I started using energy bar from the play store
Turns the top edge of the display into a battery indicator, with the pixel color scheme. So it doesn't show % but does in an analog-y kind of way
Thanks alot. here's the wallpapers: https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/5a16oq/heres_some_google_logo_oled_wallpapers_i_made_for/ Here's the app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=you.in.spark.energy&hl=da
If you play mobile games, this is a great add-on.
I recently installed this app called Energy Bar (free app).
It shows colors for different battery percentages (colors are also customizable). It shows on top of the notification bar, it looks really sleek on the S7 Edge.
My favorite use for the space (although not all of it) is a battery energy bar. I like THIS one. The colors are all customizable and the thickness, too. I feel that the app is functionality over beauty... but that seems to be what you are going for.
Another thing I particularly like about this app is that it overlays your games. That means while an app has hidden the status bar, you can still decide when its time to stop so you don't run outta juice.
this app is really awesome for this. no notification at all, just a simple color indicator. sometimes it takes a sec to turn on after sleep but otherwise, it is seamless. there are some nice paid features as well but I use the free version.

I use Energy Bar. It shows a thin colored (customizable) bar at the top of my phone just a few pixels tall on top of the notification bar. Easily shows me how much juice I got left. Battery AND % icons are hidden for me.
Because I use Energy Bar so I always know how full my battery is at a glance. No percent needed!
Edit: Nobody else knows of this? It's amazing! Go get it.
Found a partial (~90%) solution.
There's a setting in RR's Settings > Configurations > Dynamic Navbar Color which, if turned off, will keep the nav bar black most of the time. (Occasionally it is not. In Google Now it's transparent, for example, and EvolveSMS uses its theme color, at least when the keyboard isn't popped up. In Nova Launcher it's transparent by default, but this can be turned off in the Nova settings.)
The app Energy Bar can be used to display battery status behind the status bar. By changing all the colors to black and making sure the Transparent Status Bar option is turned off, you can get a black status bar in all apps. The only issue is that when an app specifies a light-colored status bar, the status bar icons turn black and are therefore invisible against the forced black status bar. There are, fortunately, few apps that specify a light status bar; Samsung Internet is one.
LoliStat Reborn (the module linked in another comment) may be able to deal with some of the left-over oddities in this approach, but I found it just made different problems, so I'm currently dealing without it.
I am yet to see phone with notification LED which doesn't use LED by default to indicate it's charging, sometimes you can't even disable it on stock ROM (personally I find it annoying in night, so I disable it)
btw. what about this software? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=you.in.spark.energy
Energy bar basically does the same thing, but only for battery, with a bit of customization
I didn't even know energy bar until 2 weeks ago and simply love it, and now I see that this is even a thing for other stats
Why not try Energy Bar: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=you.in.spark.energy&hl=en or T.E.A.M. Battery Bar: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pvy.batterybar&hl=en

Neat battery indicator for the top of your phone.
List made using List My Apps
Do you have the app "Energy Bar" installed?
Great question! It's this battery app.
I'm not sure what PN battery bar was like, but I use energy bar. It's really nice.
Energy bar seems to do it. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=you.in.spark.energy
Oh! Energy Ring is dedicated for devices with a punch-hole based camera. You may try my other App, Energy Bar on your device! :)
S10e here. This one is pretty nice too

Energy Bar - Google Play link
I'm not entirely sure what phones it is offered on, but I know it's on Samsung phones and there is a Curved Edition for Samsung Edge phones. It works really well, looks cool and is very customizable. I think the non-curved version would work for most Android phones.
Also, Google Opinion Rewards. I've only made $95.37 in the past 4 years, but this has paid for all of my paid apps on my phone and I use it for music or TV shows. They send out around 4-10 surveys per month (you can get more or less depending on your location and if you keep your location turned on and willingness to participate further in surveys) and you make at minimum 10 cents all the way up to $1.00 in Google Play credit. I usually sit on $20-30 all of the time. You can use it on Pro version applications, music, books, TV shows, movie rentals, and so on.
Night mode made themes irrelevant but I still use Energy bar
There's an app called Energy bar. Might be what you're thinking of?
Think it could be this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=you.in.spark.energy
I think she's using this app.
Whoops. Forgot to add that, it's EnergyBar
I like to think I'm doing something at least a little nonconventional here.
This is my home screen and secondary screen.
Thanks for reading!
I'm using Tasker to replicate the function of apps like these.
Company: Indie Dev here, IJP on Google Play Store.
Job: Part-time Android Developer/Intern/Learner
Location: Only Remote
Visa: N/A
Description: Developer of Energy Bar/Ring/Notch & Access Dots here. I developer these nifty tool based Apps that users so much that my Apps are one of the first Apps they install when they upgrade their device.
I have several ideas/projects lined up, but as a one-man-army, it gets very tricky to churn out the Apps even after exhausting 15+ hours a day.
I am looking for Android Developers who are still in learning phase OR have done enough of theory and pet projects want to build and learn something more cool and bigger. Here is your opportunity to be my helping hand and code the basic UI/UX of my Apps while I code the brains in them.
What's in for you?: As an indie dev, I might not be able to compensate much financially, however, you will get to learn a lot of cool development stuff from me, plus credits of you having working on one of my Apps.
Feel free to DM me. :)
My battery level.
Here are a few apps I like:
Energy Bar - Lets you add a bar to your status, uh.. bar. You can set it to indicate stuff like battery life and network connection. Nice if you have your status bar hidden in your launcher.
Automate - Does exactly what you'd expect it to. Allows you to make flows to automate certain tasks. For example, I made a flow that checks my calendar everyday at midnight & sets an alarm an hour before my first event.
Chrooma Keyboard - Less functional, but much more customizable than GBoard.
Textra - Super customizable.
And if you're looking for an app that will let you send messages from your computer like iMessage, try Pushbullet, AirDroid, or Pulse.
I switched from iOS, too, and I'm never going back.
I've never really been a fan of a lot of icons on a homescreen but this icon set seems to have changed my mind. Been doing minor tweaks on this for a couple of weeks now, but I think I've got it to a point where it'll be staying... until I change my mind... again.
I'm not sure if this is what you are referring to, but energy bar adds a bar based on your battery percentage. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=you.in.spark.energy
I was using the DigitalHigh6P ROM when I made that screenshot. I think it was kinda discontinued/now got renamed and has a few less/other features:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/development/rom-digitalhigh6p-xposed-root-t3251308
This is how my Appdrawer looks/looked (Night mode in that screenshot tho) (Nova Launcher)
Other screens looked the same as they look on any other device. I just did hide the statusbar on homescreen and made a widget which would show the battery bar (which I found out later also can be achieved with an app and even anywhere! (Energy Bar)
Hey! The parent App, Energy Bar has been out there for over 5 years now, and Energy Ring for S10 series is being actively used since its launch, no complaints of screen burn-ins so far. However, no guarantee is claimed.
If you would like to be extra precautions, you can keep changing the ring origin every once in a while and switch to gradient colors. :)
