on TM Connect $15 2.5GB plan, ($17.50 after taxes) so $8 more per month for full unlimited sounds like a great deal.
Speeds so far in the SpeedTest.net app are great most of the time. But i see fast.com run by Netflix is throttled to under 5megs. Visible also has nearly double the Ping and Jitter as TM prepaid connection has. But it still seems to work fine.
You're video is being throttled. Run a speed test on speedtest.net. Then run one on fast.com. That difference is he video throttling. I think Visible throttles video to something like 2mbps down or so. Most people use a vpn to bypass it.
Use Privacy . Make a card for visible and set the monthly limit to whatever your bill is. Then any other transactions get automatically declined.
I do this for all my bills or reoccurring payments. Really anything that takes a card.
If the SMS never gets to the Visible phone number then yeah, it's a bit of separation.
See if any of your banks offer an option for a yubikey or other hardware security.
Also consider using virtual card numbers if your bank offers them. If not something like Privacy.com might be worth a look. The freebie option should work for most individual purposes.
All these banks relying on sms 2fa should, imho, fkn die miserable horrible slow fiery painful deaths already. Even the FBI knew that shit was broken back in 2008 (and they're so far behind criminals in tech that the '08 "announcement" from them was already behind the 8-ball.) But banks have insurance that will pay out so who gaf about actual security?
For me this isn't an option because most of my bills are on autopay to either my card or my bank account. Most to my credit card.
That's why it's a PITA. If privacy.com ever finishes reviewing my account I'll be using that from now on at visible with a strict $25 spend limit IF I decide to come back.
I tried that but Privacy.com is apparently manually reviewing my account for the next 48 hours. So I guess that option isn't going to happen. Well on the bright side I got hacked once already so I doubt it will happen again, but if it does, deus vult.
If you're going to go with any MVNO I'd suggest these steps:

People, it's time to learn to create layers of protection for yourselves and not rely on corps who are not security focused to protect you. Consequences of a breach (like identity theft) will not end after the 1 year of "identity protection monitoring" they will give you as "mea culpa" ends.
You only get one SSN, one face, one set of biometric (fingerprints, retinas, etc.) None of these can be changed if/when they are publicly posted/traded/sold. Put up the layers to help isolate yourself from these events. You'll never be 1000% or even 100% protected but the closer you get the less they care about you and go for the "easy marks"
Don't be an easy mark!
I'm waiting to see how they respond to the cleanup of this. If it's going back to business as usual, I'll likely switch to something else. If they implement some actual security measures, I'll likely stick it out. I was affected, but there's a chance of being affected by something like this no matter who you use. Now that I'm using privacy.com I'm a little less concerned. I'll be using a randomly generated password and a password manager once I regain access to my account.
I just used a card from Privacy.com to change my payment information, then deleted the card. I already have my service set to cancel on 11/1 anyway. Not going to look back when this is over.
For those who want a cheap VPN use Windscribe also Windscribe has the best track record out of all the VPNs out there. here’s the link I build my own plan so it’s 2 dollars a month for me it’s completely unlimited!

Similar, -106dBm 34 asu, TMobile -123dbm and still getting 11d .5up It's they way it is, I tried them last Sept and couldn't get over .3 down most of the day at home but averged about 3-10 most other places I frequent. Only came back now since I needed a phone and to cut down bills given the impending economic issues on the horizon so I'm back for the forcible future. I hope your speeds stay in the useable range, the reality is Verizon is vary congested in some places/ heavy handed network management, we aren't paying the premium and as such get what we get.
I just toggled airplane mode for like 10 seconds and now it’s stupid fast , regardless it’s amazing how well the network has been doing in last 2-3 weeks.
Good job visible!!
As someone mentioned it could be regional or tower based. I’m in Midtown Atlanta and just tried about 1 mile apart from each other and I instantly get peak speeds of 15-20 which then levels out back to 5 down/up within 2-3 seconds. Ran again with 5 bars
I used a Galaxy S9. I will always post the speedtest link. Please check my profile posts for more Speedtests on Visible.

Visible isn’t doing too well in Moline Illinois.
Ping = 110ms
DL - 2.36Mbps
UL - 5.20Mbps
Listen to what your saying.. Yes, lower by how much? If they choke data speeds to a point where it limited your day to day use of smartphones. We are suppose to have 4g speeds! Can you define those speeds? Those speed test during normal day time is so slow, you might as well call that AOL dialup speeds. One thing I noticed driving from Arden, NC to Fort Worth, TX. Is some towers extremely limiting data speeds during peak hours. And those towers can range from in city to BFE. But 90% of those towers in between during peak hrs was above 13mbps to 108.0mbps.
Visible has its issues but it is still a great service in New York.

Oh wow. Depending on where I am, I have gotten mobile speed as much as 180 mbs download, and consistently get about 20-30 at home. It must depend where you are and how close you are to a tower.
The speed is really bad. And this is about my average speed. These speeds are worse than my DSL Check out my Speedtest result! How fast is your internet? https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/5710847267
If the Verizon server works best you, then that the server to use.

I used the Sprint server to test different connections with better results than the other servers. Use what works best for you.
Rocking it with .15⬇️ and 1.2⬆️ Ping in the mid 200s jitter over 1200
Deprioritization is strong here same location I can get speed test over a 100 if it's 5 in the morning if it's 5 in the afternoon though .1

Brooklyn New York, Morning time congestion. Test indoors ( Brick, Iron & Concrete building )
Using Visible R2
Using Verizon's Yonkers NY server, no difference between theirs and Pilots server.
At night I get super speeds , 120+/- Mbps Down and 30 Mbps +/- Up
On occasion speeds would drift down to the mid 20 Mbps up and down during peak hours, not a complaint at all.

Signed up for service about 6 weeks ago; regularly get ~500kbps; 1/10 of the minimum speeds I was promised when I signed up. Spoken to 14 reps now and several specialists. Extremely frustrated.

My results, iphone se to mac just now. Visible is like a box of chocolates...you never know what you are going to get :-)
https://www.speedtest.net/ reports a speed of around 15mbps, but if you use a network monitor tool, like NetSpeedMonitor to test your download speed, then you can see the difference. Or just downloading a large file from the internet, like nvidia drivers or whatever. You will notice the real speed is significantly slower than speed tests.
I'm considering switching from Verizon to visible but I'm reading really terrible reviews, including people having nightmares porting their number such as on this review site:
The cheap yellow one would take USB tethering right away and I liked USB tethering as it keeps the phone fully charged, but it would just randomly disconnect. Have you tried Bluetooth tethering? It's supposed to use less resources on the phone and harder for the carriers to detect. OpenWRT.org has the info to add Bluetooth tethering but the yellow one has an older version of OpenWRT that doesn't support Bluetooth and won't take an upgrade.
Forgot to mention Rakuten is also offering 4% off your new cell phone order. Save an additional $230 when you combine the $200 gift card offer on Visible.com with Rakuten (formerly known as ebates).
I think you will get mixed results from people about 5g with the 1+ 8T on Verizon network. The device only supports 3 of the 5 bands that Verizon uses for 5g. So depending on your area you might get 5G might not
The terms of service allow Visible to throttle hotspot to 5 Mbps, but they don't. I get the same with hotspot as I do on the phone itself. They can impose the throttle any time they want to.
Video streaming sources are throttled to 2 Mbps.
fast.com is from Netflix so they throttle it like a video streaming source.
Fast.com shows exactly 2.0 mbps consistantly while speedtest on the phone will vary from 5.0 to 8.0 mbps. Never have problems streaming Netflix, Disney, etc. I usually run about 130 - 150 GB per month. It's a great vale!
