Both daily uses for me, and meet the criteria. For those who don't know, Swipe is a Facebook wrapper that is far more battery friendly than the native app and ForceDoze forces your device to doze immediately instead after x minutes.
It works. Here's what Pro version adds:

Those are really just extra features. Free version works very well, without ads or anything annoying. Only ads you see are the Facebook sponsored posts but those you get also on the official app. IIRC, the "Hide sponsored posts" option is only available on Pro.

It's so easy for us (that is, humans) to get stuck in black and white mode. Either privacy or the lack thereof. Either Vegan or no diet at all. Republican or Democrat. Good vs Evil. Etc. etc.
In reality, almost all of us are going to fall on a spectrum. I believe what privacy crusaders should be after is not to convince the population to become completely anonymous to the powers that be, but rather to be constantly conscious of what data they are exchanging for services. If you think it's a fair trade that Google knows you are going to McDonalds, and you value the directions to get to McDonalds, maybe that's a fair trade to you.
Having said that, you can also do some things to gain privacy while not giving up anything. For example, if you use Windows 10, disable all of the opt-in tracking and maybe run scripts like Destroy Windows 10 Spying. Or using something like Swipe instead of the official Facebook App.
Delete it and use Swipe Pro.
No Ads, Messaging Built-in, Everything always shown in chronological order, the only thing you cant do is tag people from your status using @ (but strangely you can do it in comments)
I use Swipe for Facebook Pro and it also has the chat heads feature, I don't remember if the free version does or not. But you can turn off all of that Facebook crap.

You ever thoughat about just using Swipe Pro, it's a wrapper for facebook but it does everything including chatheads in one app, no adds, very fast and light, and extremely customizeable (you can actually default your view to most recent...and it stays)
interesting. are you sure it's not free with pro in-app purchase? because the pro link is still showing 6.2.3 for me.

The Facebook app is kinda crap and uses up battery like crazy, use Swipe instead. That app makes me wish my friends use Facebook.
I'm not sure how much this would help, I just did this the other day
but uninstall the facebook app, and use this instead. The app looks great, has an amoled black theme. There was a big /r/android thread on it yesterday I believe.
Have seen plenty of threads with evidence about how Facebook drains the battery, so this might help too...give it a shot.

A little late to this party, but I've personally used A LOT of Android devices and I can honestly say nothing has ever felt so good in hand.
It's absolutely stunning to look at, I've never experienced any slow downs in the 5 months I owned it, it has an amazingly reliable camera that takes really great shots, very decent battery life, and probably the nicest display I have ever seen on a phone!
Facebook is definitely a bad culprit when it comes to battery consumption. This will probably not change for a long time. I'd recommend some great alternatives which are basically really fancy web wrappers. My two favorites are Swipe for Facebook Pro and Folio Pro. They are paid but they have free versions you can try before you buy.
Best twitter clients that I've used are the much loved Fenix for Twitter and the newly released Flamingo for Twitter (Beta).
As for gaming Vain Glory was smooth as butter!

I had to stop using the Facebook all together. I found Swipe to be a better alternative.

Guys, Swipe for Facebook pro is on sale right now. It's a third party app for Facebook with major enhancements compared to the official app. As we all know the official one is such a power hungry beast.
